RESUMEN

Broodiness in egg-laying hens (EHs) leads to ovarian atrophy, resulting in reduced egg-laying performance. However, the ovarian regulatory mechanisms in broody hens (BCs) remain elusive. Therefore, ovaries were removed from 300-day-old BCs and EHs for RNA sequencing. Ovarian morphology and histological characteristics of the BC and EH groups were compared and analyzed. The EH group had significantly more hierarchical follicles (HFs) and small yellow follicles (SYFs) than that of the BC group. Although several secondary follicles (SFs) and primary follicles were observed in the ovaries of the EH group, only a few SFs were observed in the ovaries of the BC group. Subsequently, RNA-sequencing analysis was conducted to determine the ovarian expression profiles of the two groups. Transcriptome sequencing identified 259 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the BC and EH groups. Of the 259 DEGs, 136 were upregulated and 123 were downregulated. The DEGs were mapped to 22 gene ontology terms and 4 Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways for ovarian tissue. The analysis showed that matrix metalloproteinases 11/13 (MMP11/MMP13) were enriched in the extracellular matrix. The extracellular matrix mediated by MMP13 is affected by follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, and estrogen, which are critical signaling pathways that may affect ovarian follicle development to regulate the large yellow follicle reserve process and the ovulation cycle of broody Chahua chickens. These findings indicate that understanding differences in gene expression between the ovarian tissues of BCs and EHs could serve as a valuable reference point for enhancing egg-laying performance in Chahua chickens.

Objective: To characterize the value of carotid wall shear stress (WSS) following carotid artery stenting (CAS) in patients with carotid stenosis. Methods: Twenty-eight patients with carotid stenosis treated with CAS between March 2021 to May 2022 in the eighth medical center of the PLA General Hospital were selected for our study. Carotid ultrasound was performed before the operation, one week post-operation, and six months post-operation. Carotid artery WSS was detected by blood flow vector imaging, and the changes in WSS before and after the operation were collected. Genetic testing of drugs was detected for patients with restenosis. Results: Pre-operative WSS of the proximal, narrowest region, and distal carotid arteries in patients with ischemic carotid artery stenosis was 7.88 ± 3.18Pa, 14.36 ± 6.66Pa, and 1.55 ± 1.15Pa, respectively. Comparatively, pre-operative WSS of the proximal, narrowest region and distal carotid arteries in patients without ischemic symptoms was 5.02 ± 1.99Pa, 9.68 ± 4.23Pa, and 1.10 ± 0.68Pa, respectively, with a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.001). Overall WSS of the proximal, narrowest region, and distal carotid arteries in patients before CAS was 6.68 ± 3.0Pa, 12.47 ± 5.98Pa, and 1.39 ± 0. 96Pa. WSS of the proximal, narrowest region, and distal carotid was 4.15 ± 1.42Pa, 6.71 ± 2.64Pa, and1.86 ± 1.13Pa one week after CAS, compared to 4.44 ± 1.91Pa, 7.90 ± 4.38Pa, and 2. 36 ± 1.09Pa six months after CAS. WSS of the proximal and narrowest region of the carotid artery was reduced after carotid stenting, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference in WSS between one week and six months after stenting (P > 0.05). Conclusion: We employed early carotid WSS as a means of evaluating the efficacy of carotid artery stenting. Changes in carotid WSS are closely associated with carotid artery stenosis, providing valuable hemodynamic information for CAS treatment. This technique holds great application value in pre-operative evaluation and long-term follow-up.

Tumor angiogenesis is one of the typical hallmarks of tumor occurrence and development, and tumor neovascularization also exhibits distinct characteristics from normal blood vessels. As the number of cells and matrix inside the tumor increases, the biomechanical force is enhanced, specifically manifested as solid stress, fluid stress, stiffness, and topology. This mechanical microenvironment also provides shelter for tumors and intensifies angiogenesis, providing oxygen and nutritional support for tumor progression. During tumor development, the biomechanical microenvironment also emerges, which in turn feeds back to regulate the tumor progression, including tumor angiogenesis, and biochemical and biomechanical signals can regulate tumor angiogenesis. Blood vessels possess inherent sensitivity to mechanical stimuli, but compared to the extensive research on biochemical signal regulation, the study of the regulation of tumor neovascularization by biomechanical signals remains relatively scarce. Biomechanical forces can affect the phenotypic characteristics and mechanical signaling pathways of tumor blood vessels, directly regulating angiogenesis. Meanwhile, they can indirectly regulate tumor angiogenesis by causing an imbalance in angiogenesis signals and affecting stromal cell function. Understanding the regulatory mechanism of biomechanical forces in tumor angiogenesis is beneficial for better identifying and even taming the mechanical forces involved in angiogenesis, providing new therapeutic targets for tumor vascular normalization. Therefore, we summarized the composition of biomechanical forces and their direct or indirect regulation of tumor neovascularization. In addition, this review discussed the use of biomechanical forces in combination with anti-angiogenic therapies for the treatment of tumors, and biomechanical forces triggered delivery systems.

