RESUMEN

Three Gram-positive, obligately anaerobic bacterial strains, namely CSJ-1T, CSJ-3T, and CSJ-4T, were isolated from faeces of healthy persons. They were characterized through a combination of whole-genome sequencing, phenotypic traits, and metabolomic analysis. The genome sizes of CSJ-1T, CSJ-4T, and CSJ-3T were 3.3, 3.8, and 6.1 Mbp, with DNA G+C contents of 47.2, 48.3, and 48.8 mol%, respectively. Strain CSJ-3T was identified as representing a novel species, Diplocloster hominis (type strain CSJ-3T=CGMCC 1.18033T=JCM 36512T) of the genus Diplocloster. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity and whole genome average nucleotide identity (gANI) of CSJ-4T to its closest related species, Diplocloster modestus ASD 4241T, were 98.3 and 91.4 %, respectively. Comparative analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed 91.6 % similarity between CSJ-1T and its closest phylogenetic neighbour, Catenibacillus scindens DSM 106146T, and 93.3 % similarity between CSJ-4T and its closest relative strain, Clostridium fessum SNUG30386T. Based on the polyphasic taxonomic results, we proposed two novel genera and three novel species. Strain CSJ-1T was identified as representing a novel species of novel genus, Anaerolentibacter hominis gen. nov. sp. nov. (type strain CSJ-1T=CGMCC 1.18046T=JCM 36511T) of the family Lachnospiraceae, and strain CSJ-4T was identified as representing a novel species of novel genus Pilosibacter fragilis gen. nov. sp. nov. (type strain CSJ-4T=CGMCC 1.18026T= JCM 36513T) of the family Clostridiaceae.

BACKGROUND: Nursing experts regularly visited the community to deliver safety education on the prevention of unintentional injuries in children to the parents of children aged 0-6 years and to pregnant women in a maternity school. This was undertaken to explore the effects of the measure on preventing unintentional injuries in children in Chizhou, China. METHODS: Using the convenience sampling method, the guardians(it means mother in this study)of children were investigated. The nursing experts visited communities in which the number of nursing experts is declining. Data on unintentional injuries in children in the previous year were collected retrospectively. RESULTS: After the nursing experts delivered safety education to the community, the scores of the questionnaire on unintentional injury prevention knowledge completed by children's guardians increased significantly (p < 0.01). Among the children whose guardians completed the questionnaire, there were 157 cases of unintentional injury in 2020 and 103 cases in 2021 (p < 0.05). The types of unintentional injuries included scratches, falls, sharp object injuries, swallowing of foreign bodies, burns and traffic accidents; there was no statistical difference (p > 0.05). However, there were significant differences in terms of gender ratio and location (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: In conjunction with the maternity school for pregnant women and the vaccination programme, nursing experts delivered safety education regarding unintentional injuries in children; this may have promoted safety and protection awareness in the children's guardians and reduced unintentional injuries.

BACKGROUND: Along with the rapid growth of the global aging society, the mobile and health digital market has expanded greatly. Countless mobile medical apps (mmApps) have sprung up in the internet market, aiming to help patients with chronic diseases achieve medication safety. OBJECTIVE: Based on the medication safety action plans proposed by the World Health Organization, we aimed to explore the effectiveness of mmApps in ensuring the medication safety of patients with chronic diseases, including whether mmApps can improve the willingness to report adverse drug events (ADEs), improve patients' medication adherence, and reduce medication errors. We hoped to verify our hypothesis through a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS: The meta-analysis was performed in strict accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and included literature searched from 7 databases-PubMed, Web Of Science, Embase, CINAHL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and SinoMed. The publication time was limited to the time of database establishment to April 30, 2022. Studies were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data extracted included authors, years of publication, countries or regions, participants' characteristics, intervention groups, and control groups, among others. Our quality assessment followed the guidelines of the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions, Version 6.3. RevMan 5.2 software (Cochrane Collaboration) was used to analyze the statistical data, and a sensitivity analysis was performed to assess data stability. The degree of stability was calculated by using a different statistical method and excluding large-sample studies from the analysis. RESULTS: We included 8 studies from 5 countries (China, the United States, France, Canada, and Spain) that were published from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2021. The total number of participants was 1355, and we analyzed the characteristics of included studies, each app's features, the risk of bias, and quality. The results showed that mmApps could increase ADE reporting willingness (relative risk [RR] 2.59, 95% CI 1.26-5.30; P=.009) and significantly improve medication adherence (RR 1.17, 95% CI 1.04-1.31; P=.007), but they had little effect on reducing medication errors (RR 1.54, 95% CI 0.33-7.29; P=.58). CONCLUSIONS: We analyzed the following three merits of mmApps, with regard to facilitating the willingness to report ADEs: mmApps facilitate more communication between patients and physicians, patients attach more importance to ADE reporting, and the processing of results is transparent. The use of mmApps improved medication adherence among patients with chronic diseases by conveying medical solutions, providing educational support, tracking medications, and allowing for remote consultations. Finally, we found 3 potential reasons for why our medication error results differed from those of other studies. In recent years, the research of phenylethynylcopper (PhC2Cu) in photocatalysis has attracted immense attention. However, its synthesis requires two steps extending over 9 days. In this paper, the successful preparation of PhC2Cu nanowires is reported using a highly rapid and facile one-step method directly using copper acetate and phenylacetylene as raw materials and ascorbic acid as reducing agent. The kinetic studies indicated that the synthetic reaction follows a pseudo-second-order equation through electrical conductivity. Comparative studies of the crystal structures, morphologies, and optical properties of PhC2Cu prepared by the traditional two-step and the current one-step methods were conducted using XRD, SEM, UV-Vis Drs, FT-IR, Raman spectra, and photocurrent. Meanwhile, the PhC2Cu nanowires exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity to degrade methyl violet (MV) and glyphosate. This facile and rapid method dramatically improves the preparation efficiency of PhC2Cu, and the obtained PhC2Cu also shows higher photocatalytic activity. This remarkable progress enables the possibility of large-scale and efficient preparation of PhC2Cu with high photocatalytic activity, indicating their excellent application prospect in photocatalysis.

