RESUMEN

Purpose: To retrospectively analyse the different imaging manifestations of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome-associated hepatic Kaposi's sarcoma (AIDS-HKS) on CT, MRI, and Ultrasound. Patients and Methods: Eight patients were enrolled in the study. Laboratory tests of liver function were performed. The CT, MRI, and Ultrasound manifestations were reviewed by two radiologists and two sonographers, respectively. The distribution and imaging signs of AIDS-HKS were evaluated. Results: AIDS-HKS patients commonly presented multiple lesions, mainly distributed around the portal vein on CT, MRI, and Ultrasound. AIDS-HKS presented as ring enhancement in the arterial phase on contrast-enhanced CT and MRI scanning, and nodules gradually strengthen in the portal venous phase and the delayed phase. AIDS-HKS presented as intrahepatic bile duct dilatation and bile duct wall thickening around the lesion. Five patients (62.5%, 5/8) were followed up. After chemotherapy, the lesions were completely relieved (60.0%), or decreased (40.0%). Conclusion: AIDS-HKS presented as multiple nodular lesions with different imaging features. The combination of different imaging methods was helpful for the imaging diagnosis of AIDS-HKS.

RESUMEN

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major infectious diseases in the world with a high incidence rate. Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) is a key and difficult challenge in the prevention and treatment of TB. Early, rapid, and accurate diagnosis of DR-TB is essential for selecting appropriate and personalized treatment and is an important means of reducing disease transmission and mortality. In recent years, imaging diagnosis of DR-TB has developed rapidly, but there is a lack of consistent understanding. To this end, the Infectious Disease Imaging Group, Infectious Disease Branch, Chinese Research Hospital Association; Infectious Diseases Group of Chinese Medical Association of Radiology; Digital Health Committee of China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industrialization, and other organizations, formed a group of TB experts across China. The conglomerate then considered the Chinese and international diagnosis and treatment status of DR-TB, China's clinical practice, and evidence-based medicine on the methodological requirements of guidelines and standards. After repeated discussion, the expert consensus of imaging diagnosis of DR-PB was proposed. This consensus includes clinical diagnosis and classification of DR-TB, selection of etiology and imaging examination [mainly X-ray and computed tomography (CT)], imaging manifestations, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis. This expert consensus is expected to improve the understanding of the imaging changes of DR-TB, as a starting point for timely detection of suspected DR-TB patients, and can effectively improve the efficiency of clinical diagnosis and achieve the purpose of early diagnosis and treatment of DR-TB.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a syndrome with high 28- and 90-day mortality rates. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been widely used to diagnose and evaluate liver disease. Our purpose is to determine the value of the imaging features derived from Gd-DTPA-enhanced MRI for predicting the poor outcome of patients with ACLF and develop a clinically practical radiological score. METHODS: This retrospective study comprised 175 ACLF patients who underwent Gd-DTPA-enhanced abdominal MRI from January 2017 to December 2021. The primary end-point was 90-day mortality. Imaging parameters, such as diffuse hyperintense of the liver on T2WI, patchy enhancement of the liver at the arterial phase, uneven enhancement of the liver at the portal vein phase, gallbladder wall edema, periportal edema, ascites, esophageal and gastric varix, umbilical vein patefac, portal vein thrombosis, and splenomegaly were screened. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to evaluate prognostic factors and develop a prediction model. The accuracy of the model was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS: During the follow-up period, 31 of the 175 ACLF patients died within 90 days. In the multivariate analysis, three imaging parameters were independently associated with survival: diffuse hyperintense on T2WI (p = 0.007; HR = 3.53 [1.40-8.89]), patchy enhancement at the arterial phase (p = 0.037; HR = 2.45 [1.06-5.69]), moderate ascites (vs. mild) (p = 0.006; HR = 4.12 [1.49-11.36]), and severe ascites (vs. mild) (p = 0.005; HR = 4.29 [1.57-11.71]). A practical radiological score was proposed, based on the presence of diffuse hyperintense (7 points), patchy enhancement (5 points), and ascites (6, 8, and 8 points for mild, moderate, and severe, respectively). Further analysis showed that a cut-off at 14 points was optimum to distinguish high-risk (score > 14) from the low-risk group (score ≤ 14) for 90-day survival and demonstrated a mean area under the ROC curve of 0.774 in ACLF patients. CONCLUSIONS: Gd-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging features can predict poor outcomes in patients with ACLF, based on which we proposed a clinically practical radiological score allowing stratification of the 90-day survival.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Omicron, a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variant, is responsible for numerous infections in China. This study investigates the association between the use of Seven-Flavor Herb Tea (SFHT) and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection to develop precise and differentiated strategies for control of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). METHODS: This case-control study was conducted at shelter hospitals and quarantine hotels in China. A total of 5348 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients were enrolled between April 1 and May 31, 2022, while 2190 uninfected individuals served as healthy controls. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data on demographics, underlying diseases, vaccination status, and use of SFHT. Patients were propensity-score-matched using 1:1 nearest-neighbor matching of the logit of the propensity score. Subsequently, a conditional logistic regression model was used for data analysis. RESULTS: Overall, 7538 eligible subjects were recruited, with an average age of [45.54 ± 16.94] years. The age of COVID-19 patients was significantly higher than that of uninfected individuals ([48.25 ± 17.48] years vs [38.92 ± 13.41] years; t = 22.437, P < 0.001). A total of 2190 COVID-19 cases were matched with uninfected individuals at a 1:1 ratio. The use of SFHT (odds ratio = 0.753, 95% confidence interval: 0.692, 0.820) was associated with a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to untreated individuals. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that taking SFHT reduces the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This is a useful study in the larger picture of COVID-19 management, but data from large-sample multi-center, randomized clinical trial are warranted to confirm the finding. RESUMEN

