RESUMEN

We design a broadband free space 2×4 90° optical hybrid over a spectral window of 1000-1200 nm and 1470-1650 nm and verify the feasibility of the scheme experimentally. The hybrid consists of three broadband polarization beam splitters, an achromatic λ/4 wave plate, and three achromatic λ/2 wave plates. The fabricated hybrid exhibits a good quadrature phase response with an interchannel imbalance of 0.93-1.07 and a low phase deviation of less than 0.2° under the typical communication wavelengths of 1064 nm and C-band. The experimental results of the heterodyne method show that the proposed hybrid can effectively solve the wavelength incompatibility problem in satellite laser communication and realize interconnection at different wavelengths. The designed hybrid (without coupling) has a measured insertion loss of no more than 7.34 dB at 1064 nm and C-band. A high-speed transmission experiment with BPSK format has been conducted to verify the performance of the assembled device.

RESUMEN

We demonstrate two all-fiber low-frequency shift schemes based on the acousto-optic interaction in a few-mode fiber (FMF). Two acoustically induced fiber gratings (AIFGs) are cascaded in reverse to achieve an efficient cycle conversion between LP11 and LP01 core modes in the FMF while obtaining a frequency shift of 1.8 MHz. In addition, a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) is employed to replace the AIFG, which achieves a lower frequency shift of 0.9 MHz, and its tunable wavelength range exceeds 100 nm. Both schemes show the characteristics of an upward frequency shift. Moreover, we also present a heterodyne detection system based on the above frequency shift schemes, which is verified in response to micro-vibration signals ranging from tens to hundreds of kilohertz, as well as speech signals in a lower frequency range. The experimental results show that these all-fiber frequency shift schemes have potential applications, such as in fiber optic hydrophones, laser speech detection, and fiber optic sensors.

RESUMEN

In this study, we propose a novel multi-dimensional and large-sized optical phased array theory for space laser communication that addresses the theoretical limitations of the conventional optical phased array. We theoretically analyzed the principle of this phased array technology. The results of simulation and laboratory experiment clearly showed it can realize the large scanning angle and high optical gain required for communication. The novel optical phased array theory is of great significance to the revolution of miniaturization and networking in the field of space laser communication.

RESUMEN

We experimentally investigate two schemes of Brillouin random fiber laser (RFL) by using high-order-mode (HOM) pump in a few-mode fiber (FMF). The core-mode conversion between LP01 and LP11 modes is obtained in the FMF by cascading long period fiber gratings (LPFG) working at the same wavelength region. Different transversal modes of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) can be implemented based on broadband long period fiber gratings (LPFG) and acoustically induced fiber gratings (AIFG). The RFL base on two broadband LPFGs can obtain high purity LP11 mode operating in the range of 1543 nm to 1565 nm. Moreover, the output mode can be dynamically switched between LP01 mode, LP11a mode and LP11b mode by modulating frequency shift keying (FSK) signal of the AIFG. This work has potential application prospects in the fields of mode division multiplexing systems, speckle-free imaging, free-space optical communication, laser material processing.

RESUMEN

We experimentally demonstrated that the transversal vortex modes of an all-fiber erbium-doped Brillouin laser can be dynamically switched by using the high-order mode (HOM) of Brillouin pump (BP), which is used to achieve the oscillation of HOM inside the ring cavity. Core-mode conversion in a few-mode fiber (FMF) between the fundamental mode and HOM is obtained by cascading an acoustically induced fiber grating (AIFG) and a mode selection coupler (MSC) operating at the same wavelength region. Through frequency shift keying (FSK) modulation of the AIFG signal, the output transversal modes can be switched dynamically between LP01 and vortex modes, and the measured purities of output HOM are more than 82%. Moreover, the output Brillouin wavelength can also be tuned via altering the input wavelength of BP and the resonant response of AIFG. We have achieved HOM Brillouin-shifted laser output within the wavelength band from 1545-1560 nm. The output linewidth of the proposed Brillouin laser is less than 4 kHz.

RESUMEN

Based on global particle-swarm optimization algorithm and density functional theory methods, we predicted an alloyed Si2Ge compond with body centered tetragonal type VII clathrate (space group I4/mmm) built by a truncated octahedron fromed by six quadrangles and eight hexagons ([4668]). Si2Ge clathrate is 0.06 eV/atom lower than VII Si clathrate and thermally stable up to 1000 K. It has an indirect band gap of 0.23 eV, high p-doping Seebeck coefficient and n-doping electrical conductivity. It owns a low lattice thermal conductivity of 0.28 W/mK at 300 K because of its weak bonding and strong anharmonic interaction of longitudinal acoustic and low-lying optical phonons. The moderate electronic transport properties together with low lattice thermal conductivity results in a high optimal thermoeletric performance value of 2.54 (1.49) at 800 (1000) K in n (p)-doped Si2Ge.
