RESUMEN

Drawing upon data from the 2018 CHARLS, this paper utilizes MEPI and a 10% threshold indicator to, respectively, assess the energy poverty (EP) status among middle-aged and older adults in China, focusing on the unavailability and unaffordability of energy services. Additionally, an econometric model is constructed to investigate the effects of EP on the health and welfare of middle-aged and older adults. Regression results indicate that EP exerts a significant negative impact on the health and welfare of middle-aged and older adults. This conclusion remains robust after conducting endogeneity and robustness tests, demonstrating its validity. Finally, based on the calculation results, we propose relevant policy recommendations including enhancing energy services for older adults in rural areas, integrating household energy alternatives with targeted poverty alleviation, enhancing monitoring mechanisms, and conducting energy education activities to alleviate EP and improve the quality of life of middle-aged and older adults.

BACKGROUND: Previous researches have reported the relationship between uric acid and cardiovascular disease. We aimed to investigate the association of Life's Essential 8, a recently updated measurement of cardiovascular health, with the prevalence of hyperuricemia (HUA) and gout among US adults. Additionally, we also explored the relationship between LE8 and all-cause mortality among patients with HUA or gout. METHODS: Participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2007-2016 were involved in this study. LE8 score was categorized into low, moderate, high CVH groups according to American Heart Association definitions. Multivariable logistic regression and cox regression analyses, restricted cubic spline models, subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were used to explore the associations. RESULTS: A total of 23,619 adult participants were included in this study, which included 4,775 hyperuricemia patients and 1,055 gout patients. Among all participants, the overall median LE8 score was 65.62 (21.25) and the prevalence of hyperuricemia and gout of were 20.2% and 4.5%, respectively. After fully adjusted the potential confounders, participants in high CVH group had a lower prevalence of hyperuricemia and gout compared with the low CVH group, with a OR (95%CI) of 0.50 (0.39-0.63) and 0.50 (0.30-0.82), respectively. The restricted cubic spline showed a significantly inverse relationship between LE8 and hyperuricemia and gout. Similar patterns were also identified in the association between LE8 scores and all-cause mortality in HUA and gout patients. CONCLUSIONS: Higher LE8 scores are associated with lower risk and lower all-cause mortality of HUA and gout among US adults. Adherence to optimal CVH metrics may be an appropriate prevention and management strategy for reducing the socioeconomic burden of hyperuricemia and gout.

Intestine derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is closely related to systemic inflammation and disorders, yet little is known about its roles in the weanling stress of piglets and its potential as a nutritional intervention target. This study aimed to investigate the potential of essential oils (EO) and organic acids (OA) in mitigating weaning stress in piglets by modulating the circulation of intestine derived LPS. Seventy-two weaned piglets at 21 d old with body weight of 8.12 ± 0.168 kg were randomly divided into a control group (CON) and an experimental group, each consisting of six pens with six piglets per pen, and were fed either a basal diet or a basal diet supplemented with 3 kg/t OA + 500 g/t EO (EO + OA). On the 14th day of the feeding trial, 12 weaned piglets were randomly selected from the CON group, and 6 piglets were selected from the experimental group. Based on diet composition and stress treatment, these 18 piglets were divided into the following three groups: 1) CON group. Piglets were fed a basal diet and received an intraperitoneal injection of saline as a control. 2) LPS group. Piglets were fed a basal diet and received an intraperitoneal injection of LPS (100 µg/kg body weight) to induce stress. 3) EO + OA + LPS group. Piglets were fed a basal diet supplemented with EO and OA and received an intraperitoneal injection of LPS (100 µg/kg body weight) to induce stress. The results showed that EO + OA significantly ameliorated the oxidative imbalance and inflammation disorder induced by LPS in piglets' serum and intestine by inhibiting the activation of the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. Furthermore, compared to the LPS group, supplementation with EO + OA restored LPS-induced reductions in Bcl-2 protein expression in the piglets' intestines (P < 0.05) and mitigated morphological damage; it also enhanced both the protein expression and relative gene expression of the tight junction proteins occludin and claudin-1 (P < 0.05), and reduced the plasma diamine oxidase activity (DAO) and LPS content (P < 0.05). Compared to the CON group, supplementation with EO + OA altered the composition of the intestinal microbiota, increasing beneficial bacteria relative abundance (Faecalibacterium) (P < 0.05) and decreasing harmful bacteria relative abundance [Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group (P < 0.01), Negativibacillus (P < 0.05)]. Further analysis revealed that plasma LPS content in piglets was negatively correlated with the relative abundance of Faecalibacterium (r = -0.662, P = 0.021), Akkermansia (r = -0.492, P = 0.031), and average daily gain (ADG) (r = -0.912, P = 0.041). Plasma LPS content was also positively correlated with the plasma inflammatory factors interleukin (IL)-1ß (r = 0.591, P = 0.021), IL-6 (r = 0.623, P = 0.021), IL-12 (r = 561, P = 0.031) contents, and the relative abundance of Negativibacillus (r = 0.712, P = 0.041). In summary, the addition of EO + OA prevents the leakage of intestine derived LPS into the circulation by improving intestinal integrity and microbiota composition, thereby enhancing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities and growth performance of weaned piglets.

