RESUMEN

To understand the psychological effects on behavior of girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty (ICPP) and to explore the role of gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog (GnRHa) in the reversal or blocking of the negative psychological effects on behaviors of girls with ICPP. A total of 100 girls with ICPP diagnosed at the Department of Endocrinology of Jiangxi Children's Hospital were divided into the treatment group and observation group with 50 cases in each group. The control group consisted of 50 healthy girls examined at our hospital during the same period. The Achenbach Child Behavior Check List ([CBCL] for parents) was used to evaluate the psychological effects on behavior of the girls diagnosed with ICPP and the girls in the control group, and the scores of related behavioral factors were calculated. At the same time, the psychological effects on behaviors of the girls with ICPP treated with GnRHa were followed up. (1) There were 100 girls with ICPP and 30 with behavioral problems. There were 50 normal healthy girls (control group) with 3 cases of behavior problems. Of the 50 girls with ICPP, after treatment, 8 had behavioral issues. The rate of abnormal psychological effects on behavior in the group of girls with ICPP before treatment was significantly higher than in the control group (P < .01), and after treatment, the rate was lower than before treatment (P < .05). (2) The scores of depression, social withdrawal, poor communication, and school discipline violation in the ICPP group were higher than those in the control group, with a statistical significance (P < .01). (3) After 24 months of GnRHa treatment for girls in the ICPP group, the scores of 4 factors, including depression, social withdrawal, poor communication, and violation of discipline in the Achenbach CBCL, were significantly different before and after treatment (P < .05). (1) Girls with ICPP have low self-esteem, low self-confidence, high incidences of psychological effects on behavior problems, manifested in depression, withdrawal, poor communication, discipline violations, and other aspects; (2) GnRHa treatment can reverse the low self-esteem and low self-confidence of girls with ICPP to varying degrees.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Along with the rapid growth of the global aging society, the mobile and health digital market has expanded greatly. Countless mobile medical apps (mmApps) have sprung up in the internet market, aiming to help patients with chronic diseases achieve medication safety. OBJECTIVE: Based on the medication safety action plans proposed by the World Health Organization, we aimed to explore the effectiveness of mmApps in ensuring the medication safety of patients with chronic diseases, including whether mmApps can improve the willingness to report adverse drug events (ADEs), improve patients' medication adherence, and reduce medication errors. We hoped to verify our hypothesis through a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS: The meta-analysis was performed in strict accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and included literature searched from 7 databases-PubMed, Web Of Science, Embase, CINAHL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and SinoMed. The publication time was limited to the time of database establishment to April 30, 2022. Studies were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data extracted included authors, years of publication, countries or regions, participants' characteristics, intervention groups, and control groups, among others. Our quality assessment followed the guidelines of the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions, Version 6.3. RevMan 5.2 software (Cochrane Collaboration) was used to analyze the statistical data, and a sensitivity analysis was performed to assess data stability. The degree of stability was calculated by using a different statistical method and excluding large-sample studies from the analysis. RESULTS: We included 8 studies from 5 countries (China, the United States, France, Canada, and Spain) that were published from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2021. The total number of participants was 1355, and we analyzed the characteristics of included studies, each app's features, the risk of bias, and quality. The results showed that mmApps could increase ADE reporting willingness (relative risk [RR] 2.59, 95% CI 1.26-5.30; P=.009) and significantly improve medication adherence (RR 1.17, 95% CI 1.04-1.31; P=.007), but they had little effect on reducing medication errors (RR 1.54, 95% CI 0.33-7.29; P=.58). CONCLUSIONS: We analyzed the following three merits of mmApps, with regard to facilitating the willingness to report ADEs: mmApps facilitate more communication between patients and physicians, patients attach more importance to ADE reporting, and the processing of results is transparent. The use of mmApps improved medication adherence among patients with chronic diseases by conveying medical solutions, providing educational support, tracking medications, and allowing for remote consultations. Finally, we found 3 potential reasons for why our medication error results differed from those of other studies. RESUMEN

