BACKGROUND: Chronic shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal problem associated with unreleased pain and functional dysfunction that can evolve into central sensitization. Some forms of manual therapy may exacerbate pain and central sensitization. This study investigated the impact of joint position sense therapy (JPST), a moderate joint proprioception training technique, on central sensitization, shoulder functional dysfunction, and pain in patients with chronic shoulder pain compared with more intense exercises or aggressive manual therapies. METHODS: We assessed the pressure pain threshold (PPT) in 30 patients with and 30 patients without chronic shoulder pain. The assessment focused on 4 muscle sites: deltoid, upper trapezius, brachioradialis, and tibialis anterior. Thirty patients with chronic shoulder pain were randomly divided into the JPST and control groups. The JPST group underwent additional shoulder joint position-sense training. The efficiency outcomes were the disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand questionnaire, visual analog scale (VAS), and PPT, evaluated at baseline and after the intervention. RESULTS: Significant differences were observed in the PPT values at the brachioradialis (P < .05), deltoid (P < .01), and trapezius (P < .001) among the non-chronic and chronic groups, but not in the tibialis anterior muscle (P > .05). Although both control and JPST interventions effectively improved the disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand questionnaire score, pain intensity, and PPT values in the upper limb, the outcomes in the JPST group were significantly different from those in the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Generalized hyperalgesia changes limited to the upper limbs were observed in patients with chronic shoulder pain. JPST has beneficial effects on pain control and functional dysfunction in patients with chronic shoulder pain.

We aimed to apply a potent deep learning network, NAFNet, to predict adverse pathology events and biochemical recurrence-free survival (bRFS) based on pre-treatment MRI imaging. 514 prostate cancer patients from six tertiary hospitals throughout China from 2017 and 2021 were included. A total of 367 patients from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center with whole-mount histopathology of radical prostatectomy specimens were assigned to the internal set, and cancer lesions were delineated with whole-mount pathology as the reference. The external test set included 147 patients with BCR data from five other institutes. The prediction model (NAFNet-classifier) and integrated nomogram (DL-nomogram) were constructed based on NAFNet. We then compared DL-nomogram with radiology score (PI-RADS), and clinical score (Cancer of the Prostate Risk Assessment score (CAPRA)). After training and validation in the internal set, ROC curves in the external test set showed that NAFNet-classifier alone outperformed ResNet50 in predicting adverse pathology. The DL-nomogram, including the NAFNet-classifier, clinical T stage and biopsy results, showed the highest AUC (0.915, 95% CI: 0.871-0.959) and accuracy (0.850) compared with the PI-RADS and CAPRA scores. Additionally, the DL-nomogram outperformed the CAPRA score with a higher C-index (0.732, P < 0.001) in predicting bRFS. Based on this newly-developed deep learning network, NAFNet, our DL-nomogram could accurately predict adverse pathology and poor prognosis, providing a potential AI tools in medical imaging risk stratification.

OBJECTIVES: To observe the curative effect of fire needling pricking pericranial tender points combined with filiform needling on tension-type headache (TTH) and its effect on pericranial muscle tenderness, and explore the correlation between changes of headache symptoms and pericranial muscle tenderness in TTH, to analyze the influence of pericranial muscle tenderness on TTH. METHODS: A total of 41 TTH patients in the treatment group and 38 TTH patients in the control group completed the study. The patients in the treatment group were treated with fire needling at pericranial tender points combined with filiform needling at Baihui (GV20), Sishencong (EX-HN1), Shenting (GV24), Touwei (ST8) and Fengchi (GB20). The patients in the control group were only treated with the same filiform needling as the treatment group. Patients in the two groups were treated twice a week for 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, the days of headache onset, the number and distribution of pericranial muscle tender points were recorded, the degree of headache was evaluated by visual analogue scale and the threshold of pericranial muscle tender points were measured. The correlations between the changes of the days and degree of headache onset and the changes of the number and threshold of pericranial muscle tender points were analyzed. The effective rates in the two groups were calculated. RESULTS: Compared with those before treatment, the days of headache onset and the degree of headache were decreased (P<0.05) in the two groups;the number of pericranial muscle tender points was decreased (P<0.05) and the tenderness threshold was increased (P<0.05) in the treatment group. After treatment, compared with the control group, the days of headache onset, the degree of headache, and the number of pericranial muscle tender points were decreased (P<0.05), and the tenderness threshold was increased (P<0.05) in the treatment group. The decrease of the days and degree of headache was positively correlated with the decrease of number and the increase of tenderness threshold of pericranial muscle tender points (P<0.05). The effective rate in the treatment group was 87.80% (36/41), which was higher than 57.89% (22/38) in the control group (P<0.05). The most common anatomic location of tender points in baseline was superior trapezius muscle, followed by sternocleidomastoid muscle, superior nuchal line, temporal muscle, masseter muscle, etc. CONCLUSIONS: The fire needling at the pericranial muscle tender points combined with filiform needling on TTH patients can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and reduce the pericranial muscle tenderness. The pericranial muscle tenderness is an important factor in the pathogenesis of TTH.

Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) make up a unique class of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) that are particularly intriguing for scientific research and are promising candidates for technological applications. A more precise level of control and greater yields can be achieved via catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD), which involves the breakdown of a carbonaceous gas over nanoparticles. The addition of molybdenum to the system can increase the selectivity with regard to the number of walls that exist in the obtained CNTs. As reported herein, we have designed and synthesized a novel Co-Mo-MOF, [Co(3-bpta)1.5(MoO4)]·H2O (where 3-bpta = N,N'-bis(3-pyridyl)terephthalamide), and employed the Co-Mo-MOF as a bimetallic catalyst precursor for the CCVD approach to prepare high-quality DWCNTs. The Co-Mo-MOF was employed after being calcined in N2 and H2 at 1100 °C and decomposing into CoO, CoMoO4, and MoO3. Existing CoMoO4 is unaltered after reduction in H2 at 1100 °C, while CoO and MoO3 are converted into Co0 and MoO2, and more CoMoO4 is created at the expense of Co0 and MoO2 without clearly defining agglomeration. Finally, the interaction between metallic Co particles and C2H4 is what initiates the formation of DWCNTs. In-depth discussion is provided in this paper regarding the mechanism underlying the high selectivity and activity of Co-Mo catalysts in regulating the development and structure of DWCNTs. The DWCNTs also offer excellence performance when they are used as water purification agents and as selective sorbents. This work opens a feasible way to use MOFs as a way to produce MWCNTs, thus blazing a new trail in the field of MOF-derived carbon-based materials.

BACKGROUND: Radical resection remains an effective strategy for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Unfortunately, the postoperative early recurrence (recurrence within 2 years) rate is still high. AIM: To develop a radiomics model based on preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) to evaluate early recurrence in HCC patients with a single tumour. METHODS: We enrolled a total of 402 HCC patients from two centres who were diagnosed with a single tumour and underwent radical resection. First, the features from the portal venous and arterial phases of CECT were extracted based on the region of interest, and the early recurrence-related radiomics features were selected via the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator proportional hazards model (LASSO Cox) to determine radiomics scores for each patient. Then, the clinicopathologic data were combined to develop a model to predict early recurrence by Cox regression. Finally, we evaluated the prediction performance of this model by multiple methods. RESULTS: A total of 1915 radiomics features were extracted from CECT images, and 31 of them were used to determine the radiomics scores, which showed a significant difference between the early recurrence and nonearly recurrence groups. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that radiomics scores and serum alpha-fetoprotein were independent indicators, and they were used to develop a combined model to predict early recurrence. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values for the training and validation cohorts were 0.77 and 0.74, respectively, while the C-indices were 0.712 and 0.674, respectively. The calibration curves and decision curve analysis showed satisfactory accuracy and clinical utilities. Kaplan-Meier curves based on recurrence-free survival and overall survival showed significant differences. CONCLUSION: The preoperative radiomics model was shown to be effective for predicting early recurrence among HCC patients with a single tumour.

