RESUMEN

Many self-motivated and goal-directed behaviours display highly flexible, approximately 4 hour ultradian (shorter than a day) oscillations. Despite lacking direct correspondence to physical cycles in the environment, these ultradian rhythms may be involved in optimizing functional interactions with the environment and reflect intrinsic neural dynamics. Current evidence supports a role of mesostriatal dopamine (DA) in the expression and propagation of ultradian rhythmicity, however, the biochemical processes underpinning these oscillations remain to be identified. Here, we use a mathematical model to investigate D2 autoreceptor-dependent DA self-regulation as the source of ultradian behavioural rhythms. DA concentration at the midbrain-striatal synapses is governed through a dual-negative feedback-loop structure, which naturally gives rise to rhythmicity. This model shows the propensity of striatal DA to produce an ultradian oscillation characterized by a flexible period that is highly sensitive to parameter variations. Circadian (approximately 24 hour) regulation consolidates the ultradian oscillations and alters their response to the phase-dependent, rapid-resetting effect of a transient excitatory stimulus. Within a circadian framework, the ultradian rhythm orchestrates behavioural activity and enhances responsiveness to an external stimulus. This suggests a role for the circadian-ultradian timekeeping hierarchy in governing organized behaviour and shaping daily experience through coordinating the motivation to engage in recurring, albeit not highly predictable events, such as social interactions.

Sweetpotato, Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam., is an important worldwide crop used as feed, food, and fuel. However, its polyploidy, high heterozygosity and self-incompatibility makes it difficult to study its genetics and genomics. Longest vine length (LVL), yield per plant (YPP), dry matter content (DMC), starch content (SC), soluble sugar content (SSC), and carotenoid content (CC) are some of the major agronomic traits being used to evaluate sweetpotato. However limited research has actually examined how these traits are inherited. Therefore, after selecting 212 F1 from a Xin24 × Yushu10 crossing as the mapping population, this study applied specific-locus amplified fragment sequencing (SLAF-seq), at an average sequencing depth of 26.73 × (parents) and 52.25 × (progeny), to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This approach generated an integrated genetic map of length 2441.56 cM and a mean distance of 0.51 cM between adjacent markers, encompassing 15 linkage groups (LGs). Based on the linkage map, 26 quantitative trait loci (QTLs), comprising six QTLs for LVL, six QTLs for YPP, ten QTLs for DMC, one QTL for SC, one QTL for SSC, and two QTLs for CC, were identified. Each of these QTLs explained 6.3-10% of the phenotypic variation. It is expected that the findings will be of benefit for marker-assisted breeding and gene cloning of sweetpotato.

The aim of this study was to explore the mapping relationship between the temperature and the dielectric parameters of coal and rock under variable temperatures as well as to determine the characteristics of a dielectric anomaly response. Experiments were performed using lignite, nonstick coal, gas coal, coking coal, and anthracite. The evolution of pyrolysis characteristics, microcrystal structure, and dielectric properties with changing temperature was investigated, and the changes in the dielectric parameters of coal and rock were comprehensively analyzed. As such, the cause of the dielectric anomaly with changing temperatures of coal and rock was revealed. The results show that the dielectric properties of coal at different pyrolysis temperatures are closely related to the degree of intermolecular thermal motion, the evolution of microcrystal structure, and the mechanism of polarization response. In the low-temperature stage, the thermal motion of coal molecules is weak and exhibits electronic polarization, and the dielectric parameters change slightly with temperature while being dependent on the moisture content. In the high-temperature pyrolysis stage, the intense molecular thermal motion leads to the breaking of chemical bonds and the release of volatiles; moreover, the distance between aromatic layers of coal decreases, the order of aromatic structure increases, the dipole turning polarization is the main polarization type, and the dielectric response is obvious. When the pyrolysis reaction is basically complete, the dielectric constants of the five coal samples reach the maximum. As the temperature increases continuously, the coal structure is destroyed by the weakening of the thermal motion of the coal molecules and the accumulation of thermal stress; meanwhile, the dielectric constant decreases gradually, while the dielectric loss and tangent of dielectric loss increase rapidly. At the same temperature, the dielectric constant decreases with an increase in test frequency. These results lay a foundation for the inversion of dielectric data in fire areas of coal mines.