Photocatalytic degradation is one of the most promising emerging technologies for environmental pollution control. However, the preparation of efficient, low-cost photocatalysts still faces many challenges. TiO2 is a widely available and inexpensive photocatalyst material, but improving its catalytic degradation performance has posed a significant challenge due to its shortcomings, such as the easy recombination of its photogenerated electron-hole pairs and its difficulty in absorbing visible light. The construction of homogeneous heterojunctions is an effective means to enhance the photocatalytic performances of photocatalysts. In this study, a TiO2(B)/TiO2(A) homogeneous heterojunction composite photocatalyst (with B and A denoting bronze and anatase phases, respectively) was successfully constructed in situ. Although the construction of homogeneous heterojunctions did not improve the light absorption performance of the material, its photocatalytic degradation performance was substantially enhanced. This was due to the suppression of the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and the enhancement of the carrier mobility. The photocatalytic ability of the TiO2(B)/TiO2(A) homogeneous heterojunction composite photocatalyst was up to three times higher than that of raw TiO2 (pure anatase TiO2).

Sepsis is an acute inflammatory reaction and a cause of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). In the present study, we explored the roles and underlying mechanism of the lncRNA Nuclear enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) in ARDS. The expression levels of genes, proteins and pro-inflammatory cytokines in patients with ARDS, LPS-stimulated cells and septic mouse models were quantified using qPCR, western blotting and ELISA assays, respectively. The molecular targeting relationship was validated by conducting a dual-luciferase reporter assay. Cell proliferation was assessed using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. The cell cycle phase was determined by flow cytometry assay. The expression levels of NEAT1 and pro-inflammatory cytokines were higher in patients with ARDS and septic models than in controls. Knockdown of NEAT1 significantly increased cell proliferation and cycle progression and prolonged mouse survival in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, miR-27a was identified as a downstream target of NEAT1 and directly inhibited PTEN expression. Further rescue experiments revealed that inhibition of miR-27a impeded the promoting effects of NEAT1 silence on cell proliferation and cycle progression, whereas inhibition of PTEN markedly weakened the inhibitory effects of NEAT1 overexpression on cell proliferation and cycle progression. Altogether, our study revealed that NEAT1 plays a promoting role in the progression of ARDS via the NEAT1/miR-27a/PTEN regulatory network, providing new insight into the pathologic mechanism behind ARDS.

