Modern industries rapid expansion has heightened energy needs and accelerated fossil fuel depletion, contributing to global warming. Additionally, organic pollutants present substantial risks to aquatic ecosystems due to their stability, insolubility, and non-biodegradability. Scientists are currently researching high-performance materials to address these issues. LaFeO3 nanosheets (LFO-NS) were synthesized in this study using a solvothermal method with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a soft template. The LFO-NS demonstrate superior performance, large surface area and charge separation than that of LaFeO3 nanoparticles (LFO-NP). The LFO-NS performance is further upgraded by incorporating ZIF-67. Our results confirmed the ZIF-67/LFO-NS nanocomposite have superior performances than pure LFO-NP and ZIF-67. The integration of ZIF-67 has enhanced the charge separation and promote the surface area of LFO-NSwhich was confirmed by various characterization techniques including TEM, HRTEM, DRS, EDX, XRD, FS, XPS, FT-IR, BET, PL, and RAMAN. The 5ZIF-67/LFO-NS sample showed significant activities for CO2 conversion, malachite green degradation, and antibiotics (cefazolin, oxacillin, and vancomycin) degradation. Furthermore, stability tests have confirmed that our optimal sample very active and stable. Furthermore, based on scavenger experiments and the photocatalytic degradation pathways, it has been established that H+ and •O2- are vital in the decomposition of MG and antibiotics. Our research work will open new gateways to prepare MOFs-Perovskites nanocatalysts for exceptional CO2 conversion, organic pollutants and antibiotics degradation.

Nanomaterials (NMs) have garnered significant attention in recent decades due to their versatile applications in a wide range of fields. Thanks to their tiny size, enhanced surface modifications, impressive volume-to-surface area ratio, magnetic properties, and customized optical dispersion. NMs experienced an incredible upsurge in biomedical applications including diagnostics, therapeutics, and drug delivery. This minireview will focus on notable examples of NMs that tackle important issues, demonstrating various aspects such as their design, synthesis, morphology, classification, and use in cutting-edge applications. Furthermore, we have classified and outlined the distinctive characteristics of the advanced NMs as nanoscale particles and hybrid NMs. Meanwhile, we emphasize the incredible potential of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a highly versatile group of NMs. These MOFs have gained recognition as promising candidates for a wide range of bio-applications, including bioimaging, biosensing, antiviral therapy, anticancer therapy, nanomedicines, theranostics, immunotherapy, photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy, gene therapy, and drug delivery. Although advanced NMs have shown great potential in the biomedical field, their use in clinical applications is still limited by issues such as stability, cytotoxicity, biocompatibility, and health concerns. This review article provides a thorough analysis offering valuable insights for researchers investigating to explore new design, development, and expansion opportunities. Remarkably, we ponder the prospects of NMs and nanocomposites in conjunction with current technology.

Pathogenic microorganism of silkworm are important factors that threaten the high-quality development of sericulture. Among them, Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) caused diseases often lead to frequent outbreaks and high mortality, resulting in huge losses to sericultural industry. Current molecular detection methods for BmNPV require expensive equipment and sikilled technical personnel. As a result, the most commonly detection method for silkworm egg production enterprises involves observing the presence of polyhedra under a microscope. However, this method has low accuracy and sensitivity. There is an urgent need to develop a new detection technology with high sensitivity, high specificity, and applicability for silkworm farms, silkworm egg production enterprises and quarantine departments. In this study, we successfully established the CRISPR/Cas13a BmNPV visualized detection technology by combining Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) technology and CRISPR/Cas13a system. This technology is based on microplate lateral, flow test strips and portable fluorescence detector. The detection sensitivity can reach up to 1 copies/µL for positive standard plasmid and 1 fg/µL for BmNPV genome in 30-45 min, demonstrating high sensitivity. By detecting silkworm tissues infected with different pathogens, we determined that CRISPR/Cas13a detection technology has good specificity. In summary, the newly established nucleic acid detection technology for BmNPV is characterized by high sensitivity, high specificity, low cost and convenience for visualization. It can be applied in field detection and silkworm egg quality monitory system.

Pathogens cause infections and millions of deaths globally, while antipathogens are drugs or treatments designed to combat them. To date, multifunctional nanomaterials (NMs), such as organic, inorganic, and nanocomposites, have attracted significant attention by transforming antipathogen livelihoods. They are very small in size so can quickly pass through the walls of bacterial, fungal, or parasitic cells and viral particles to perform their antipathogenic activity. They are more reactive and have a high band gap, making them more effective than traditional medications. Moreover, due to some pathogen's resistance to currently available medications, the antipathogen performance of NMs is becoming crucial. Additionally, due to their prospective properties and administration methods, NMs are eventually chosen for cutting-edge applications and therapies, including drug administration and diagnostic tools for antipathogens. Herein, NMs have significant characteristics that can facilitate identifying and eliminating pathogens in real-time. This mini-review analyzes multifunctional NMs as antimicrobial tools and investigates their mode of action. We also discussed the challenges that need to be solved for the utilization of NMs as antipathogens.

As a highly infectious pathogen, Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) has a high lethality rate in silkworm. Our previous study have confirmed that Hsp90 plays a positive role in BmNPV proliferation and Hsp90 inhibitor, geldanamycin (GA) can decrease the replication of BmNPV in vitro. However, its molecular mechanism is not fully understood. In the present study, first, we found that GA could inhibit the proliferation of BmNPV in a dose-dependent manner and delay the pathogenesis of BmNPV in vivo possibly by altering the transcript level of genes associated with cell apoptosis and immune pathways. Furthermore, by immunoprecipitation (IP) and mass spectrometry analysis, we identified a series of proteins potentially interacting with Hsp90 including two BmNPV encoded proteins. Subsequently, by Co-IP we confirmed the interaction between BmActin-4 and BmHsp90. Knocking down Bmhsp90 by small interfering RNA inhibited the protein expression level of BmActin-4. Over-expression of Bmactin-4 promoted the replication of BmNPV whereas knockdown of Bmactin-4 suppressed BmNPV replication. In addition, decrease of the transcript level of Bmhsp90 in Bmactin-4 knocking down BmN cells was also detected. Taken together, BmHsp90 can interact with BmActin-4 and promote its expression, thereby promoting BmNPV proliferation. Our findings may enrich the molecular mechanism of Hsp90 for promoting virus proliferation and provide new clues to elucidate the interact mechanism between silkworm and virus.

