Elevated Fulminant Index (FI), [plasma glucose (PG)/glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)], was reportedly a sensitive index to differentiate fulminant type 1 diabetes (FT1D) from non-fulminant T1D (nFT1D). Aim of this study was to describe a better, but simpler index of FT1D. 49 and 52 patients with FT1D and nFT1D, respectively, were registered, and the discriminating ability of the rounded, normalized ratio, [PG (mmol/L) - 5.0]/[HbA1c (%) - 5.0], and the original ratio, [PG (mmol/L)]/[HbA1c (%)], was compared. Normalizing the ratio significantly raised its accuracy: area under the curve for receiver operating curve, AUROC (95%CI), 0.927 (0.858-0.964) and 0.851 (0.763-0.910), respectively, with and without the normalization (p < 0.01). Rounding of the figure into [PG (mmol/L) - 5.0]/[HbA1c (%) - 5.0] did not significantly sacrifice the discriminating ability of the index. Namely, the optimal cut point of rounded and normalized GAR, 10.0, showed 89.8% sensitivity. In conclusion, rounded, normalized (rn) GAR ≥10 (the rounded optimal cut-off) could be used for the snap diagnosis of FT1D.

INTRODUCTION: Iatrogenic hypoglycaemia is an event that should be avoided in the treatment of diabetes, but the pathophysiology thereof has been poorly examined and reported. There is no established method for preventing iatrogenic hypoglycaemia and the current approach is a reactive response following onset of the disease. In this study, we aimed to explore the existence of 'hypoglycaemia-vulnerable hours of the day' in patients with type 2 diabetes, with the ultimate goal of preventing the onset of iatrogenic hypoglycaemia by clarifying the time when severe hypoglycaemia is likely to occur. METHODS: Of the 553,201 patients who visited the Critical Care and Emergency Center of Aizawa Hospital between 2008 and 2019, patients with proven hypoglycaemia (blood glucose level <3.0 mmol/L) and those using insulin or oral hypoglycaemic agents for the treatment of type 2 diabetes were included: 146 insulin users and 148 oral hypoglycaemic agent users. Cosinor analysis was employed to identify hypoglycaemia-vulnerable hours of the day. RESULTS: Patients with type 2 diabetes and severe hypoglycaemia had two peaks: at 8:00 and 18:00-19:00. Hypoglycaemia was observed as quadra-peaked in insulin users and double-peaked in oral hypoglycaemic agent users. Single-cosinor analysis revealed that the cycle was 5.83 hours (R=0.417) in insulin users, whereas it was 11.0 hours (R=0.717) in oral hypoglycaemic agent users. In insulin users, a significant periodicity of six hours (P=0.003) was observed in the cosinor detection analysis, and a significant correlation (P<0.05) was present in the cosinor percent rhythmicity analysis. In contrast, in oral hypoglycaemic agent users, a significant periodicity of 11 hours (P=0.03) was ascertained in the cosinor detection analysis, and there was a significant correlation (P<0.001) in the cosinor percent rhythmicity analysis. There were different hypoglycaemia-vulnerable hours of the day in the patients with type 2 diabetes, suggesting an interaction between disease pathophysiology and pharmacology. CONCLUSIONS: These results can help elucidate the trend of the development of iatrogenic hypoglycaemia and contribute to the prevention of the onset thereof.

Patients with diffuse congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI) refractory to drug therapy require subtotal or near-total pancreatectomy. Although almost all patients develop diabetes postoperatively, the clinical course and timing of insulin therapy remain unclear. A 7-yr-old girl presented with recurrent hypoglycemia shortly after birth and a relatively elevated insulin level, which confirmed the diagnosis of CHI. Genetic analysis revealed compound heterozygous ATP-binding cassette, Subfamily C, Member 8 pathogenic variants and diffuse CHI was suspected. Because her condition was refractory to diazoxide and octreotide, she underwent a subtotal pancreatectomy at the age of 4 mo. The drug therapy was discontinued. Although an oral glucose tolerance test at the age of 2 yr showed hyperglycemia after loading, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) revealed that her daily glucose trends were almost within the 70-180 mg/dL range, and mild hypoglycemia appeared during the daytime. After the age of 6 yr, CGM showed an elevation in glucose trends from midnight to early morning, suggesting that insulin secretion was attenuated and hepatic glucose production was insufficiently suppressed. Insulin therapy was initiated at the age of 7 yr. These results indicate that CGM can be useful for making treatment decisions.