OBJECTIVE: Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are a prevalent form of vascular disease that can lead to fatal outcomes upon rupture. Mirror intracranial aneurysms (MIAs) are a specific type of multiple aneurysms situated symmetrically on both sides of the parent arteries. The factors contributing to the risk of MIA rupture, based on morphological and hemodynamic parameters, are currently controversial. Thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the risk factors for MIA rupture. METHODS: The study performed an electronic search of Chinese and English databases, including China national Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang, VIP, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library databases, and adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The morphological parameters (IA size, aspect ratio [AR], size ratio [SR], bottleneck factor [BNF], height-width ratio [HWR], irregular shape) and hemodynamic parameters (wall shear stress [WSS], low WSS area [LSA], oscillatory shear index [OSI]) were analyzed for their significance in determining the risk of MIA rupture. RESULTS: The analysis comprised 18 retrospective studies involving 647 patients, with a total of 1294 IAs detected, including 605 ruptured and 689 unruptured. The meta-analysis revealed that IA size, AR, SR, and irregular shape exhibited significant differences between the ruptured and unruptured groups, but HWR did not. In terms of hemodynamic parameters, WSS, OSI, and LSA were found to have significant differences between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrate that larger IAs, higher AR, SR, and BNF are associated with a higher risk of rupture in patients with MIAs, regardless of their location. there is no significant difference in HWR between the ruptured and unruptured groups. These preliminary findings offer valuable insights for clinical decision-making and a more comprehensive comprehension of the current MIA status. A wafer-bonded InGaAs/Si avalanche photodiode (APD) at a wavelength of 1550 nm was theoretically simulated. We focused on the effect of the I n 1-x G a x A s multigrading layers and bonding layers on the electric fields, electron and hole concentrations, recombination rates, and energy bands. In this work, I n 1-x G a x A s multigrading layers inserted between Si and InGaAs were adopted to reduce the discontinuity of the conduction band between Si and InGaAs. A bonding layer was introduced at the InGaAs/Si interface to isolate the mismatched lattices to achieve a high-quality InGaAs film. In addition, the bonding layer can further regulate the electric field distribution in the absorption and multiplication layers. The wafer-bonded InGaAs/Si APD, structured by a polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) bonding layer and I n 1-x G a x A s multigrading layers (x changes from 0.5 to 0.85), displayed the highest gain-bandwidth product (GBP). When the APD operates in Geiger mode, the single-photon detection efficiency (SPDE) of the photodiode is 20%, and the dark count rate (DCR) is 1 MHz at 300 K. Moreover, one finds that the DCR is lower than 1 kHz at 200 K. These results indicate that high-performance InGaAs/Si SPAD can be achieved through a wafer-bonded platform.

BACKGROUND: We aim to establish the characteristics of published cardio-oncology research of clinical trials by bibliometric analysis and to talk about the prospects and difficulties facing the development of cardio-oncology. METHODS: Search of data related to clinical trials in cardiac oncology from 1990 to 2022 from the Web of Science core collection. Using CiteSpace to perform co-citation analysis of authors, countries (regions) and institutions, journals and cited journals, cited authors and cited literature, and keywords. RESULTS: Of the 607 clinical trial studies, the number of papers published per year has increased over time. The regions with the greatest influence were North America (especially the United States) and Europe. Multicenter research has always been the focus of cardio-oncology research, but cross-regional cooperation was still lacking. Myocardial toxicity caused by anthracyclines has received the earliest attention and has been studied for the longest time. Meanwhile, the efficacy and cardiotoxicity of new anticancer drugs always came into focus, but at a slow pace. Few studies on myocardial toxicity were related to the treatment of tumors except breast cancer. Risk factors, heart disease, adverse outcomes, follow-up, and intervention protection were the major hotspots revealed by co-citation cluster. CONCLUSIONS: There is great potential for the development of clinical trials in cardio-oncology, especially in multicenter cooperation across different regions. Expansion of tumor types, myocardial toxicity of different drugs, and effective interventions in the research direction and design of clinical trials are necessary.

