RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Diffuse cystic lung diseases comprise a heterogeneous group of pulmonary disorders, with most cases being benign and malignant instances being rare. CASE REPORT: We present an unusual case of lung adenocarcinoma characterized by the progressive diffusion of cystic lesions. The patient, initially diagnosed with a pulmonary infection and lymphoid interstitial pneumonia, underwent repeated misdiagnoses. Ultimately, the diagnosis was confirmed using radial endobronchial ultrasound-guided-transbronchial cryobiopsy (rEBUS-TBCB). A 44-year-old male was admitted to the hospital with a persistent cough and expectoration of bloody sputum for over 6 months. Thoracic computed tomography revealed widespread cystic lesions and nodules. Despite multiple misdiagnoses, rEBUS-TBCB successfully confirmed the presence of lung adenocarcinoma and identified an echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4-anaplastic lymphoma kinase (EML4-ALK) E13:A20 gene rearrangement. The patient was subsequently transferred to a local hospital for oral targeted drug therapy, which resulted in a favorable response. CONCLUSION: In conclusions, transbronchial lung biopsies often provide inadequate specimens for confirming diffuse cystic lung diseases. In contrast, the utilization of rEBUS-guided TBCB offers superior diagnostic capabilities, as it enables the collection of larger lung biopsies with higher diagnostic yields and fewer complications compared to surgical lung biopsy.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is caused by repeated blockage of the upper respiratory airways during sleep. The traditional evaluation methods for OSA severity are yet limited. This study aimed to screen gene signatures to effectively evaluate OSA severity. Expression profiles of peripheral blood mononuclear cells in the different severities of OSA patients were accessed from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. A total of 446 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened among the varying severities of OSA samples by analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. A total of 1,152 DEGs were screened between the pre- and post-treatment OSA samples by using t test. Overlap of the two groups of DEGs was selected (88 DEGs) for Metascape enrichment analysis. Afterwards, Mfuzz package was used to perform soft clustering analysis on these 88 genes, by which 6 clusters were obtained. It was observed that the gene expression condition of the cluster 3 was positively associated with OSA severity degree; also, the gene expression condition in cluster 4 was negatively correlated with OSA severity. A total of 10 gene markers related to OSA progression were selected from cluster 3 and cluster 4. Their expression levels and correlation were analyzed. The marker genes in cluster 3 and cluster 4 were examined, finding that most genes were significantly correlated with apnea hypopnea index (AHI). An accurate and objective assessment of the severity of OSA is of great significance for formulating follow-up treatment strategies for patients with OSA. In this paper, a set of marker genes that can detect the severity of OSA were screened by bioinformatics methods, which could be jointly used with the traditional OSA diagnostic index to achieve a more reliable OSA severity evaluation.

RESUMEN

In this paper we present a high power long-wave infrared ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric amplifier (OPA) pumped by a 2097-nm Q-switched Ho:YAG laser with pulse repetition frequency of 20 kHz. When the incident Ho pump power was 116.0 W, the maximum average output power of 11.4 W at 8.3 µm was achieved in the ZGP OPA. The optical conversion efficiency from Ho to long-wave infrared was about 9.8%. The ZGP OPA produced 30.4 ns long-wave infrared laser pulse. The beam quality factor (M2) of ZGP OPA was measured to be about 2.9 at the maximum average output power.

RESUMEN

We, for the first time, demonstrate a tunable mid-infrared BaGa4Se7-based optical parametric oscillator pumped by a acousto-optical Q-switched Ho:YAG laser at 2090.6 nm. Up to 1.55 W of average power was generated in the 3-5 µm range, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 14.4% and a slope efficiency of 19.9%. The mid-IR radiation spectra were also seriously researched at different phase-matched angles. The tunable range was 3.49-4.13 µm for the signal, and 5.19-4.34 µm for the idler.

RESUMEN

We discuss what we believe is the first continuous-wave mode-locked Ho:YAG ceramic laser. We produced a mode-locked pulse using an acousto-optic modulator. We used a 1.91 µm Tm-fiber laser as the pump source. At the incident pump power of 11.4 W, we achieved the maximum output power of 1.84 W at 2122.1 nm in a continuous-wave mode-locked regime. We obtained a short-duration pulse of 241.5 ps at a repetition frequency of 82.15 MHz and achieved the beam quality factor M² of 1.2. In addition, the maximum single pulse energy was 22.4 nJ.

RESUMEN

Comparative investigations of high-power diode-end-pumped Tm:YLF laser with a-cut and c-cut slab crystals were demonstrated. A maximum output power of 87.5 W of 1907.8 nm Tm:YLF laser with two slab crystals was achieved, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 35.9% and an optical-to-optical efficiency of 32.1% with respect to the pump power. The c-cut slab Tm:YLF laser operated at 1907.8 nm with a beam quality factor of M2∼1.79 at the output power level of 71.0 W.

RESUMEN

We used the Cr2+:ZnS as a saturable absorber to obtain a passively Q-switched Ho:YAG ceramic laser operating near 2.1 µm. The maximum average output power of 14.8 W and a shortest pulse width of 29 ns were obtained, and to our knowledge, this is the best report for the PQS Ho:YAG ceramic laser. A maximum energy per pulse of 0.6 mJ with a maximum pulse repetition frequency of 24.4 kHz was achieved, which corresponded to a peak power of 20 kW. We first used the PQS laser as the pump source of optical parametric oscillator to obtain the mid-infrared laser. A maximum average output power of 4.4 W was achieved from the ZnGeP2 parametric oscillator, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 49.5% with respect to the incident pump power.