Inborn errors of bile acid metabolism (IEBAM) cause cholestasis during the neonatal period, and 8 types of IEBAM have been reported to date. IEBAM accounts for approximately 2% of cases of cholestasis of unknown cause. As only 10 patients have been identified in Japan, IEBAM presents diagnostic challenges due to the similarity of clinical symptoms with biliary atresia, thus necessitating precise differentiation to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures. Laboratory tests in IEBAM are characterized by normal γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) and serum total bile acid (STBA) levels despite the presence of cholestasis; therefore, measuring STBA and GGT is essential to distinguishing biliary atresia from IEBAM. With suspected IEBAM, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis of urinary bile acids is needed to optimize diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy and avoid open cholangiography and initiate treatment for primary bile acids such as cholic acid or chenodeoxycholic acid. This prospective report aims to increase awareness of IEBAM by highlighting the characteristics of general blood test and bile acid profiles from LC/MS analyses of blood, urine, and stool samples.

Myoclonus-dystonia syndrome (MDS) presents with both rapid myoclonus and dystonia, which is caused by mutations in the sarcoglycan (SGCE) gene. However, its complications and management remain unclear. Here, we report a case involving a girl with MDS due to a 7q21.13-q21.3 microdeletion complicated by early-onset multiple cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs). The patient presented with myoclonus and dystonia at two and eight years of age, respectively. In addition to MDS, the patient developed growth hormone (GH) deficiency and mild intellectual disability. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed multiple CCMs. Array-based comparative genomic hybridization revealed 7q21.13-21.3 microdeletion. The deletion size was 4.11 Mb, which included SCGE and KRIT1. After the introduction of zonisamide, both myoclonus and dystonia showed improvement, and GH therapy led to an increase in patient height. In cases of MDS, multiple early-onset CCMs and GH deficiency may occur; moreover, careful follow-up management may be necessary.

Central congenital hypothyroidism (CH) can occur as an isolated deficiency or as part of combined pituitary hormone deficiency. Unlike primary CH, central CH cannot be detected by newborn screening (NBS) using dry filter paper blood TSH levels, and early diagnosis remains challenging. In this study, the clinical and genetic backgrounds of patients with isolated central CH were determined through a questionnaire-based survey among members of the Japanese Society for Pediatric Endocrinology. The known causes of isolated central CH were studied in 14 patients, including six with previously reported patient data. The results revealed IGSF1 and TBL1X pathogenic variants in nine and one patient, respectively. All six patients with low free thyroxine (FT4) levels detected in NBS carried IGSF1 pathogenic variants. Five patients with isolated central CH diagnosed after 3 months of age were variant-negative, except for one female patient with a heterozygous IGSF1 variant. Two of the four variant-negative patients and a variant-positive patient were diagnosed with pituitary hypoplasia. One and two patients with IGSF1 variant had obesity and intellectual disability, respectively. Left amblyopia was identified in the patient with a TBL1X variant. The study revalidated that IGSF1 variants comprise the most frequent pathogenic variant in patients with isolated central CH in Japan. The neonatal period is the optimal time for the diagnosis of central CH, particularly IGSF1 abnormalities, and the introduction of T4 screening should be considered in the future, taking cost-effectiveness into consideration.

