RESUMEN

ß-Ga2O3 is an ultrawide-band gap semiconductor with excellent potential for high-power and ultraviolet optoelectronic device applications. Low thermal conductivity is one of the major obstacles to enable the full performance of ß-Ga2O3-based devices. A promising solution for this problem is to integrate ß-Ga2O3 with a diamond heat sink. However, the thermal properties of the ß-Ga2O3/diamond heterostructures after the interfacial bonding have not been studied extensively, which are influenced by the crystal orientations and interfacial atoms for the ß-Ga2O3 and diamond interfaces. In this work, molecular dynamics simulations based on machine learning potential have been adopted to investigate the crystal-orientation-dependent and interfacial-atom-dependent thermal boundary resistance (TBR) of the ß-Ga2O3/diamond heterostructure after interfacial bonding. The differences in TBR at different interfaces are explained in detail through the explorations of thermal conductivity value, thermal conductivity spectra, vibration density of states, and interfacial structures. Based on the above explorations, a further understanding of the influence of different crystal orientations and interfacial atoms on the ß-Ga2O3/diamond heterostructure was achieved. Finally, insightful optimization strategies have been proposed in the study, which could pave the way for better thermal design and management of ß-Ga2O3/diamond heterostructures according to guidance in the selection of the crystal orientations and interfacial atoms of the ß-Ga2O3 and diamond interfaces.

RESUMEN

Diamond has become a promising candidate for high-power devices based on its ultrawide bandgap and excellent thermoelectric properties, where an appropriate gate dielectric has been a bottleneck hindering the development of diamond devices. Herein, we have systematically investigated the structural arrangement and electronic properties of diamond/high-κ oxide (HfO2, ZrO2) heterojunctions by first-principles calculations with a SiO2 interlayer. Charge analysis reveals that the C-Si bonding interface attracts a large amount of charge concentrated at the diamond interface, indicating the potential for the formation of a 2D hole gas (2DHG). The diamond/HfO2 and diamond/ZrO2 heterostructures exhibit similar "Type II" band alignments with VBOs of 2.47 and 2.21 eV, respectively, which is consistent with experimental predictions. The introduction of a SiO2 dielectric layer into the diamond/SiO2/high-κ stacks exhibits the typical "Type I″ straddling band offsets (BOs). In addition, the wide bandgap SiO2 interlayer keeps the valence band maximum (VBM) and conduction band minimum (CBM) in the stacks away from those of diamond, effectively confining the electrons and holes in MOS devices. This work exhibits the potential of SiO2/high-κ oxide gate dielectrics for diamond devices and provides theoretical insights into the rational design of high-quality gate dielectrics for diamond-based MOS device applications.

RESUMEN

AlN/diamond heterostructures hold tremendous promise for the development of next-generation high-power electronic devices due to their ultrawide band gaps and other exceptional properties. However, the poor adhesion at the AlN/diamond interface is a significant challenge that will lead to film delamination and device performance degradation. In this study, the uniaxial tensile failure of the AlN/diamond heterogeneous interfaces was investigated by molecular dynamics simulations based on a neuroevolutionary machine learning potential (NEP) model. The interatomic interactions can be successfully described by trained NEP, the reliability of which has been demonstrated by the prediction of the cleavage planes of AlN and diamond. It can be revealed that the annealing treatment can reduce the total potential energy by enhancing the binding of the C and N atoms at interfaces. The strain engineering of AlN also has an important impact on the mechanical properties of the interface. Furthermore, the influence of the surface roughness and interfacial nanostructures on the AlN/diamond heterostructures has been considered. It can be indicated that the combination of surface roughness reduction, AlN strain engineering, and annealing treatment can effectively result in superior and more stable interfacial mechanical properties, which can provide a promising solution to the optimization of mechanical properties, of ultrawide band gap semiconductor heterostructures.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare screw versus Kirschner wire fixation in the treatment of lateral humeral condyle fractures in children. METHODS: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Internet(CNKI), Wanfang Datebase from in ception to February 2022. Studies comparing screws and Kirschner wire fixation in the treatment of lateral humeral condyle fractures in children were included. Outcome measures included and excluded by a set of inclusion and exclusion criteria and evaluated for their quality, their excellent and good rate of fracture healing, malunion, delayed union or nonunion, infection, limitation of elbow flexion or extension(>10°) were extracted and analyzed using software Rev Man 5.3. RESULTS: A total of 9 retrospective studies involving 647 patients were included, with 255 patients in the screw fixation group(including screw combined with Kirschner wire) and 392 patients in the Kirschner wire fixation group. Meta analysis showed the following:infection rate in the screw group was significantly lower than that in the Kirschner wire group[OR=0.22, 95%CI(0.09, 0.56), P=0.001]. There were no significant differences between the 2 groups in excellent and good rate of fracture healing, malunion rate(P>0.05). Subgroup analysis showed that infection rate in the screw-only group was significantly lower than that in the Kirschner wire group[OR=0.18, 95%CI(0.05, 0.65), P=0.009]. CONCLUSION: For lateral humeral condyle fractures, Screw fixation alone had a lower infection rate than kirschner wire fixation and screw combined with Kirschner wire fixation. There were no significant differences in the excellent and good rate of fracture healing, malunion. In terms of postoperative efficacy and safety of internal fixation, orthopaedic surgeons are more likely to recommend screws for fixation of lateral humeral condyle fractures in children.