Neuropathic pain is one of the most common types of chronic pain, and it arises as a direct consequence of a lesion or disease that affects the somatosensory system. Mitsugumin53 (MG53), which is a member of the TRIM family of proteins and is known as TRIM72, exerts protective effects on muscle, lung, kidney, brain, and other cells or tissues. Recently, increasing evidence has indicated that MG53 plays a vital role in regulating neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. However, the relationship between MG53 and neuropathic pain is unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the role of MG3 in neuropathic pain after chronic constriction injury (CCI) to the sciatic nerve in rats. To explore the mechanism of MG53 regulating the development of neuropathic pain, the rats was injected (intrathecal injection) of recombinant human MG53 (rhMG53) protein and/or nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) siRNA after CCI. Mechanical allodynia or thermal hyperalgesia was assessed by the 50% paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) or the paw withdrawal latency (PWL). The target molecules was detected using western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), biochemical evaluations, and Dihydroethidium (DHE) staining. The results indicated that the expression level of MG53 in the spinal cord was increased after CCI in rats. Moreover, intrathecal injection with rhMG53 protein notably alleviated CCI-induced mechanical allodynia, thermal hyperalgesia, neuroinflammation,oxidative stress and the increased level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) via activation of the Nrf2/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) signaling pathway. However, administration of Nrf2 siRNA abrogated the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of rhMG53 in CCI model rats. Our study demonstrated that MG53 improved neuropathic pain, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress via activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway in the spinal cord of CCI model rats, which suggested that MG53 may serve as a new target for the treatment of neuropathic pain.

Portable and wearable dual-mode sensors that can simultaneously detect multiple stimuli are essential for emerging artificial intelligence applications, and most efforts are devoted to exploring pressure-sensing devices. It is still challenging to integrate temperature and pressure-sensing functions into one sensor without the requirement for complex decoupling processes. Herein, we develop a self-powered and multifunctional dual-mode sensor by dip-coating melamine sponge with both poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). By integrating thermoelectric and conductive PEDOT:PSS/CNT components with the hydrophilic and resilient porous sponge, the resultant sensor is efficient in independently detecting temperature and pressure changes. The temperature and pressure stimuli can be independently converted to voltage and electrical resistance signals on the basis of the Seebeck and piezoresistive effects, respectively. The sensor exhibits a high Seebeck coefficient of 35.9 µV K-1 with a minimum temperature detection limit of 0.4 K and a pressure sensitivity of -3.35% kPa-1 with a minimum pressure detection limit of 4 Pa. Interestingly, the sensor can also be self-powered upon illumination. These multi-functionalities make the sensor a promising tool for applications in electronic skin, soft robots, solar energy conversion, and personal health monitoring.

The autoregressive integrated moving average with exogenous regressors (ARIMAX) modeling studies of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) are still rare. This study aims to explore whether incorporating air pollution and meteorological factors can improve the performance of a time series model in predicting PTB. We collected the monthly incidence of PTB, records of six air pollutants and six meteorological factors in Ningbo of China from January 2015 to December 2019. Then, we constructed the ARIMA, univariate ARIMAX, and multivariate ARIMAX models. The ARIMAX model incorporated ambient factors, while the ARIMA model did not. After prewhitening, the cross-correlation analysis showed that PTB incidence was related to air pollution and meteorological factors with a lag effect. Air pollution and meteorological factors also had a correlation. We found that the multivariate ARIMAX model incorporating both the ozone with 0-month lag and the atmospheric pressure with 11-month lag had the best performance for predicting the incidence of PTB in 2019, with the lowest fitted mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 2.9097% and test MAPE of 9.2643%. However, ARIMAX has limited improvement in prediction accuracy compared with the ARIMA model. Our study also suggests the role of protecting the environment and reducing pollutants in controlling PTB and other infectious diseases.