To provide a basis for further optimization of the polio sequential immunization schedule, this study evaluated the effectiveness of booster immunization with one dose of bivalent oral poliovirus vaccine (bOPV) at 48 months of age after different primary polio immunization schedules. At 48 months of age, one dose of bOPV was administered, and their poliovirus types 1-3 (PV1, PV2, and PV3, respectively)-specific neutralizing antibody levels were determined. Participants found to be negative for any type of PV-specific neutralizing antibody at 24, 36, or 48 months of age were re-vaccinated with inactivated polio vaccine (IPV). The 439 subjects who received a bOPV booster immunization at the age of 48 months had lower PV2-specific antibody levels compared with those who received IPV. One dose of IPV during basic polio immunization induced the lowest PV2-specific antibody levels. On the basis of our findings, to ensure that no less than 70% of the vaccinated have protection efficiency, we recommend the following: if basic immunization was conducted with 1IPV + 2bOPV (especially Sabin strain-based IPV), a booster immunization with IPV is recommended at 36 months of age, whereas if basic immunization was conducted with 2IPV + 1bOPV, a booster immunization with IPV is recommended at 48 months of age. A sequential immunization schedule of 2IPV + 1bOPV + 1IPV can not only maintain high levels of antibody against PV1 and PV3 but also increases immunity to PV2 and induces early intestinal mucosal immunity, with relatively good safety. Thus, this may be the best sequential immunization schedule for polio in countries or regions at high risk for polio.

Flexible core-shell 3D structures are essential for the development of soft sensors and actuators. Despite recent advancements in 3D printing, the fabrication of flexible 3D objects with internal architectures (such as channels and void spaces) remains challenging with liquid precursors due to the difficulty to maintain the printed structures. The difficulty of such fabrication is prominent especially when low-viscosity polysiloxane resins are used. This study presents a unique approach to applying direct ink writing (DIW) 3D printing in a three-phase system to overcome this limitation. We performed core-shell 3D printing using a low-viscosity commercial polysiloxane resin (Ecoflex 10) as shell inks combined with a coaxially extruded core liquid (Pluronic F127) in Bingham plastic microparticulate gels (ethanol gel). In the process termed embedded core-shell 3D printing (eCS3DP), we highlighted the dependence of the rheological characteristics of the three fluids on the stability of the printed core-shell filament. With the core liquid with a sufficiently high concentration of Pluronic F127 (30 w/w%; σy = 158.5 Pa), the interfacial instability between the shell liquid and core liquid was suppressed; the removal of the core liquid permitted the fabrication of perfusable channels. We identified the printing conditions to ensure lateral attachments of printed core-shell filaments. Interestingly, judicious selection of the rheological properties and flow rates of three phases allowed the formation of droplets consisting of core liquids distributed along the printed filaments. eCS3DP offers a simple route to fabricate 3D structures of a soft elastomeric matrix with embedded channels and should serve as a useful tool for DIW-based fabrication of flexible wearable devices and soft robotic components.

The current study aimed to establish simple and quick quality evaluation method of Chishao based on QAMS. Oxypaeoniflorin is used as a marker in the Chishao root. Based on it, the content of other components could be obtained by establishing the mathematical relationship. UPLC method was used to collect data, and the detection wavelengths were 230nm (benzoic acid, paeoniflorin), 263nm (hydroxy paeoniflorin) 274nm (gallic acid, paeoniflorin, catechin), respectively. The stationary phase was an Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18 and the mobile phase was acetonitrile -0.1% formic acid-water. The gradient elution method was adopted at the certain flow rate (0.3 mL/min). The column temperature set 40oC, and the injection volume was 1µL. Multiple reaction monitoring mode was selected for data collection. The linear ranges of benzoic acid, paeoniflorin, hydroxy-paeoniflorin, gallic acid, catechin and paeoniflorinhad good linearity (r ≥0.9995). The UPLC method was established to determine the content of paeoniflorin, benzoic acid, catechin, gallic acid, paeoniflorin, andhydroxy-paeoniflorin in Radix Paeoniae Rubra. In the current study, the method for the chemical components in Radix Paeoniae Rubra to provide the evaluation basis of medicinal effects.

