RESUMEN

Scintillators can be widely applied to the fields of radioactivity detection, space exploration, and medical diagnosis and have attracted great attention. Recently, manganese(II) complexes with high-efficiency phosphorescent emission are expected to be good candidates for new scintillator materials. Herein, we design and synthesize a series of novel nonclassical binuclear neutral manganese(II) complexes with unique coordination modes, in which the crystal structures of CP1 and CP2 contain both four-coordinated and six-coordinated manganese(II) centers and CP3 is formed as a binuclear five-coordinated dichloro-bridged dimer. The single crystals of CP1-CP3 exhibit excellent stability, which can be attributed to their nonionic structures. They all exhibit intense red emission under UV and X-ray irradiation. Among the three manganese(II) complexes, CP1 demonstrates the best luminescence efficiency and X-ray scintillation performance with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 91.9%, a relative light yield of 21037 photons MeV-1, and a detection limit of 34.45 nGyair s-1. Moreover, X-ray imaging based on CP1 scintillator screen demonstrates a spatial resolution of nearly 6 lp mm-1. As far as we know, this is the first report about stable binuclear neutral manganese(II) complexes for X-ray imaging and opens a new avenue for exploring novel scintillator materials.

RESUMEN

Three novel neutral manganese(ii) complexes (TPhPONMe2)2MnBr2, (TPhPOOMe)2MnBr2, and (TPhPOCF3)2MnBr2 have been designed and synthesized based on a functionalized Ph3PO ligand. These structures are clarified by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which reveals that they crystallize in centrosymmetric space groups and feature an isolated mononuclear structure with Mn2+ in a tetrahedral environment. The photoluminescence spectra and emission lifetime decay curves of three manganese(ii) complexes show distinct green emission (λem = 498-512 nm) and phosphorescence lifetime (τ = 362.0-663.0 µs). The results of DFT calculations indicate that the energy levels of (TPhPONMe2)2MnBr2 and (TPhPOOMe)2MnBr2 are higher than that of (TPhPOCF3)2MnBr2 due to the electron-donating effect of the NMe2 or OMe group, which explains the blue-shift of the emission wavelength and the increase of emission lifetime. Furthermore, the prepared neutral manganese(ii) complexes can be used for high-resolution luminescent printing.

RESUMEN

Based on four surveys of eggs and larvae in the Yangtze estuary in 2005 (April and November) and 2006 (April and September), combined with the historical data of the wetland in 1990 (September) and 1991 (March), we analyzed seasonal changes in fish species composition and quantity of ichthyoplankton. Thirty-six species of egg and larvae were collected and marine fish species were the highest represented ecological guild. Average fish species and average abundance in spring were lower than in autumn for every survey. The total number of eggs in brackish water was higher than in fresh water, but the total number of larvae and juveniles in brackish water was lower. The abundance of eggs and larvae during from 2005 to 2006 in both spring and autumn was higher compared to those from 1990 to 1991. Obvious differences in species composition in September between 1990 and 2006 were found, especially for Erythroculter ilishaeformis and Neosalanx taihuensis. Fish species composition and quantity within the ichthyoplankton community has obviously changed in the Yangtze estuary over the last 20 years.