Toxic antibiotic effluents and antibiotic-resistant bacteria constitute a threat to global health. So, scientists are investigating high-performance materials for antibiotic decomposition and antibacterial activities. In this novel research work, we have successfully designed ZIF-8@ZIF-67 nanocomposites via sol-gel and solvothermal approaches. The ZIF-8@ZIF-67 nanocomposite is characterized by various techniques that exhibit superior surface area enhancement, charge separation, and high light absorption performance. Yet, ZIF-8 has high adsorption rates and active sites, while ZIF-67 has larger pore volume and efficient adsorption and reaction capabilities, demonstrating that the ZIF-8@ZIF-67 nanocomposite outperforms pristine ZIF-8 and ZIF-67. Compared with pristine ZIF-8 and ZIF-67, the most active 6ZIF-67@ZIF-8 nanocomposite showed higher decomposition efficacy for ciprofloxacin (65%), levofloxacin (54%), and ofloxacin (48%). Scavenger experiments confirmed that •OH, •O2-, and h+ are the most active species for the decomposition of ciprofloxacin (CIP), levofloxacin (LF), and ofloxacin (OFX), respectively. In addition, the 6ZIF-67/ZIF-8 nanocomposite suggested its potential applications in Escherichia coli for growth inhibition zone, antibacterial activity, and decreased viability. Moreover, the stability test and decomposition pathway of CIP, LF, and OFX were also proposed. Finally, our study aims to enhance the efficiency and stability of ZIF-8@ZIF-67 nanocomposite and potentially enable its applications in antibiotic decomposition, antibacterial activities, and environmental remediation.

OBJECTIVE: Tele-rehabilitation to explore current evidence on the effectiveness of tele-rehabilitation compared to face-to-face rehabilitation for patients after total hip replacement. METHODS: The systematic review of clinical trials comprised search of Cochrane, Medline, Embase and PEDro databases from 2000 to date for English-language, human studies dealing with postoperative rehabilitation of total hip replacement patients. A thorough search was performed to retrieve articles missed through databases as well as unpublished grey literature. Methodological quality assessment was done using the Cochrane risk of bias tool, and the studies were critically appraised using the PEDro scale. RESULTS: Of the 150 studies initially found on the databases, 11(7.3%) were subjected to detailed review; 4(36.4%) randomised trials, 3(27.3%) randomised controlled protocols, 3(27%) randomised pilot studies, and 1(9%) prospective cohort study. Overall, 8(72.7%) studies were of 'high' quality and 3(27.3%) fell under the category of 'fair'. CONCLUSIONS: Tele-rehabilitation group reported similar improvement in terms of activities of daily living and quality of life as did those exposed to traditional rehabilitation.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the current evidences on effects of trigger point dry needling as a treatment strategy on pain and range of motion among subjects with lower extremity myofascial trigger areas. METHODS: The systematic review was conducted at the University Institute of Physical Therapy, Lahore, Pakistan, from February to August 2019, and comprised search of studies on Cochrane Library, PubMed, SPORTDiscus and PEDro databases published in the English language from 2000 to July 2019. The search terms used were 'Dry needling', 'Trigger points', 'Myofascial trigger points', 'Trigger area', 'Acupuncture therapy', 'Lower extremity' and 'Acupuncture'. Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to assess the randomised and non-randomised controlled trials. Methodological assessment was performed using Physiotherapy Evidence Database 10-point scale. Data synthesis was performed through vote counting method. RESULTS: Of the 564 articles initially found, 30(5.3%) were shortlisted for full-text assessment. Of them, 10(33.3%) were selected for final assessment; with 7(70%) scoring high and 3(30%) fair on the PEDro scale. All the 10(100%) studies documented improvement in the pain over time with dry needling strategy. None of the studies targeted any other outcome, like anxiety and sleep disturbances, related with myofascial trigger points. CONCLUSIONS: On basis of the best evidences available, dry needling seemed to be effective in pain reduction related to lower extremity myofascial trigger points. Evidence also suggested that there was not much positive effect of myofascial trigger point dry needling on depression, anxiety, muscular strength and quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of positioning on tonic labyrinthine reflex in children with cerebral palsy. METHODS: The quasi-experimental study was conducted at the Institute of Psychological Services and Physical Rehabilitation, Lahore, from July 2016 to June 2017, and comprised children with spastic and athetoid cerebral palsy aged six months to three years. Gross Motor Functional Classification Scale level V was taken as baseline measure. Data was obtained and functional motor abilities were assessed by Motor Function Measure-20 Scale. Participants received intervention in the form of positioning in hammock for 10 hours, in-between sitting in cerebral palsy chair with harness along with sensory motor integration techniques. The readings were compared before the intervention and after the treatment strategies. SPSS 21 was used to analyse the data. RESULTS: Of the 30 subjects, 18(60%) were boys, and 7(23%) had athetoid cerebral palsy. The overall mean age was 18.13±7.33 months. Motor function variables significantly improved post-intervention (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Positioning provided significant improvement and positive effect in tonic labyrinthine reflex of spastic and athetoid cerebral palsy children.