To determine the suitable planting density and row spacing of short-season cotton suitable for machine picking in the Yellow River Basin of China, we conducted a two-year field experiment in Dezhou during 2018-2019. The experiment followed a split-plot design, with planting density (82500 plants·hm-2 and 112500 plants·hm-2) as the main plots and row spacing (equal row spacing of 76 cm, wide-narrow row spacing of 66 cm+10 cm, equal row spacing of 60 cm) as the subplots. We examined the effects of planting density and row spacing on growth and development, canopy structure, seed cotton yield and fiber quality of short-season cotton. The results showed that plant height and LAI under high density treatment were significantly greater than those under low density treatment. The transmittance of the bottom layer was significantly lower than under low density treatment. Plant height under 76 cm equal row spacing was significantly higher than that under 60 cm equal row spacing, while that under wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm +10 cm) was significantly smaller than that under 60 cm equal row spacing in peak bolling stage. The effects of row spacing on LAI varied between the two years, densities, and growth stages. On the whole, the LAI under the wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm) was higher, with the curve declining gently after the peak, and it was higher than that in the two cases of equal row spacing in the harvest time. The change in transmittance of the bottom layer presented the opposite trend. Density, row spacing, and their interaction had significant effects on seed cotton yield and its components. In both years, seed cotton yield was the highest (3832 kg·hm-2 in 2018, 3235 kg·hm-2 in 2019) under wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm), and it was more stable at high densities. Fiber quality was less affected by density and row spacing. To sum up, the optimal density and row spacing of short-season cotton were as follows: density with 112500 plants·hm-2 and wide-narrow row spacing (66 cm+10 cm).

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Chronic liver disease (CLD) will affect the enhancement of hepatic parenchyma and portal vein on abdominal-enhanced MRI. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the difference in liver parenchyma and portal vein enhancement in patients with CLD of different liver function grades between Gd- EOB-DTPA and Gd-DPTA in the portal venous phase (PVP). METHODS: This retrospective study included 218 patients with CLD who had undergone abdominal enhanced MRI from January 2019 to June 2020. Patients with various degrees of liver dysfunction were identified with Child-Turcotte-Pugh and albumin-bilirubin grade. Two readers measured the precontrast and PVP signal intensities of liver parenchyma, portal vein, spleen, and psoas muscle. Relative liver enhancement, liver-to-spleen contrast index, portal vein image contrast, and portal vein-to-liver contrast were calculated. RESULTS: The relative enhancement of liver parenchyma was significantly lower for the Gd-EOB-DTPA group in any degree of liver function than the Gd- DTPA group in the PVP. The Gd-EOB-DTPA group showed significantly lower portal vein-to-liver contrast in the overall study population, CTP class B, and ALBI grade 2 patients compared to the group of Gd-DTPA at PVP. No significant difference was noted in the portal vein image contrast between the two contrast agents, regardless of CTP and ALBI grading. CONCLUSION: In CLD patients, Gd-EOB-DTPA yielded lower liver parenchymal enhancement and similar portal vein image contrast compared to Gd-DTPA in the PVP. Portal vein-to-liver contrast in the Gd-EOB-DTPA group was lower in the CTP class B and ALBI grade 2 subgroups compared to the Gd- DTPA group.