BACKGROUND: "Double eyelid" blepharoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic operations among Asian populations. Some patients might present with concomitant mild to moderate blepharoptosis, even though they choose initially to undergo blepharoplasty for cosmetic reasons. OBJECTIVE: Using nonincisional double eyelid surgery without ptosis correction tends to produce unsatisfactory results. We introduce our modified suture method for the simultaneous correction of blepharoptosis during double eyelid blepharoplasty. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We carried out a retrospective review on 13 patients who underwent simultaneous nonincisional ptosis correction and double eyelid surgery, using a single-knot continuous technique, from January 2017 to December 2019. A superior tarsal (Müller's) muscle tagging suture was utilized to achieve an accurate tucking during surgery and create a double upper lid fold simultaneously. RESULTS: The mean patient age was 31.8 years (range=23-54), and 9 patients (69%) were female. The mean marginal reflex distance 1 increased from 2.46±0.36 mm preoperatively to 4.07±0.61 mm postoperatively with a statistically significant difference. Most patients showed favorable results with an average of 10.8 months of follow-up and minimal complications. CONCLUSIONS: This simultaneous double eyelid blepharoplasty technique using a single-knot, continuous, nonincisional technique is relatively easy and effective, with minimal downtime and few postoperative complications, and avoids scarring for patients with mild to moderate blepharoptosis.

No previous meta-analysis has evaluated the relationship between pulmonary artery enlargement (PAE) measured by computed tomography (CT) and prognosis for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Recently, several studies have suggested poor survival and reduced exercise capacity in COPD patients with PAE on CT scan, but there were conflicting results. We aimed to assess the prognostic value of PAE-CT in patients with COPD. Relevant studies were identified by searching major databases. Pooled outcomes were determined to assess the prognostic value of PAE-CT in COPD patients. Eighteen studies including 5694 participants were included. PAE indicated higher mortality in COPD patients (odds ratio [OR] = 3.06; 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 1.76-5.32; p < 0.0001), shorter 6-minute walk distance (mean difference [MD] = -67.53 m; 95% CI: -85.98 to -49.08; p < 0.00001), higher pulmonary artery systolic pressure (MD = 15.65 mmHg; 95% CI: 13.20-18.11; p < 0.00001), longer length of hospital stay (MD = 2.92 days; 95% CI: 0.71-5.12; p = 0.009) and more severe symptom such as dyspnea (COPD Assessment Test MD = 3.14; 95% CI: 2.48-3.81; p < 0.00001). We also conducted a subgroup analysis regarding the lung function and blood gas analysis for a stable period and acute exacerbation of COPD patients. In conclusion, PAE is significantly associated with mortality, lower exercise tolerance, and poor quality of life in patients with COPD. PAE may serve as a novel imaging biomarker for risk stratification in patients with COPD in the future.

INTRODUCTION: A force transducer or automatic scoring system is not sufficient to detect small or fine seizure activity. To improve previous assessments of epileptic behavior, a novel coil method was developed to detect an early behavioral marker for epileptic seizures. METHODS: The present study used the γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor antagonist pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) to induce seizure activity and epileptic behavior in mice. A coil method was used to detect motor seizures consisting of small amplitude 19-21 Hz muscle contractions. RESULTS: Seizure activity in the 19-21 Hz range detected by the coil method was positively correlated with generalized clonic seizures with a kangaroo posture after PTZ administration. GABA receptor agonist valproic acid and ethosuximide decreased PTZ-induced 19-21 Hz seizure activity. The pattern of the amplitude ratio (%) of 19-21 Hz seizure activity after administration of the GABAA/C receptor antagonist picrotoxin was similar to the group that was treated with PTZ but different from the group that was treated with the nonselective muscarinic receptor agonist pilocarpine. The coil method detected 19-21 Hz seizure activity after PTZ administration. However, the force transducer method did not detect 19-21 Hz seizure activity. CONCLUSIONS: The coil method was more sensitive than the force transducer method for detecting epileptic behaviors. The findings may indicate a novel behavioral marker that can be detected by the coil method to reveal epileptic seizures, thus improving our understanding of the brain mechanisms of action and specific brain waves that are associated with PTZ-induced 19-21 Hz seizure activity.

