RESUMEN

In restorative dentistry, the lack of occlusal space may lead to the mutilation of healthy tissue in order to provide sufficient space for the restorative material. Noprep dentistry can be achieved by placing high-bite restorations, followed by Simple Orthodontic Extrusion (SOE) of other teeth to close the created open bite. This rapid, partial orthodontic treatment is well accepted by patients as it can be easily performed using simple buttons, and it takes only a few weeks to reestablish occlusal contacts. The SOE technique is a further development of the Dahl concept. It has the advantages without the disadvantages. Two applications of this technique are presented in this article: the treatment of the severe wear of anterior teeth with no-prep palatal veneers made of Polymer-infiltrated Ceramic Network (PICN, 'hybrid ceramic') material and the realization of no-prep zirconia resin-bonded bridges (RBBs) to replace missing lateral incisors. An original 3D-printed resin guide for correctly positioning RBBs and facilitating the removal of excess composite cement is also presented. This work highlights the considerable advantages of multidisciplinary collaboration in the field of minimally invasive dentistry.

RESUMEN

Patients with a facial malformation due to a cleft lip and palate (CLP) usually suffer from a reduced ability to function normally associated with a poor oral health-related quality of life. This condition often requires multiple significant surgical interventions, and the prosthetic restoration, when needed, is not always included in the initial treatment plan. In order to obtain the highest possible degree of functional, occlusal, and phonetic performance, as well as esthetics, a facially guided prosthodontic treatment sequence should be established. The case presented in this publication shows a multidisciplinary approach for reconstruction of a compromised maxilla with an implant-supported prosthesis via a minimally invasive, digitalized approach.

RESUMEN

This article outlines the prosthetic concepts in the management of implants in the esthetic zone with a view to achieving optimal long-term esthetics and stability. The emphasis is on the understanding and application of the biologic factors and dental technology that influence treatment outcomes. The authors examine the exciting new world of digitalization of dental procedures that has transformed esthetic dentistry, dental technology, and surgery. The digital workflow makes it possible to attain excellence in many kinds of dental restorations, providing high quality while maintaining a very natural-looking appearance. The newest developments in the field of digital systems allow for greater predictability and precision of results as well as more accuracy, which in turn allows for better design quality. The duration of dental treatment and dental technology has also been reduced due to digitalization. Transitioning from an analog to a digital workflow requires a paradigm shift. The techniques to improve the daily workflow in practice and in the dental laboratory integrate advanced CAD/CAM technologies, combining 3D-printed models and high-end esthetic dental restorations in ceramics. An interdisciplinary approach, detailed in this article, is key to optimal case management.