OBJECTIVE: Nowadays, the prevalence of cognitive impairment in women has gradually increased, especially in postmenopausal women. There were few studies on the mechanistic effects of iron exposure on neurotoxicity in postmenopausal women. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of iron accumulation on cognitive ability in ovariectomized mice and its possible mechanism and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention of cognitive dysfunction in postmenopausal women. METHODS: Female C57BL/6N ovariectomized model mice were induced with ferric citrate (FAC). The mice were randomly divided into 5 groups: control, sham, ovariectomized (Ovx), Ovx + 50 mg/kg FAC (Ovx + l), and Ovx + 100 mg/kg FAC (Ovx + h). The impact of motor and cognitive function was verified by a series of behavioral tests. The levels of serum iron parameters, malondialdehyde, and superoxide dismutase were measured. The ultrastructure of mice hippocampal microglia was imaged by transmission electron microscopy. The differential expression of hippocampal proteins was analyzed by Tandem Mass Tag labeling. RESULTS: Movement and cognitive function in Ovx + l/Ovx + h mice were significantly decreased compared to control and Sham mice. Then, iron exposure caused histopathological changes in the hippocampus of mice. In addition, proteomic analysis revealed that 29/27/41 proteins were differentially expressed in the hippocampus when compared by Ovx vs. Sham, Ovx + l vs. Ovx, as well as Ovx + h vs. Ovx + l groups, respectively. Moreover, transferrin receptor protein (TFR1) and divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1) protein expression were significantly increased in the iron accumulation mice model with ovariectomy. CONCLUSION: Iron exposure could cause histopathological damage in the hippocampus of ovariectomised mice and, by altering hippocampal proteomics, particularly the expression of hippocampal iron metabolism-related proteins, could further influence cognitive impairment in ovariectomized mice.

Blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have attracted enormous attention; however, their unsatisfactory device efficiency and spectral stability still remain great challenges. Unfavorable low-dimensional phase distribution and defects with deeper energy levels usually cause energy disorder, substantially limiting the device's performance. Here, an additive-interface optimization strategy is reported to tackle these issues, thus realizing efficient and spectrally stable blue PeLEDs. A new type of additive-formamidinium tetrafluorosuccinate (FATFSA) is introduced into the quasi-2D mixed halide perovskite accompanied by interface engineering, which effectively impedes the formation of undesired low-dimensional phases with various bandgaps throughout the entire film, thereby boosting energy transfer process for accelerating radiative recombination; this strategy also diminishes the halide vacancies especially chloride-related defects with deep energy level, thus reducing nonradiative energy loss for efficient radiative recombination. Benefitting from homogenized energy landscape throughout the entire perovskite emitting layer, PeLEDs with spectrally-stable blue emission (478 nm) and champion external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 21.9% are realized, which represents a record value among this type of PeLEDs in the pure blue region.

