RESUMEN

Rural sewage collection networks play extremely important roles in rural sewage treatment, and the lack of a suitable collection model makes this task difficult. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop a new method to collect and deal with rural sewage. This paper establishes a rural sewage optimal collection model (RSOCM) with critical distance (d) and sewage quota per unit area (qs) as the constraint factors. The implementation of critical distance for rural sewage collection pipeline networks was demonstrated for 38 rural areas in the Huicheng District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province of China. The average critical distances of 22 m, 38 m, 29 m, 29 m, 41 m, and 55 m were demonstrated for Sandong Town, Ma'an Town, Luzhou Town, Ruhu Town, Hengli Town, and Shuikou Subdistrict, respectively. The qs is used to create the best possible pipe network layout, determine the appropriate treatment method, and reduce construction costs. This model can be widely applied to sewage collection in rural areas of China, where the overall sewage collection system can implement different regional strategies to maximize rural pollution control and protect the environment.

RESUMEN

To investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of patients with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (IHH), the clinical data of 23 patients with IHH were retrospectively analyzed. Gene analyses were accomplished with whole-exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing. Functional prediction of mutation sites was conducted using two bioinformatics platforms, SIFT and Polyphen. Among the 23 patients with IHH, 9 patients carried prokinin 2 (PROKR2) gene mutations including 4 missense mutations (p.W178S, p.Y113H, p.A103V, p.R164Q), and 1 frameshift mutation (p.D42delinsDED), the remaining 14 cases were found negative in gene sequencing. Functional prediction showed that the above mutations may affect protein function suggestive of a pathogenic role of PROKR2 mutation in the patients. There were no significant differences in the levels of follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, testosterone, and estradiol between the IHH patients with PROKR2 gene mutation and those without. PROKR2 gene mutation might associated with IHH, and the mutations reported in the present study could enrich the pathogenic spectrum of genes.

RESUMEN

Frequent urban flooding disasters can cause severe economic and property losses. Accordingly, the construction of sponge city has become critical to alleviating urban flooding. However, the functional and structural integration of Green Infrastructure (GI) and Gray Drainage Facility (GDF) is still a matter of concern. This study proposed a novel implementation framework for GI and GDF synchronization optimization (G-GSOIF) based on the SWMM and SUSTAIN models, and used data from Beilin District in Xi'an, China to verify the effects. The results show that the spatiotemporal integrated optimization design of GI and GDF proves to be effective in stormwater management. The total investment was reduced by 16.7% and economic benefit was increased by 15.4% based on disaster risk control, and the utilization rate of rainwater resources exceeded 40%. The Staged optimization model (SSOM) based on the SUSTAIN model established in the G-GSOIF was demonstrated to effectively cope with the impact of future climate change by adjusting and optimizing the design scheme dynamically in different simulation scenarios. Integrated LID (I-LID) measures are conducive for simulation of large catchment areas, and have the same implementation effect as distributed LID measures. The results of this study could support decision-making for urban stormwater management and sponge city construction.

RESUMEN

The 17α-hydroxylase/17, 20-lyase deficiency (17-OHD) is a rare disease. The clinical characteristics and gene mutation of 2 late-diagnosed 17-OHD patients with testicular tumor admitted to our hospital from March 2018 to February 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The two 17-OHD patients were female (46, XY). Laparoscopic abdominal exploration found undeveloped testicles in grey-yellow or grey-red in the groin and iliac fossa. The testicles were removed and showed malignancy in pathology study. Sequencing of the CYP17A1 gene identified c.1247G>A/c.1427T>C and c.985_987delTACinsAA/c.1306G>A complex heterozygous mutations. Taking together, the possibility of 17-OHD should be considered in patients with hypertension, hypokalemia, adrenal adenomatoid hyperplasia together with 46, XY gonadal dysplasia, so as to make early diagnosis and treatment, and avoid dysplastic testicular turning to malignancy.

RESUMEN

In China, most rural areas lack specific sewage discharge standards. Even though China governments proposed a series of local standards, the most of the existing China's rural sewage discharge standards are still similar to urban discharge standards. This research analyses comprehensively the data of rural sewage discharge standards in the 31 provinces and cities in China in terms of grade and indicator, and forms a structural framework for the formulation and revised standards in rural areas of China. In the formulation, we use 2 components, end-use and environmental capacity, to reflect local characteristics of the grades and indicators, and also propose the methods of combining discharge standards with relevant water quality standards to save energy. And we also use the mathematical model to illustrate environmental capacity in different regions. The paper shows the great potential in guiding the design of discharge standards formulation and revision for rural wastewater treatment in China and other developing countries as well.

RESUMEN

Objective:To detect the expression of 3-phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1(PDK1) and nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) in human middle ear cholesteatoma tissue and to analyze their correlation.Method:Immunohistochemical method was taken to detect the expression and location of PDK1 and NF-κB in 60 cases of cholesteatoma tissue and 30 cases of normal ear skin specimens.SPSS 19.0 software was used to analyze the data. Result:Immunohistochemistry revealed PDK1 was positive in cytoplasm and the positive expression rate in cholesteatoma was significantly higher than normal skin (P <0.05); NF-κB expressed in the nucleus of cholesteatoma and the positive expression rate in cholesteatoma significantly higher than normal skin(P <0.05);In cholesteatoma specimens, there was a significant positive correlation between protein PDK1 and NF-κB(P <0.05). Conclusion:Abnormal expression of PDK1 and NF-κB may be related to the proliferation of cholesteatoma epithelium and they reinforce each other.

RESUMEN

The chloroplast-localized SIB1 protein was previously identified by its interaction with SIGMA FACTOR 1 (SIG1), a component of the RNA polymerase machinery responsible for transcription of plastid genes. The physiological function of SIB1 is little known. We found that expression of SIB1 is induced by infection with Pseudomonas syringae, suggesting its possible involvement in the defence response. The sib1 loss-of-function mutation compromises induction of some defence-related genes triggered by pathogen infection and the treatments with salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonic acid (JA), two key signalling molecules in the defence response. Conversely, constitutive over-expression of SIB1 causes the plants to hyper-activate defence-related genes following pathogen infection or the SA and JA treatments, leading to enhanced resistance to infection by P. syringae. SIB1 is a member of the large plant-specific VQ motif-containing protein family, and might act as a link to connect defence signalling with chloroplast function.
