RESUMEN

The objective of the present study is to analyze and compare the cutting performance of segmented diamond blades when dry-cutting concrete. A cutting criteria is proposed to characterize the wear of the blades by measuring the variation of the external diameter and the weight loss of the blade. The results exhibit the cutting blade SB-A, which has twice the density of diamonds and large contact area, exhibits less wear even though the material removal rate is higher compared with the other two cutting blades. Additionally, the surface topography of the different blades is evaluated to examine the impact of wear depending on the surface profile and the distribution of the diamonds in the blade's matrix. Large number of diamonds pull-out are found in blades type SB-C, which additionally shows the worst wear resistant capability. As a conclusion, the cutting efficiency of the blade is found to be related to the density of embedded diamonds and the type of the surface profile of the cutting blade after reaching the stop criteria.

Discussed are the possibilities of using syntaxa from floristic classification for the analysis of secondary restorative successions after forest cutting in South Ural Region. Peculiarities of secondary forest communities classification that may be viewed as subjects of indigenous vegetation syntaxa forming, sub-associations or could be systematized according to 'deductive' classification introduced by K. Kopecky and S. Heiny are considered. An example is presented of an analysis of communities succession system formed after cutting down hemiboreal pine and birch-pine herbaceous forests of Bupleuro-Pinetum association. Within this system the processes of divergence and convergence of succession series take place. Divergence occur as a result of lifting of the influence caused by dominants edificating role and manifestation of differences in soil humidification, also as a consequence of soil enrichment by mineral elements after burning down the felling debris. The reason behind convergence is grading influence of renewed forest stand. Trends in species richness changes during restorative successions may differ depending on ecotope features. In course of a succession, models of tolerance and inhibition become apparent.

RESUMEN

Genetic analysis of Triticum aestivum/Aegilops umbellulata introgressive line for the character ear awnedness has been realized. According to the studying the lines and hybrids for the characters awnedness and electrophoresis spectra of microsatellite components the digenic model for control of awnedness is suggested. The model supposes participation of gene--inhibitor of awnedness B1 (5AL) and gene--promoter of awnedness Awn1 in chromosome 6U of Aegilops umbellulata. Chromosome 5A of the awned line is rearranged relative to the same chromosome of the Aurora genotype. The distance between the Xwmc705-5AL SSR-locus and rearranged fragment or locus B1/b1 is determined as 15,5 cM.

Oxidized fullerite was obtained by heating a fullerite sample intercalated with oxygen, (O2)0.44C60, up to 300 degrees C. Orientational phase transitions in the oxidized fullerite are studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and have been found to possess a specific enthalpy whose value is lower by 25% than in the initial (O2)0.44C60 sample. In order to find possible reasons for hindrance to the buckyball rotations, we performed optimizations of defect buckyball fullerenes C60-n with different distributions of vacancies along with the dimers C60-n-C60-n and C60-C60-n for n = 1-4 using density functional theory with generalized gradient approximation. We found that the dimerization energy ranges from 1.07 eV (C58-C58) to 6.56 eV (C56-C56) and from 1.81 eV (C60-C58) to 4.29 eV (C60-C56), respectively. The formation of such dimers, which could in addition interact with defect buckyball cages and form larger aggregates, is to be related to the lowering of the orientational transition enthalpy.

