This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical efficacy of Uncut Roux-en-Y and Billroth II anastomoses in gastrointestinal reconstruction following laparoscopic D2 radical gastrectomy for distal gastric cancer. The primary objective was to compare the postoperative outcomes, including quality of life and complication rates, between the 2 surgical techniques. One hundred patients diagnosed with distal gastric cancer were enrolled between June 2020 and May 2023. Patients underwent laparoscopic D2 gastrectomy and were categorized into either the Uncut Roux-en-Y or Billroth II anastomosis groups based on the technique used for gastrointestinal reconstruction. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were strictly followed. Surgical parameters, quality of life assessed using the Visick grading index, and postoperative complications were also evaluated. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 27.0. The groups were comparable in terms of demographic and baseline clinical parameters. The Uncut Roux-en-Y group had a significantly longer duration of surgery (Pâ <â .001). However, there were no statistically significant differences in other surgical parameters. According to the Visick grading index, patients in the Uncut Roux-en-Y group reported a significantly better quality of life than those in the Billroth II group (Pâ <â .05). Additionally, Uncut Roux-en-Y was associated with a significantly lower incidence of dumping syndrome and bile reflux (Pâ <â .05). Although Uncut Roux-en-Y anastomosis requires longer surgical time, it offers significant advantages in terms of postoperative quality of life and reduced rates of dumping syndrome and bile reflux. Our findings suggest that Uncut Roux-en-Y may be a superior option for gastrointestinal reconstruction after laparoscopic D2 gastrectomy for distal gastric cancer.

OBJECTIVES: This meta-analysis aims to explore the impact of acupressure on nausea and vomiting for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). BACKGROUND: Acupressure may have some potential in managing nausea and vomiting after LC. PATIENTS AND METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases were systematically searched, and we included randomized controlled trials assessing the effect of acupressure on nausea and vomiting for LC. RESULTS: Six randomized controlled trials were finally included in the meta-analysis. Overall, compared with control intervention for LC, acupressure was associated with significantly reduced incidence of nausea at 2 hours [odds ratio (OR) = 0.37; 95% CI = 0.21-0.67; P = 0.001] and nausea at 6 hours (OR = 0.38; 95% CI = 0.22-0.66; P = 0.0006; Fig. 4), and decreased need of rescue antiemetic (OR = 0.41; 95% CI = 0.20-0.85; P = 0.02; Fig. 8), but demonstrated no obvious impact on vomiting at 2 hours (OR = 0.76; 95% CI = 0.28-2.10; P = 0.60), vomiting at 6 hours (OR = 0.49, 95% CI = 0.20-1.20; P = 0.12), nausea at 24 hours (OR = 0.71; 95% CI = 0.37-1.35; P = 0.30), or vomiting at 24 hours (OR = 0.81; 95% CI = 0.28-2.35; P = 0.69). CONCLUSIONS: Acupressure is effective in controlling nausea and decreasing rescue antiemetics for LC.

The increased worldwide mortality rate due to liver cancer may be attributed to the aggressive nature of the disease. Signal transduction through G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) can affect a number of aspects of cancer biology, including invasion, migration and vascular remodelling. JTC-801, a novel GPCR antagonist, has demonstrated promising anticancer effects in adenocarcinoma and osteosarcoma cells. In the present study, the effect of JTC-801 on the proliferation and migration of hepatoblastoma Hep G2 cells was investigated. The Cell Counting Kit-8 assay revealed that JTC-801 markedly suppressed the growth of the Hep G2 cells. Additionally, JTC-801 significantly inhibited cell invasion and migration in a Transwell assay. Furthermore, the expression of anti-apoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma 2 decreased and the expression of the pro-apoptotic proteins active caspase-3 and apoptosis regulator BAX increased in the Hep G2 cells following JTC-801 treatment. Additionally, JTC-801 suppressed the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signalling pathway in the Hep G2 cells. Therefore, the present study revealed that JTC-801 can induce the apoptosis of Hep G2 cells by regulating the PI3K/AKT signalling pathway, which suggests that JTC-801 may be a potential novel drug target for clinical liver cancer treatment.
