RESUMEN

To explore the mechanism of Tiaoqi Xiaowei decoction in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis by network pharmacology and molecular docking. The main active components and targets of Tiaoqi Xiaowei decoction were obtained from TCMSP database. The databases of Disgenet, GeneCards, and OMIM were used to obtain chronic atrophic gastritis-related targets. The component-target-disease network was constructed by Cytoscape 3.7.1 software, and the protein-protein interaction network was constructed by String database. The core targets were screened by CytoNCA plug-in. Gene ontology analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genome pathway enrichment analysis were performed using the Metascape database. The core components and targets were subjected to molecular docking verification using AutoDock Tools 1.5.6 software, and the binding score was obtained. A total of 48 active components were identified, involving 82 action targets. Core active components such as quercetin, beta-sitosterol, kaempferol, luteolin, and naringenin, and core targets such as AKT1, TP53, VEGFA, TNF, IL6, and PTGS2 were obtained. A total of 188 signaling pathways were screened out, including cancer pathway, PI3K-Akt, IL-17, and TNF signaling pathway. Molecular docking results showed that the key components of Tiaoqi Xiaowei decoction had a favorable binding affinity with key targets. Tiaoqi Xiaowei decoction acts on multiple targets such as AKT1, TP53, VEGFA, TNF, IL6, PTGS2, and synergistically treats chronic atrophic gastritis by regulating inflammatory responses and tumor-related signaling pathways.

RESUMEN

Enormous patients with gastric cancer (GC) are insensitive to chemotherapy and targeted therapy without the chance of radical surgery, so immunotherapy may supply a novel choice for them. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has the advantages of higher specificity, stronger lethality, and longer-lasting efficacy, and it has the potential for GC in the future. However, its application still faces numerous obstacles in terms of accuracy, efficacy, and safety. Cytokines can mediate the migration, proliferation, and survival of immune cells, regulate the duration and strength of immune responses, and are involved in the occurrence of severe side effects in CAR-T cell therapy. The expression levels of specific cytokines are associated with the genesis, invasion, metastasis, and prognosis of GC. Applications of cytokines and their receptors in CAR-T cell therapy have emerged, and various cytokines and their receptors have contributed to improving CAR-T cell anti-tumor capabilities. Large amounts of central cytokines in this therapy include chemokines, interleukins (ILs), transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß), and colony-stimulating factors (CSFs). Meanwhile, researchers have explored the combination therapy in treating GC, and several approaches applied to other malignancies can also be considered as references. Therefore, our review comprehensively outlines the biological functions and clinical significance of cytokines and summarizes current advances and innovative strategies for harnessing cytokines to optimize CAR-T cell therapy for GC.

BACKGROUND: Flatfoot is a condition resulting from complex three-dimensional (3D) morphological changes. Most Previous studies have been constrained by using two-dimensional radiographs and non-weight-bearing conditions. The deformity in flatfoot is associated with the 3D morphology of the bone. These morphological changes affect the force line conduction of the hindfoot/midfoot/forefoot, leading to further morphological alterations. Given that a two-dimensional plane axis overlooks the 3D structural information, it is essential to measure the 3D model of the entire foot in conjunction with the definition under the standing position. This study aims to analyze the morphological changes in flatfoot using 3D measurements from weight-bearing CT (WBCT). METHOD: In this retrospective comparative our CT database was searched between 4-2021 and 3-2022. Following inclusion criteria were used: Patients were required to exhibit clinical symptoms suggestive of flatfoot, including painful swelling of the medial plantar area or abnormal gait, corroborated by clinical examination and confirmatory radiological findings on CT or MRI. Healthy participants were required to be free of any foot diseases or conditions affecting lower limb movement. After applying the exclusion criteria (Flatfoot with other foot diseases), CT scans (mean age = 20.9375, SD = 16.1) confirmed eligible for further analysis. The distance, angle in sagittal/transverse/coronal planes, and volume of the two groups were compared on reconstructed 3D models using the t-test. Logistic regression was used to identify flatfoot risk factors, which were then analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curves and nomogram. RESULT: The flatfoot group exhibited significantly lower values for calcaneofibular distance (p = 0.001), sagittal and transverse calcaneal inclination angle (p < 0.001), medial column height (p < 0.001), sagittal talonavicular coverage angle (p < 0.001), and sagittal (p < 0.001) and transverse (p = 0.015) Hibb angle. In contrast, the sagittal lateral talocalcaneal angle (p = 0.013), sagittal (p < 0.001) and transverse (p = 0.004) talocalcaneal angle, transverse talonavicular coverage angle (p < 0.001), coronal Hibb angle (p < 0.001), and sagittal (p < 0.001) and transverse (p = 0.001) Meary's angle were significantly higher in the flatfoot group. The sagittal Hibb angle (B = - 0.379, OR = 0.684) and medial column height (B = - 0.990, OR = 0.372) were identified as significant risk factors for acquiring a flatfoot. CONCLUSION: The findings validate the 3D spatial position alterations in flatfoot. These include the abduction of the forefoot and prolapse of the first metatarsal proximal, the arch collapsed, subluxation of the talonavicular joint in the midfoot, adduction and valgus of the calcaneus, adduction and plantar ward movement of the talus in the hindfoot, along with the first metatarsal's abduction and dorsiflexion in the forefoot.

AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of laparoscopic lateral seminal vesicle approach to preserve the bladder neck during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. METHODS: Between September 2020 and December 2022, we retrospectively analyzed patients with T1-T3b stage prostate cancer treated at our institution using the laparoscopic lateral seminal vesicle approach. We recorded the bladder neck preservation success rate, cystourethral anastomosis time, urinary catheter extraction time, length of hospital stay, and urinary control scores, including urine pad use, at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months post-catheter removal. Adverse events included rectal injury, bladder injury, ureteral injury and positive surgical margins. RESULTS: There were 56 patients (mean age 70 ± 5.8 years) The success rate of bladder neck preservation was 100%. The median cystourethral anastomosis time was 11 (9-14) minutes. The median postoperative hospital stay was 10 (9-11) days. The urinary continence rate was 83.9% (47/56) in 1 week, 89.3% (50/56) in 1 month and 98.2% (55/56) in 3 months. One patient developed adhesions caused by invasion of both seminal vesicles, which damaged the rectal wall. CONCLUSIONS: The laparoscopic lateral seminal vesicle approach can preserve the bladder neck completely during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, improving postoperative urinary continence, with a high rate of immediate urinary continence, and significantly improving patients' quality of life.

To investigate the biomechanical mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and explore the effects of kinesiology taping (KT) on neuromuscular control in HV patients. The study population consisted of 16 young controls (YC group) and 15 patients with hallux valgus (HV group). All subjects underwent a natural velocity gait assessment. Additionally, 11 patients from the HV group received KT intervention over a period of one month, consisting of 15 sessions administered every other day. After the one-month intervention, these patients underwent a gait assessment and were included in the HV-KT group. The electromyography (EMG) and joint motion were evaluated using non-negative matrix factorization (NNMF) to compare the difference in muscle and kinematic synergy among the three groups. The center of plantar pressure (COP) and ground reaction force (GRF) were measured by the force platform. The number of synergies did not differ within the three groups, but the structure of muscle synergies and kinematic synergies differed in the HV group. The KT intervention (HV-KT group) altered the structure of synergies. The correlation between kinematic synergies and muscular synergies was lower in the HV group than in the YC group, whereas the correlation between the two increased after the KT intervention in the HV group. During gait, the HV group tended to activate more muscles around foot joints to maintain body stability. The visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, hallux valgus angle (HVA), and COP were significantly decreased after the intervention ( [Formula: see text]). HV patients exhibited altered kinematic and muscular synergies structures as well as muscle activation. Also, it weakened the balance and athletic ability of HV patients. KT intervention improved neuromuscular control to provide a better gait performance.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the impact of hallux valgus (HV) on lower limb neuromuscular control strategies during the sit-to-stand (STS) movement, and to evaluate the effects of Kinesio taping (KT) intervention on these control strategies in HV patients. METHODS: We included 14 young healthy controls (HY), 13 patients in the HV group (HV), and 11 patients in the HV group (HVI) who underwent a Kinesio taping (KT) intervention during sit-to-stand (STS) motions. We extracted muscle and kinematic synergies from EMG and motion capture data using non-negative matrix factorization (NNMF). In addition, we calculated the center of pressure (COP) and ground reaction forces (GRF) to assess balance performance. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in the numbers of muscle and kinematic synergies between groups. In the HV group, knee flexors and ankle plantar flexors were abnormally activated, and muscle synergy D was differentiated. Muscle synergy D was not differentiated in the HVI group. CONCLUSION: Abnormal activation of knee flexors and plantar flexors led to the differentiation of module D in HV patients, which can be used as an indicator of the progress of HV rehabilitation. KT intervention improved motor control mechanisms in HV patients.

