A study was undertaken into the emulsification and viscosity reduction processes of crude oil originating from the Jurassic formation of the Sichuan Basin. Central to this investigation was the successful synthesis of a carbon-based nano emulsifier named GOPH, utilizing graphene oxide as substrate and hydrophilic alkyl glycidyl ether and polyoxyethylene ether as modifiers. The structural integrity of this nano-emulsifier was comprehensively characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Notably, GOPH nanofluids exhibited a remarkable merit in decreasing the oil/water interfacial tension from 31.96 mN m-1 to a low value of 9.76 mN m-1 with a critical concentration of 45 ppm. Moreover, interfacial film folding experiments revealed that GOPH nanoparticles "jammed" at the oil-water interface, forming a robust film. When Jurassic crude oil was the oil phase, and GOPH nanofluids were introduced into the water phase, the crude oil was successfully induced to form a low-viscosity oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion. Emulsion droplet size and viscosity measurements demonstrated that this emulsion possessed small size distributions with remarkable stability, achieving a viscosity reduction of up to 91.6% at a water content of 80%. The underlying mechanism for this phenomenon mainly lies in the interaction between the carbon-based nano-emulsifier and asphaltene, which form a composite unit, enabling the construction of a flexible interfacial film that significantly stabilizes the O/W emulsion.

Objective: In this study, we examined the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy in ameliorating cognitive deficits in mice with Alzheimer's disease (AD), while also assessing its impact on the autophagic pathway within the context of AD. Methods: 20 double-transgenic mice expressing the amyloid precursor protein and presenilin 1 (APP/PS1) were purposefully selected and randomly assigned to groups A and B. Concurrently, 20 C57BL/6 mice were chosen and randomly categorized into groups C and D, each consisting of 10 mice. Mice in groups B and D received HBO treatment. The Morris water maze assay was used to assess changes in mouse behavior. Immunohistochemistry techniques were used to quantify the expression levels of amyloid-beta 42 (Aß42) and microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3 (LC3) in hippocampal tissues, while western blot analysis was used to investigate the levels of LC3-II, p62, phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) proteins within hippocampal tissues. Results: Mice allocated to group B exhibited reduced escape latency and prolonged dwell time in the target quadrant compared to other groups. Histological examination revealed conspicuous plaque-like deposits of Aß42 in the hippocampal tissues of mice in groups A and B. Group B displayed diminished Aß42-positive reactants and augmented microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-LC3-positive reactants compared to group A. LC3-positive reactants were also detected in the hippocampal tissues of mice in groups C and D, surpassing the levels observed in groups A and B. Furthermore, group B demonstrated significantly lower expression of mTOR protein and markedly higher expression of LC3-II protein in mouse hippocampal tissues when compared to group A (P < 0.05). Conversely, there were no significant disparities noted in PI3K and p62 protein expression between groups B and A. Notably, no discernible discrepancies were observed in the expression levels of mTOR, PI3K, LC3-II, and p62 proteins between groups C and D within mouse hippocampal tissues. Conclusion: HBO treatment demonstrates efficacy in enhancing cognitive function in mice with AD and holds promise as a potential therapeutic intervention for AD by facilitating the activation of the mTOR pathway-mediated autophagy.

A convenient method for synthesizing ß-trifluoromethyl vinyl ethers and diethers through the base-mediated C-O coupling of (E)-1,2-dichloro-3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-ene and phenols has been developed. Remarkably, the present process shows perfect regioselective and stereoselective yield of the Z/E isomers for ß-trifluoromethyl vinyl ethers with high efficiency. Additionally, ß-trifluoromethyl vinyl diethers with identical/diverse phenoxy groups were also obtained and the regulation of the product configuration was achieved. These reactions feature transition-metal-free conditions, wide substrate scope, and atom economy.