PURPOSE: To investigate the role and mechanism of connexin 43(Cx43)in odontoblast differentiation of human dental pulp cells (hDPCs) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). METHODS: The maxillary first molar injury model of SD rats was established. The expression pattern of Cx43 in dental pulp repair after injury was detected by immunofluorescence(IF) staining. hDPCs was respectively stimulated with 0, 1, 10, 100 and 1 000 ng/mL LPS for 6 h to screen the optimal concentration, and then the expression of Cx43 was inhibited and overexpressed in hDPCs. Quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR) and Western blot(WB) were used to detect the expression of Cx43 and dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), dental matrix protein-1 (DMP-1), osterix (Osx) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) activity. Furthermore, hDPCs were treated with specific Cx43 channel inhibitors to investigate the effect of Cx43-mediated channel activity in odontoblast differentiation of hDPCs, and to explore the role and mechanism of Cx43 in regulating odontoblast differentiation of hDPCs induced by LPS. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 26.0 software package. RESULTS: IF results showed that Cx43 was mainly expressed in the odontoblast layer in healthy dental pulp tissues. At 3-24 h after tooth injury, the expression of Cx43 decreased and then gradually increased to the normal level; from 3 days to 2 weeks after injury, the expression of Cx43 tended to be down-regulated which was in the odontoblast layer and pulp proper. The expression of DSPP mRNA was significantly up-regulated in the hDPCs stimulated with 10 ng/mL LPS for 6 h(P<0.01). Inhibition of Cx43 significantly up-regulated the expression of DSPP, DMP-1 and Osx mRNA induced by LPS in hDPCs(P<0.05), while overexpression of Cx43 obviously inhibited the expression of factors related to LPS-induced odontoblast differentiation(P<0.01) and the fluorescence intensity of DSPP. 10 ng/mL LPS activated ERK signal in hDPCs, and overexpression of Cx43 significantly attenuated the activity of ERK signal induced by LPS(P<0.01). Inhibition of Cx43-mediated hemichannel (HC) promoted mRNA expression of factors related to odontoblast differentiation in hDPCs and the activity of ERK signal induced by LPS(P<0.05), while blocking Cx43-mediated gap junction channel (GJC) inhibited odontoblast differentiation. CONCLUSIONS: Cx43 participates in the regulation of dental pulp repair after injury, and its expression shows a downward trend as a whole. Inhibition of Cx43 or blocking of HC promotes LPS-induced ERK signal activity and odontoblast differentiation of hDPCs.

Unconventional 1T'-phase transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have aroused tremendous research interest due to their unique phase-dependent physicochemical properties and applications. However, due to the metastable nature of 1T'-TMDs, the controlled synthesis of 1T'-TMD monolayers (MLs) with high phase purity and stability still remains a challenge. Here we report that 4H-Au nanowires (NWs), when used as templates, can induce the quasi-epitaxial growth of high-phase-purity and stable 1T'-TMD MLs, including WS2, WSe2, MoS2 and MoSe2, via a facile and rapid wet-chemical method. The as-synthesized 4H-Au@1T'-TMD core-shell NWs can be used for ultrasensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection. For instance, the 4H-Au@1T'-WS2 NWs have achieved attomole-level SERS detections of Rhodamine 6G and a variety of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike proteins. This work provides insights into the preparation of high-phase-purity and stable 1T'-TMD MLs on metal substrates or templates, showing great potential in various promising applications.

Purpose: Results from studies of extended capecitabine after the standard adjuvant chemotherapy in early stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) were inconsistent, and only low-dose capecitabine from the SYSUCC-001 trial improved disease-free survival (DFS). Adjustment of the conventional adjuvant chemotherapy doses affect the prognosis and may affect the efficacy of subsequent treatments. This study investigated whether the survival benefit of the SYSUCC-001 trial was affected by dose adjustment of the standard adjuvant chemotherapy or not. Patients and Methods: We reviewed the adjuvant chemotherapy regimens before the extended capecitabine in the SYSUCC-001 trial. Patients were classified into "consistent" (standard acceptable dose) and "inconsistent" (doses lower than acceptable dose) dose based on the minimum acceptable dose range in the landmark clinical trials. Cox proportional hazards model was used to investigate the impact of dose on the survival outcomes. Results: All 434 patients in SYSUCC-001 trial were enrolled in this study. Most of patients administered the anthracycline-taxane regimen accounted for 88.94%. Among patients in the "inconsistent" dose, 60.8% and 47% received lower doses of anthracycline and taxane separately. In the observation group, the "inconsistent" dose of anthracycline and taxane did not affect DFS compared with the "consistent" dose. Moreover, in the capecitabine group, the "inconsistent" anthracycline dose did not affect DFS compared with the "consistent" dose. However, patients with "consistent" taxane doses benefited significantly from extended capecitabine (P=0.014). The sufficient dose of adjuvant taxane had a positive effect of extended capecitabine (hazard ratio [HR] 2.04; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02 to 4.06). Conclusion: This study found the dose reduction of adjuvant taxane might negatively impact the efficacy of capecitabine. Therefore, the reduction of anthracycline dose over paclitaxel should be given priority during conventional adjuvant chemotherapy, if patients need dose reduction and plan for extended capecitabine.