RESUMEN

Sluggish multiphase reaction kinetics and severe shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) are two major challenges facing lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, which largely prevent them from becoming a reality. Herein, a shell with catalytic function for sulfur cathode is in situ constructed through an ingenious electrochemical oxidative polymerization strategy by introducing hexafluorocyclotriphosphazene (HFPN) as additives, which suppresses the shuttle effect and promotes efficient sulfur conversion. The shell with abundant heteroatoms effectively confines polysulfides to the cathode matrix by chemically interacting with them to eliminate capacity degradation. Moreover, the shell exhibits high catalytic activities, which turns Li2S(2) into an activated state and facilitates its dissociation. The functionalized shell substantially advances the performance of Li-S batteries, thanks to efficient lithium-ion transportation and abundant adsorption-catalytic sites. As a result, Li-S batteries demonstrate superb resistance to self-discharge, ultrastable cycle performance, and greatly enhanced rate capability. Impressively, the batteries show an ultralow capacity decay rate of 0.034% throughout 700 cycles at 2C. They deliver a capacity of 517 mAh g-1 even at a 4C rate, exhibiting relieved electrochemical polarization and excellent sulfur utilization. This work provides an ingenious strategy to construct adsorption-catalytic nets for next-generation Li-S batteries with enhanced lifespan and electrochemical performance.

RESUMEN

Purpose: To retrospectively analyse the CT imaging during the long-term follow-up of COVID-19 patients after discharge. Patients and Methods: A total of 122 patients entered the study group. All patients underwent CT examinations. The CT images, which included distribution and imaging signs, were evaluated by two chest radiologists. Laboratory examinations included routine blood work, biochemical testing, and SARS-CoV-2 antibody screening. Statistical methods include chi-square, Fisher's exact test, one-way analysis of variance, rank sum test and logistic regression by SPSS 17.0. Results: There were 22 (18.0%) patients in the mild group, 74 (60.7%) patients in the moderate group, and 26 (21.3%) patients in the severe-critical group. The median follow-up interval was 405 days (378.0 days, 462.8 days). Only monocytes, prothrombin activity, and γ-glutamyltransferase showed significant differences among the three groups. We found that the more severe the patient's condition, the more SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies existed. Only 11 patients (11.0%) showed residual lesions on CT. The CT manifestations included irregular linear opacities in nine cases (9.0%), reticular patterns in six cases (6.0%), and GGOs in five cases (5.0%). Conclusion: The proportion of residual lesions on CT in COVID-19 patients was significantly reduced after long-term follow-up. The patients' age and disease conditions were positively correlated with residual lesions.