Background: It is widely believed that the Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) is associated with minimal blood loss. However, significant perioperative hidden blood loss (HBL) is frequently unaccounted for. This study aimed to investigate HBL and peri-operative factors contributing to HBL in a series of individuals undergoing PELD. Method: ology: A total of 156 consecutive patients with a mean age of 43.6 years (ranging from 18 to 80 years) who underwent PELD at our department from May 2019 to November 2020, were included in the study. Factors including gender, age, body mass index, symptom duration, operation approach/technique, operation duration, the presence of associated chronic diseases, and improvements in the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score, Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were analyzed, and Gross's formula was applied to calculate blood loss, which was used to determine HBL. Results: The average total blood loss (TBL) was 221.0 ± 126.2 mL, while the average HBL was 181.7 ± 119.0 mL (82.2 % of TBL). There was no statistically significant difference in HBL between the transverse surgical approach and the interlayer approach. Additionally, no significant differences were observed in improvements in VAS, JOA, and ODI scores between the two surgical approaches. However, the multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that longer surgical time and foraminal decompression were factors contributing to the increase in HBL, which subsequently led to the occurrence of post-operative anemia. Conclusion: HBL is significant in PELD cases with long surgical time and lumbar foraminal decompression.

Lu doped Hf0.5Zr0.5O2(HZO) ferroelectric films were prepared on Pt/TiN/SiO2/Si substrate by chemical solution deposition method, and an interfacial engineering strategy for improving the ferroelectric property was explored by capping the Lu doped HZO films with a cerium oxide layer. Compared with the Lu doped HZO film without the CeOxcoating layer, the Lu doped HZO film with the CeOxcoating layer has a larger remanent polarization (2Pr= 34.72µC cm-2) and presents weaker wake-up behavior, which result from the higher orthogonal phase ratio and the lower oxygen vacancy of the CeOxcoated Lu doped HZO film. In addition, the CeOxcoating can remarkably improve the fatigue resistance and retention performance of the Lu doped HZO films. It is hoped that the results can provide an effective approach for the realization of high-performance and highly reliable hafnium oxide based ferroelectric thin films.

Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is the leading cause of low back pain (LBP). The mechanism of IDD development and progression is not fully understood. Peripheral biomarkers are increasingly vital non-radioactive methods in early detection and diagnosis for IDD. Nevertheless, less attention has been paid to the role of mitophagy genes in the progress of IDD. This study aimed to identify the mitophagy disease-causing genes in the process of IDD and mitophagy diagnostic biomarkers for IDD. Methods: Mitophagy-related differentially expressed genes (MRDEGs) related to IDD were investigated by analyzing the microarray datasets of IDD cases from GEO, PathCards and Molecular Signatures Databases. We used R software, WGCNA, PPI, mRNA-miRNA, mRNA-TF, GO, KEGG, GSEA, GSVA and Cytoscape to analyze and visualize the data. We further used ssGSEA for immunoinfiltration analysis to obtain different immune cell infiltration. LASSO model was developed to screen for genes that met the diagnostic gene model requirements. Finally, qRT-PCR, Western blotting and HE were used to verify hub genes and their expression from clinical IDD samples. Results: We identified 14 MRDEGs and 12 hub genes. GO, KEGG, GSEA and GSVA analyses demonstrated that hub genes were critical for the development of IDD. LASSO diagnostic model consisted of six hub genes, among which SQSTM1, ATG7 and OPTN were significantly different between the two IDD disease subtypes. At the same time, SQSTM1 also had a high correlation with immune characteristic subtypes. The results of qRT-PCR and Western blotting also indicated that these genes were significantly differentially expressed in nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) of the IDD group. Conclusion: We explored an association between MRDEGs-associated signature in IDD and validated that hub genes like SQSTM1 might serve as biomarkers for diagnostic and therapeutic targets for IDD. Meanwhile, this study can provide new insights into the functional characteristics and mechanism of mitophagy in the development of IDD.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are vital nutrients in human physiology and are implicated in various chronic diseases. However, the relationship between PUFAs and gastric polyps remains unclear. This study employed liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to assess PUFA levels in the serum of 350 patients, along with analyzing the ω-6 to ω-3 ratio. The results revealed significant differences in the levels of C16:1, C18:1, C18:2, α-C18:3, γ-C18:3, C20:1, C20:4, C20:5, ω-3-C22:5, ω-6-C22:5, and C22:6, as well as ω-6 to ω-3 ratio between the control and gasteic polyp groups. Moreover, setting the threshold for ω-6: ω-3 at 10 revealed a close correlation between polyp occurrence and this ratio. These findings suggest that PUFAs and the ω-6 to ω-3 ratio hold promise as potential early screening markers for gastric polyps. However, further research is imperative to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and therapeutic potential of PUFAs in managing gastric polyps.