A previous study indicated that synergy-based functional electrical stimulation (FES) may improve instantaneous upper-limb motor performance for stroke survivors. However, it remains unclear whether the improvements will sustain over time to achieve functional gains associated with a task-oriented training (TOT). This pilot study was designed to investigate whether there is any promising sign of functional benefits. A TOT protocol with repeated forward and lateral reaching movements assisted by synergy-based FES was conducted in 16 patients (9 FES, 7 Sham) with post-stroke hemiparesis. FES stimuli were applied to 7 upper-extremity muscles of elbow and shoulder during patient movements. Envelopes of stimuli were individualized by re-composing the muscle synergies extracted from a healthy subject. After a five-day training for one hour each day, synergy-based FES induced higher increases in Fugl-Meyer scores (6.67 ± 5.20) than did the Sham (2.00 ± 2.38, p < 0.05). Peak velocity of forward reaching movements increased with a slope 73% steeper in FES group than Sham. In lateral reaching movements, the change in synergy similarity correlated with the change in elbow flexion for the FES group, but not the Sham group. Our results indicate that synergy-based FES therapy induced clinically traceable signs of improvements in poststroke motor performance. The muscle activation in patients also showed promising sign of alteration by FES. Results suggest that a larger scale clinical trial of synergy-based FES may be feasible towards an individualized therapeutic regimen.

BACKGROUND: To explore the value of quantitative shear wave elastography (SWE) plus the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) in the identification of solid breast masses. METHODS: A total of 108 patients with 120 solid breast masses admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were enrolled in this study. The pathological examination served as the gold standard for definitive diagnosis. Both SWE and BI-RADS grading were performed. RESULTS: Out of the 120 solid breast masses in 108 patients, 75 benign and 45 malignant masses were pathologically confirmed. The size, shape, margin, internal echo, microcalcification, lateral acoustic shadow, and posterior acoustic enhancement of benign and malignant masses were significantly different (all P < 0.05). The E mean, E max, SD, and E ratio of benign and malignant masses were significantly different (all P < 0.05). The E min was similar between benign and malignant masses (P > 0.05). The percentage of Adler grade II-III of the benign masses was lower than that of the malignant masses (P < 0.05). BI-RADS plus SWE yielded higher diagnostic specificity and positive predictive value than either BI-RADS or SWE; BI-RADS plus SWE yielded the highest diagnostic accuracy among the three methods (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: SWE plus routine ultrasonography BI-RADS has a higher value in differentiating benign from malignant breast masses than color doppler or SWE alone, which should be further promoted in clinical practice.

Silver nanowire (AgNW)-coated thin films are widely proposed for soft electronics application due to their good conductivity, transparency and flexibility. Here, we studied the microwave welding of AgNW-based soft electrodes for conductivity enhancement. The thermal effect of the microwave to AgNWs was analyzed by dispersing the nanowires in a nonpolar solution, the temperature of which was found to be proportional with the nanowire diameters. AgNWs were then coated on a thin film and welded under microwave heating, which achieved a film conductivity enhancement of as much as 79%. A microwave overheating of AgNWs, however, fused and broke the nanowires, which increased the film resistance significantly. A soft electrode was finally demonstrated using the microwave-welded AgNW thin film, and a 1.13 µA/mM sensitivity was obtained for glucose sensing. Above all, we analyzed the microwave thermal effect on AgNWs to provide a guidance to control the nanowire welding effect, which can be used for film conductivity enhancement and applied for soft and bio-compatible electrodes.

Bladder cancer (BCa) is an aggressive malignancy because of its distant metastasis and high recurrence rate. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) exert critical regulatory functions in cancer progression. However, the expression patterns and roles of circRNAs in BCa have not been well investigated. In this study, we first screened circRNA expression profiles using a circRNA microarray of paired BCa and normal tissues, and the expression of circST6GALNAC6 was confirmed by qRT-PCR and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). MTT, colony formation and Transwell assays were performed to measure cell proliferation, migration and invasion. We investigated the regulatory effect of circST6GALNAC6 on miRNA and its target genes to explore the potential regulatory mechanisms of circST6GALNAC6 by chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), MS2-tagged RNA affinity purification (MS2-TRAP), immunofluorescence (IF) and dual luciferase activity assays. A nude mouse xenograft model was used to examine the functions of circST6GALNAC6/STMN1 in tumour metastasis in vivo. We found that 881 circRNAs were significantly dysregulated in BCa tissues compared to normal tissues. circST6GALNAC6(hsa_circ_0088708) was downregulated in BCa tissues and cells. Overexpression of circST6GALNAC6 effectively inhibited the cell proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in vitro and suppressed BCa metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, we showed that the SP1 transcription factor, which binds to the circST6GALNAC6 mRNA transcript, activates circST6GALNAC6 transcription. Next, we verified that circST6GALNAC6 serves as a sponge that directly binds miR-200a-3p to regulate stathmin (STMN1) expression. Furthermore, we found that STMN1 is involved in circST6GALNAC6/miR-200a-3p axis-regulated BCa EMT and metastasis. Thus, our findings indicate an important underlying mechanism in BCa metastasis by which SP1-induced circST6GALNAC6 sponges miR-200a-3p to promote STMN1/EMT signalling. This mechanism could provide pivotal potential prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for BCa.

