RESUMEN

The interfacial microstructures of Josephson junctions are vital for understanding the microscopic mechanism to improve the performance of superconducting qubits further. However, there remain significant concerns about well understanding the correlation between atomic structures and electrical behaviors. Here, we propose a new method to define the interface of the barrier in Josephson junctions, and investigate the factors that affect the electrical properties of junctions using material analysis techniques and first principles. We find that the aluminium-oxygen ratio of the interface contributes greatly to the electrical properties of junctions, which is consistent with the conclusions obtained by utilizing the generative adversarial network for data augmentation. When the aluminium-oxygen ratio of the interface is 0.67-1.1, the model exhibits a lower barrier height and better electrical properties of the junction. Moreover, when the thickness of the barrier is fixed, the impact of the aluminium-oxygen ratio becomes prominent. A detailed analysis of Josephson junctions using a microscopic model has led to identifying of process defects that can enhance the yield rate of chips. It has a great boost for determining the relationship between microstructures and macroscopic performances.

Cervical cancer is a common malignant tumor and a leading cause of death in women worldwide. It plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis and progression of cervical cancer. A total of 1606 references on inflammation in cervical cancer were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and visual analysis was performed using VOSviewer. Inflammation in cervical cancer has attracted the attention of researchers. Even though China is the country that publishes the most papers, with the most of the top-ranking institutions, there is no extensive collaboration and exchange of papers by Chinese scholars. PLOS One is a popular journal on inflammation in cervical cancer. Instead, authors from other countries perform better, for example, the Sjoerd H. Van Der Burg is the most widely cited author and "M2 macrophages induced by prostaglandin E2 and IL-6 from cervical carcinoma are switched to activated M1 macrophages by CD4 + Th1 cells" (Moniek Heusinkveld, Leiden University Medical Center) is the most cited article of inflammation in cervical cancer. Keywords associated with "apoptosis," "HPV," "NF-κB," and "oxidative stress have been used in many studies, and keywords associated with "apoptosis," "human papillomavirus (HPV)," "NF-κB," and "oxidative stress" are involved in many studies, and there may be more research ideas in the future. From the perspective of precision medicine, more substantive research articles can promote scientific value, strengthen communication and cooperation, produce more extensive research results, and greatly promote the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer. All procedures performed in this study involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki Declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards.

Introduction: Gut-microbiota-brain axis is a potential treatment to decrease the risk of chronic traumatic encephalopathy following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Phosphoglycerate mutase 5 (PGAM5), a mitochondrial serine/threonine protein phosphatase, resides in mitochondrial membrane and regulates mitochondrial homeostasis and metabolism. Mitochondria mediates intestinal barrier and gut microbiome. Objectives: This study investigated the association between PGAM5 and gut microbiota in mice with TBI. Methods: The controlled cortical impact injury was established in mice with genetically-ablated Pgam5 (Pgam5-/-) or wild type, and WT male mice were treated with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from male Pgam5-/- mice or Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila). Then the gut microbiota abundance, blood metabolites, neurological function, and nerve injury were detected. Results: Treated with antibiotics for suppressing gut microbiota in Pgam5-/- mice partially relieved the role of Pgam5 deficiency in the improvement of initial inflammatory factors and motor dysfunction post-TBI. Pgam5 knockout exhibited an increased abundance of A. muciniphila in mice. FMT from male Pgam5-/- mice enabled better maintenance of amino acid metabolism and peripherial environment than that in TBI-vehicle mice, which suppressed neuroinflammation and improved neurological deficits, and A. muciniphila was negatively associated with intestinal mucosal injury and neuroinflammation post-TBI. Moreover, A. muciniphila treatment ameliorated neuroinflammation and nerve injury by regulating Nlrp3 inflammasome activation in cerebral cortex with TBI. Conclusion: Thus, the present study provides evidence that Pgam5 is involved in gut microbiota-mediated neuroinflammation and nerve injury, with A. muciniphila-Nlrp3 contributing to peripheral effects.

All-nitride Josephson junctions are being actively explored for applications in superconducting quantum chips because of their unique advantages including their antioxidant chemical stability and high crystal quality. However, the theoretical research on their microstructure mechanism that determines transport properties is still absent, especially on the defects. In this paper, we apply the first principles and non-equilibrium Green's function to calculate the electrical transport characteristics of the yellow preset model. It is first revealed that the N-vacancy defects play a crucial role in determining the conductivity of the NbN-based Josephson junctions, and demonstrate the importance for the uniformity of vacancy distribution. It is found that the uniform number of vacancies can effectively increase the conductance of Josephson junction, but the position distribution of vacancies has little effect on the conductance. The work clarifies the effect of the N-vacancy defects on the conductivity of the NbN-based Josephson junctions, which offers useful guidance for understanding the microscope mechanism of the NbN-based Josephson junction, thus showing a great prospect in the improvement of the yield of superconducting quantum chips in the future.