RESUMEN

A rapid method that uses super-resolution magnetic array data is proposed to localize an unknown number of magnets in a magnetic array. A magnetic data super-resolution (SR) neural network was developed to improve the resolution of a magnetic sensor array. The approximate 3D positions of multiple targets were then obtained based on the normalized source strength (NSS) and magnetic gradient tensor (MGT) inversion. Finally, refined inversion of the position and magnetic moment was performed using a trust region reflective algorithm (TRR). The effectiveness of the proposed method was examined using experimental field data collected from a magnetic sensor array. The experimental results showed that all the targets were successfully captured in multiple trials with three to five targets with an average positioning error of less than 3 mm and an average time of less than 300 ms.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the relationship between CD276 and clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC) and assess the diagnostic value of CD276 in ccRCC. METHODS: Expression levels of CD276 in ccRCC and para-cancer tissues were compared and analyzed retrospectively using data obtained from TCGA and GEO databases. The clinical data was analyzed prospectively. Immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR analyses were used to analyze the expression of CD276 at the mRNA and protein levels. These analyses compared the expression between ccRCC tissues and para-cancer tissues obtained from 70 patients with ccRCC. Next, ELISA was used to analyze peripheral blood samples from 70 patients with ccRCC and 72 healthy individuals, facilitating the differentiation of ccRCC patients from normal controls. Finally, we utilized the Kaplan-Meier method to generate ROC curves for assessing the diagnostic value of CD276 for ccRCC. RESULTS: Analysis of TCGA and GEO data revealed that the mRNA expression of CD276 was higher in ccRCC tissues than in para-cancer tissues (P < .05). Clinical validation using IHC and RT-PCR confirmed that the expression of CD276 was higher in ccRCC tissues than in para-cancer tissues, both at the mRNA and protein levels (P < .05). ELISA demonstrated that the expression of CD276 was higher in ccRCC patients than in normal individuals, and patients with a higher pathological grade showed higher expression of CD276 in the peripheral blood than those with a lower pathological grade (P < .05). ROC curves drawn from the above three datasets demonstrated that CD276 had a high diagnostic value for ccRCC (AUC = .894, .795, .938, respectively). CONCLUSION: The expression of CD276 was higher in ccRCC tissues and positively associated with the pathological grade. Therefore, CD276 may serve as a molecular biomarker for ccRCC prediction.

Serine protease inhibitors (serpins) are the most numerous and widespread multifunctional protease inhibitor superfamily and are expressed by all eukaryotes. Serpin E2 (serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade E, member 2), a member of the serine protease inhibitor superfamily is a potent endogenous thrombin inhibitor, mainly found in the extracellular matrix and platelets, and expressed in numerous organs and secreted by many cell types. The multiple functions of serpin E2 are mainly mediated through regulating urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA, also known as PLAU), tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA, also known as PLAT), and matrix metalloproteinase activity, and include hemostasis, cell adhesion, and promotion of tumor metastasis. The importance serpin E2 is clear from its involvement in numerous physiological and pathological processes. In this review, we summarize the structural characteristics of the Serpin E2 gene and protein, as well as its roles physiology and disease.