OBJECTIVE: Somapacitan is a long-acting growth hormone (GH) derivative developed for the treatment of GH deficiency (GHD). This study evaluates the efficacy and tolerability of somapacitan in Japanese children with GHD after 104 weeks of treatment and after switch from daily GH. DESIGN: Subanalysis on Japanese patients from a randomised, open-labelled, controlled parallel-group phase 3 trial (REAL4, NCT03811535). PATIENTS AND MEASUREMENTS: Thirty treatment-naïve patients were randomised 2:1 to somapacitan (0.16 mg/kg/week) or daily GH (0.034 mg/kg/day) up to Week 52, after which all patients received somapacitan. Height velocity (HV; cm/year) at Weeks 52 and 104 were the primary measurements. Additional assessments included HV SD score (SDS), height SDS, bone age, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) SDS, and observer-reported outcomes. RESULTS: At Week 52, observed mean HV was similar between treatment groups (10.3 vs. 9.8 cm/year for somapacitan and daily GH, respectively). Similar HVs between groups were also observed at Week 104: 7.4 cm/year after continuous somapacitan treatment (soma/soma) and 7.9 cm/year after 1-year somapacitan treatment following switch from daily GH (switch). Other height-related endpoints supported continuous growth. IGF-I SDS increased in both groups with mean IGF-I SDS within -2 and +2 during the study. Somapacitan was well tolerated, one mild injection site reaction was reported, with no reports of injection site pain. Patient preference questionnaires showed that most patients and their caregivers (90.9%) who switched treatment at Week 52 preferred once-weekly somapacitan over daily GH treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Somapacitan showed sustained efficacy in Japanese children with GHD over 104 weeks and for 52 weeks after switching from daily GH. Somapacitan was well tolerated and preferred over daily GH.

Δ4-3-Oxosteroid 5ß-reductase (AKR1D1) deficiency typically causes severe cholestasis occurs in newborns, leading to death unless patients are treated with primary bile acids. However, we encountered an AKR1D1 deficiency patient treated with only ursodeoxycholic acid who had cholestasis until about 1 year of age but then grew up healthy without further treatment. We also have been following other healthy patients with AKR1D1 mutation who have never developed cholestasis and have not been treated. However, reports are few, involving 3 patients. To better understand and clinically manage a diverse group of patients with AKR1D1 mutation who do not develop potentially fatal cholestasis in the neonatal period, ongoing accumulation and study of informative cases is needed.

Context: Growth hormone (GH) replacement therapy improves longitudinal growth and adult height in children with GH deficiency (GHD). GH stimulates insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I release, the biomarker used for monitoring GH activity during treatment. Objective: This study aims to provide model-based insights into the dose-IGF-I responses of once-weekly somapacitan, a novel long-acting GH, compared with daily GH in children with GHD. Methods: Analyses included dosing information and 1473 pharmacokinetic samples from 210 somapacitan-treated pediatric patients with GHD across 3 trials, including phase 1 (NCT01973244), phase 2 (NCT02616562; REAL 3), and phase 3 (NCT03811535; REAL 4), as well as 1381 IGF-I samples from 186 patients with GHD treated with somapacitan in REAL 3 and REAL 4. Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling to characterize somapacitan dose-IGF-I response and predict the response to dosing day changes. Results: Relationships were established between somapacitan dose, exposure, change from baseline IGF-I SD score (SDS), and height velocity (HV). A linear model permitted the development of a tool to calculate estimated average weekly IGF-I exposure from a single IGF-I sample obtained at any time within the somapacitan dosing interval at steady state. In practice, the use of this tool requires knowledge of somapacitan injection timing relative to IGF-I sample collection timing. IGF-I SDS simulations support flexible dosing day changes while maintaining at least 4 days between doses. Conclusion: We characterized the dose-IGF-I response of somapacitan in children with GHD. To support physicians in IGF-I monitoring, we present a practical guide about expected weekly average IGF-I concentrations in these patients and provide insights on dosing day flexibility.