AIM: To investigate the current situation and influencing factors of self-management ability in dry eye patients in west China. METHODS: A total of 265 patients clinically diagnosed with dry eye received a convenience survey questionnaire at West China Hospital of Sichuan University. All participants completed the rating scale of health self-management skill for adults (AHSMSRS), Huaxi Emotional-Distress Index (HEI), e-health literacy scale (e-HEALS) and Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (Brief-IPQ). A generalized linear model was employed to establish a multivariate linear model with demographic data, psychological state, e-HEALS, and illness perception as independent variables and health self-management skill score as the dependent variable. RESULTS: The mean score for health self-management skill was 165.58±15.79. Multivariate analysis revealed that advanced age, better illness perception and improved psychological state were associated with better health self-management ability among dry eye patients. Furthermore, the health self-management ability of patients with a disease duration less than 1y was found to be higher compared to those with a disease duration exceeding 1y. CONCLUSION: The health self-management ability of dry eye patients in west China is relatively high. Age, duration of disease, illness perception and psychological state are the influencing factors on the health self-management ability of dry eye patients.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the current situation of innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, and analyze the influencing factors of innovative behavior. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 301 ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, representing Representing 82 hospitals in 25 provinces, using a general data questionnaire, Innovative Behavior Scale(IBS), and conditions of work effectiveness questionnaire(CWEQ-II). RESULTS: The mean total score for innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses was (4.73 ± 1.14), and the mean total score for organizational structure authorization was (61.65 ± 14.69). The logistic regression analysis revealed that organizational structure authorization, hospital grade, and ophthalmic specialty nurses primarily engaged in clinical care and clinical research had statistically significant impacts on the level of innovative behavior (P < 0.05). The higher the organizational structure authorization score, the higher the innovative behavior level of ophthalmic specialty nurses, the level of innovation behavior of grade-B tertiary hospitals is higher than that of grade-A tertiary hospitals. The main positions are low level of innovative behavior in clinical care and high level of innovative behavior in clinical research. CONCLUSIONS: The innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses are at a medium level, the innovative behavior of ophthalmic specialty nurses is influenced by factors such as organizational structure empowerment level, hospital grade, and main job position. Nursing managers are advised to develop tailored training programs based on the influencing factors of innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses, in order to enhance their level of innovation and improve the quality of nursing services provided by Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses.

OBJECTIVE: This study is to investigate the role of gut microbiota transmission in the development of anxiety/depression in offspring exposed to maternal depression. METHOD: Offspring rats were cohabitated with their depressed mother or father rats (which exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)) for 2, 4, and 6 months, the anxiety- and depression-like behaviors, and interaction/caring activities between mother/father and their pups were detected. The gut microbiota composition and its relationship with behaviors were analyzed. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) was performed to establish the gut microbiota of depressed/normal mother rats in the offspring rats to further confirm the role of "depressive gut microbiota" transmission in mediating the anxiety/depression in the pups. RESULTS: Anxiety and depression phenotypes can be transmitted from depressed mother rats to their cohabited offspring. Frequent interactions and gut microbiota assimilation were observed between rat mothers and their pups. Remodeling of the gut microbiota in pups by FMT could induce or attenuate anxiety- and depression-like phenotypes depending on the origin of the fecal microbiota. By comparison, the pups cohabiting with depressed father rats exhibited milder anxiety and depression. CONCLUSIONS: These data together support that depressed mothers can transmit anxiety/depression to their pups through gut microbiota assimilation, which is related to frequent interactions. Our study reinforces the significance of mental health of mothers in preventing the occurrence of childhood anxiety and depression, and pointing out the possibility of remodeling intestinal microbiota as an effective therapeutic approach for treating anxiety/depression in children.

Cruise ships are distinguished as special passenger ships, transporting passengers to various ports and giving importance to comfort. High comfort can attract lots of passengers and generate substantial profits. Vibration and noise are the most important indicators for assessing the comfort of cruise ships. Existing methods for analyzing vibration and noise data have shown limitations in uncovering essential information and discerning critical disparities in vibration and noise levels across different ship districts. Conversely, the rapid development in machine learning present an opportunity to leverage sophisticated algorithms for a more insightful examination of vibration and noise aboard cruise ships. This study designed a machine learning-driven approach to analyze the vibration and noise data. Drawing data from China's first large-scale cruise ship, encompassing 127 noise samples, this study sets up a classification task, where decks were assigned as labels and frequencies served as features. Essential information was extracted by investigating this problem. Several machine learning algorithms, including feature ranking, selection, and classification algorithms, were adopted in this method. One or two essential noise frequencies related to each of the decks, except the 10th deck, were obtained, which were partly validated by the traditional statistical methods. Such findings were helpful in reducing and controlling the vibration and noise in cruise ships. Furthermore, the study develops a classifier to distinguish noise samples, which utilizes random forest as the classification algorithm with eight optimal frequency features identified by LightGBM. This classifier yielded a Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.3415. This study gives a new direction for investigating vibration and noise in ships.