Background: Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) proves a safe and effective treatment for choledochal stones. After LCBDE, preferred choledochal closure is favored for short- and long-term outcomes compared with t-tube drainage. However, there are no relevant studies on the technique of layered closure of the common bile duct with double-needle bidirectional barbed suture at home and abroad. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study of 37 patients who underwent laparoscopic choledochotomy from January 2021 to October 2023 in our hospital was performed. A continuous layered one-stage suture using two-needle bidirectional barb wire. The primary outcomes were stone clearance, operative time, blood loss, and complications. Secondary outcomes were complications, length of hospitalization, and time to drain removal. Results: During the study period, laparoscopic surgery was successful in all cases, and the initial stones were removed without complications. Conclusion: The treatment of choledocholithiasis with continuous layered one-stage suture with double-needle bidirectional barbed wire after LCBDE is a new convenient and effective treatment in selected patients.

OBJECTIVES: Owing to differences in cultural background, education level, and lifestyle, certain items of existing tinnitus evaluation scales are difficult for Chinese patients to understand, despite being translated. However, few independently developed scales have been developed specifically for Chinese patients. Therefore, with this study, we aimed to construct a tinnitus scale, the West China Tinnitus Impact Inventory (WCTII), suitable for the accurate reflection of the impact and severity of the disease in this population. DESIGN: Basic items were obtained through semistructured interviews with patients with tinnitus. We invited 23 domestic experts on tinnitus to form an expert group. The basic items were modified using the Delphi method. Cronbach's α values for the scale scores and correlation coefficients between the items and the scale scores were calculated. Items with correlation coefficients <0.5 were deleted. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine the scale structure of the items remaining after item deletion. The intragroup correlation coefficient was used to assess the scale's test-retest reliability. The Pearson correlation coefficient between the scale scores and the scores for the Chinese-Mandarin version of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory was used to evaluate concurrent validity. RESULTS: After five rounds of expert correspondence and exploratory factor analysis, we determined the content and structure of the scale. The WCTII consists of 19 items in 4 subscales, namely, F1: the impact of tinnitus on emotion (items 1 to 9); F2: the impact of tinnitus on sleep (items 10 to 12); F3: patients' beliefs about their tinnitus (items 13 to 16, 19); and F4: the impact of tinnitus on auditory processing ability (items 17 to 18). The overall Cronbach's α was 0.934. The Cronbach's α values for F1 to F4 were 0.912, 0.843, 0.829, and 0.838, respectively. The intragroup correlation coefficient (95% confidence interval) of the total scale and F1 to F4 were 0.779 (0.549 to 0.886), 0.738 (0.496 to 0.860), 0.826 (0.713 to 0.897), 0.720 (0.536 to 0.836), and 0.715 (0.532 to 0.832), respectively. The correlation between the WCTII and Chinese-Mandarin version of the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory scores was 0.849 (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The WCTII yielded satisfactory reliability and validity, indicating that it can be used to assess the severity of tinnitus in Chinese patients.