OBJECTIVE: To examine whether it is possible to screen for bile acid synthesis disorders (BASDs) including peroxisome biogenesis disorder 1a (PBD1A) and Niemann-Pick type C1 (NPC1) at the time of newborn mass screening by measuring the intermediary metabolites of bile acid (BA) synthesis. METHODS: Patients with 3ß-hydroxy-ΔSuchy et al. (2021)5-C27-steroid dehydrogenase/isomerase (HSD3B7) deficiency (n = 2), 3-oxo-ΔPandak and Kakiyama (n.d.)4-steroid 5ß-reductase (SRD5B1) deficiency (n = 1), oxysterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7B1) deficiency (n = 1), PBD1A (n = 1), and NPC1 (n = 2) with available dried blood spot (DBS) samples collected in the neonatal period were included. DBSs from healthy neonates at 4 days of age (n = 1055) were also collected for the control. Disease specific BAs were measured by newly optimized liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry with short run cycle (5-min/run). The results were validated by comparing with those obtained by the conventional condition with longer run cycle (76-min/run). RESULTS: In healthy specimens, taurocholic acid and cholic acid were the two major BAs which constituted approximately 80% in the measured BAs. The disease marker BAs presented <10%. In BASDs, the following BAs were determined for the disease specific markers: Glyco/tauro 3ß,7α,12α-trihydroxy-5-cholenoic acid 3-sulfate for HSD3B7 deficiency (>70%); glyco/tauro 7α,12α-dihydroxy-3-oxo-4-cholenoic acid for SRD5B1 deficiency (54%); tauro 3ß-hydroxy-5-cholenoic acid 3-sulfate for CYP7B1 deficiency (94%); 3α,7α,12α-trihydroxy-5ß-cholestanoic acid for PBD1A (78%); and tauro 3ß,7ß-dihydroxy-5-cholenoic acid 3-sulfate for NPC1 (26%). *The % in the parenthesis indicates the portion found in the patient's specimen. CONCLUSIONS: Early postnatal screening for BASDs, PBD1A and NPC1 is feasible with the described DBS-based method by measuring disease specific BAs. The present method is a quick and affordable test for screening for these inherited diseases.

CONTEXT: Somapacitan is a long-acting GH derivative for treatment of GH deficiency (GHD). OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of somapacitan in children with GHD after 2 years of treatment and after the switch from daily GH. DESIGN: A randomized, multinational, open-labelled, controlled parallel group phase 3 trial, comprising a 52-week main phase and 3-year safety extension (NCT03811535). SETTING: Eighty-five sites across 20 countries. PATIENTS: A total of 200 treatment-naïve prepubertal patients were randomized and exposed; 194 completed the 2-year period. INTERVENTIONS: Patients were randomized 2:1 to somapacitan (0.16 mg/kg/wk) or daily GH (0.034 mg/kg/d) during the first year, after which all patients received somapacitan 0.16 mg/kg/wk. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Height velocity (HV; cm/year) at week 104. Additional assessments included HV SD score (SDS), height SDS, IGF-I SDS, and observer-reported outcomes. RESULTS: HV was sustained in both groups between 52 and 104 weeks. At week 104, mean (SD) for HV between weeks 52 and 104 was 8.4 (1.5) cm/year after continuous somapacitan treatment and 8.7 (1.8) cm/year after 1 year of somapacitan treatment following switch from daily GH. Secondary height-related endpoints also supported sustained growth. Mean IGF-I SDS during year 2 was similar between groups and within normal range (-2 to +2). Somapacitan was well tolerated, with no safety or tolerability issues identified. GH patient preference questionnaire results show that most patients and their caregivers (90%) who switched treatment at year 2 preferred once-weekly somapacitan over daily GH treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Somapacitan in children with GHD showed sustained efficacy and tolerability for 2 years, and after switching from daily GH. Patients/caregivers switching from daily GH expressed a preference for somapacitan. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT03811535.

Prevention of hypoglycemia is an important strategy for glycemic management in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D). Hypoglycemia is difficult to recognize at night while sleeping, particularly when using multiple daily injection (MDI) insulin therapy rather than sensor-augmented insulin-pump therapy. Therefore, it is possible that patients with T1D are at higher risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia when insulin is administered using an MDI regimen. We investigated nocturnal hypoglycemia in 50 pediatric patients with T1D on MDI insulin therapy using data from an intermittently scanned continuous glucose monitoring (isCGM) system. Hypoglycemia was observed on 446 of the 1,270 nights studied. Most of the hypoglycemic episodes were severe (blood glucose <54 mg/dL). On nights when hypoglycemia occurred, the blood glucose concentrations measured using finger-stick blood glucose monitoring (FSGM) before sleep and the next morning were lower than nights when hypoglycemia did not occur. However, few values were below the normal blood glucose range, suggesting that FSGM alone may be insufficient to detect nocturnal hypoglycemia. Approximately 7% of time was spent below the normal glucose range during the 10 hours from 21:00 to 7:00 the next morning. This result suggests that the patients on MDI insulin therapy could end up spending more time in hypoglycemia than is recommended by the American Diabetes Association (time below range <4.0% of time per day). Monitoring glucose levels overnight using an isCGM sensor may improve glycemic management via automatic detection of blood glucose peaks and troughs.

