RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of one patient with primary adrenal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (PANKTCL), and to strengthen the understanding of this rare type of lymphoma. METHODS: The clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment process, and prognosis of the patient admitted in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: Combined with pathology, imaging, bone marrow examination, etc, the patient was diagnosed with PANKTCL (CA stage, stage II; PINK-E score 3, high-risk group). Six cycles of "P-GemOx+VP-16" regimen(gemcitabine 1 g/m2 d1 + oxaliplatin 100 mg/m2 d 1 + etoposide 60 mg/m2 d 2-4 + polyethylene glycol conjugated asparaginase 3 750 IU d 5) was performed, and complete response was assessed in 4 cycles. Maintenance therapy with sintilimab was administered after the completion of chemotherapy. Eight months after the complete response, the patient experienced disease recurrence and underwent a total of four courses of chemotherapy, during which hemophagocytic syndrome occurred. The patient died of disease progression 1 month later. CONCLUSION: PANKTCL is rare, relapses easily, and has a worse prognosis. The choice of the "P-GemOx+VP-16" regimen combined with sintilimab help to improve the survival prognosis of patient with non-upper aerodigestive tract natural killer /T-cell lymphoma.

RESUMEN

Cadmium (Cd) removal is imperative to ensure the safety of aquatic-ecosystem, yet its effective removal technology has remained elusive by far. To address this concern, three-dimensional N-doped carbon (NC) polyhedrons affording ample porosity is fabricated based upon the thermal carbonization and KOH activation of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) precursor. Thus-derived activated NC (a-NC) adsorbent not only overcomes the inherent instability of ZIF-8 but also harvests a maximum Cd(Ⅱ) adsorption capacity of 370.2 mg g-1, which evidently surpasses those of bare NC counterpart as well as previously reported adsorbents. Impressively, a-NC achieves ca. 100% removal of aqueous Cd(Ⅱ) in a broad working pH range (5-9), and particularly attains stable performances (81-92%) in various realistic water. Theoretical calculations in combination with experimental characterizations further offer mechanistic insight into the enhanced removal exerted by a-NC. Notably, owing to the increased specific surface area (3041 vs. 389 m2 g-1) and enhanced sp2 carbon content (91.7 vs. 68.8%) of a-NC as compared to NC, advanced Cd(Ⅱ) adsorption via a-NC can be exhibited. Our designed a-NC material harnessing favorable recycling capability would be in particular attractive in the realm of practical Cd(Ⅱ) remediation.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical effect of the supraorbital keyhole approach (SKA) via a forehead wrinkle incision in the resection of tumors in the anterior skull base and sellar region. METHODS: Sixty patients with tumors located in the anterior skull base and sellar region treated through the SKA in our hospital from 2017 to 2020. The skin incision and bone flap position were designed individually according to the size and growth of the tumor. The clinical data of the patients were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS: Based on the feasibility of this surgical approach, personalized skin incisions and bone flaps were designed for different lesions. Among the 60 patients, gross total resection was achieved in 53 cases (88.3%), for meningiomas 97.8% (46/47) and near-total resection in 7 cases (11.7%). In the survey of the patients' scale scores toward skin incision after operation, the "no pain" level was 90.0% (54/60) and 91.7% (55/60) for the level of "very satisfactory" of the aesthetic of the skin incision (as shown in Supplementary Digital Content, Table 2, http://links.lww.com/ SCS/D742). Three patients whose satisfaction with the aesthetic of the incision excelled scale 3, suggesting that they were not completely satisfied with the wound healing. No permanent skin incision discomfort was noted during follow-up. There were no surgical deaths. CONCLUSIONS: The SKA via forehead wrinkle incision is a flexible and feasible method for tumors near the midline of the anterior skull base and sellar region. However, this approach requires strict preoperative planning, which includes choosing appropriate tumors and applicable forehead wrinkles.

RESUMEN

The efficient enrichment and reutilization of phosphate from natural water still remains a daunting challenge to satisfy the increasingly stringent phosphate discharge criteria. In response to this problem, the presented study successfully synthesizes a series of magnetic zeolitic imidazolate framework-8@engineering nanomaterials (ZIF8@ENMs) via a two-step hydrothermal and coprecipitation method by facilely growing ZIF8 and/or Fe3O4 on various functional ENMs. Structure morphology, chemical composition and hysteresis curve characterizations demonstrate the successful formation of magnetic Fe3O4-ZIF8@ENM. Amongst the prepared magnetic ZIF8@ENMs hybrids, the Fe3O4-ZIF8@ENMs possessing massive hydroxyl groups is demonstrated to harvest the maximum adsorption capacity of 441.7 mg g-1 under neutral condition. Such-acquired adsorption capacity evidently surpass state-of-the-art adsorbents. Systematic assessment of the chemical condition effects on phosphate removal, revealing its conspicuous merits of robust pH independence (94.63-98.20%), high selectivity pinpointing phosphate within complex cations, ease-of-separation and satisfactory recycle. The outstanding performance of magnetic ZIF8@ENMs are mainly derived from the formed strong ZnOP, FeOP and electrostatic interactions between phosphate and adsorbents. Along this line, designing magnetic MOFs-based hybrids towards phosphate are anticipated to be promising avenues for advanced treatment of phosphate-like contaminants and efficient recycle in practical applications.