RESUMEN

The regulation of stem cell directional differentiation is a core research topic in regenerative medicine, and modulating the fate of stem cells is a promising strategy for precise intervention through the utilization of naturally small molecule compounds. The present study aimed to explore the potential pro-osteogenic differentiation effect of galangin, a flavonoid derived from Alpinia officinarum, on human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs) and the underlying molecular mechanism. The results showed that galangin had no cytotoxicity towards hAMSCs when the concentration was less than 50 µM. Treatment with 10 µM galangin significantly increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) secretion and calcium deposition in hAMSCs. Meanwhile, galangin upregulated the mRNA and protein expression of early osteoblast-specific markers, namely ALP, RUNX2, and OSX, and late osteoblast-specific markers, CoL1α1, OPN, and OCN, in hAMSCs. Furthermore, signaling pathway screening studies showed that galangin enhanced the phosphorylation of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). In addition, molecular docking results suggest there is a promising interaction between galangin and JAK2. Finally, treatment with the JAK2 specific inhibitor AG490 effectively reversed the induction of osteogenic differentiation, upregulation of osteoblast-specific marker expression, and activation of JAK2/STAT3 signaling induced by galangin. These results show that galangin induces the osteogenic differentiation of hAMSCs through the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway and could serve as a promising small molecular osteoinducer for application to hAMSCs in regenerative medicine.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Establish a CT-based diagnostic radiomic model for AIDS complicated with pulmonary cryptococcosis and evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of this model. METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled 98 AIDS patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis and 103 AIDS patients with other infections or neoplastic lesions, comprising a total of 699 lesions. Patients were randomly divided into a training group and test group at a ratio of 2.75:1. Features from all lesions, cavity lesions and solid nodule lesions were extracted, and two kinds of radiomic models (6 types) were established. ROC curves were drawn, and the sensitivity and specificity were calculated to compare the SVM model and LR model, radiologists' empirical diagnoses and the combination of these empirical diagnoses with the radiomic model. RESULTS: The AUCs of senior radiologist for all lesions and cavity lesions were lower than those of the SVM and LR models. The diagnostic efficacy of primary radiologist was lower than that of both of the other model types. The diagnostic efficacy of the LR model was relatively stable, with the highest diagnostic efficiency of the 3 model/radiologist groups. The AUCs of intermediate radiologist in combination with the LR radiomic model for all lesions, nodular lesions and cavity lesions were 0.88, 0.84, and 0.9, respectively, which were the highest among all models and radiologists. CONCLUSIONS: The CT-based radiomic LR model of AIDS-associated pulmonary cryptococcosis exhibits good diagnostic performance, which was similar to that of senior radiologists and higher than that of the primary radiologist. With the help of a radiomic model, radiologists can achieve improved diagnostic accuracy compared to that when only an empirical diagnosis is used.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Ectopic bronchogenic cysts are a type of congenital cystic tumor that are extremely difficult to diagnose and can be ectopically located in various organs, with the possibility of malignant transformation. Here we report a case of an ectopic bronchogenic cyst in the liver initially misdiagnosed as a gallbladder diverticulum. CASE SUMMARY: The patient was a middle-aged woman whose chief complaint was intermittent pain in the upper abdomen. Imaging examination revealed a cystic space in the left inner lobe of the liver. She was admitted to our hospital for treatment. Based on abdominal examination and imaging findings, the initial diagnosis was gallbladder diverticulum with cholestasis combined with chronic cholecystitis. However, following intraoperative observations and postoperative pathologic assessment, the diagnosis was revised to ectopic bronchogenic cyst of the liver. CONCLUSION: Radiologists, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons, gastrointestinal surgeons, urologists, and even neurosurgeons should be aware and consider a possible diagnosis of ectopic bronchogenic cysts, especially when other types of cyst, cystadenoma, and other diseases are excluded. The disease and its complications should be detected and correctly diagnosed and treated as early as possible in order to avoid adverse outcomes.