Turner syndrome (TS) is a congenital chromosomal abnormality that affects approximately 1 in 2,500 people. Both in China and abroad, few studies exist on the incidence of tumors in patients with TS. Most reported cases are complicated with gonadal germ cell tumors, and extragonadal tumors are rare, with the latter not yet being reported in China. Through chromosome karyotype analysis and surgical exploration, a pediatric patent was diagnosed with TS complicated with gonadoblastoma and adrenal neuroblastoma. The patient was short in stature and had a facial deformity. After admission, adrenal computed tomography was conducted, and a right adrenal mass was identified as a neurogenic tumor. After surgical resection and gonadal exploration, the pathological results revealed left gonadoblastoma, right gonadal stromal cell hyperplasia, and ganglion neuroblastoma (mixed type) in the right adrenal gland. Pediatric patients with TS have an increased likelihood of developing neuroblastoma and adrenal-related tumors, and changes in adrenal hormone levels and clinical manifestations are often not obvious when combined with adrenal-related tumors. To avoid missed diagnosis and delayed treatment, screening for adrenal tumors is therefore recommended for patients with TS before the initiation of growth hormone treatment.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The quality of life of women is seriously affected by perimenopausal symptoms and related diseases. Clinical nurses often suffer from job burnout due to high pressure and intensity of work and life, which is easy to induce and aggravate perimenopausal syndrome. Nursing occupational environment varies greatly in different economic regions, but relevant studies are limited to northern cities, and are often confined to the second and third grade hospitals or a hospital in a certain region, lacking multi-center studies on hospitals of different grades. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the occurrence of perimenopausal syndrome in clinical nurses in Chongqing and its influencing factors, so as to provide reference for managers to take targeted intervention measures. METHODS: The investigation was conducted using the method of stratified random cluster sampling. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 933 clinical nurses aged from 40 to 55 in primary, secondary and tertiary hospitals. Kupperman's total symptom score ranged from 0 to 63, while a score of ≥7 can determine the existence of perimenopausal syndrome. RESULTS: Among the 933 clinical nurses surveyed, 662 (70.95%) had perimenopausal syndrome, the results of the multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that The age ranges from 51 to 55 (OR =2.035, 95% CI: 1.070-3.872), the presence of chronic diseases (OR =1.659, 95% CI: 1.095-2.512), menopause (OR =1.989, 95% CI: 1.198-3.303), moderate family function impairment (OR =1.940, 95% CI: 1.356-2.776), severe family dysfunction weekly (OR =2.309, 95% CI: 1.178-4.524), never participation in sports (OR =3.328, 95% CI: 1.657-6.684) and exercising 1-5 times per week (OR =2.689, 95% CI: 1.516-4.768) were risk factors for perimenopausal syndrome in clinical nurses, basic security (OR =0.939, 95% CI: 0.887-0.994), and sufficient manpower (OR =0.915, 95% CI: 0.855-0.979) were protective factors for perimenopausal syndrome in clinical nurses. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of perimenopausal syndrome in clinical nurses at all levels of hospitals situated in Chongqing is relatively high. It is suggested that nursing managers should attach great importance to the physical and mental condition of this population and timely take targeted intervention measures to prevent or alleviate the occurrence and development of perimenopausal syndrome in clinical nurses.

RESUMEN

Insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) deficiency is a rare form of short stature, and is difficult to clinically diagnose. Targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) allows for the rapid and inexpensive assessment of short stature. We identified mutations in the pedigree of a Chinese boy with severe short stature using targeted NGS; we then assessed the clinical characteristicsand evaluated the efficacy of growth hormone therapy. NGS analysis revealed a novel heterozygous missense mutation in exon3 (c.926C>T, p.S309L) of the type-I IGF-1R gene in the proband, which was inherited from the mother. The proband, mother and grandfather suffered from severe growth failure. After recombinant human growth hormone therapy, the patient's growth rate increased. The novel missensemutation in IGF-1R (c.926C > T, p.S309L) is associated with severe short stature in Chinese individuals. Targeted NGS may enable efficient diagnosis and genetic consultation of children with short stature.