Time-modulated array antenna (TMAA) is a new type of array antenna based on time modulation technology. By introducing "time" as the fourth dimensional design freedom into the design of conventional array antennas in three-dimensional space, the array antenna has time modulation characteristics, which better controls the radiation characteristics of the array antenna and achieves the best far-field radiation pattern synthesis. This paper designs a Time-modulated linear array (TMLA) with low sidelobe level (SLL) and low sideband level (SBL) based on the chaotic exchange nonlinear dandelion optimization (CENDO) algorithm. Three optimization methods are studied: firstly, determining the optimal on-time (τnn) for each array element; The second is to determine the optimal on-time (τnn) and optimal uniform array element spacing (d) for each array element; The third is to determine the optimal opening time (ton), closing time (toff), and optimal uniform array element spacing (d) for each array element. To achieve simultaneous reduction of sidelobe level and suppression of harmonic interference. The same array model contains different harmonic frequency radiation. In this article, we only considered two harmonic frequencies, namely the first sideband frequency and the second sideband frequency. Because the harmonic of other sideband frequencies has a very small impact on the radiation of the fundamental wave, it can be ignored. To demonstrate the stronger ability of the CENDO algorithm in optimizing Time-modulated array antennas, and in line with the principle of fairness and impartiality, this paper also simulates different Time-modulated array models and compares the results of the CENDO algorithm with other published literature. It is concluded that this study shows lower SLL and lower SBL in different models. This provides a more scientific and accurate explanation of the superiority of the CENDO algorithm compared to other algorithms in the field of antenna optimization in electromagnetics. At the same time, this also provides great research value and fundamental support for designing high-performance Time-modulated array antennas in subsequent engineering applications.

Accurately assessing the key factors influencing air pollution is crucial for effective air pollution control. To address this need, we propose a novel Hybrid Features Grey Incidence Model (HFGIM), which integrates geometric feature differences from both proximity and similarity perspectives. Firstly, we extract geometric feature difference vectors of proximity and similarity from time series data and measure the overall feature difference degree by calculating vector norms. Secondly, we calculate the relative feature differences and information contribution rates of proximity and similarity to derive the hybrid feature differences coefficient between sequences, thereby obtaining the hybrid features incidence degree. After detailing the model's properties and modeling steps, we introduce the Cross-sectional Data Hybrid Features Grey Incidence Model (C-HFGIM) and the Panel Data Hybrid Features Grey Incidence Model (P-HFGIM) for handling cross-sectional and panel data, respectively. Applying HFGIM, we identified the key pollutants and primary pollution source indicators of air pollution in Jiangsu Province. We also compared HFGIM with other classical grey incidence models to verify the proposed model's effectiveness. Based on the analysis results, we propose policy recommendations for air pollution control in Jiangsu Province.

Silage is an excellent method of feed preservation; however, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide produced during fermentation are significant sources of agricultural greenhouse gases. Therefore, determining a specific production method is crucial for reducing global warming. The effects of four temperatures (10 °C, 20 °C, 30 °C, and 40 °C) on silage quality, greenhouse gas yield and microbial community composition of forage sorghum were investigated. At 20 °C and 30 °C, the silage has a lower pH value and a higher lactic acid content, resulting in higher silage quality and higher total gas production. In the first five days of ensiling, there was a significant increase in the production of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. After that, the output remained relatively stable, and their production at 20 °C and 30 °C was significantly higher than that at 10 °C and 40 °C. Firmicutes and Proteobacteria were the predominant silage microorganisms at the phylum level. Under the treatment of 20 °C, 30 °C, and 40 °C, Lactobacillus had already dominated on the second day of silage. However, low temperatures under 10 °C slowed down the microbial community succession, allowing, bad microorganisms such as Chryseobacterium, Pantoea and Pseudomonas dominate the fermentation, in the early stage of ensiling, which also resulted in the highest bacterial network complexity. According to random forest and structural equation model analysis, the production of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide is mainly affected by microorganisms such as Lactobacillus, Klebsiella and Enterobacter, and temperature influences the activity of these microorganisms to mediate gas production in silage. This study helps reveal the relationship between temperature, microbial community and greenhouse gas production during silage fermentation, providing a reference for clean silage fermentation.

