RESUMEN

Introduction: Tricalcium silicate-based cements exhibit several beneficial properties for dental health and biocompatibility, which can induce biomineralisation. Objectives: To assess the sealing ability and intratubular penetration of tricalcium silicate-based sealers using warm and cold obturation techniques. Materials and Methods: An electronic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases for endodontically treated teeth with bioceramics and their sealing capacity in root canal obturation published up to February 2023. Results: Of the 90 articles, 16 met the inclusion criteria, and only 10 were used for the meta-analysis, of which four addressed intratubular penetration, four addressed sealing capacity, and two addressed both variables. In the sealing capacity group, the meta-analysis concluded a standardised mean difference (SMD) of -1.31 in favour of the test group (warm) with a certain nonsignificant trend (p = 0.081); regarding intratubular penetration, the meta-analysis concluded an SMD = 2.34 in favour of the test group (warm) with significantly greater penetration (p = 0.032). Conclusion: The warm obturation technique introduced significantly greater intratubular penetration than the cold technique, along with a remarkably superior sealing capacity compared to the cold technique, approaching statistical significance.

Introduction: Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a developmental defect that predominantly targets the first permanent molars and incisors and consists of hypomineralisation of the enamel. A range of treatment options are available to improve aesthetics in this condition, including resin infiltration, bleaching techniques, restorations, microabrasion, and laser therapy. Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to analyse the effects of treatments on changes in enamel colour in teeth with MIH lesions and determine whether resin infiltration is the most aesthetic treatment. Material and Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted on PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, and Scopus databases until December 2022. The addressed PICO question was: "Is resin Infiltration the most effective treatment for restoring aesthetics in comparison to other treatments in patients with Molar incisor hypomineralisation?''. In addition, a meta-analysis was conducted with the selected studies to integrate the information using R.51 software (R Core Team (2013)). Results: In total, 678 articles were obtained from the initial search, of which 11 met the inclusion criteria. Seven studies concluded that resin infiltration was the most successful treatment method in the aesthetic rehabilitation of MIH lesions. Six of the eleven articles were included in the meta-analysis, which indicated that the treatments generated substantial colour changes. Conclusions: This systematic review and meta-analysis provided significant data suggesting that resin infiltration is the most effective treatment for achieving aesthetic improvements in MIH lesions, with the meta-analysis providing a significant result (p = 0.051) in favour of the hypothesis.

BACKGROUND: The success of endodontic treatment derives from the complete elimination of microorganisms capable of causing an intraradicular or extraradicular infection. To achieve a more effective eradication of these microorganisms, endodontic instrumentation must always be implemented with abundant irrigation, which has to achieve chemical, mechanical and biological effects. The irrigators most used today are NaOCl, CHX and EDTA, released into the ducts through different techniques such as syringe, manual agitation, positive or negative apical pressure, sonic or ultrasonic activation, PIPS and PDT. The objective of this review is to update the different irrigating solutions and intracanal disinfection drugs, as well as to establish an irrigation protocol in the endodontic treatment. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Systematic search of scientific articles in the databases PubMed, Medline and Google Scholar, with the following keywords Endodontic, Infection, Failure, Irrigation, Retreatment and Irrigation protocol. The exclusion criteria were "case report" articles and articles with a publication date prior to 2000. RESULTS: 48 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Comparing the different articles it can be seen that the NaOCl is the "gold standard" in terms of immediate antimicrobial efficacy, followed by the CHX that has a long-term antibacterial effect. As an intra-conductive drug it is advisable to use the combination of Ca(OH)2 with CPMC. CONCLUSIONS: The most adequate irrigation protocol consists of using 2.5% NaOCl activated with ultrasound followed by a final wash with 7% MA or 0.2% CTR combined with 2% CHX. BACKGROUND: The apexification is the first alternative treatment on a permanent tooth when, after a tooth trauma and in the presence of immature apex trauma, pulp necrosis occurs. Many studies have demonstrated the efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) as apical sealing material of choice in these cases, but has a degree of filtration as all other materials. The objective of this study was to analyze the seal ability of MTA on the duct walls in immature teeth unirradicular apexes, using indirect vibration. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was conducted on 45 teeth divided into 3 groups: Group A or control group in which no vibration for placing the MTA was used, Group B and C or groups where indirect vibration analysis was used. All samples were immersed in methylene blue to assess filtration. After performing longitudinal cuts millimetric measuring were made of the degree of filtration, divided into 3 degrees (2mm each grade filtration). RESULTS: Results obtained confirm our hypothesis, obtaining lesser degree of filtration those groups in which indirect vibration (Groups B and C) was performed. It was shown that the degree of filtration is closely linked to the degree of adaptation. CONCLUSIONS: MTA vibration offers better results in its adaptation to the canal walls, significantly reducing the degree of filtration. KEY WORDS: Apexification, MTA, filtration, indirect vibration.