RESUMEN

Due to the widespread application of flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs), attention is increasing being paid to photolithography simulation with the continuous development of ultraviolet (UV) photolithography manufacturing. This study investigates the exposure process of an FPCB with an 18 µm line pitch. Using the finite difference time domain method, the light intensity distribution was calculated to predict the profiles of the developed photoresist. Moreover, the parameters of incident light intensity, air gap, and types of media that significantly influence the profile quality were studied. Using the process parameters obtained by photolithography simulation, FPCB samples with an 18 µm line pitch were successfully prepared. The results show that a higher incident light intensity and a smaller air gap result in a larger photoresisst profile. Better profile quality was obtained when water was used as the medium. The reliability of the simulation model was validated by comparing the profiles of the developed photoresist via four experimental samples.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare the long-term follow-up effect and complications of ceramic on ceramic (CoC) interface and ceramic on polyethyleneon ceramic (CoP) interface in primary total hip arthroplasty, and provide clinical evidence. METHODS: Search PubMed, EMBase, the CoChrane Library databases, Web of science, Wanfang database, and CNKI from January 2000 to September 2021, screening and inclusion of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the long-term efficacy and complications of CoC interface and CoP interface in total hip arthroplasty. Literature screening, quality evaluation and data extraction were carried out according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, using Review Manager 5.3 statistical software. The software was used to perform statistical analysis on joint function, revision, prosthesis fracture, abnormal joint noise, and prosthesis wear rate after CoC or CoP. RESULTS: Seven RCTs studies were included, including 390 cases of hips with CoC artificial joints and 384 cases of hips with CoP artificial joints. The long-term joint function improvement of CoC and CoP artificial joints was similar and there was no significant differences, with an average difference was MD=0.63, 95%CI=(-1.81, 3.07), P=0.61. About the postoperative complications, CoC artificial joints have higher incidence rate of abnormal joint noise, with odds ratio (OR)=11.05, 95%CI=(2.04, 59.84), P=0.005. CoP artificial joints wear faster, with an average MD=-87.11, 95%CI=(-114.40, -59.82), P<0.000 1. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the replacement-related complications such as joint dislocation, prosthesis loosening, osteolysis, and the rate of prosthesis revision caused by various reasons. CONCLUSION: The clinical function results and complications of CoC artificial joints are comparable to those of CoP artificial joints. Although CoP artificial joint prosthesis has a faster wear rate, it does not affect joint function and increase complications, and there is no abnormal joint noise. CoC is expensive and the long-term efficacy is equivalent to CoP. Clinicians should consider cost performance when choosing CoC.

RESUMEN

The thickness uniformity of the molecular beam epitaxial film is one of the most important factors affecting the quality of the film, and it is mainly influenced by the angular distribution of the molecular source, which is mainly determined by the inner wall shape of the crucible. In this paper, an optimization method based on particle swarm optimization, Monte Carlo simulations, and an artificial neural network is proposed, aiming at optimizing the epitaxial film uniformity in the molecular beam epitaxy process. The optimum angular distribution of an effusion source is obtained by using the method of particle swarm optimization for a given geometric configuration. The Monte Carlo method is used to simulate the particle evaporation process to obtain the relationship between the shape parameters of the crucible inner wall and the particle angular distribution. The optimum crucible shape parameters are subsequently obtained under a particular apparatus geometric configuration by using the artificial neural network according to the above relationship and the desired optimum angular distribution. Finally, the optimized results are compared by experiments.

RESUMEN

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is the most recognized inherited retinal disorder involving progressive photoreceptors degeneration which eventually causes blindness. However, the pathogenesis of RP is still unclear, making it difficult to establish satisfying treatments. Evidence have been found to support the theory that vascular dysfunction is associated with the progression of RP. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a newly developed technology that enables visualization as well as quantitative assessment of retinal and choroidal vasculature non-invasively. Advances in OCTA have opened a window for in-depth understanding of RP pathogenesis. Here, we propose a hypothesis of RP pathogenesis based on the current OCTA findings in RP, which includes four stages and two important key factors, vascular dysfunction and microglia activation. Further, we discuss the future animal experiments needed and how advanced OCTA technology can help to further verity the hypothesis. The final goal is to explore potential treatment options with enhanced understanding of RP pathogenesis.

