Aims: This study was performed to understand the Indonesian population's characteristics and the factors that contribute to a more positive attitude toward participation in a clinical trial. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 402 COVID-19 vaccine trial participants in Semarang, Indonesia, utilizing self-reporting questionnaires consisting of questions related to socio-demographic characteristics and statements in a 5-scaled Likert Scale to assess the attitude toward vaccine trial. The odds for positive attitude were analyzed using Ordinal Logistic Regression to obtain the odd-ratio and 95% confidence interval. The P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Most of the respondents were adults aged 22-64-year-old (89.30%), males (63.68%), married (77.61%), worked as an employee (59.70%), obtained information about the clinical trial from the Public Health Service (41.29%), had a low education level (40.80%), a low monthly income level (68.41%), with no previous participation in a clinical trial (90.80%). All respondents showed a good attitude toward the trial, with low education level, nonemployment status, fewer or no previous participation in clinical trials, and getting the information from the public health centers were the main predictors for better attitude toward vaccine trials. Conclusion: There was a positive attitude toward vaccine trials in the Indonesian population. The positive attitude could be driven by having a low education level, nonemployment status, fewer or no previous participation in the clinical trial, and getting information from public health centers.

Background and Aim: Healthy meat production is an important aspect of increasing sheep productivity. This study aimed to examine the influence of protected kapok seed oil (KSO) in combination with choline chloride (CC) on the feed utilization, lipid status, and performance of thin-tailed sheep. Materials and Methods: Thirty male thin-tailed sheep (approximately 6 months old, with an average body weight of 12.59 ± 1.48 kg) were divided into six treatment groups (five heads/treatment). Factor 1 consisted of two treatments: K1 (KSO supplementation at 10% supplementation and 75% protection level) and K0 (without KSO supplementation). Factor 2 consisted of three levels of CC: (C0: 0%; C1: 1.5% and C2: 3% feed dry matter (DM) basis supplementation levels). The variables measured were the DM consumption, DM digestibility, organic matter digestibility, nitrogen retention, daily body weight gain (DBWG), and blood and meat lipid status. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance in a completely randomized design in a factorial pattern of 2 × 3 × 5. Results: Choline chloride supplementation (up to 3%) increased DM consumption in the K0C2 group. The CC and protected KSO (K1C2) supplementation combination resulted in the highest DM consumption level (p < 0.05). The protected KSO supplementation increased DBWG (the DBWG in the K1C0 group was higher than that in the K0C0 group, and the highest DBWG was found in the K1C2 group) (p < 0.05). Protected KSO and CC supplementation decreased cholesterol levels and increased the relative proportion of linoleic acid in meat (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Combined supplementation with protected KSO and CC improved the feed utilization and performance of male thin-tailed sheep. There were increases in DBWG, decreases in intramuscular fat and cholesterol levels, and increases in meat linoleic acid levels.

(1) Background: Methylmercury (MeHg) exposure during pregnancy is an important issue due to its possible adverse health effects on fetus. To contribute the development of assessment system of Hg exposure through fish consumption and health effects on children, we examined the hair Hg levels in pregnant women and birth weight and length. (2) Methods: In 2018, a cohort study was conducted on 118 pregnant women-infant pairs from six community health centers in the northern coastal area in Central Java Indonesia. Data on mothers' characteristics during pregnancy, birth outcomes, and fish consumption were collected. Total Hg concentrations were determined from hair samples. (3) Results: The median (min-max) of the maternal hair Hg level was 0.434 (0.146-8.105) µg/g. Pregnant women living in lowland areas, near the sea, showed higher hair Hg concentration and fish consumption than those in highland areas {[0.465 (0.146-8.105) vs. 0.385 (0.150-1.956) µg/g; p = 0.043] and [(85.71 (0-500.0) vs. 49.76 (0.0-428.57) g/day; p < 0.01], respectively}. The maternal hair Hg level had no association with baby's birth weight and length. (4) Conclusions: The median maternal hair Hg is at a low level and had no association with infant birth weight and length in this study subjects.