RESUMEN

The objective of this study was to evaluate the fertilization capability of White Bengal Tiger frozen-thawed completely immotile spermatozoa after interspecific intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with bovine oocytes. The fertilization status of presumptive zygotes was assessed 18 h after ICSI by immunofluorescence staining and confocal microscopy. The fertilization rate was 34.8% (8/23), as confirmed by the extrusion of two polar bodies, or male and female pronuclei formation. For unfertilized oocytes (65.2%, 15/23), one activated oocyte had an activated spermatozoon but most were unactivated oocytes with unactivated spermatozoa (1/15, 6.7% vs 10/15, 66.7%, respectively, p < 0.05). These results showed that White Bengal Tiger frozen-thawed completely immotile spermatozoa retained the capacity to fertilize bovine oocytes after interspecific ICSI. This is the first report of in vitro produced zygotes using tiger immotile sperm with bovine oocytes by interspecific ICSI technique, which provides an efficient and feasible method for preservation and utilization of endangered feline animals.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by high levels of proinflammatory cytokines and epithelial barrier dysfunction. The root of Ligularia fischeri (Ledeb.) Turcz. is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb with diverse therapeutic properties, which has been successfully used to treat inflammation-related diseases. However, little is known about its effect and mechanism against UC. PURPOSE: To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of L. fischeri root extracts against UC. METHODS: L. fischeri root samples were prepared using the alcohol extraction method and liquid-liquid extraction method. A dextran sodium sulfate-induced UC mouse model and a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory cell model were employed in the present study. Cell apoptosis was detected by TUNEL staining, and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to quantify the abundance of inflammatory factors in tissues. Hematoxylin and eosin staining and Masson staining were employed to analyze drug toxicity to the liver and kidney. A myeloperoxidase (MPO) assay kit was used to detect neutrophil infiltration in colon tissues. RT-qPCR was then employed to quantify the transcriptional levels of proinflammatory and apoptotic-related genes, while tight junction and apoptosis-related proteins were quantified via western blotting. Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry analysis was then performed to identify the natural compounds in L. fischeri root extracts. RESULTS: The water decoction extract, methanol extract, and especially the chloroform extract (CE) exerted potent therapeutic effects in UC mice. Similar to the positive control group (5-aminosalicylic acid), oral administration of CE (30, 60, and 90 mg/kg/d) elicited distinct therapeutic effects on UC mice in the medium- and high-dose groups. CE decreased disease activity index, histopathological score, and MPO level significantly, and effectively retained the colon length. Furthermore, CE significantly reduced the levels of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α and enhanced the expression of tight junction proteins, such as zonula occludens (ZO)-1, ZO-2, claudin-1, and occludin, as well as the transcriptional levels of mucins, such as MUC-1 and MUC-2, in UC mice. Notably, CE prevented apoptosis of colonic epithelial cells by up-regulating Bcl-2 and down-regulating Bax. Also, CE inhibited the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and apoptosis in LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophages via the activation of Bcl-2/Bax signals. CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, L. fischeri root extracts, especially CE, have obvious therapeutic effects against UC. CE reduces inflammation and protects the intestinal epithelial cells and intestinal epithelial barrier via activation of the Bcl-2/Bax signaling pathway, and may be a promising therapeutic agent for UC treatment.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Atrial fibrillation is globally the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia which increases patient morbidity and mortality, dramatically influencing well-being. Despite substantial efforts, an optimal clinical pathway for chronic atrial fibrillation management has yet to be developed. In recent practice, a multidisciplinary team management has been recommended for patients with atrial fibrillation. However, experiments exploring nurse-led multidisciplinary team management in chronic atrial fibrillation management relative to standard clinical management are still sparse and limited. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of a nurse-led multidisciplinary team approach on cardiovascular hospitalization and death, and quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation. DESIGN: Randomized controlled trial. SETTING: The Cardiology Department of a tertiary referral hospital in Beijing, China. PARTICIPANTS: Eligible patients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation who consented. METHODS: Subjects were randomly assigned into one of two Cardiology Units upon admission. Patients in the control group (n = 119) received usual care and those in the intervention group (n = 116) underwent a nurse-led multidisciplinary team approach. Follow-up lasted for 12 months. The primary endpoint was a composite of cardiovascular hospitalization and cardiovascular death. The secondary endpoint was the differences in the quality of life between the groups observed at 6 months and 12 months of follow-up, compared to the baseline data, as determined using a Chinese version of the Medical Outcome Study Short-Form 36 General Health Survey. RESULTS: Patients under intervention showed a fewer cardiovascular hospitalization (17 vs. 35, p = 0.006) than those receiving usual care. Discernible differences were also observed in rates of cardiovascular hospitalization between the two groups (hazard ratio: 2.115, 95% confidential interval: 1.228-3.643, log-rank = 6.746, p = 0.009). Quality of life was improved in both groups, but more so in the intervention group (scores, 588.0 ± 106.0 vs. 519.1 ± 120.7 at 6 months and 674.4 ± 53.4 vs. 584.1 ± 105.9 at 12 months; both p < 0.001). Repeated measures analysis of variance indicated that group-by-time and between-subjects effects in respect of patients' quality of life (F = 9.310, p < 0.01; F = 29.042, p < 0.01, respectively). No relationships were found with cardiovascular death. CONCLUSIONS: Nurse-led multidisciplinary team management reduces cardiovascular hospitalization and improves quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation, suggesting that this innovative management approach should be implemented in clinical practice. RESUMEN