RESUMEN

A non-ionic water-soluble galactomannan, isolated from the seed endosperm of Crotalaria mucronata Desv., may be an ideal thickener to increase food viscosity. The present study hypothesized that the viscous property of Crotalaria galactomannan may be associated with its spatial structure. Therefore, the structure of Crotalaria galactomannan was elucidated using an atomic force microscope. The results of the present study demonstrated that the polysaccharide consisted of a Dmannose backbone with Dgalactose branches, and the Dmannose/Dgalactose ratio was 2.375:1. In the threedimensional structure of Crotalaria galactomannan, the helix was a common secondary structure, containing numerous ring structures of different sizes. In addition, multiple helixes may link together via hydrogen bonding and van der Waals forces, forming aggregations with small rings or spiral windings. The results of the present study indicated that the multiplebranching construction of Crotalaria galactomannan may underlie its viscosityenhancing properties in the water phase.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the presence of arterial stiffness in rural-dwelling Chinese adults with primary hypertension. METHODS: Primary hypertension patients (n = 19,375) receiving an average of 4.5 years of antihypertension therapy were selected from the Chinese Stroke Primary Prevention Trial (mean age: 64.7 ± 7.4 years, male: 37.8%). Anthropometric, demographic, hemodynamic, and biochemical data were obtained. Arterial stiffness was assessed using brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV). RESULTS: BMI was inversely associated with baPWV after adjusting for gender, age, smoking, alcohol consumption, center, pulse, SBP, DBP, FBG, TC, TG, HDL-C, BUN, Scr, UA, HCY, antidiabetes treatment, lipid-lowing treatment, and antihypertensive treatment (ß (SE): -10.72 (0.69), P < 0.0001). Quintile1 (Q1) was used as a reference; Q2, Q3, Q4, and Q5 groups were all inversely associated with baPWV. The ß increased with increasing BMI, ß (SE) was -20.29 (6.74), -30.66 (7.01), -51.82 (7.27), and -103.1 (7.62), respectively, for Q2 - Q5, P < 0.05. BMI remained inversely correlated with baPWV across differences in gender, center, blood pressure, lipid levels, and the presence or absence of diabetes subgroups. CONCLUSION: Increased BMI is a positive factor against the development of arterial stiffness in Chinese rural-dwelling adults with primary hypertension undergoing antihypertension treatments, after adjusting for confounding factors.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To study the association between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-IR) gene and idiopathic short stature (ISS). METHODS: A total of 804 children with ISS and 575 normal controls were recruited from 2008 to 2011. IGF-IR gene SNP was genotyped using the Snapshot Multiplex System. RESULTS: The distribution frequency of genotype rs1976667 showed no significant difference between the ISS and the control groups, while that of the allele A of rs1976667 was significantly higher in the ISS group than in the control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: The allele A at rs1976667 SNP of IGF-IR gene is a risk factor for ISS.

RESUMEN

A survey was conducted to determine the reproducibility of retention times in both the first (D1) and second dimension (D2) axes of the two-dimensional separation space, in the comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic analysis of an essential oil sample using cryogenic modulation. The retention times in the two dimensions for a number of individual components comprising hydrocarbon, alcohol, ester and ketone chemical classes in a Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil were recorded from replicate analyses using four separate column sets and two identical gas chromatographs. Run-to-run, day-to-day, instrument-to-instrument, and column set-to-column set reproducibility were demonstrated from the experimental design. A total of 60 GC x GC analyses were conducted. The longitudinally modulated cryogenic system produced reproducible modulation start times and consistent modulation phase profiles for individual components in all experiments, and retention time variations in both dimensions were negligible. The average run-to-run reproducibility of 43 components for six replicate injections was found to be 0.12% RSD in the first dimension, and 0.74% RSD in the second dimension. Day-to-day reproducibility showed statistically "significant" difference (F-test), but this was partly ascribable to the excellent within-day reproducibility that led to apparent day-to-day differences. Confidence in absolute retention times (hence component positions) in the two-dimensional separation space is critical to component identification.