Clostridioides difficile is a leading cause of healthcare-associated infections, causing billions of economic losses every year. Its symptoms range from mild diarrhea to life-threatening damage to the colon. Transmission and recurrence of C. difficile infection (CDI) are mediated by the metabolically dormant spores, while the virulence of C. difficile is mainly due to the two large clostridial toxins, TcdA and TcdB. Producing toxins or forming spores are two different strategies for C. difficile to cope with harsh environmental conditions. It is of great significance to understand the molecular mechanisms for C. difficile to skew to either of the cellular processes. Here, we summarize the current understanding of the regulation and connections between toxin production and sporulation in C. difficile and further discuss the potential solutions for yet-to-be-answered questions.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the risk factors for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in twin preterm infants with a gestational age of <34 weeks, and to provide a basis for early identification of BPD in twin preterm infants in clinical practice. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for the twin preterm infants with a gestational age of <34 weeks who were admitted to 22 hospitals nationwide from January 2018 to December 2020. According to their conditions, they were divided into group A (both twins had BPD), group B (only one twin had BPD), and group C (neither twin had BPD). The risk factors for BPD in twin preterm infants were analyzed. Further analysis was conducted on group B to investigate the postnatal risk factors for BPD within twins. RESULTS: A total of 904 pairs of twins with a gestational age of <34 weeks were included in this study. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that compared with group C, birth weight discordance of >25% between the twins was an independent risk factor for BPD in one of the twins (OR=3.370, 95%CI: 1.500-7.568, P<0.05), and high gestational age at birth was a protective factor against BPD (P<0.05). The conditional logistic regression analysis of group B showed that small-for-gestational-age (SGA) birth was an independent risk factor for BPD in individual twins (OR=5.017, 95%CI: 1.040-24.190, P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The development of BPD in twin preterm infants is associated with gestational age, birth weight discordance between the twins, and SGA birth.

Stress is an important initiating factor in promoting Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. However, the mechanism by which stress induces AD-like cognitive impairment remains to be clarified. Here, we demonstrate that DNA damage is increased in stress hormone Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)-treated cells and in brains of mice exposed to chronic restraint stress. Accumulation of DNA damage drives activation of cell cycle checkpoint protein kinase 1 (Chk1), upregulation of cancerous inhibitor of PP2A (CIP2A), tau hyperphosphorylation, and Aß overproduction, eventually resulting in synaptic impairment and cognitive deficits. Pharmacological intervention targeting Chk1 by specific inhibitor and DNA damage by vitamin C, suppress DNA damage-Chk1-CIP2A signaling pathway in chronic stress animal model, which in turn attenuate AD-like pathologies, synaptic impairments and cognitive deficits. Our study uncovers a novel molecular mechanism of stress-induced AD-like pathologies and provides effective preventive and therapeutic strategies targeting this signaling pathway.

Nauclea officinalis is a Chinese medicinal material with a high medicinal value, which contains various chemical constituents such as alkaloids, pentacyclic triterpenoids and their saponins, organic phenolic acids and their glycosides, iridoids, and flavonoids. It has antiviral, antibacterial, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and immunoregulatory functions. This article systematically reviewed the reported chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of N. officinalis. According to the concept of quality markers, the quality markers of N. officinalis were predicted and analyzed from the aspects of plant kinship, specificity of chemical constituents, traditional drug efficacy, measurability of chemical constituents, plasma components, and different producing areas and harvest times, in order to provide a basis for the quality evaluation of N. officinalis.