RESUMEN

In spite of a high market share of plastic IC packaging, there are still reliability issues, especially for the effects of moisture. The mechanism between moisture and epoxy polymer is still obscure. A multi-step cross-linking approach was used to mimic the cross-linking process between the DGEBA resin and JEFFAMINE®-D230 agent. Based on the molecular dynamics method, the thermo-mechanical properties and microstructure of epoxy polymer were analyzed. In this paper, the degree of cross-linking ranged from 0% to 85.4% and the moisture concentration ranged from 0 wt.% to 12 wt.%. The hydrogen bonds were investigated in the moisture invaded epoxy polymer. Although most of the hydrogen bonds were related to water molecules, the hydrogen bonds between the inside of epoxy polymer were reduced only a little as the concentration of moisture increased. The diffusion coefficient of the water molecules was found to increase with the increase of moisture concentration. When the moisture concentration was larger than 12 wt.% or smaller than 1.6 wt.%, the diffusion coefficient was less affected by the epoxy polymer. In addition, the free volume and the thermal conductivity of the epoxy polymer were considered. It was found that the moisture could increase the thermal conductivity from 0.24 to 0.31 W/m/K, identifying a coupling relationship between moisture and thermal properties. Finally, the mechanical properties of epoxy polymer were analyzed by uniaxial tensile simulation. The COMPASS and DREIDING force fields were used during the uniaxial tensile simulation. A better result was achieved from the DREIDING force field compared with the experiment. The degree of cross-linking was positively correlated with mechanical properties. For the system with the largest degree of cross-linking of 85.4%, the Young's modulus was 2.134 ± 0.522 GPa and the yield strength was 0.081 ± 0.01 GPa. There were both plasticizing and anti-plasticizing effects when the water molecules entered the epoxy polymer. Both the Young's moduli and yield strength varied in a large range from 1.38 to 2.344 GPa and from 0.062 to 0.128 GPa, respectively.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) includes a series of typical lesions affected by retinal microvascular damage caused by diabetes mellitus (DM), which not only seriously damages the vision, affecting the life's quality of patients, but also brings a considerable burden to the family and society. Astragalus Membranaceus (AM) is a commonly used medicine in clinical therapy of eye disorders in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In recent years, it is also used for treating DR, but the specific mechanism is unclear. Therefore, this study explores the potential mechanism of AM in DR treatment by using network pharmacology. METHODS: Based on the oral bioavailability (OB) and drug likeness (DL) of two ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion) parameters, Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database (TCMSP), Swiss Target Prediction platform, GeneCards, and OMIM database were used to predict and screen the active compounds of AM, the core targets of AM in DR treatment. The Metascape data platform was used to perform Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis on the core targets. RESULTS: 24 active compounds were obtained, such as quercetin, kaempferol, and astragaloside IV. There were 169 effective targets of AM in DR treatment, and the targets were further screened and finally, 38 core targets were obtained, such as VEGFA, AKT1, and IL-6. EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance, AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and other metabolic pathways participated in oxidative stress, cell apoptosis, angiogenesis signal transduction, inflammation, and other biological processes. CONCLUSION: AM treats DR through multiple compounds, multiple targets, and multiple pathways. AM may play a role in the treatment of DR by targeting VEGFA, AKT1, and IL-6 and participating in oxidative stress, angiogenesis, and inflammation.

RESUMEN

Optical time-stretch (OTS) imaging is effective for observing ultra-fast dynamic events in real time by virtue of its capability of acquiring images with high spatial resolution at high speed. In different implementations of OTS imaging, different configurations of its signal detection, i.e. fiber-coupled and free-space detection schemes, are employed. In this research, we quantitatively analyze and compare the two detection configurations of OTS imaging in terms of sensitivity and image quality with the USAF-1951 resolution chart and diamond films, respectively, providing a valuable guidance for the system design of OTS imaging in diverse fields.

RESUMEN

Optical time-stretch imaging has shown potential in diverse fields for its capability of acquiring images at high speed and high resolution. However, its wide application is hindered by the stringent requirement on the instrumentation hardware caused by the high-speed serial data stream. Here we demonstrate temporally interleaved optical time-stretch imaging that lowers the requirement without sacrificing the frame rate or spatial resolution by interleaving the high-speed data stream into multiple channels in the time domain. Its performance is validated with both a United States Air Force (USAF)-1951 resolution chart and a single-crystal diamond film. We achieve a 101 Mfps 1D scanning rate and 3 µm spatial resolution with only a 2.5 GS/s sampling rate by using a two-channel-interleaved system.

RESUMEN

The photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) reduction of CO2 into high-value chemicals is beneficial in alleviating global warming and advancing a low-carbon economy. In this work, Pt-modified reduced graphene oxide (Pt-RGO) and Pt-modified TiO2 nanotubes (Pt-TNT) were combined as cathode and photoanode catalysts, respectively, to form a PEC reactor for converting CO2 into valuable chemicals. XRD, XPS, TEM, AFM, and SEM were employed to characterize the microstructures of the Pt-RGO and Pt-TNT catalysts. Reduction products, such as C2H5OH and CH3COOH, were obtained from CO2 under band gap illumination and biased voltage. A combined liquid product generation rate (CH3OH, C2H5OH, HCOOH, and CH3COOH) of approximately 600 nmol/(h·cm(2)) was observed. Carbon atom conversion rate reached 1,130 nmol/(h·cm(2)), which were much higher than those achieved using Pt-modified carbon nanotubes and platinum carbon as cathode catalysts.
