RESUMEN

It is reported on a 23-year-old female patient in whom at the beginning enlargements of the lymphatic nodes and a tumour of the pelvic wall were existing and in the course of the an increasing eosinophilia developed. This reached 158.95 X 19(9)/l in maximum values of leukocytes of 201.2 X 10(9)/l and a large proportion of immature eosinophilic cells. The disease which finally had to be explained as eosinophilic leukemia rendered extraordinary differential-diagnostic difficulties and had a therapeutically uninfluencible fatal course.

RESUMEN

In the bone marrow of guinea pigs a decrease of lymphocytes resulted after immunisation against Q-fever antigen, compensating within 4 weeks. Under treatment with prednisolone normalisation occurred within 3, with aristolochic acid as well as with prednisolone and aristolochic acid already up to the 2nd week. After immunisation plasma cell increase was lasting longer in the aristolochic acid group than in other groups. The antibody determinations resulted in different values. After immunisation with Q-fever antigen the antibody levels in rabbits increased without significant differences between the control animals and the animals treated with prednisolone or aristolochic acid. An special increase of antibody formation was to be observed in the group with combined therapy. Possibilities for the influence on the immune response by the drugs used are discussed.

RESUMEN

Drugs influence the leukocyte adherence inhibition test. Glucocorticoids reduce adherence more then aristolochic acid. When given together the glucocorticoid related adherence inhibition is abolished. In this way the known antagonistic behaviour of aristolochic acid towards glucocorticoids is confirmed.

RESUMEN

The influence of prednisolone and 3,4-methylenedioxy-8-methoxy-10-nitrophenanthrenecarbonic acid-1 (aristolochic acid) on the immunocyte adherence phenomenon in the rat was investigated. The following results were obtained: Prednisolone diminishes the number of rosettes. Aristolochic acid itself has no influence on the number of rosettes but compensates the diminuation caused by prednisolone. Equal effects were found for 5 mg/kg b.w. prednisolone and 0.005 mg/kg aristolochic acid. This effect of aristolochic acid is interpreted as competitive inhibition of surface receptors of lymphocytes.

RESUMEN

In the chemotherapy of malignant solid tumours, also in form of the adjuvant chemotherapy, the results to be yielded are less favourable than in the diseases of the hemopoietic system. By a consequently performed poly-chemotherapy it is, nevertheless, possible to achieve remissions. By polychemotherapy we achieved in 13 metastatasized carcinomas of the mamma 4 partial and one complete remission, in 15 inoperable lung tumours we achieved four times a standstill of the growth and a complete remission over two years, whereas the tumours of the gastro-intestinal tract could be influenced less clearly. Treatments with only one medicament in each case were without any effect in solid epidermic tumours. The therapy is to be used effectfully only then, when indication, dosage and control of the patients are performed critically and exactly.

RESUMEN

By the increase of the average age of man among others also the problems of tumour diseases in old persons increasingly gain importance. In the therapy of malignant diseases, therefore, the various age-conditioned changes concerning the immunological system must be taken into consideration. Even though the tumour therapy on principle does not deviate in old patients from the tumour therapy in younger patients, it must yet be carried out with particular precaution and the restricted load capacity must be taken into consideration. Under these conditions also by means of polychemotherapy results may be achieved as they are possible in younger patients.

RESUMEN

The methods and the results of the cytostatic permanent and impact therapy, of the partial synchronisation as well as of the cytostatic combination treatment are described, taking into special consideration inoperable or metastasized solid tumours. From the study which was carried out during a period of 15 years results that a combination treatment referred in the individual doses to body weight and blood picture apparantly achieves better results than the other forms of therapy, whereby the risk of complications is relatively low.