Object detection, a fundamental and challenging problem in computer vision, has experienced rapid development due to the effectiveness of deep learning. The current objects to be detected are mostly rigid solid substances with apparent and distinct visual characteristics. In this paper, we endeavor on a scarcely explored task named Gaseous Object Detection (GOD), which is undertaken to explore whether the object detection techniques can be extended from solid substances to gaseous substances. Nevertheless, the gas exhibits significantly different visual characteristics: 1) saliency deficiency, 2) arbitrary and ever-changing shapes, 3) lack of distinct boundaries. To facilitate the study on this challenging task, we construct a GOD-Video dataset comprising 600 videos (141,017 frames) that cover various attributes with multiple types of gases. A comprehensive benchmark is established based on this dataset, allowing for a rigorous evaluation of frame-level and video-level detectors. Deduced from the Gaussian dispersion model, the physics-inspired Voxel Shift Field (VSF) is designed to model geometric irregularities and ever-changing shapes in potential 3D space. By integrating VSF into Faster RCNN, the VSF RCNN serves as a simple but strong baseline for gaseous object detection. Our work aims to attract further research into this valuable albeit challenging area.

Objectives: Part of the tumor localization methods in radiotherapy have poor real-time performance and may generate additional radiation. We propose a multimodal point cloud-based method for tumor localization in robotic ultrasound-guided radiotherapy, which only irradiates computed tomography (CT) during radiotherapy planning to avoid additional radiation. Methods: The tumor position was determined using the CT point cloud, and the red green blue depth (RGBD) point cloud was used to determine body surface scanning location corresponding to the tumor location. The relationship between the CT point cloud and RGBD point cloud was established through multi-modal point cloud registration. The point cloud was then used for robot tumor localization through coordinate transformation between camera and robot. Results: The maximum mean absolute error of the tumor location in the X, Y, and Z directions of the robot coordinate system were 0.781, 1.334, and 1.490 mm, respectively. The average point-to-point translation mean absolute error between the actual and predicted positions of the localization points was 1.847 mm. The maximum error in the random positioning experiment was 1.77 mm. Conclusion: The proposed method is radiation free and has real-time performance, with tumor localization accuracy that meets the requirements of radiotherapy. The proposed method, which potentially reduces the risks associated with radiation exposure while ensuring efficient and accurate tumor localization, represents a promising advancement in the field of radiotherapy.

Chronic liver disease, a long-term condition resulting from various causes such as alcohol abuse, metabolic disorders, and viral hepatitis, is becoming a significant global health challenge. Gypenosides (GPs), derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.) Makino, exhibited hepatoprotective properties in recent years, yet the precise therapeutic mechanism remains unclear. In this study, label-free and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) proteomics were used to elucidate the hepatoprotective mechanism of GPs in liver injury rats. Through label-free proteomics, we identified 2104 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) associated with liver injury, along with 1974 DEPs related to the effects of GPs. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that GPs primarily restored metabolic processes involving valine, leucine, and isoleucine degradation, as well as propanoate and butanoate metabolism, and steroid hormone biosynthesis during liver injury. Subsequently, overlapping the two groups of DEPs identified 1508 proteins reversed following GPs treatment, with key targets further validated by PRM. Eight target proteins were identified for GPs treatment of liver injury, including Lgals3, Psat1, Phgdh, Cyp3a9, Cyp2c11, Cyp4a2, Glul, and Ces1d. These findings not only elucidated the hepatoprotective mechanism of GPs, but may also serve as potential therapeutic targets of chronic liver disease.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Liver injury is one of the common complications of paraquat (PQ) poisoning, but whether the degree of liver injury is related to patient prognosis is still controversial. This study aimed to investigate whether liver injury was a risk factor for death in PQ-poisoned patients. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of PQ-poisoned patients from the past 10 years (2011-2020) from a large tertiary academic medical centre in China. PQ-poisoned patients were divided into a normal liver function group (n = 580) and a liver injury group (n = 60). Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was then performed. RESULTS: A total of 640 patients with PQ poisoning were included in this study. To reduce the impact of bias, dose of PQ, urinary PQ concentration and time from poisoning to hospital admission were matched between the two groups. A 3:1 PSM analysis was performed, ultimately including 240 patients. Compared with the normal liver function group, patients in the liver injury group were older, had a higher R value ([ALT/ULN]/[ALP/ULN]) (p < .001) and had a higher mortality rate. Cox regression analysis showed that there was no significant association between alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin levels and hazard of death, but age, PQ dose, creatine kinase isoenzyme, creatine kinase, white blood cell count, neutrophil percentage and lymphocyte percentage were associated with mortality in patients with PQ poisoning. CONCLUSIONS: The occurrence of liver injury within 48 h after PQ poisoning was a risk factor for mortality, and such liver injury was likely of a hepatocellular nature. Age, PQ dose, creatine kinase isoenzyme and white blood cell count were positively correlated with mortality, while creatine kinase, percentage of neutrophils and lymphocytes were inversely correlated.