BACKGROUND: Accurate identification of genetic variants, such as point mutations and insertions/deletions (indels), is crucial for various genetic studies into epidemic tracking, population genetics, and disease diagnosis. Genetic studies into microbiomes often require processing numerous sequencing datasets, necessitating variant identifiers with high speed, accuracy, and robustness. RESULTS: We present QuickVariants, a bioinformatics tool that effectively summarizes variant information from read alignments and identifies variants. When tested on diverse bacterial sequencing data, QuickVariants demonstrates a ninefold higher median speed than bcftools, a widely used variant identifier, with higher accuracy in identifying both point mutations and indels. This accuracy extends to variant identification in virus samples, including SARS-CoV-2, particularly with significantly fewer false negative indels than bcftools. The high accuracy of QuickVariants is further demonstrated by its detection of a greater number of Omicron-specific indels (5 versus 0) and point mutations (61 versus 48-54) than bcftools in sewage metagenomes predominated by Omicron variants. Much of the reduced accuracy of bcftools was attributable to its misinterpretation of indels, often producing false negative indels and false positive point mutations at the same locations. CONCLUSIONS: We introduce QuickVariants, a fast, accurate, and robust bioinformatics tool designed for identifying genetic variants for microbial studies. PURPOSE: Preoperative anemia increases postoperative morbidity, mortality, and the risk of allogeneic transfusion. However, the incidence of preoperative anemia in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and its relationship to postoperative outcomes has not been previously reported. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive literature search through PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Sincien, and Embase from inception to July 2023 to investigate the prevalence of preoperative anemia in patients undergoing Total Joint Arthroplasty, comorbidities between anemic and non-anemicpatients before surgery, and postoperative outcomes. postoperative outcomes were analyzed. Overall prevalence was calculated using a random-effects model, and heterogeneity between studies was examined by Cochran's Q test and quantified by the I2 statistic. Subgroup analyses and meta-regression analyses were performed to identify sources of heterogeneity. Publication bias was assessed by funnel plots and validated by Egger's test. RESULTS: A total of 21 studies with 369,101 samples were included, all of which were retrospective cohort studies. 3 studies were of high quality and 18 studies were of moderate quality. The results showed that the prevalence of preoperative anemia was 22% in patients awaiting arthroplasty; subgroup analyses revealed that the prevalence of preoperative anemia was highest in patients awaiting revision of total knee arthroplasty; the highest prevalence of preoperative anemia was found in the Americas; preoperative anemia was more prevalent in the female than in the male population; and preoperative anemia with a history of preoperative anemia was more common in the female than in the male population. patients with a history of preoperative anemia; patients with joint replacement who had a history of preoperative anemia had an increased risk of infection, postoperative blood transfusion rate, postoperative blood transfusion, Deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs, days in hospital, readmission within three months, and mortality compared with patients who did not have preoperative anemia. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of preoperative anemia in patients awaiting total joint arthroplasty is 22%, and is higher in TKA and female patients undergoing revision, while preoperative anemia is detrimental to the patient's postoperative recovery and will increase the risk of postoperative complications, transfusion rates, days in the hospital, readmission rates, and mortality.