BACKGROUND: With the aging world population, the incidence of falls has intensified and fall-related hospitalization costs are increasing. Falls are one type of event studied in the health economics of patient safety, and many developed countries have conducted such research on fall-related hospitalization costs. However, China, a developing country, still lacks large-scale studies in this area. AIM: To investigate the factors related to the hospitalization costs of fall-related injuries in elderly inpatients and establish factor-based, cost-related groupings. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted. Patient information and cost data for elderly inpatients (age ≥ 60 years, n = 3362) who were hospitalized between 2016 and 2019 due to falls was collected from the medical record systems of two grade-A tertiary hospitals in China. Quantile regression (QR) analysis was used to identify the factors related to fall-related hospitalization costs. A decision tree model based on the chi-squared automatic interaction detector algorithm for hospitalization cost grouping was built by setting the factors in the regression results as separation nodes. RESULTS: The total hospitalization cost of fall-related injuries in the included elderly patients was 180479203.03 RMB, and the reimbursement rate of medical benefit funds was 51.0% (92039709.52 RMB/180479203.03 RMB). The medical material costs were the highest component of the total hospitalization cost, followed (in order) by drug costs, test costs, treatment costs, integrated medical service costs and blood transfusion costs The QR results showed that patient age, gender, length of hospital stay, payment method, wound position, wound type, operation times and operation type significantly influenced the inpatient cost (P < 0.05). The cost grouping model was established based on the QR results, and age, length of stay, operation type, wound position and wound type were the most important influencing factors in the model. Furthermore, the cost of each combination varied significantly. CONCLUSION: Our grouping model of hospitalization costs clearly reflected the key factors affecting hospitalization costs and can be used to strengthen the reasonable control of these costs.

AIMS: To assess the prevalence and associated factors of psychological distress among patients with chronic hepatitis B receiving oral antiviral therapy and explore the association between psychological distress and self-management behaviours among this population. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study. METHODS: A convenience sample of 188 patients with chronic hepatitis B receiving oral antiviral therapy was recruited from March-October 2018 to complete a self-report questionnaire including the Chinese version of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 and Chronic Hepatitis B Self-Management Scale. Logistic regression analysis and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were used to determine the factors associated with psychological distress and the association between psychological distress and self-management behaviours respectively. RESULTS: The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms were 33.0%, 38.3% and 17.6% respectively. Depression was associated with older age, female gender, lower education level and longer treatment duration; anxiety was associated with female gender and longer treatment duration; and stress was associated with age of 31-40 years, female gender and unmarried status. There were significant associations between depression and anxiety symptoms and self-management behaviours. CONCLUSION: Psychological distress was prevalent among patients with chronic hepatitis B receiving oral antiviral therapy and had a negative impact on self-management. Interventions targeting depression and anxiety symptoms may be beneficial to improve self-management behaviours for this population. IMPACT: This study explored the factors associated with psychological distress in patients with chronic hepatitis B receiving oral antiviral therapy. The findings showed psychological distress was more common in patients who were with older age, female, less educated, unmarried and receiving longer duration of treatment and psychological distress was significantly associated with self-management behaviours. Nurses and other healthcare providers should provide interventions to reduce the risk of psychological distress and improve self-management behaviours for this population.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Anterior controllable antedisplacement and fusion (ACAF) is a novel surgical technique for the treatment of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). Its prognostic factors for decompression have not been well studied. Additionally, no detailed radiological standard has been set for hoisting the vertebrae-OPLL complex (VOC) in ACAF. PURPOSE: To identify the possible prognostic factors for decompression outcomes after ACAF for cervical OPLL, to determine the critical value of radiological parameters for predicting good outcomes, and to establish a radiological standard for hoisting the VOC in ACAF. STUDY DESIGN: This was a retrospective multicenter study. PATIENT SAMPLE: A total of 121 consecutive patients with OPLL who underwent ACAF at a point between January 2017 and June 2018 at any one of seven facilities and were monitored for at least 1 year afterward were enrolled in a multicenter study. OUTCOME MEASURES: Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) scores, recovery rate (RR) of neurologic function, and surgical complications were used to determine the effectiveness of ACAF. METHODS: Patients were divided into two groups according to their RR for neurologic function. Patients with an RR of ≥50% and an RR of <50% were designated as having good and poor decompression outcomes, respectively. The relationship between various possible prognostic factors and decompression outcomes was assessed by univariate and multivariate analysis. The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to determine the optimal cutoff value of the radiological parameters for prediction of good decompression outcomes. Next, the patients were redivided into three groups according to the cutoff value of the selected radiological parameter (postoperative anteroposterior canal diameter [APD] ratio). Patients with postoperative APD ratios of ≤80.7%, 80.7%-100%, and ≥100% were defined as members of the incomplete, optimal, and excessive antedisplacement groups, respectively. Differences in decompression outcomes among the three groups were compared to verify the reliability of the postoperative APD ratio and assess the necessity of excessive antedisplacement. RESULTS: Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that patients' age at surgery (odds ratio [OR]=1.18; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.08-1.29; p<.01) and postoperative APD ratio (OR=0.83; 95% CI=0.77-0.90; p<.01) were independently associated with decompression outcomes. The optimal cutoff point of the postoperative APD ratio was calculated at 80.7%, with 86.2% sensitivity and 73.5% specificity. There were no significant differences in the postoperative JOA scores and RRs between the excessive antedisplacement group and optimal antedisplacement group (p>.05). However, a lower incidence of cerebrospinal fluid leakage and screw slippage was observed in the optimal antedisplacement group (p<.05). CONCLUSIONS: Patients' age at surgery and their postoperative APD ratio are the two prognostic factors of decompression outcomes after ACAF. The postoperative APD ratio is also the most accurate radiological parameter for predicting good outcomes. Our findings suggest that it is essential for neurologic recovery to restore the spinal canal to more than 80.7% of its original size (postoperative APD ratio >80.7%), and restoration to less than its original size (postoperative APD ratio <100%) will help reduce the incidence of surgical complications. This may serve as a valuable reference for establishment of a radiological standard for hoisting the VOC in ACAF.