Psychoactive substances, including morphine and methamphetamine, have been shown to interact with the classic innate immune receptor Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and its partner protein myeloid differentiation protein 2 (MD2) in a nonenantioselective manner. (-)-Nicotine, the primary alkaloid in tobacco and a key component of highly addictive cigarettes, targets the TLR4/MD2, influencing TLR4 signaling pathways. Existing as two enantiomers, the stereoselective recognition of nicotine by TLR4/MD2 in the context of the innate immune response remains unclear. In this study, we synthesized (+)-nicotine and investigated its effects alongside (-)-nicotine on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced TLR4 signaling. (-)-Nicotine dose-dependently inhibited proinflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). In contrast, (+)-nicotine showed no such inhibitory effects. Molecular dynamics simulations revealed that (-)-nicotine exhibited a stronger affinity with the TLR4 coreceptor MD2 than (+)-nicotine. Additionally, in silico simulations revealed that both nicotine enantiomers initially attach to the entrance of the MD2 cavity, creating a metastable state before they fully enter the cavity. In the metastable state, (-)-nicotine established more stable interactions with the surrounding residues at the entrance of the MD2 cavity compared to those of (+)-nicotine. This highlights the crucial role of the MD2 cavity entrance in the chiral recognition of nicotine. These findings provide valuable insights into the distinct interactions between nicotine enantiomers and the TLR4 coreceptor MD2, underscoring the enantioselective effect of nicotine on modulating TLR4 signaling.

Despite mounting evidence for dietary protease benefits, the mechanisms beyond enhanced protein degradation are poorly understood. This study aims to thoroughly investigate the impact of protease addition on the growth performance, intestinal function, and microbial composition of weaned piglets. Ninety 28-day-old weaned pigs were randomly assigned to the following three experimental diets based on their initial body weight for a 28-day experiment: (1) control (CC), a basic diet with composite enzymes without protease; (2) negative control (NC), a diet with no enzymes; and (3) dietary protease (PR), a control diet with protease. The results show that dietary proteases significantly enhanced growth performance and boosted antioxidant capacity, increasing the total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) levels (p < 0.05) while reducing malonaldehyde levels (p < 0.05). Additionally, protease addition reduced serum levels of inflammatory markers TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-6 (p < 0.05), suppressed mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory factors in the jejunum (p < 0.01), and inhibited MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways. Moreover, protease-supplemented diets improved intestinal morphology and barrier integrity, including zonula occludens protein 1(ZO-1), Occludin, and Claudin-1 (p < 0.05). Microbiota compositions were also significantly altered by protease addition with increased abundance of beneficial bacteria (Lachnospiraceae_AC2044_group and Prevotellaceae_UCG-001) (p < 0.05) and reduced harmful Terrisporobacter (p < 0.05). Further correlation analysis revealed a positive link between beneficial bacteria and growth performance and a negative association with inflammatory factors and intestinal permeability. In summary, dietary protease addition enhanced growth performance in weaned piglets, beneficial effects which were associated with improved intestinal barrier integrity, immunological response, and microbiota composition.