Organic donor-acceptor systems have attracted much attention due to their various potential applications. However, the rational construction and modulation of highly ordered donor-acceptor systems could be a challenge due to the complicated self-assembly process of donor and acceptor species. Considering the well-defined arrangement of species at the molecule level, a crystalline host-guest system could be an ideal platform for the rational construction of donor-acceptor systems. Herein, it is shown how the rational construction of highly tunable donor-acceptor materials can be achieved based on a crystalline host-guest platform. Within the well-established metal-organic framework NKU-111 as the crystalline host enabled by the relatively stable coordination-directed assembly, the introduction and arrangement of guest molecules in the crystals allow the rational construction of the NKU-111⊃guest donor-acceptor system. The donor-acceptor interaction in the systems can be readily modulated with different guest molecules, which can be justified by the well-demonstrated guest-dependent characteristics. Accordingly, the NKU-111⊃guest reveals highly tunable donor-acceptor properties such as charge-transfer-based emissions and electrical conductivity. This work indicates the potential of crystalline host-guest systems as an ideal platform for systematic investigations of donor-acceptor materials.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of the combination of serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), C-reactive protein (CRP), and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in patients with primary liver cancer (PLC) after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). METHODS: Overall, 287 PLC patients who had undergone TACE were allocated into recurrence and non-recurrence groups. One day before and seven days after TACE, CEUS was performed, and serum VEGF and CRP levels were determined. All patients were assigned into either a short time-to-radiologic progression (TTRP) group (TTRP ≤ 12 months) or a long TTRP group (TTRP > 12 months). RESULTS: Serum VEGF and CRP levels were higher in the recurrence group than the non-recurrence group after TACE. The sensitivity and specificity of CEUS parameters, serum VEGF and CRP levels, and the three combined, were utilized for the purposes of predicting the postoperative recurrences of PLC, which were 80.9% and 87.8%, 81.7% and 71.5%, 67.0% and 69.8%, and 87.8% and 90.1%, respectively. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that high serum levels of both VEGF and CRP in addition to a low time-to-peak (TTP) value in CEUS were indicators for poor prognosis in PLC patients.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) can attach to food, host tissues and the surfaces of medical implants and form a biofilm, which makes it difficult to eliminate. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of honokiol on biofilm-grown S. aureus. In this report, honokiol showed effective antibacterial activity against S. aureus in biofilms. S. aureus isolates are capable of producing distinct types of biofilms mediated by polysaccharide intercellular adhesion (PIA) or extracellular DNA (eDNA). The biofilms' susceptibility to honokiol was evaluated using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) analysis. The transcript levels of the biofilm-related genes, the expression of PIA, and the amount of eDNA of biofilm-grown S. aureus exposed to honokiol were also investigated. The results of this study show that honokiol can detach existing biofilms, kill bacteria in biofilms, and simultaneously inhibit the transcript levels of sarA, cidA and icaA, eDNA release, and the expression of PIA.