AIMS/INTRODUCTION: To investigate the genetic background of Japanese patients with suspected maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). MATERIALS AND METHODS: On 340 proband patients referred from across Japan, genomic variants were analyzed using a targeted multigene panel analysis combined with the multiplex ligation probe amplification (MLPA) analysis, mitochondrial m.3243A > G analysis and methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction of the imprinted 6q24 locus. Pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants were listed according to the 2015 American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the Association for Molecular Pathology criteria. Additionally, variants with a population frequency <0.001 and Combined Annotation Dependent Depletion score >20 (CS >20) were listed as rare variants of uncertain significance-CS >20. RESULTS: A total of 157 pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants and 44 rare variants of uncertain significance-CS >20 were identified. In the pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants, alterations in the GCK gene were the most common (82, 52.2%) followed by HNF1A (29, 18.5%), HNF4A (13, 8.3%) and HNF1B (13, 8.3%). One patient was a 29.5% mosaic with a truncating INSR variant. In the rare variants of uncertain significance-CS >20, 20 (45.5%) were in the genes coding for the adenosine triphosphate-sensitive potassium channel, KCNJ11 or ABCC8, and four were in the genes of the insulin-signaling pathway, INSR and PIK3R1. Four variants in ABCC8 were previously reported in patients with congenital hyperinsulinism, suggesting the inactivating nature of these variants, and at least two of our patients had a history of congenital hyperinsulinism evolving into diabetes. In two patients with INSR or PIK3R1 variants, insulin resistance was evident at diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS: Causative genomic variants could be identified in at least 46.2% of clinically suspected MODY patients. ABCC8-MODY with inactivating variants could represent a distinct category of MODY. Genes of insulin resistance should be included in the sequencing panel for MODY.

Maternal obesity and malnutrition during gestation and lactation have been recognized to increase the risk of obesity and metabolic disorders in the offspring across their lifespan. However, the gestational period during which malnutrition exerts a decisive effect is unclear. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) plays a critical role in energy metabolism owing to its high efficiency in oxidizing glucose and fatty acids. This study aimed to determine the impact of maternal high-fat diet (HFD) consumption only during pregnancy on BAT and energy metabolism in offspring mice. Dams were fed an HFD or a normal chow diet from embryonic day 2.5. HFD consumption during pregnancy induced glucose intolerance and hypertension in dams. In the offspring of HFD-fed dams, maternal HFD lowered fetal weight without affecting placental weight, whereas HFD consumption after birth exacerbated oxygen consumption and cold-induced thermogenesis at 12 months of age, accompanied by increased lipid droplet size in BAT. These data demonstrate that HFD consumption only during pregnancy exerts a long-lasting effect on BAT. Collectively, these findings indicate the importance of nutrition during pregnancy with respect to the energy metabolism of the offspring, and pregnant women should thus ensure proper nutrition during pregnancy to ensure normal energy metabolism in the offspring.

Genetic factors play critical roles in the onset and progression of obesity. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) activity is also critical for adiposity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and effects of BAT gene polymorphisms in pediatric obesity. This case-control study included 270 non-obese and 86 obese children. All participants underwent genotyping for type 2 deiodinase (DIO2) Thr92Ala (rs225014). The prevalence of the homozygous Ala/Ala allele of the DIO2 gene in the obese group was 15.1% versus 6.3% in the non-obese group, resulting in an odds ratio (OR) of 3.393 (p = 0.003). The results of this study indicate that the homozygous Ala/Ala allele of the DIO2 gene is associated with an increased risk of pediatric obesity and suggest that pediatric obesity might be suitable for assessing the association with gene polymorphisms related to BAT, especially DIO2 Thr92Ala.