Hereditary protein C deficiency is a chromosomal genetic disease caused by mutations in the protein C gene,which can lead to venous thrombosis and is mostly related to mutations in exons 4-9 and intron 8.Fatal pulmonary embolism caused by mutations in the protein C gene is rare,and the treatment faces great challenges.This article reports a case of fatal pulmonary embolism caused by a frameshift mutation in exon 8 of the protein C gene and summarizes the treatment experience of combining extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (for respiratory and circulatory support) with interventional thrombectomy,providing a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

Crystal phase, a critical structural characteristic beyond the morphology, size, dimension, facet, etc., determines the physicochemical properties of nanomaterials. As a group of layered nanomaterials with polymorphs, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have attracted intensive research attention due to their phase-dependent properties. Therefore, great efforts have been devoted to the phase engineering of TMDs to synthesize TMDs with controlled phases, especially unconventional/metastable phases, for various applications in electronics, optoelectronics, catalysis, biomedicine, energy storage and conversion, and ferroelectrics. Considering the significant progress in the synthesis and applications of TMDs, we believe that a comprehensive review on the phase engineering of TMDs is critical to promote their fundamental studies and practical applications. This Review aims to provide a comprehensive introduction and discussion on the crystal structures, synthetic strategies, and phase-dependent properties and applications of TMDs. Finally, our perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in phase engineering of TMDs will also be discussed.

Increasing levels of industrialization have been associated with changes in gut microbiome structure and loss of features thought to be crucial for maintaining gut ecological balance. The stability of gut microbial communities over time within individuals seems to be largely affected by these changes but has been overlooked among transitioning populations from low- to middle-income countries. Here, we used metagenomic sequencing to characterize the temporal dynamics in gut microbiomes of 24 individuals living an urban non-industrialized lifestyle in the Brazilian Amazon. We further contextualized our data with 165 matching longitudinal samples from an urban industrialized and a rural non-industrialized population. We show that gut microbiome composition and diversity have greater variability over time among non-industrialized individuals when compared to industrialized counterparts and that taxa may present diverse temporal dynamics across human populations. Enterotype classifications show that community types are generally stable over time despite shifts in microbiome structure. Furthermore, by tracking genomes over time, we show that levels of bacterial population replacements are more frequent among Amazonian individuals and that non-synonymous variants accumulate in genes associated with degradation of host dietary polysaccharides. Taken together, our results suggest that the stability of gut microbiomes is influenced by levels of industrialization and that tracking microbial population dynamics is important to understand how the microbiome will adapt to these transitions.IMPORTANCEThe transition from a rural or non-industrialized lifestyle to urbanization and industrialization has been linked to changes in the structure and function of the human gut microbiome. Understanding how the gut microbiomes changes over time is crucial to define healthy states and to grasp how the gut microbiome interacts with the host environment. Here, we investigate the temporal dynamics of gut microbiomes from an urban and non-industrialized population in the Amazon, as well as metagenomic data sets from urban United States and rural Tanzania. We showed that healthy non-industrialized microbiomes experience greater compositional shifts over time compared to industrialized individuals. Furthermore, bacterial strain populations are more frequently replaced in non-industrialized microbiomes, and most non-synonymous mutations accumulate in genes associated with the degradation of host dietary components. This indicates that microbiome stability is affected by transitions to industrialization, and that strain tracking can elucidate the ecological dynamics behind such transitions.

Coix seed polysaccharides had received increasing attention due to their diverse biological activities. In this study, a homogeneous polysaccharide (CSPW) was extracted and purified from coix seed. Furthermore, the saliva-gastrointestinal digestion and fecal fermentation behavior of CSPW were simulated in vitro. The results showed that CSPW was mainly composed of glucose. It cannot be degraded by the simulated salivary and intestinal digestive system, but can be degraded by the simulated gastric digestive system. After fermentation for 24 h, CSPW promoted the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), with acetic acid, propionic acid and n-butyric acid being the main metabolites. In addition, CSPW could significantly regulate the composition and microbial diversity of gut microbiota by increasing the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria, such as Limosilicactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Collinsella. Finally, further analysis of functional prediction revealed that amino acid metabolism, nucleotide metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were the most important pathways for CSPW to promote health. In summary, our findings suggested that CSPW could potentially be used as a good source of prebiotics because it can be used by gut microbiota to produce SCFAs and regulate the gut microbiota.

