RESUMEN

Presented is the description of the 41-year-old patient who was delivered to the emergency department of the clinical hospital. The patient has clinical manifestations of the stroke. Intracerebral hematoma of the right cerebral hemisphere was diagnosed on clinical examination. Serosurrey was positive for syphilis. Due to the suspected neurosyphilis, the central laboratory performed additional examination.

RESUMEN

A rise in the incidence of latent and late forms of neuro- and visceral syphilis significantly complicates diagnostics of the disease in patients admitted to emergency medicine clinics. Syphilis is believed to be a cause of roughly 0.5% of all cardiopathies. Late syphilitic lesions of the cardiovascular system (cardiovascular syphilis) occur in 0.25-0.96% patients in need of therapeutic treatment, 93.4% of them present with mesaortitis but its life-time diagnosis is possible only in 10% of the cases. Syphilitic lesions in the aorta are especially well apparent at the points of its branching into coronary arteries of the heart and aortic arch. One of the main consequences of syphilitic aortitis is the narrowing of coronary arteries frequently complicated by atherosclerosis, coronary thrombosis, and the resulting myocardial infarction. Another severe complication of syphilitic aortitis is progressive aortic valve insufficiency (in 25-50% of the patients) related to dilatation of the valve ring affected by inflammation. Some patients develop bacterial endocarditis of the aortic valve. Close localization of the coronary artery junction and the aortic valve account for a combination of aortic valve insufficiency and coronary insufficiency in patients with syphilitic process in the initial part of aorta. A case report is presented.

RESUMEN

Urogenital trichomoniasis is an infectious inflammatory disease of the urogenital system caused by protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis and characterized by rapid dissemination and development of complications. Because laboratory diagnosis by microscopic methods encounters difficulty, we undertook detection of T. vaginalis by microscopic study of native and stained (methylene blue, acridine orange, Gram, Romanovsky-Giemsa) uretheral scrapings. 69 patients having no clinical signs of the disease were examined after sexual contacts with women suffering infection of the urogenital tract. Staining with acridine orange and by Romanovsky-Giemsa method proved the most informative methods for diagnosis of torpid trichomoniasis (85.5 and 75.4% respectively). The study of native samples is of little informative value (5.8%). The data obtained were used to develop an algorithm of microscopic investigation for the examination of patients with urogenital acute, subacute or chronic trichomoniasis and carriers of T. vaginalis.

RESUMEN

According to conception of evolution of the service of clinical laboratory diagnostics of RF for period 2003-2010, "the laboratory service requires a grand reorganization and correction of some sections with a glance to maximal possible economical expenses, connected with re-equipment of clinical-diagnostic laboratories, in conditions of improvement of theirs diagnostic effectiveness". The conception is elaborated in accordance to active legislation of RF and to the resolution of "Conference of main specialists in the sphere of clinical laboratory diagnostic" of constituent of the Russian Federation from 17.04.2002. The article presents a survey of problems, existing in laboratory service of the central hospital, and ways of theirs solving.

RESUMEN

Nonspecific resistance was studied in patients in acute psychotic poisoning complicated with varying pneumonias. The indices obtained during long (120-min) blood incubation with an object of phagocytosis, namely phagocytic index, phagocytic number, bactericidity index, HCT test, and cytochemical activity index were shown to be of the highest informative value that characterizes the state of nonspecific mechanisms of immune protection. The diminished microphagocytic functional activity along with the severity of pneumonia was ascertained to result in the development of an inflammatory process.

RESUMEN

Intravenous laser therapy in combination with medication was conducted in 41 elderly patients with coronary heart disease (633 nm, 1 mW, 124 mW/cm2). The study of qualitative and quantitative (osmotic resistance) erythrocyte indices of blood demonstrated the change of erythrocyte number in circulating blood by the third laser procedure. Frequency of these changes correlated with duration of the treatment course. Intravenous laser therapy had a wider spectrum of effects on erythrocyte number than medication. Changes in erythrocyte number in the peripheral blood upon intravenous laser radiation reflects efficiency of treatment of coronary heart disease patients.

RESUMEN

The responses to laser therapy (intravenous, continuous skin exposure without a magnet, magnetic laser therapy) of 83 patients with coronary heart disease aged 50-80 demonstrated the advantages of noninvasive laser irradiation of blood. Myeloperoxidase activity may serve a criterion for estimating the number of irradiation procedures needed.