Introduction: Weeds are significant factors that detrimentally affect crop health and hinder optimal herbage yield. Rhizosphere microorganisms play crucial roles in plant growth, development, and nutrient uptake. Therefore, research focusing on weed control through the lens of microorganisms has emerged as a prominent area of study. The oil-producing fungus Mortierella, which is known for its numerous agricultural benefits, has garnered significant attention in recent years. Methods: In this study, we conducted inoculation experiments in a controlled artificial culture climate chamber to investigate the effects of differential hormones and differentially expressed genes in the stems and leaves of Digitaria sanguinalis using Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry and RNA-seq techniques, respectively. Additionally, Pearson's correlation analysis was used to establish correlations between differential hormones and growth indicators of Digitaria sanguinalis. Results and discussion: The results demonstrated that inoculation with Mortierella sp. MXBP304 effectively suppressed aboveground biomass and plant height in Digitaria sanguinalis. Furthermore, there was significant upregulation and downregulation in the expression of genes involved in the synthesis and metabolism of phenylalanine and L-phenylalanine. Conversely, the expression of genes related to tryptophan, L-tryptophan, and indole was significantly downregulated. The addition of Mortierella sp. MXBP304 can influence the gene expression associated with phenylalanine and tryptophan synthesis and metabolism during Digitaria sanguinalis growth, subsequently reducing the relative contents of phenylalanine and tryptophan, thereby directly inhibiting Digitaria sanguinalis growth.

Ovarian fibrosis, characterized by the excessive proliferation of ovarian fibroblasts and the accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM), serves as one of the primary causes of ovarian dysfunction. Despite the critical role of ovarian fibrosis in maintaining the normal physiological function of the mammalian ovaries, research on this condition has been greatly underestimated, which leads to a lack of clinical treatment options for ovarian dysfunction caused by fibrosis. This review synthesizes recent research on the molecular mechanisms of ovarian fibrosis, encompassing TGF-ß, extracellular matrix, inflammation, and other profibrotic factors contributing to abnormal ovarian fibrosis. Additionally, we summarize current treatment approaches for ovarian dysfunction targeting ovarian fibrosis, including antifibrotic drugs, stem cell transplantation, and exosomal therapies. The purpose of this review is to summarize the research progress on ovarian fibrosis and to propose potential therapeutic strategies targeting ovarian fibrosis for the treatment of ovarian dysfunction.

Kinases, a class of enzymes controlling various substrates phosphorylation, are pivotal in both physiological and pathological processes. Although their conserved ATP binding pockets pose challenges for achieving selectivity, this feature offers opportunities for drug repositioning of kinase inhibitors (KIs). This study presents a cost-effective in silico prediction of KIs drug repositioning via analyzing cross-docking results. We established the KIs database (278 unique KIs, 1834 bioactivity data points) and kinases database (357 kinase structures categorized by the DFG motif) for carrying out cross-docking. Comparative analysis of the docking scores and reported experimental bioactivity revealed that the Atypical, TK, and TKL superfamilies are suitable for drug repositioning. Among these kinase superfamilies, Olverematinib, Lapatinib, and Abemaciclib displayed enzymatic activity in our focused AKT-PI3K-mTOR pathway with IC50 values of 3.3, 3.2 and 5.8 µM. Further cell assays showed IC50 values of 0.2, 1.2 and 0.6 µM in tumor cells. The consistent result between prediction and validation demonstrated that repositioning KIs via in silico method is feasible.

To address the issues of sluggish response and inadequate precision in traditional gate opening control systems, this study presents a novel approach for direct current (DC) motor control utilizing an enhanced beetle antennae search (BAS) algorithm to fine-tune the parameters of a fuzzy proportional integral derivative (PID) controller. Initially, the mathematical model of the DC motor drive system is formulated. Subsequently, employing a search algorithm, the three parameters of the PID controller are optimized in accordance with the control requirements. Next, software simulation is employed to analyze the system's response time and overshoot. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted between fuzzy PID control based on the improved beetle antennae search algorithm, and conventional approaches such as the traditional beetle antennae search algorithm, the traditional particle swarm algorithm, and the enhanced particle swarm algorithm. The findings indicate the superior performance of the proposed method, characterized by reduced oscillations and accelerated convergence compared to the alternative methods.