Decommissioning of nuclear power plants and other nuclear fuel cycle facilities associated with residual radioactive contamination of their territories is an imperative issue. Significant problems may result from decommissioning of cooling ponds with residual radioactive contamination. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) Cooling Pond is one of the largest self-contained water reservoirs in the Chernobyl region and Ukrainian and Belorussian Polesye region. The 1986 ChNPP Reactor Unit Number Four significantly contaminated the ChNPP Cooling Pond. The total radionuclide inventory in the ChNPP Cooling Pond bottom deposits are as follows: ¹³7Cs: 16.28 ± 2.59 TBq; 9°Sr: 2.4 ± 0.48 TBq; and ²³9+²4°Pu: 0.00518 ± 0.00148 TBq. The ChNPP Cooling Pond is inhabited by over 500 algae species and subspecies, over 200 invertebrate species, and 36 fish species. The total mass of the living organisms in the ChNPP Cooling Pond is estimated to range from about 60,000 to 100,000 tons. The territory adjacent to the ChNPP Cooling Pond attracts many birds and mammals (178 bird species and 47 mammal species were recorded in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone). This article describes several options for the ChNPP Cooling Pond decommissioning and environmental problems associated with its decommissioning. The article also provides assessments of the existing and potential exposure doses for the shoreline biota. For the 2008 conditions, the estimated total dose rate values were 11.4 40 µGy h⁻¹ for amphibians, 6.3 µGy h⁻¹ for birds, 15.1 µGy h⁻¹ for mammals, and 10.3 µGy h⁻¹ for reptiles, with the recommended maximum dose rate being equal to 40 µGy h⁻¹. However, drying the ChNPP Cooling Pond may increase the exposure doses to 94.5 µGy h⁻¹ for amphibians, 95.2 µGy h⁻¹ for birds, 284.0 µGy h⁻¹ for mammals, and 847.0 µGy h⁻¹ for reptiles. All of these anticipated dose rates exceed the recommended values.

There was analyzed the influence of warmth, moisture, and soil fertility on species richness and phytosociological spectrum of phytocenoses of three classes of Southern Ural autochthonous forests: Querco-Fagetea (nemoraloher-bosa), Vaccinio-Peceetea (boreal forests), and Brachypodio-Betuletea (hemiboreal forests). Environmental factors were estimated by Landolt's scales. We studied the changes of syntaxa of association rank by means of gradient phy-tosociological analysis. In phytosociological specter, in addition to the cenoflora of the three investigated classes, we estimated the representation of species from steppes (class Festuco-Brometea), xerothermal forest edges (class Tri-folio-Geranietea), and meadows (class Molinio-Arrhenatheretea). For boreal and hemiboreal forests, the dependence of cenoses species richness on environmental factors is parabolic, with its maximum in the middle of the gradient. With respect to nemoral forests, species richness declines with increase of environmental factors values. Maximum species richness is registered when the proportion of species of the own cenosis class in the community is maximal. The contribution of the ecotone effect (inclusion of other classes' species in the community composition) enhances as species richness reduces.

Radioactive contamination of small birds (484 individuals, 44 species) was investigated in the Chernobyl zone (Ukraine) in 2003-2005. Values variation of 90Sr and of 137Cs activity concentration reached 3-4 orders of magnitude even in one site, and maximum values amounted to hundreds Bq/g at the central plots of the zone. The biggest contamination is appropriate to birds in breeding season and to settled species, whilst migrants are the "cleanest". Change of contamination within a year reflects seasonal and short-term changes in birds diet and in behaviour. During breeding season females have higher activity concentration of 90Sr, while on 137Cs accumulation sexual differences are absent. In other seasons radioactive contamination of male and female does not differ if they live in similar conditions and have similar migratory behavior. Young birds during fledging and just after, as a rule, have higher levels of 90Sr contamination than adults, and actually do not differ on 137Cs accumulation. On a set of own and published data, it was assumed, that in small birds the half-life period of 137Cs extraction amounts to 1-2 days, and 90Sr- 5-10 days, and dynamic equilibrium of the radionuclides turnover in organism is reached over 4-7 and 17-34 days, respectively, after the birds arrival on the contaminated site. Among 44 studied species, those who search invertebrates in soil top layer or forest litter (thrushes). have noticeably higher accumulation of 90Sr and of 137Cs. Specific differences of radionuclides accumulation for the rest birds were not revealed due to small sample sizes of the species.

