RESUMEN

The 3D point cloud data are used to analyze plant morphological structure. Organ segmentation of a single plant can be directly used to determine the accuracy and reliability of organ-level phenotypic estimation in a point-cloud study. However, it is difficult to achieve a high-precision, automatic, and fast plant point cloud segmentation. Besides, a few methods can easily integrate the global structural features and local morphological features of point clouds relatively at a reduced cost. In this paper, a distance field-based segmentation pipeline (DFSP) which could code the global spatial structure and local connection of a plant was developed to realize rapid organ location and segmentation. The terminal point clouds of different plant organs were first extracted via DFSP during the stem-leaf segmentation, followed by the identification of the low-end point cloud of maize stem based on the local geometric features. The regional growth was then combined to obtain a stem point cloud. Finally, the instance segmentation of the leaf point cloud was realized using DFSP. The segmentation method was tested on 420 maize and compared with the manually obtained ground truth. Notably, DFSP had an average processing time of 1.52 s for about 15,000 points of maize plant data. The mean precision, recall, and micro F1 score of the DFSP segmentation algorithm were 0.905, 0.899, and 0.902, respectively. These findings suggest that DFSP can accurately, rapidly, and automatically achieve maize stem-leaf segmentation tasks and could be effective in maize phenotype research. Nowadays low Earth orbit (LEO) Earth observation (EO) satellites commonly use constant coding modulation (CCM) or variable coding modulation (VCM) schemes for data transmission to ground stations (G/S). Compared with CCM and VCM, the adaptive coding modulation (ACM) could further improve the data throughput of the link by making full use of link resource and the time-varying characteristics of atmospheric attenuation. In order to comprehensively study the data transmission performance, one new index which could be utilized as a quantitative index for the satellite-to-ground data transmission scheme selection, the transmission efficiency factor (TEF) of LEO satellites is proposed and defined as "the product of the link availability and the average useful data rate". Then, the transmission efficiency of CCM, VCM and ACM at typical G/S with different weather characteristics at Ka-band is compared and analyzed. The results show that ACM is more suitable for the G/S with moderate and abundant rainfall. Compared with the CCM of MCS 28, for Beijing G/S and Sanya G/S, ACM not only improves the transmission efficiency with the TEF increased by 3.62% and 24.51%, respectively, but also improves the link availability with the outage period reduced by 82.47% and 75.18%, respectively.

Panchromatic (PAN) images contain abundant spatial information that is useful for earth observation, but always suffer from low-resolution ( LR) due to the sensor limitation and large-scale view field. The current super-resolution (SR) methods based on traditional attention mechanism have shown remarkable advantages but remain imperfect to reconstruct the edge details of SR images. To address this problem, an improved SR model which involves the self-attention augmented Wasserstein generative adversarial network ( SAA-WGAN) is designed to dig out the reference information among multiple features for detail enhancement. We use an encoder-decoder network followed by a fully convolutional network (FCN) as the backbone to extract multi-scale features and reconstruct the High-resolution (HR) results. To exploit the relevance between multi-layer feature maps, we first integrate a convolutional block attention module (CBAM) into each skip-connection of the encoder-decoder subnet, generating weighted maps to enhance both channel-wise and spatial-wise feature representation automatically. Besides, considering that the HR results and LR inputs are highly similar in structure, yet cannot be fully reflected in traditional attention mechanism, we, therefore, designed a self augmented attention (SAA) module, where the attention weights are produced dynamically via a similarity function between hidden features; this design allows the network to flexibly adjust the fraction relevance among multi-layer features and keep the long-range inter information, which is helpful to preserve details. In addition, the pixel-wise loss is combined with perceptual and gradient loss to achieve comprehensive supervision. Experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other SR methods in terms of both objective evaluation and visual effect.

RESUMEN

Based on the S-curve model of the detector response of infrared focal plan arrays (IRFPAs), an improved two-point correction algorithm is presented. The algorithm first transforms the nonlinear image data into linear data and then uses the normal two-point algorithm to correct the linear data. The algorithm can effectively overcome the influence of nonlinearity of the detector's response, and it enlarges the correction precision and the dynamic range of the response. A real-time imaging-signal-processing system for IRFPAs that is based on a digital signal processor and field-programmable gate arrays is also presented. The nonuniformity correction capability of the presented solution is validated by experimental imaging procedures of a 128 x 128 pixel IRFPA camera prototype.