High-speed imaging of dynamic scenes is a challenging and important task in many applications. However, conventional imaging methods based on charge coupled devices or complementary metal oxide semiconductors have limitations in temporal resolution and photon sensitivity. To address this problem, we propose a novel high-speed imaging scheme that combines single-pixel imaging with single photon detection and time-correlated single photon counting. Our scheme can achieve high-speed imaging with 64 ps resolution by repeating the motion scenes and using binary outputs from single photon detectors. We demonstrate our scheme by reconstructing the switching process of a digital micro-mirror device and a liquid crystal spatial light modulator. Our scheme can be further improved to 1 ps resolution by using a more accurate time-correlated single photon counting system. Moreover, our scheme can adapt to different speed scenes by adjusting the temporal resolution and reducing the sampling time. Our high temporal resolution imaging scheme further expands the application areas of single-pixel imaging and provides solutions for scenes requiring single photon detection and higher temporal resolution, such as reproducible chemical reaction processes imaging, cellular or sub-cellular bio imaging, single-molecule imaging of rotary motors, high-speed equipment inspection, and other periodic high-speed scenes imaging.

In recent years, the problems associated with continuous cropping (CC) that cause soil degradation have become increasingly serious. As a key soil quality property, dissolved organic matter (DOM) affects the circulation of carbon and nutrients and the composition of bacterial communities in soil. However, research on the changes in the molecular composition of DOM after CC is limited. In this study, the soil chemical properties, DOM chemical diversity, bacterial community structure, and their interactions are explored in the soil samples from different CC years (CC1Y, CC3Y, CC5Y, and CC7Y) of tobacco. With increasing CC year of tobacco, most of the soil chemical properties, such as total carbon, total nitrogen and organic matter, decreased significantly, while dissolved organic carbon first decreased and then increased. Likewise, the trends of DOM composition differed with changing duration of CC, such as the tannin compounds decreased from 18.13 to 13.95%, aliphatic/proteins increased from 2.73 to 8.85%. After 7 years of CC, the soil preferentially produced compounds with either high H/C ratios (H/C > 1.5), including carbohydrates, lipids, and aliphatic/proteins, or low O/C ratios (O/C < 0.1), such as unsaturated hydrocarbons. Furthermore, core microorganisms, including Nocardioides, wb1-P19, Aquabacterium, Methylobacter, and Thiobacillus, were identified. Network analysis further indicated that in response to CC, Methylobacter and Thiobacillus were correlated with the microbial degradation and transformation of DOM. These findings will improve our understanding of the interactions between microbial community and DOM in continuous cropping soil.

RESUMEN

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a serious respiratory condition characterized by a damaged pulmonary endothelial barrier that causes protein-rich lung edema, an influx of proinflammatory cells, and treatment-resistant hypoxemia. Damage to pulmonary endothelial cells and inflammation are pivotal in ARDS development with a key role played by endothelial cell pyroptosis. Disulfiram (DSF), a drug that has long been used to treat alcohol addiction, has recently been identified as a potent inhibitor of gasdermin D (GSDMD)-induced pore formation and can thus prevent pyroptosis and inflammatory cytokine release. These findings indicate that DSF is a promising treatment for inflammatory disorders. However, addressing the challenge posed by its intrinsic physicochemical properties, which hinder intravenous administration, and effective delivery to pulmonary vascular endothelial cells are crucial. Herein, we used biocompatible liposomes incorporating a lung endothelial cell-targeted peptide (CGSPGWVRC) to produce DSF-loaded nanoparticles (DTP-LET@DSF NPs) for targeted delivery and reactive oxygen species-responsive release facilitated by the inclusion of thioketal (TK) within the liposomal structure. After intravenous administration, DTP-LET@DSF NPs exhibited excellent cytocompatibility and minor systemic toxicity, effectively inhibited pyroptosis, mitigated lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ARDS, and prevented cytokine storms resulting from excessive immune reactions in ARDS mice. This study presents a straightforward nanoplatform for ARDS treatment that potentially paves the way for the clinical use of this nanomedicine.

BACKGROUND: Intracranial aneurysm (IA) is a common cerebrovascular disease and the leading cause of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage. Recent evidence suggests that gut microbiota is involved in the pathophysiological process of IA through the gut-brain axis. However, the role of gut inflammation in the development of IA has yet to be clarified. Our study aimed to investigate whether fecal calprotectin (FC) level, a sensitive marker of gut inflammation, is correlated with the development of IA and the prognosis of patients with ruptured IA (RIA). METHODS: 182 patients were collected from January 2022 to January 2023, including 151 patients with IA and 31 healthy individuals. 151 IA patients included 109 patients with unruptured IA (UIA) and 42 patients with RIA. The FC level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Other detailed information was obtained from an electronic medical record system. RESULTS: Compared with healthy controls, the FC levels in patients with IA were increased (P < 0.0001). Patients with RIA had significantly higher FC levels than UIA patients (P < 0.0001). Moreover, the FC level in RIA patients with unfavorable outcomes was higher than in RIA patients with favorable outcomes. Logistic regression analysis showed that the elevated FC level was an independent risk factor for a 3-month poor prognosis in patients with RIA (OR=1.005, 95% CI = 1.000 -1.009, P = 0.044). CONCLUSION: Fecal calprotectin level is significantly elevated in IA patients, especially those with RIA. FC is a novel biomarker of 3-month poor outcomes in RIA patients.