The redox reactions occurring in the Li-S battery positive electrode conceal various and critical electrocatalytic processes, which strongly influence the performances of this electrochemical energy storage system. Here, we report the development of a single-dispersed molecular cluster catalyst composite comprising of a polyoxometalate framework ([Co4(PW9O34)2]10-) and multilayer reduced graphene oxide. Due to the interfacial charge transfer and exposure of unsaturated cobalt sites, the composite demonstrates efficient polysulfides adsorption and reduced activation energy for polysulfides conversion, thus serving as a bifunctional electrocatalyst. When tested in full Li-S coin cell configuration, the composite allows for a long-term Li-S battery cycling with a capacity fading of 0.015% per cycle after 1000 cycles at 2 C (i.e., 3.36 A g-1). An areal capacity of 4.55 mAh cm-2 is also achieved with a sulfur loading of 5.6 mg cm-2 and E/S ratio of 4.5 µL mg-1. Moreover, Li-S single-electrode pouch cells tested with the bifunctional electrocatalyst demonstrate a specific capacity of about 800 mAh g-1 at a sulfur loading of 3.6 mg cm-2 for 100 cycles at 0.2 C (i.e., 336 mA g-1) with E/S ratio of 5 µL mg-1.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: To retrospectively analyze CT appearances and progression pattern of COVID-19 during hospitalization, and analyze imaging findings of follow-up on thin-section CT. METHODS: CT findings of 69 patients with COVID-19 were evaluated on initial CT, peak CT, and pre-discharge CT. CT pattern were divided into four types on CT progression. Lesion percentage of pulmonary lobe (lobe score) was graded. Correlation analysis was made between scores and intervals. 53 patients were followed up by CT. RESULTS: Among 69 patients, 33.3% exhibited improvement pattern, 65.2% peak pattern, 1.5% deterioration pattern, and 0% fluctuation pattern. The lobe scores were positively correlated with most of intervals. It was more common to observe consolidation, pleural thickening and pleural effusion on the peak CT, and irregular line and reticulation on pre-discharge CT. The peak-initial interval were shortened when the initial CT with consolidation and pleural thickening. The intervals were extended when the irregular lines appeared on peak CT and reticulation on pre-discharge CT. Among 53 follow-up patients, 37.7% showed normal chest CT, and 62.3% showed viral pneumonia remained that mainly included GGO (100.0%) and irregular lines (33.3%). CONCLUSIONS: COVID-19 displayed different appearances on CT as progressing. The peak pattern was the most common progression pattern. The CT appearances showed closely related to the intervals. The COVID-19 pneumonia can be remained or completely absorbed on CT with follow-up.

RESUMEN

Neonatal hypoxic ischemia is one of the leading causes of permanent morbidity and mortality in newborns, which is caused by difficulty in supplying blood and oxygen to brain tissue and is often associated with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, death, short-term or long-term neurological and cognitive impairment. In recent years, the clinical therapeutic effects of noble gases have been gradually discovered and recognized. Numerous studies have shown that noble gases have unique neuroprotective effects to restore damaged nerve and relieve symptoms in patients. Although research on the neuroprotective mechanisms of xenon and argon has yielded a lot of results, studies on helium have stalled. Helium is a colorless, odorless, monoatomic inert gas. The helium has no hemodynamic or neurocognitive side effects and can be used as an ideal pre-adaptor for future clinical applications. In recent years, studies have shown that heliox (a mixture of helium and oxygen) pretreatment can protect the heart, brain, liver and intestine from damage in several animal models, where a variety of signaling pathways have been proved to be involved. There are numerous studies on it even though the mechanism of helium for protecting newborns has not been fully elucidated. It is urgent to find an effective treatment due to the high death rate and disability rate of neonatal hypoxic ischemia. It is believed that helium will be approved safely and effectively for clinical use in the near future.

RESUMEN

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are a series of molecular metal oxide clusters, which span the two domains of solutes and solid metal oxides. The unique characters of POMs in structure, geometry, and adjustable redox properties have attracted widespread attention in functional material synthesis, catalysis, electronic devices, and electrochemical energy storage and conversion. This review is focused on the links between the intrinsic charge carrier behaviors of POMs from a chemistry-oriented view and their recent ground-breaking developments in related areas. First, the advantageous charge transfer behaviors of POMs in molecular-level electronic devices are summarized. Solar-driven, thermal-driven, and electrochemical-driven charge carrier behaviors of POMs in energy generation, conversion and storage systems are also discussed. Finally, present challenges and fundamental insights are discussed as to the advanced design of functional systems based upon POM building blocks for their possible emerging application areas.

RESUMEN

Peptic ulcer refers to the inflammatory response and necrotic lesions of the mucosa under the action of various pathogenic factors, which goes deeply into the mucosal muscle layer and often occurs to the gastrointestinal mucosa related to gastric acid secretion, among which the stomach and duodenum are the most common. The clinical manifestations include slow onset, prolonged course and weekly upper abdominal pain. Nitric oxide (NO) is an intracellular and intercellular signaling molecule that plays an important role in many physiological and pathological processes. Studies have found that a small amount of NO produced in vivo plays a role in many physiological homeostasis, such as regulating blood pressure, platelet aggregation, nitrogenization of hemoglobin, and regulating proliferation and differentiation of stem cells. However, under the action of some cytokines and oxidative stress, intracellular NO synthase will catalyze the synthesis of large amounts of NO and participate in the inflammatory response, causing beneficial or harmful effect on the body. Numerous basic studies have focused on the relationship between NO and peptic ulcer. The purpose of this review is to summarize the role of NO in peptic ulcer and its possible mechanism.