The association between pulse pressure and long-term mortality was investigated among acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients who received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The study population included 5055 ACS patients in the Department of Cardiology of Beijing Friendship Hospital who were enrolled from January 2013 to July 2019. The median duration of follow-up was 24 months. Multivariate Cox regression was used to analyze the relationships between PP on inpatient admission and mortalities. Non-linear associations were studied by restricted cubic splines. Considering the heart function, the analyses were performed in the whole cohort and the LVEF > = 0.5 cohort separately. Subgroup analyses were performed according to the different diagnosis (the myocardial infarction subgroup and the unstable angina pectoris subgroup). When PP was used as categorical variable, the high PP group (≥61 mm Hg) significantly increased the risk of death compared with the intermediate PP group (50-60 mm Hg) in the both cohorts. When PP was used as continuous variable, a U-shape relationship were found between PP and mortalities in the whole cohort (p (for nonlinearity) = .005 and .003, respectively), with reference PP level of 55 mm Hg. However, this U-shape relationship disappeared in the LVEF > 0.5 cohort (p (for nonlinearity) = .111 and .117, respectively). The similar results were obtained in MI subgroup. From this study, the U-shape relationships between PP level and all-cause and cardiac mortalities were found in ACS patients who underwent PCI. The U-shape relationships disappeared in the LVEF > 0.5 cohort. The reference PP level was 55 mm Hg.

BACKGROUND Diabetes is a metabolic disorder caused by defects in insulin production and activity. During disease progression, changes in lipid peroxidation cause structural modifications via production of free radicals. Fangchinoline is a well-known alkaloid present in Stephaniae tetrandrine S. Moore, which has demonstrated antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory activities. RESULTS The present study analyzed the anti-diabetic and antioxidant effects of fangchinoline in male rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes. Rats were divided into the following groups: normal control, diabetic, diabetic + fangchinoline 100 mg/kg, diabetic + fangchinoline 200 mg/kg and diabetic + glibencla mide 600 mg/kg. The treatment was administered orally for 45 consecutive days. Lipid peroxidation was substantially increased by >50% in the serum, as well as the liver, kidney, and heart tissues of diabetic rats. However, fangchinoline supplementation significantly reduced lipid peroxidation to near normal levels. Reactive oxygen species levels were substantially increased by >500% in the serum, as well as the liver, kidney, and heart tissues of diabetic rats. Fangchinoline supplementation reduced reactive oxygen species to near normal levels. Fangchinoline supplementation significantly improved superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and reduced glutathione levels in diabetic rats. Total hexoses, sialic acid, hexosamines, and fucose were increased in diabetic rats, whereas fangchinoline supplementation significantly reduced these total hexoses, sialic acid, hexosamines, and fucose to near normal levels CONCLUSIONS Supplementation with fangchinoline led to significant attenuation of the levels of lipid peroxidation, ROS, and glycoprotein components such as total hexoses, hexosamines, sialic acid, and fucose, while improving antioxidant marker levels

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the types and laboratory characteristics of non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL) with bone marrow invasion as the first manifestation. METHODS: 81 non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients with bone marrow invasion as the first manifestation treated in our hospital from January 2010 to July 2019 were selected. The clinical features, blood routine, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), EB virus results, bone marrow features, immunophenotyping, gene and genetic characteristics of all patients were analyzed retrospectivel. RESULTS: Among 81 patients, 73 cases(90%) were B-cell lymphoma, 5 cases(6%) were T-cell lymphoma and 3 cases(4%) were NK/T-cell lymphoma, while the mantle cell lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma were the highest, which accounted for 21%(17 cases) and 19.7%(16 cases), and lymphoma accounted for 8.6%(7 cases). There were 44 cases(54.3%) showed B symptoms, 65 cases (80.2%) showed abnormal blood routine. The MYD88 gene was detected in 5 of 17 cases. 25 cases of patients underwent chromosome examination, the result showed that 5 cases were t(8; 14) (q24; q32), 3 cases were complex karyotype and 17 cases were normal karyotype. 23 cases(23.4%) were EB virus positive, 42 cases(51.9%) were LDH increased. The proportion of bone marrow lymphoma cells was 1%-92%. Among them, 32 cases were diagnosed as lymphoma leukemia, and 6 cases of bone marrow lymphoma cells showed mass distribution similar to extramedullary tumor cells with bone marrow metastasis. CONCLUSION: B-cell lymphoma is the predominant NHL with bone marrow invasion as the first manifestation, while mantle cell lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma are the most common pathological types with blood routine abnormalities. Bone marrow lymphoma cells can also present clusters of bone marrow metastasis, different types of lymphoma cells can make directional diagnosis.