Objective and Impact Statement: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy is a promising noninvasive method that induces coagulative necrosis in diseased tissues through thermal and cavitation effects, while avoiding surrounding damage to surrounding normal tissues. Introduction: Accurate and real-time acquisition of the focal region temperature field during HIFU treatment marked enhances therapeutic efficacy, holding paramount scientific and practical value in clinical cancer therapy. Methods: In this paper, we initially designed and assembled an integrated HIFU system incorporating diagnostic, therapeutic, and temperature measurement functionalities to collect ultrasound echo signals and temperature variations during HIFU therapy. Furthermore, we introduced a novel multimodal teacher-student model approach, which utilizes the shared self-expressive coefficients and the deep canonical correlation analysis layer to aggregate each modality data, then through knowledge distillation strategies, transfers the knowledge from the teacher model to the student model. Results: By investigating the relationship between the phantoms, in vitro, and in vivo ultrasound echo signals and temperatures, we successfully achieved real-time reconstruction of the HIFU focal 2D temperature field region with a maximum temperature error of less than 2.5 °C. Conclusion: Our method effectively monitored the distribution of the HIFU temperature field in real time, providing scientifically precise predictive schemes for HIFU therapy, laying a theoretical foundation for subsequent personalized treatment dose planning, and providing efficient guidance for noninvasive, nonionizing cancer treatment.

BACKGROUND: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disease characterized by abdominal pain, distension, and altered bowel habits. Probiotics may alleviate IBS symptoms, but clinical trials remain conflicting. AIMS: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials to evaluate the efficacy and safety of probiotics for IBS patients. METHODS: We searched relevant trials in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar from 2000 to June 2023. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated for continuous outcomes. A risk ratio (RR) and a 95% CI were calculated for dichotomous outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 20 studies involving 3011 patients were obtained. The results demonstrated that probiotics are more effective than placebo in reducing global IBS symptoms improvement rate (RR = 1.401, 95% CI 1.182-1.662, P < 0.001) and quality of life scores (SMD = 0.286, 95% CI = 0.154-0.418, P < 0.001). Subgroup analyses showed that a shorter treatment time (less than eight weeks) could reduce distension scores (SMD = 0.197, 95% CI = 0.038-0.356, P = 0.015). High doses (daily dose of probiotics ≥ 10ˆ10) or multiple strains of probiotics exhibit beneficial effects on abdominal pain (SMD = 0.412, 95% CI = 0.112-0.711, P = 0.007; SMD = 0.590, 95% CI = 0.050-1.129, P = 0.032; respectively). However, there was no significant benefit on global symptom scores (SMD = 0.387, 95% CI 0.122 to 0.653, P = 0.004) with statistically high inter-study heterogeneity (I2 = 91.9%, P < 0.001). Furthermore, there was no significant inter-group difference in terms of adverse events frequency (RR = 0.997, 95% CI 0.845-1.177, P = 0.973). CONCLUSION: Probiotics are effective and safe for IBS patients. High doses or multiple probiotic strains seem preferable, but definite conclusions are challenging due to the high heterogeneity. Large-scale, well-designed, and rigorous trials are needed to confirm their effectiveness.

RESUMEN

A halogen-atom-transfer (XAT)-based method for carbonylazotization of pyrroles or indoles with aryldiazonium salts and polyhalomethanes via dual C(sp2)-H bond functionalization is described. Using aryldiazonium salts realizes carbonylation/azotization of pyrroles or indoles via polyhalomethyl-radical-mediated and electrophilic substitution, thus providing a green, efficient, and step-economy approach for synthesis of multifunctional pyrroles or indoles from the easily available substrates. Notably, this strategy relies on the use of aryldiazonium salts to extend the well-established iodine atom transfer to bromine or chlorine atom transfer.

BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer (PCa) is a widespread malignancy, predominantly affecting elderly males, and current methods for diagnosis and treatment of this disease continue to fall short. The marker Ki-67 (MKI67) has been previously demonstrated to correlate with the proliferation and metastasis of various cancer cells, including those of PCa. Hence, verifying the association between MKI67 and the diagnosis and prognosis of PCa, using bioinformatics databases and clinical data analysis, carries significant clinical implications. AIM: To explore the diagnostic and prognostic efficacy of antigens identified by MKI67 expression in PCa. METHODS: For cohort 1, the efficacy of MKI67 diagnosis was evaluated using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases. For cohort 2, the diagnostic and prognostic power of MKI67 expression was further validated using data from 271 patients with clinical PCa. RESULTS: In cohort 1, MKI67 expression was correlated with prostate-specific antigen (PSA), Gleason Score, T stage, and N stage. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed a strong diagnostic ability, and the Kaplan-Meier method demonstrated that MKI67 expression was negatively associated with the progression-free interval (PFI). The time-ROC curve displayed a weak prognostic capability for MKI67 expression in PCa. In cohort 2, MKI67 expression was significantly related to the Gleason Score, T stage, and N stage; however, it was negatively associated with the PFI. The time-ROC curve revealed the stronger prognostic capability of MKI67 in patients with PCa. Multivariate COX regression analysis was performed to select risk factors, including PSA level, N stage, and MKI67 expression. A nomogram was established to predict the 3-year PFI. CONCLUSION: MKI67 expression was positively associated with the Gleason Score, T stage, and N stage and showed a strong diagnostic and prognostic ability in PCa.

PURPOSE: To identify the risk factors for training-related lower extremity muscle injuries in young males by a non-invasive method of body composition analysis. METHODS: A total of 282 healthy young male volunteers aged 18 - 20 years participated in this cohort study. Injury location, degree, and injury rate were adjusted by a questionnaire based on the overuse injury assessment methods used in epidemiological studies of sports injuries. The occurrence of training injuries is monitored and diagnosed by physicians and treated accordingly. The body composition was measured using the BodyStat QuadScan 4000 multifrequency Bio-impedance system at 5, 50, 100 and 200 kHz to obtain 4 impedance values. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to check whether the data conformed to a normal distribution. Data of normal distribution were shown as mean ± SD and analyzed by t-test, while those of non-normal distribution were shown as median (Q1, Q3) and analyzed by Wilcoxon rank sum test. The receiver operator characteristic curve and logistic regression analysis were performed to investigate risk factors for developing training-related lower extremity injuries and accuracy. RESULTS: Among the 282 subjects, 78 (27.7%) developed training injuries. Lower extremity training injuries revealed the highest incidence, accounting for 23.4% (66 cases). These patients showed higher percentages of lean body mass (p = 0.001), total body water (TBW, p = 0.006), extracellular water (p = 0.020) and intracellular water (p = 0.010) as well as a larger ratio of basal metabolic rate/total weight (p = 0.006), compared with those without lower extremity muscle injuries. On the contrary, the percentage of body fat (p = 0.001) and body fat mass index (p = 0.002) were lower. Logistic regression analysis showed that TBW percentage > 65.35% (p = 0.050, odds ratio = 3.114) and 3rd space water > 0.95% (p = 0.045, odds ratio = 2.342) were independent risk factors for lower extremity muscle injuries. CONCLUSION: TBW percentage and 3rd space water measured with bio-impedance method are potential risk factors for predicting the incidence of lower extremity muscle injuries in young males following training.

Cardiovascular diseases pose a major threat worldwide. Common cardiovascular diseases include acute myocardial infarction (AMI), heart failure, atrial fibrillation (AF) and atherosclerosis. Glycolysis process often has changed during these cardiovascular diseases. Lactate, the end-product of glycolysis, has been overlooked in the past but has gradually been identified to play major biological functions in recent years. Similarly, the role of lactate in cardiovascular disease is gradually being recognized. Targeting lactate production, regulating lactate transport, and modulating circulating lactate levels may serve as potential strategies for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the future. The purpose of this review is to integrate relevant clinical and basic research on the role of lactate in the pathophysiological process of cardiovascular disease in recent years to clarify the important role of lactate in cardiovascular disease and to guide further studies exploring the role of lactate in cardiovascular and other diseases.