Identifying promising research as early as possible is vital to determine which research deserves investment. Additionally, developing a technology for automatically predicting future research trends is necessary because of increasing digital publications and research fragmentation. In previous studies, many researchers have performed the prediction of scientific indices using specially designed features for each index. However, this does not capture real research trends. It is necessary to develop a more integrated method to capture actual research trends from various directions. Recent deep learning technology integrates different individual models and makes it easier to construct more general-purpose models. The purpose of this paper is to show the possibility of integrating multiple prediction models for scientific indices by network-based representation learning. This paper will conduct predictive analysis of multiple future scientific impacts by embedding a heterogeneous network and showing that a network embedding method is a promising tool for capturing and expressing scientific trends. Experimental results show that the multiple heterogeneous network embedding improved 1.6 points than a single citation network embedding. Experimental results show better results than baseline for the number of indices, including the author h-index, the journal impact factor (JIF), and the Nature Index after three years from publication. These results suggest that distributed representations of a heterogeneous network for scientific papers are the basis for the automatic prediction of scientific trends.

CONTEXT: Somapacitan, a once-weekly reversible albumin-binding GH derivative, is evaluated in children with GH deficiency (GHD). OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate efficacy and safety of somapacitan vs daily GH. METHODS: REAL4 is a randomised, multinational, open-labeled, active-controlled parallel group phase 3 trial, comprising a 52-week main trial and 3-year extension (NCT03811535). SETTING: Eighty-six sites across 20 countries. PATIENTS: 200 treatment-naïve patients were randomized and exposed. INTERVENTIONS: Patients were randomized 2:1 to somapacitan (0.16â mg/kg/wk) or daily GH (Norditropin; 0.034â mg/kg/d), administered subcutaneously. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary endpoint was annualized height velocity (HV; cm/y) at week 52. Additional assessments included HV SD score (SDS), height SDS, bone age, IGF-I SDS, patient-reported outcomes, and safety measures. RESULTS: Estimated mean HV at week 52 was 11.2 and 11.7â cm/y for somapacitan and daily GH, respectively. Noninferiority was confirmed. Changes in HV SDS, height SDS, bone age, and IGF-I SDS from baseline to week 52 were similar between treatment groups. At week 52, mean IGF-I SDS values were similar between treatment groups and within normal range (-2 to +2). Safety of somapacitan was consistent with the well-known daily GH profile. Low proportions of injection-site reactions were reported for somapacitan (5.3%) and daily GH (5.9%). Both treatments similarly reduced disease burden from baseline to week 52, whereas a greater treatment burden reduction was observed for somapacitan. CONCLUSIONS: Similar efficacy for somapacitan compared to daily GH was demonstrated over 52 weeks of treatment with comparable safety and mean IGF-I SDS levels in treatment-naïve children with GHD.

Recently, oral hypoglycemic agents with newer glucose lowering mechanisms have been on release. This is mostly to meet the diabetic patient's need to avoid hypoglycemia, which is profoundly important for better long-term outcome of the treatment. In this study, we quantified the annual number of patients with type 2 diabetes who experienced hypoglycemia needing the third-party assistance who had random sample plasma glucose<59.4 mg/dl (3.3 mmol/l) on the one hand and analyzed the prescription trend of hypoglycemic agents all over Japan on the other. Analysis of the annual number of hypoglycemic patients visited ER was performed at Aizawa Hospital, a medical center located in the midst of a city. The study duration was over 10 years from 2008 to 2019. We found a clear-cut decreasing trend of hypoglycemia over the 10 years, ca. 61/year to 39/year. Immediately after the release of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors, since 2013 to 2017, the decrease was rather sharp as 81/year to 31/year, and the change of the national number of its prescription inversely correlated with the change of the number of the patients with hypoglycemia. This was not the case immediately after the introduction of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors in the Japanese market since 2008 to 2012. There was no significant correlation between its prescription and the number of patients with hypoglycemia. The data strongly suggested that there was a causal relationship exclusively between the introduction of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor, and the reduction of hypoglycemic events among patients with type 2 diabetes.