A growing body of evidence has shown that abused drugs could simultaneously induce the paradoxical effect-reward and aversion. Moreover, the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), amygdala, and hippocampus were involved in this paradoxical effect by abused drugs. However, no research examined whether neuroinflammatory changes in the mPFC [including cingulate cortex area 1 (Cg1); prelimbic cortex (PrL); infralimbic cortex (IL)], basolateral amygdala, and hippocampus [e.g., CA1, CA2, CA3, and dentate gyrus (DG)] after morphine-induced reward in conditioned place preference (CPP) and aversion in conditioned taste aversion (CTA). The results showed that after morphine administration, the consumption of a 0.1% saccharin solution decreased; the mean time spent in the morphine-paired side compartment of the CPP box increased, indicating that morphine simultaneously induced the paradoxical effects of reward and aversion. The PrL and IL of the mPFC, the BLA of the amygdala, the CA1, CA2, CA3, and DG of the hippocampus but not the Cg1 presented hyperactive IL-1ß expression in response to morphine's aversion and reward. The mPFC, amygdala, and hippocampus may appear neuroinflammation activity following morphine-induced paradoxical effect-reward in CPP and aversion in CTA. The present data may provide a better understanding of the relationship between neuroinflammation and morphine addiction.

Phagocytic cells recognize and phagocytose invading microbes for destruction. However, bacterial pathogens can remain hidden at low levels from conventional detection or replicate intracellularly after being phagocytosed by immune cells. Current phagocytosis-detection approaches involve flow cytometry or microscopic search for rare bacteria-internalized phagocytes among large populations of uninfected cells, which poses significant challenges in research and clinical settings. Hence it is imperative to develop a rapid, non-disruptive, and label-free phagocytosis detection approach. Using deformability assays and microscopic imaging, we have demonstrated for the first time that the presence of intracellular bacteria in phagocytic blood cells led to aberrant physical properties. Specifically, human monocytes with internalized bacteria of various species were stiffer and larger compared with uninfected monocytes. Taking advantage of these physical differences, a novel microfluidics-based biosensor platform was developed to passively sort, concentrate and quantify rare monocytes with internalized pathogens (MIP) from uninfected monocyte populations for phagocytosis detection. The clinical utility of the MIP platform was demonstrated by enriching and detecting bacteria-internalized monocytes from spiked human blood samples within 1.5 h. Patient-derived clinical isolates were used to validate the utility of the MIP platform further. This proof-of-concept presents a phagocytosis detection platform that could be used to rapidly diagnose microbial infections, especially in bloodstream infections (BSIs), thereby improving the clinical outcomes for point-of-care management.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Interstitial lung disease with lung cancer (ILD-LC) is rare and its management has not been fully described. This study aimed to investigate the management and prognosis of ILD-LC patients in China. METHODS: The present analysis is a retrospective real-world cohort study. Clinical data of ILD-LC patients were obtained from 3 hospitals in China. The overall survival (OS) of patients was analyzed. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed. RESULTS: One hundred eighty-four ILD-LC patients included were biased toward male (85.3%), smokers (75.5%), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) (58.2%) patients with comorbidities (67.9%) and ECOG-PS score of 1 (65.2%). Most patients were advanced peripheral non-small cell lung cancer. The initial anti-cancer regimen for ILD-LC is mainly chemotherapy, and patients with early-stage LC prefer surgery. In the anti-cancer cohort, the number of ILD-LC patients who underwent the 2nd and 3rd or more anti-cancer regimens were 78 (55.7%) and 32 (22.8%), respectively. In the non-anticancer cohort, the median OS was 3.5 months. In the early-stage cohort, the median OS was 14.2 months in the systematic therapy group; however, the median OS was not reached in the surgery group. In the advanced-stage cohort with systematic therapy, the median OS was 7.2 months. Interstitial pneumonia (IIP) and anti-angiogenesis were associated with OS in the univariate analysis, whereas anti-angiogenesis was an independent protective factor for advanced LC with ILD. CONCLUSION: Patients with ILD-LC have very poor prognosis. Appropriate anti-tumor treatment can prolong the survival time of patients who can tolerate it. Targeted therapy and immunotherapy are alternative treatments for LC patients with mild ILD. For ILD patients with advanced LC, antiangiogenic regimens significantly improve the prognosis of the disease.
