[Retroperitoneal liposarcoma. Apropos of 3 cases]. / Liposarcoma retroperitoneal. A propósito de tres casos.

OBJECTIVE: Three additional cases of retroperitoneal liposarcoma are described, with special reference to the diagnostic utility of CT, although the definitive diagnosis can only be established anatomopathologically. METHODS/RESULTS: Three cases of retroperitonel liposarcoma are described. Two patients had complained of the presence of an abdominal mass and discomfort and one patient had referred colic pain. CONCLUSION: The prognosis of retroperitoneal liposarcoma is closely related to the histological type and involvement of the adjacent structures. The most common clinical feature is the sensation of an abdominal mass and discomfort.

[Intratumor and retroperitoneal massive hemorrhage caused by retroperitoneal liposarcoma]. / Hemorragia intratumoral y retroperitoneal masiva por liposarcoma retroperitoneal.

Case report of a giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma which presented with a picture of acute abdomen resulting from a massive tumoral haemorrhage. Diagnosis was achieved by ECO and CT, and was confirmed by Pathological Anatomy. Treatment was surgical, performing tumour removal plus polar nephrectomy of the affected side. The patient evolution was favourable. The standard methods of diagnosis and prognostic factors are commented.

[The aortopulmonary window. A report of 4 cases]. / Ventana aortopulmonar. Reporte de 4 casos.

The aortopulmonary window is a rare congenital disease in which the aorta and pulmonary arteries are communicated by a defect of variable diameter. We review the clinical picture, diagnosis, associated lesions and treatment of four patients with this disease in a period between 1980 and 1990. Two patients had a distal and two a proximal type. There were associated lesions in three patients: Aortic arch interruption type A, patent ductus arteriosus, subaortic stenosis and a ventricular defect. All patients underwent surgical correction of a communication between 12 and 15 mm of diameter. We discuss diagnostic problems and treatment of this congenital disease.

[Role of adenosine in the digitalis action on atrio-ventricular conduction in the dog heart]. / Participación de la adenosina en la acción digitalica sobre la conducción auriculo-ventricular del corazón canino.

In order to explore the hypothesis about the existence of an adenylic component on ouabain effects on the atrioventricular node, we perform experiments on anesthetized and vagotomized dogs. Decremental propagation of impulses through atrioventricular conduction system was evaluated stimulating the right atria at frequencies from 3.5 to 5.0 per second. Aminophylline antagonized and dipyridamole synergized the atrioventricular decremental conduction induced by digitalis. The blockade of purinergic receptors produced by aminophylline and the inhibition of adenosine endocytosis by dipyridamole could explain these antagonic and synergistic interaction with ouabain, and constitute an experimental evidence favorable to the possibility of the existence of a purinergic component on the digitalis mechanism of action.