Salmonella enterica is a common foodborne pathogen that poses significant safety risks across the world. And benzalkonium bromide (BK) is widely used as a disinfectant to sterilize the food processing equipment. It has been reported that sub-lethal concentration of disinfectants induced not only the homologous resistance but also cross-resistances. This work analyzed the induced resistances of Salmonella Enteritidis by short-term adaptation (STA) and long-term adaptation (LTA) to BK. We have demonstrated that inefficient sterilization exposes Salmonella Enteritidis to sub-lethal concentrations of BK, and adapts bacteria to a higher minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration. In addition, STA, but not LTA, to BK induced heterogeneous resistance to sodium hypochlorite, and cross-resistance to freezing, desiccation, and heating, which may be caused by the membrane composition change of Salmonella Enteritidis. This work could be useful to the optimization of cleaning protocol.

A new group of BF3 complexing phosphate/phosphonate ionic liquids (ILs) [Emim][X(BF3)2] (X=dimethyl phosphate, diethyl phosphate, methyl phosphonate, and ethyl phosphonate) were synthesized and characterized. Key thermophysical properties of the new complex ionic liquids, including density, viscosity, conductivity, surface tension, solid-liquid phase transition, and thermal stability were determined and compared with those of [Emim][X]. Some other important thermophysical properties such as isobaric thermal expansion coefficient, molecular volume, standard molar entropy, and lattice potential energy were obtained from measured density data, and the free volume was estimated by a linear equation presented in this article, while critical temperature, normal boiling temperature, and enthalpy of vaporization were estimated from measured surface tension and density data. Furthermore, Fragility study shows that [Emim][X(BF3)2] should be considered as fragile liquids, while [Emim][X] could be considered as extremely fragile liquids. The ionicity of [Emim][X(BF3)2] was predicted by Walden rule, and the result shows that these ILs fit well with Walden law. The key features of these complex ILs are their extremely low glass transition (-95.33~-98.46 °C) without melting, considerably low viscosities (33.876~58.117â mPa â s), and high values of free volume fraction (comparable to [Omim][BF4], [Emim][NTf2], and [Emim][TCB]).

PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to explore the predictive value of free triiodothyronine to free thyroxine ratio (FT3/FT4) on contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) and poor prognosis in euthyroid patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS: The present study included 3,116 euthyroid patients who underwent elective PCI. The main outcome was CA-AKI, and the secondary outcome was long-term mortality. All patients were divided into three groups according to the tertiles of FT3/FT4 levels. RESULTS: During hospitalization, a total of 160 cases (5.1%) of CA-AKI occurred. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis indicated a linear and negative relationship between FT3/FT4 and CA-AKI risk (P for nonlinearity = 0.2621). Besides, the fully-adjusted logistic regression model revealed that patients in tertile 3 (low FT3/FT4 group) had 1.82 times [odds ratio (OR): 1.82, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.13-3.02, P = 0.016] as high as the risk of CA-AKI than those in tertile 1 (high FT3/FT4 group). Similarly, patients in tertile 3 were observed to have a higher incidence of long-term mortality [fully-adjusted hazard ratio (HR): 1.58, 95% CI: 1.07-2.32, P = 0.021]. Similarly, the Kaplan-Meier curves displayed significant differences in long-term mortality among the three groups (log-rank test, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: In euthyroid patients undergoing elective PCI, low levels of FT3/FT4 were independently associated with an increased risk of CA-AKI and long-term mortality. Routine evaluation of FT3/FT4 may aid in risk stratification and guide treatment decisions within this particular patient group.

BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related Tauopathies are characterised by the pathologically hyperphosphorylated and aggregated microtubule-associated protein Tau, which is accompanied by neuroinflammation mediated by activated microglia. However, the role of Tau pathology in microglia activation or their causal relationship remains largely elusive. METHODS: The levels of nucleotide-binding oligomerisation domain (NOD)-like receptor pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) acetylation and inflammasome activation in multiple cell models with Tau proteins treatment, transgenic mice with Tauopathy, and AD patients were measured by Western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. In addition, the acetyltransferase activity of Tau and NLRP3 acetylation sites were confirmed using the test-tube acetylation assay, co-immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence (IF) staining, mass spectrometry and molecular docking. The Tau-overexpressing mouse model was established by overexpression of human Tau proteins in mouse hippocampal CA1 neurons through the adeno-associated virus injection. The cognitive functions of Tau-overexpressing mice were assessed in various behavioural tests, and microglia activation was analysed by Iba-1 IF staining and [18F]-DPA-714 positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging. A peptide that blocks the interaction between Tau and NLRP3 was synthesised to determine the in vitro and in vivo effects of Tau-NLRP3 interaction blockade on NLRP3 acetylation, inflammasome activation, microglia activation and cognitive function. RESULTS: Excessively elevated NLRP3 acetylation and inflammasome activation were observed in 3xTg-AD mice, microtubule-associated protein Tau P301S (PS19) mice and AD patients. It was further confirmed that mimics of 'early' phosphorylated-Tau proteins which increase at the initial stage of diseases with Tauopathy, including TauT181E, TauS199E, TauT217E and TauS262E, significantly promoted Tau-K18 domain acetyltransferase activity-dependent NLRP3 acetylation and inflammasome activation in HEK293T and BV-2 microglial cells. In addition, Tau protein could directly acetylate NLRP3 at the K21, K22 and K24 sites at its PYD domain and thereby induce inflammasome activation in vitro. Overexpression of human Tau proteins in mouse hippocampal CA1 neurons resulted in impaired cognitive function, Tau transmission to microglia and microgliosis with NLRP3 acetylation and inflammasome activation. As a targeted intervention, competitive binding of a designed Tau-NLRP3-binding blocking (TNB) peptide to block the interaction of Tau protein with NLRP3 inhibited the NLRP3 acetylation and downstream inflammasome activation in microglia, thereby alleviating microglia activation and cognitive impairment in mice. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, our findings provide evidence for a novel role of Tau in the regulation of microglia activation through acetylating NLRP3, which has potential implications for early intervention and personalised treatment of AD and related Tauopathies.

Purpose: The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) based on creatinine is crucial for the risk assessment of contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI). In recent, the difference between cystatin C-based eGFR (eGFRcys) and creatinine-based eGFR (eGFRcr) has been widely documented. We aimed to explore whether intraindividual differences between eGFRcys and eGFRcr had potential value for CA-AKI risk assessment in patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Patients and Methods: From January 2012 to December 2018, we retrospectively observed 5049 patients receiving elective PCI. To determine eGFR, serum creatinine and cystatin C levels were measured. CA-AKI was defined as serum creatinine being increased ≥ 50% or 0.3 mg/dL within 48 h after contrast agents exposure. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) was defined as the eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2. Results: Approximately half of the participants (2479, 49.1%) had a baseline eGFRdiff (eGFRcys-eGFRcr) between -15 and 15 mL/min/1.73 m2. Restricted cubic splines analysis revealed a nonlinear relationship between eGFRdiff and CA-AKI. Multivariable logistic regression analysis indicated that compared with the reference group (-15 to 15 mL/min/1.73 m2), the negative-eGFRdiff group (less than -15 mL/min/1.73 m2) had a higher risk of CA-AKI (OR, 3.44; 95% CI, 2.57-4.64). Furthermore, patients were divided into four groups based on CKD identified by eGFRcys or eGFRcr. Multivariable logistic analysis revealed that patients with either CKDcys (OR, 2.94; 95% CI, 2.19-3.95, P < 0.001) or CKDcr (OR, 2.44; 95% CI, 1.19-4.63, P < 0.001) had an elevated risk of CA-AKI compared to those without CKDcys and CKDcr. Conclusion: There are frequent intraindividual differences between eGFRcys and eGFRcr, and these differences can be used to forecast the risk of CA-AKI.