BACKGROUND: Autophagy plays an important role in cellular homeostasis. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol derived from green tea, has been shown to elicit vascular protective effects. Our study aimed to investigate the protective effect of EGCG in an endothelial injury model induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and reveal the possible mechanisms. METHODS: Human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) were pretreatment with different concentration of EGCG, then exposed to H2O2. Cell viability was measured with MTS assay. Apoptosis was evaluated with TUNEL staining and apoptosis-related protein was determined by western blot. Autophagy flux was assessed by transmission electron microscopy and LC3 plasmid transfection. Besides, the role mTOR in EGCG-mediated antioxidant responses was validated with siRNA transfection. RESULTS: The results showed that pretreatment with EGCG significantly improved the survival of HUVECs from H2O2-induced cell death. After exposed to H2O2, EGCG upregulated the levels of Atg5, Atg7, LC3 II/I, and the Atg5-Atg12 complex in HUVECs, while downregulated apoptosis-related protein. Besides, EGCG inhibited the PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway. Knockdown of mTOR partially promoted EGCG-induced autophagy. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that EGCG induces autophagy by targeting the mTOR pathway, indicating that EGCG has the potential to prevent and treat oxidative stress-related cardiovascular diseases.

Building information modelling (BIM) can be applied to tunnel engineering to address a number of problems, including complex structure, extensive design, long construction cycle and increased security risks. To promote the development of tunnel engineering in China, this paper combines actual cases, including the Xingu mountain tunnel and the Shigu Mountain tunnel, to systematically analyse BIM applications in tunnel engineering in China. The results indicate that BIM technology in tunnel engineering is currently mainly applied during the design stage rather than during construction and operation stages. The application of BIM technology in tunnel engineering covers many problems, such as a lack of standards, incompatibility of different software, disorganized management, complex combination with GIS (Geographic Information System), low utilization rate and poor awareness. In this study, through summary of related research results and engineering cases, suggestions are introduced and an outlook for the BIM application in tunnel engineering in China is presented, which provides guidance for design optimization, construction standards and later operation maintenance.

Xi'an Bell Tower (the Bell Tower) is a state-level ancient relic in China. The vibration caused by metro will exert adverse effect on the Bell Tower. This paper aims at presenting 3D-FEM models to predict the peak period velocity (PPV) of rammed earth base when the metro passing through the Bell Tower. The calculation results are compared with those of field test. Both results were found to be in good agreement. Furthermore, the results indicated that the effect of shock absorption measures is significant. The shock absorption tracks can obviously decrease the vibration of the Bell Tower, and the maximum decrease of PPV of the rammed earth base is 78.91 %. The proposed prediction has the potential to be developed as a decision and management tool for the evaluation of the risk associated with the influence of vibration caused by metro on buildings in urban areas.

In the past few decades, as a new tool for analysis of the tough geotechnical problems, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been successfully applied to address a number of engineering problems, including deformation due to tunnelling in various types of rock mass. Unlike the classical regression methods in which a certain form for the approximation function must be presumed, ANNs do not require the complex constitutive models. Additionally, it is traced that the ANN prediction system is one of the most effective ways to predict the rock mass deformation. Furthermore, it could be envisaged that ANNs would be more feasible for the dynamic prediction of displacements in tunnelling in the future, especially if ANN models are combined with other research methods. In this paper, we summarized the state-of-the-art and future research challenges of ANNs on the tunnel deformation prediction. And the application cases as well as the improvement of ANN models were also presented. The presented ANN models can serve as a benchmark for effective prediction of the tunnel deformation with characters of nonlinearity, high parallelism, fault tolerance, learning, and generalization capability.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a common air pollutant and can cause harmful insults on neurons. Microglial activation has been implicated in the signaling cascades that contribute to neuronal cell death in various neurological disorders. In the present study, we found that SO2 derivatives decreased cell viability via inducing oxidative stress, inflammatory responses and apoptotic cell death in BV2 microglial cells. Pretreatment with (RS)-2-chloro-5-hydroxyphenylglycine (CHPG), an mGluR5 agonist, significantly attenuated the SO2-induced cytotoxicity, which was fully prevented by the mGluR5 antagonist MPEP. CHPG increased the expression of TNF-α stimulated gene/protein 6 (TSG-6), but decreased the activation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) after SO2 derivatives treatment in BV2 cells. In addition, knockdown of TSG-6 expression by specific targeted short interfering RNA (siRNA) partially reversed the protection induced by CHPG. Therefore, our findings reveal a mechanistic basis for exploring the association between SO2 exposure and neurological disorders, and also for opening up therapeutic approaches of ameliorating neuronal injury resulting from exposure in atmospheric polluting environment.

Because of the particularity of the environment in the tunnel, the rational tunnel illumination system should be developed, so as to optimize the tunnel environment. Considering the high cost of traditional tunnel illumination system with high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps as well as the effect of a single light source on tunnel entrance, the energy-saving illumination system with HPS lamps and LEDs combined illumination in road tunnel, which could make full use of these two kinds of lamps, was proposed. The wireless intelligent control system based on HPS lamps and LEDs combined illumination and microcontrol unit (MCU) Si1000 wireless communication technology was designed. And the remote monitoring, wireless communication, and PWM dimming module of this system were designed emphatically. Intensity detector and vehicle flow detector can be configured in wireless intelligent control system, which gather the information to the master control unit, and then the information is sent to the monitoring center through the Ethernet. The control strategies are got by the monitoring center according to the calculated results, and the control unit wirelessly sends parameters to lamps, which adjust the luminance of each segment of the tunnel and realize the wireless intelligent control of combined illumination in road tunnel.