Secondary metabolites of actinomycetes are a potential source of bioactive compounds in the agricultural sector. This study aimed to determine the fungicidal properties of extracts of marine organism-derived actinomycetes. Actinomycetes were isolated from marine organisms using agar media with 1% colloidal chitin in artificial seawater. Then, the isolates were cultured on liquid media with 1% colloidal chitin in artificial seawater under static conditions for 14 days. The culture was extracted, the fungicide properties were evaluated using the microtiter 96-well plate method, and the influence of inhibition was visualized using apotome and SEM. Finally, the active extract was analyzed using LCMSMS. In the present study, 19 actinomycetes were isolated from marine organisms, and the isolates were examined with regard to their antifungal activities. Of these nineteen isolates, the isolate 19C38A1 was picked out from the rest. Hence, it showed significant control towards F. oxysporum. The prospective strain 19C38A1 was determined to be Kocuria palustris 19C38A1. The extract 19C38A1 was shown to cause damage to cell integrity, indicated by the shrinking form, and inhibited germination in the F. oxysporum; subsequently, the chemical characteristics of the compound produced by the potential isolate 19C38A1 indicated the presence of benzimidazole compounds in the active fraction of C38BK2FA. These results indicate that actinomycetes derived from marine organisms near the coast of Oluhuta, Tomini Bay, Gorontalo, related to strain 19C38A1, are not widely known as sources of valuable fungicides. This preliminary information is important, as it can be used as a basis for further development in the search for fungicides derived from marine actinomycetes.

Health status of workers are crucial to maintain their productivity and it will impact on output per capita. This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition and health intervention in workplace setting and implication for further research. Articles were searched from PubMed, PMC, Cochrane Library (Trial), Science-direct, and Google scholar published from 2005-2020. Inclusion criteria was the intervention subject aged 19-64 years old with experimental randomized control trial (RCT) or non-RCT study design. Several keywords used for literature searching including "nutrition education in workplace", "nutrition intervention in workplace", and "workplace intervention". Data were narratively described. Eleven studies were meet inclusion and exclusion criteria and further be reviewed. Five studies focused on intervene food environment in the workplace, four studies focused on nutrition education using different channels i.e., workplace visiting and emails, the other two interventions were objected to decrease health risk regarding occupational health. Positive outcomes were recorded for all workplace intervention, including increase in nutrition knowledge, self-efficacy, reduce risky behavior, and also improved body mass index and blood biomarkers. Workplace nutrition and health intervention proved to be an effective way to enhanced balanced nutrition behavior and improve health status. This study implies an urgency of nutrition and health intervention in a workplace.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Healthy goat meat is an essential aspect in increasing consumer acceptance for this livestock product. The research aimed to examine the effect of goat meat containing low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acid on the performance and blood lipid status of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty 2-month-old male white rats (R. norvegicus) weighing 195-230 g were randomly divided into three groups, with each group consisting of 10 rats. Group I was treated with a control feed (T0; BR I concentrate). Group II (T1) was treated with a mixed feed containing 50% control feed and 50% goat meat. Group III (T2) was treated with a mixed feed comprising 50% control feed and 50% goat meat with low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acids. Each treatment was given ad libitum for 30 days. The variables measured were dry matter and organic matter consumption, daily body weight gain, feed conversion, triglyceride levels, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and atherogenic index (AI). The data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance in a completely randomized design. RESULTS: The total, HDL, and LDL cholesterol levels at T0, T1, and T2 were as follows: 99.97, 35.97, and 50.43 mg/dL (total cholesterol); 108.35, 33.92, and 58.17 mg/dL (HDL cholesterol); and 101.43, 38.09, and 48.65 mg/dL (LDL cholesterol). The highest HDL and the lowest LDL cholesterol levels (p<0.05) were observed in the T2 treatment group, which had the lowest AI (1.69 vs. 1.77 and 2.19). CONCLUSION: The consumption of goat with low cholesterol and rich omega-6 fatty acids reduces the total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, raises the HDL cholesterol levels, and decreases the AI.