Two new zinc MOFs with similar "pillar-layered" framework structures based on 1,1'-biphenyl-2,2',6,6'-tetracarboxylic acid (H4bpta) and two different bipyridine pillar ligands, namely {[Zn4(bpta)2(4-pna)2(H2O)2]·4DMF·3H2O}n (1) and {[Zn2(bpta)(bpy-ea)(H2O)]·2DMF·H2O}n (2) (4-pna = N-(4-pyridyl)isonicotinamide and bpy-ea = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane), have been synthesized and investigated with their CO2 adsorption properties. By analysis of the structure properties and the CO2 adsorption performances of these two MOFs, it was found that the introduction of polar acylamide groups via 4-pna resulted in 1 with enhanced CO2 capacity and CO2/CH4 selectivity at low pressure. In contrast, the framework of 2 shows flexible properties originating from the flexibility of the ethanediylidene group in the bpy-ea ligand, which benefits the sieve effect of pores to give higher CO2/CH4 selectivity at a relatively high pressure range.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the impacts on the short-term efficacy and the long-term prevention of recurrence of allergic rhinitis treated with the triple-strong stimulation at Dazhui (GV 14) so as to provide the convenient and long-term effective therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion for allergic rhinitis. METHODS: One hundred and twenty cases of allergic rhinitis were randomized into an acupuncture group, an acupuncture + medication group and a triple-strong stimulation group, 40 cases in each one. In the acupuncture group, acupuncture was applied at Dazhui (GV 14), Fengchi (GB 20), Baihui (GV 20), Yintang (GV 29) and the others, stimulating with reinforcing manipulation for the deficiency and reducing manipulation for the excess, once every day. In the acupuncture + medication group, on the basis of acupuncture therapy, claritin (loratadine tablets) was supplemented for oral administration, 10 mg, once every two days, continuously for 30 days. In the triple-strong stimulation group, on the basis of acupuncture therapy, the strong needling, strong cupping and strong moxibustion were applied at Dazhui (GV 14). This combined therapy was given once every day in the first 3 days and once every two days afterwards. The 10 day treatment made one session, at the interval of 3 days between the sessions and totally 3 sessions were required in the three groups. Separately, before treatment, after treatment and in 6 months after treatment, the changes of symptom and physical sign score and value of single item symptom including nasal itching, nasal blockage, sneezing and rhinorrhea were observed in the patients of the three groups. And the long-term clinical efficacy was compared among the three groups. RESULTS: The symptom and physical sign score and the value of single item symptom were all reduced in the three groups after treatment and in 6 months after treatment (P < 0.001, P < 0.01, P < 0.05). The results in the triple-strong stimulation group were superior to the other two groups (all P < 0.05). In the triple-strong stimulation group, the total effective rate was 92.5% (36/40) in the follow-up of 6 months after treatment, which was better than 60.5% (23/38) in the acupuncture group and 69.2% (27/39) in the acupuncture + medication group (both P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The combined therapy of acupuncture and the triple-strong stimulation at Dazhui (GV 14) achieves the reliable and effective result in the clinical treatment of allergic rhinitis and displays the good role on the prevention from long-term recurrence.

RESUMEN

A new class of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been synthesized by ligand-functionalization strategy. Systematic studies of their adsorption properties were performed at low and high pressure. Importantly, when fluorine was introduced into the framework via the functionalization, both the framework stabilities and adsorption capacities towards H2/CO2 were enhanced significantly. This consequence can be well interpreted by theoretical studies of these MOFs structures. In addition, one of these MOFs TKL-107 was used to fabricate mixed matrix membranes, which exhibit great potential for the application of CO2 separation.

OBJECTIVE: To explore whether the abnormality of hMLH1 gene may be an early event of carcinogenesis in rectal carcinoma, and to evaluate the diagnostic value in differentiation between intraepithelial neoplasm and early stage of colorectal carcinoma. METHODS: The expression of hMLH1 protein in 28 cases with early invasive rectal carcinoma(EIRC), 36 cases with rectal intraepithelial neoplasm(RIEN), and 30 cases with normal rectal mucosa(NRM) which were collected through surgical operations were detected by PV-9000 immunohistochemical method. RESULTS: The positive expression rates of hMLH1 protein were 100%(30/30), 77.8%(28/36), and 39.3%(11/28) in NRM, RIEN, and EIRC respectively. The difference was statistically significant between RIEN and EIRC(P=0.002), and the difference was also statistically significant between RIEN and NRM(P=0.006). The positive expression of hMLH1 was not related to age, gender, tumor maximum diameter, dysplasia, tumor types, and distance from the anal verge in RIEV group(P>0.05). In EIRC group, hMLH1 was associated with tumor differentiation(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: hMLH1 gene deletion may be an early event during carcinogenesis of rectal carcinoma, which may be useful in differentiation of intraepithelial neoplasm from early rectal carcinoma.