The twin boundary, a common lattice plane of mirror-symmetric crystals, may have high reactivity due to special atomic coordination. However, twinning platinum and iridium nanocatalysts are grand challenges due to the high stacking fault energies that are nearly 1 order of magnitude larger than those of easy-twinning gold and silver. Here, we demonstrate that Turing structuring, realized by selective etching of superthin metal film, provides 14.3 and 18.9 times increases in twin-boundary densities for platinum and iridium nanonets, comparable to the highly twinned silver nanocatalysts. The Turing configurations with abundant low-coordination atoms contribute to the formation of nanotwins and create a large active surface area. Theoretical calculations reveal that the specific atom arrangement on the twin boundary changes the electronic structure and reduces the energy barrier of water dissociation. The optimal Turing-type platinum nanonets demonstrated excellent hydrogen-evolution-reaction performance with a 25.6 mV overpotential at 10.0 mA·cm-2 and a 14.8-fold increase in mass activity. And the bifunctional Turing iridium catalysts integrated in the water electrolyzer had a mass activity 23.0 times that of commercial iridium catalysts. This work opens a new avenue for nanocrystal twinning as a facile paradigm for designing high-performance nanocatalysts.

The past decade has witnessed substantial progress in understanding nontrivial band topology and discovering exotic topological materials in condensed-matter physics. Recently, topological physics has been further extended to the chemistry discipline, leading to the emergence of topological catalysis. In principle, the topological effect is detectable in catalytic reactions, but no conclusive evidence has been reported yet. Herein, by precisely manipulating the topological surface state (TSS) of Bi2Se3 nanosheets through thickness control and the application of a magnetic field, we provide direct experimental evidence to illustrate topological catalysis for CO2 electroreduction. With and without the cooperation of TSS, CO2 is mainly reduced into liquid fuels (HCOOH and H2C2O4) and CO, exhibiting high (up to 90% at -1.1 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode) and low Faradaic efficiency (FE), respectively. Theoretically, the product and FE difference can be attributed to the TSS-regulated adsorption of key intermediates and the reduced barrier of the potential-determining step. Our work demonstrates the inherent correlation between band topology and electrocatalysis, paving a new avenue for designing high-performance catalysts.

BACKGROUNDS: Breast cancer screening plays an important role in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the screening results and explore the influencing factors of breast cancer detection rate in Guangdong. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 2,024,960 women aged 35-64 in Guangdong Province during 2017-2021. The data about breast cancer screening information were collected from the Guangdong maternal and child health information system. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to explain demographic characteristics and results of breast cancer screening. The generalized linear regression model was applied to analyze the related influencing factors of breast cancer detection rate. RESULTS: The estimated detection rate of breast cancer in Guangdong Province is 70.32/105, with an early diagnosis rate of 82.06%. After adjusting covariates, those women with older age (45-55 [OR (95% CI) 2.174 (1.872, 2.526)], 55-65 [OR (95% CI) 2.162 (1.760, 2.657)]), education for high school ([OR (95% CI) 1.491 (1.254, 1.773)]) and older age at first birth ([OR (95% CI) 1.632 (1.445, 1.844)]) were more likely to have higher detection rate of breast cancer. No history of surgery or biopsy ([OR (95% CI) 0.527 (0.387, 0.718)]), no history of breast cancer check ([OR (95% CI) 0.873 (0.774, 0.985)]) and no family history of breast cancer ([OR (95% CI) 0.255 (0.151, 0.432)]) women were more likely to screen negative for breast cancer (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The detection rate of breast cancer in screening showed an increasing trend year by year in Guangdong Province. Older age, education for high school and older age at first birth were risk factors for breast cancer detection rate, while no surgery or biopsy history, no family history of breast cancer and no history of breast cancer check were protective factors.