PURPOSE: Inflammation is commonly considered a mechanism underlying contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI). This study aimed to explore the predictive capability of the novel inflammatory marker lactate dehydrogenase-to-albumin ratio (LAR) for CA-AKI following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and further compare it with other common inflammatory biomarkers. METHODS: This study enrolled 5,435 patients undergoing elective PCI. The primary outcome was CA-AKI, and the secondary outcome was all-cause mortality. All patients were grouped into three groups based on the LAR tertiles. RESULTS: Three hundred fifteen patients (5.8%) experienced CA-AKI during hospitalization. The fully adjusted logistic regression suggested a significant increase in the risk of CA-AKI in LAR Tertile 3 (odds ratio [OR]: 2.51, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.68-3.83, p < .001) and Tertile 2 (OR: 2.11, 95% CI: 1.42-3.20, p < .001) compared to Tertile 1. Additionally, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis demonstrated that LAR exhibited significantly superior predictive capability for CA-AKI compared to other inflammatory biomarkers. Regarding the secondary outcome, multivariate COX regression analysis showed a positive correlation between elevated LAR levels and all-cause mortality. CONCLUSION: In patients undergoing elective PCI, LAR was significantly independently associated with CA-AKI, and it stood out as the optimal inflammatory biomarker for predicting CA-AKI.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To investigate the predictors of Gleason Grading Group (GGG) upgrading in low-risk prostate cancer (Gleason score=3 + 3) from transperineal biopsy after radical prostatectomy (RP). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The clinical data of 160 patients who underwent transperineal biopsy and RP from January 2017 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. First, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to obtain independent predictors of postoperative GGG upgrading. Then receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of predictors. Finally, Linear-by-Linear Association test was used to analyze the risk trends of patients in different predictor groups in the postoperative GGG. RESULTS: In this study, there were 81 cases (50.6%) in the GGG concordance group and 79 cases (49.4%) in the GGG upgrading group. Univariate analysis showed age, free/total prostate-specific antigen (f/tPSA), proportion of positive biopsies, positive target of magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI) and positive target of contrast-enhanced ultrasound had significant effects on GGG upgrading (all P < .05). In multivariate logistic regression analysis, age (odds ratio [OR]=1.066, 95%CI=1.007-1.127, P = .027), f/tPSA (OR=0.001, 95%CI=0-0.146, P = .001) and positive target of MRI (OR=3.005, 95%CI=1.353-76.674, P = .007) were independent predictors. The prediction model (area under curve=0.751 P < .001) had higher predictive efficacy than all independent predictors. The proportion of patients in exposed group of different GGG increased with the level of GGG, but decreased in nonexposed group, and the linear trend was significantly different (all P < .001). CONCLUSION: Age, f/tPSA, and positive target of MRI were independent predictors of postoperative GGG upgrading. The predictive model constructed had the best diagnostic efficacy.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the experiences of parents who have experienced bereavement in their efforts to preserve memories of their deceased child. METHODS: Employing a qualitative meta-synthesis approach, this study systematically sought relevant qualitative literature by conducting searches across various electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Wiley, up until July 2023. RESULTS: Nine studies are eligible for inclusion and included in the meta-synthesis. Three overarching categories are identified: (1) Affirming the Significance of Memory Making. (2) Best Practices in Memory Making. (3) Barriers to Effective Memory Making. CONCLUSION: Bereaved parents highly value the act of creating lasting memories, emphasizing its profound significance. While forming these memories, it is imperative to offer family-centered care and honor diverse preferences and needs. It is essential to offer effective support to parents, offering them a range of choices. Furthermore, a more comprehensive examination of memory-making practices is required to better understand their influence on parents' recollections of their deceased child.

A new series of complex anion ionic liquids (ILs) [Emim][BF3X] (X = CH3SO3, EtSO4, HSO4, Tosylate) were synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance, elemental analysis, differential scanning calorimetry analysis, and thermogravimetry. The physicochemical properties of these ILs, such as density, viscosity, conductivity, and surface tension, were measured and correlated with thermodynamic and empirical equations in the temperature range of 293.15-358.15 K under ambient conditions, and the thermal expansion coefficient, standard molar entropy, lattice potential energy, viscosity activation energy, surface enthalpy, and surface entropy were further calculated from experimental values. According to the temperature-dependent viscosity and conductivity, [Emim][BF3X] ILs follow the Walden rule, and they are classified as "good (or super) ionic liquids".