RESUMEN

Genetic composition for secaline genes was studied in four short stem rye populations (Bolgarskaya korotkostebelnaya, Gnom 1, Gnom 2, and Gnom 3) using the methods of classical hybridological analysis and population genetics. Eight, three, and four alleles of the genes Sec-3, Sec-2, Sec-1 correspondingly have been revealed in the studied populations. The frequencies of the specific alleles in each population were determined. The allele transmission to the next generation is restricted through the linkage of the secaline genes with the genes of self-incompatibility, S1 and Z, located on the same chromosomes as the secaline genes.

RESUMEN

There was studied the traumatic disease course in 11 pregnant women with different variants of severe combined thoracic and abdominal trauma, constituting 1.6% of total number of injured persons, suffering polytrauma. Polytrauma have had caused severe course of traumatic disease in majority of pregnant women. In the early postshock period the complications had occurred in 90.9% of injured persons. Antenatal death of fetus was noted in 81.8% of pregnant women with polytrauma. All pregnant women after polytrauma are alive.

RESUMEN

Theoretical basis and an algorithm of calculations for frequencies of genes and genotypes in the population of species with obligate cross-pollination under assessment for the character of polymorphic genetic basis are proposed. Use of four rye populations and the F1 and F2 from their crossings allows to determine genetic control of beta-amylase spectrum through identification of two genes, establishment of the allele number in each gene, and showing the linkage between beta-Amy-1 and the gene for self-incompatibility S2.

RESUMEN

Eco-floristic classification (Brawn-Blanquet system) is useful since in similar manner it can establish ecological units of different level (syntaxons) that have high indicative value. Syntaxons can be used as markers of terrestrial ecosystems of different range. Although this system was proposed by analogy with plant taxonomy it reflects vegetation continuum. The application of this approach is based on certain standards and supported by developed software. The elements of arbitrariness in Brawn-Blanquet method are constrained by rules of strict recommendations. The method is considered as necessary in studies of biodiversity in protected areas.

RESUMEN

Genetic analysis of four tow straw rye populations has been carried out basing on the trait electrophoretic spectrum of grain esterase isozymes. Expression of seven independent Est genes has been shown. Three of them are clustered and their intrapopulation polymorphism exceeds two alleles. Comparative analysis of the frequences of different genes in parental populations and in F2 with literature data about localization of Est genes makes it possible to carry out chromosomal localization of the genes identified according to the fact of presence or absence of linking with the genes of rye self-incompatibility.

RESUMEN

The process and results of genetic analysis of the short-stem rye populations (Secale cereale L.) for the trait "plant height" are described. The analysis has been performed with the joint scaling test using data of estimation of the parental and hybrid populations developed in the cyclic reciprocal crosses between four initial populations. Monogenic, digenic, and trigenic differences between parental rye populations for two genes of incomplete dominance and one multiallelic gene with additive allelic interaction were determined.

Investigation of pulmonary hemodynamics were carried out in 26 victims operated on for brain compression with intracranial (epi-, subdural, and intracerebral) hematomas in combination with severe contusions during different regimes of artificial ventilation of the lungs (VCV, VCV + PEEP, PCV). Intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure were evaluated. The results indicate that in patients with severe craniocerebral injury PCV decreased systolic pulmonary artery pressure, total pulmonary resistance, central venous pressure, intracranial pressure, increased cerebral perfusion pressure, and therefore the pressure cyclic mode is pathogenetically validated in this patient population.

In Regulations about military medical examination the medical essence of fitness categories for the military service in peace and wartime, which were determined by Russian Federation law, have been worked out. The Regulations determine the most important legal norms of organization and conducting of military medical examination. List of diseases--the main functional part of Regulations--contains 89 articles (in previous--116) and 4 columns, which envisage the requirements to health state of the different categories of citizens. The article' names in List of diseases and there sequence are been adapted at most to International Disease Classification.

The gastroscopic examination has been done in 72 children for diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis in 1993-1995. The authors think that this method is more reliable and sparing to compare with any others for diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis. The absence of pylorus motility as a reaction for the external stimulation is a main criterium for endoscopic diagnosis of congenital pylorostenosis.
