RESUMEN

We determined the complete mitochondrial genomes of Crenidorsum turpiniae, a new record whitefly pest on tea-tree. The mitogenome of C. turpiniae is 15,427 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes and a putative control region (GenBank: MN934936). The whole base composition of the heavy strand for A, C, G and T is 30%, 12.24%, 15.82% and 41.87%, respectively, with an AT bias (-16%). All PCGs use ATN as start codon (N, any nucleotide), except for NAD6 uses TTG. Most of the PCGs use TAA as a stop codon. The length of 16SrRNA and 12SrRNA gene are 1277 bp and 768 bp, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that C. turpiniae and Tetraleurodes acaciae had a closer genetic relationship.

RESUMEN

A new genus, Sphinctogoniella, is described to accommodate Sphinctogonia lingula Yang & Li, 2002, its type species from China. Sphinctogoniella lingula (Yang & Li, 2002), comb. n. is re-described and illustrated. Differences between the new genus and Sphinctogonia Breddin, 1901 are tabulated.

RESUMEN

The leafhopper genus Atkinsoniella was originally established by Distant (1908) for two species with A. decisa as type species. So far, 75 valid species are known worldwide and of these, 63 are from China (Yang et al. 2011). Because Atkinsoniella is a very large and morphologically heterogeneous genus it is desirable to recognize smaller groups of species with distinctive characteristics.

RESUMEN

A review of the genus Cofana Melichar from China is presented. Ten species are recorded, of which two species are new: C. cheni sp. nov. and C. nii sp. nov. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, China (GUGC). In this paper, C. bidentata Krishnankutty & Viraktamath, 2008 is placed as junior synonym of C. yasumatsui Young, 1979. A key of all Chinese species of the genus is provided.

RESUMEN

Three new species of the genus Anatkina Young, 1986 from China are described and illustrated: A. leishanensis sp. nov., A. alata sp. nov. and A. zhangi sp. nov. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, China. In this paper, A. reticulosa Kuoh, 1993 and A. basimacula Kuoh, 1993 are placed as junior synonyms of A. infecta (Distant, 1908) and A. vespertinula (Breddin, 1903), respectively; A. inflammata (Distant, 1908) is recorded as new for China. A key and checklist of all Chinese species of the genus are provided.

RESUMEN

Four new species of Mileewini, Mileewa houhensis Yang, Meng & He, sp. nov., M. xiaofeiae Yang, Meng & He, sp. nov., M. yangi Yang, Meng & He, sp. nov. and Ujna liangae Yang, Meng & He, sp. nov. are described and illustrated. Mileewa nigricauda Yang & Li, 1999 is placed as a junior synonym of M. dorsimaculata (Melichar, 1902); three of the previously described Chinese Mileewa are transferred to the genus Ujna. These are Ujna harpa (Yang & Li, 2004) comb. nov., U. nigrimaculata (Yang & Li, 2004) comb. nov., and U. puerana (Yang & Meng, 2010) comb. nov. M. lynchi (Distant, 1918) is recorded as new for China. A checklist of Mileewini leafhoppers of China along with photograph of their dorsal habitus is provided.

RESUMEN

Newly collected male and female specimens of the leafhopper Kolla albescens Jacobi, 1943 from the type-locality (Northeast China), are identified as Pagaronia albescens (Jacobi), comb. n. (Evacanthinae: Pagaroniini). A redescription of the species is provided together with habitus photographs of the male and female and illustrations of the male and female genitalia. P. continentalis Anufriev, 1970 is placed as a junior synonym of P. albescens syn. n.

RESUMEN

Seasogonia Young, 1986 is a sharpshooter genus with 13 species, four of them recorded from China. In this paper, Seasogonia sandaracata (Distant, 1908) is recorded as new for China and Seasogonia rufipenna Li & Wang, 1992 is regarded as a junior synonym of Seasogonia nigromaculata Kuoh, 1991. The morphological diversity of the female genitalia of Seasogonia is still poorly known. We provide herein detailed descriptions and illustrations of three Chinese Seasogonia species. Notes on the female genitalia of Seasogonia, including intraspecific and interspecific variation, and comparisons between the female genitalia of Seasogonia and of other related genera from China are provided. The preliminary results indicate that the female genitalia may provide useful features for the taxonomy of Seasogonia and other members of the Old World Cicadellini.