Improving health of Chinese people has become national strategy according to the Healthy China 2030. Patient experience evaluation examines health care service from perspective of patients; it is important for improving health care quality. Applying artificial intelligence (AI) in patient experience is an innovative approach to assist continuous improvement of care quality of patient service. A nursing quality platform based on patient experience data which is empowered by AI technologies has been established in China for the purpose of surveillance and analysis of the quality of patient care. It contains data from nearly 1300 healthcare facilities, based on which portraits of nursing service qualities can be drawn. The patient experience big data platform has shown potentials for healthcare facilities to improve patient care quality. More efforts are needed to achieve the goal of enhancing people's sense of health gain.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent disease, especially in the elderly. The present study examined the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13), NF-κBp65 and interleukin (IL)-lß in the synovial tissues of KOA patients and the role of MMP-13 and the NF-κBp65 signalling pathway in KOA pathogenesis. A total of 100 KOA patients were enrolled in our hospital from December 2015 to December 2017 and were classified into either a mild KOA group (Outerbridge grade 1 and 2) or a severe KOA group (Outerbridge grade 3 and 4). Non-OA patients were included as controls. Synovial tissues from patients in both groups were collected for detection of the mRNA and protein expression of MMP-13, NF-κBp65 and IL-lß. Synovial tissue slices were subjected to haematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemistry (SP method). Cartilage tissues were observed under a light microscope after Safranin O-fast green staining. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and western blot analyses demonstrated that the expression of MMP-13, NF-κBp65 and IL-lß in the mild and severe groups were substantially upregulated compared with the control group (all P<0.05). A positive correlation between MMP-13 and NF-κBp65 expression in the KOA synovial tissues was identified (P<0.05). Immunohistochemistry revealed that the expression of MMP-13 and NF-κBp65 was related to the severity of KOA (MMP-13: severe, 92.54%; moderate, 76.52%; control: 32.14%; and NF-κBp65: severe, 85.56%; moderate, 48.12%; control: 28.32%). This evidence indicated that the severity of KOA was related to MMP-13 and NF-κBp65 expression. The NF-κB signalling pathway may be activated during OA progression, which could upregulate the expression of MMP-13 and IL-1ß and accelerate the deterioration of articular cartilage.

AIMS: To assess the effect of peer support intervention on diabetes distress in people with type 2 diabetes. BACKGROUND: Diabetes distress may be decreased by peer support intervention, but findings about the effect of peer support on diabetes distress have been mixed. DESIGN: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies. DATA SOURCES: PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and CINAHL databases were searched for randomized controlled trials from inception to 30 June 2018. REVIEW METHODS: Investigators assessed eligibility, extracted data, and assessed methodological quality. Standardized mean difference and 95% confidence intervals were calculated for pooled effect size. RESULTS: A total of 13 studies included in systematic review and 10 in meta-analysis. In the random-effects model, the pooled effect size showed current peer support intervention did not significantly reduce diabetes distress in type 2 diabetes population compared with usual care. CONCLUSION: High quality and well-designed studies targeting at reducing diabetes distress are needed to further test the effect of peer support intervention on diabetes distress.

Zooplankton plays a mediating role in the food web of aquatic ecosystems, the stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes (δ13C and δ15N) of which have been widely used to study the utilization of food resources, material cycling pathways, and trophic relationships. The δ13C and δ15N values of zooplankton have been used to predict primary productivity, sources and sinks of pollutants and environmental changes. To better use δ13C and δ15N of zooplankton as ecological and environmental indicators, it is particularly important to understand their temporal and spatial variations and the influencing factors. Based on related literature, we synthesized spatial and temporal variations in δ13C and δ15N of zooplankton in different aquatic ecosystems and taxa groups, and the use of δ13C and δ15N indicators for ecological processes and environmental changes. The δ13C and δ15N of zooplankton are largely affected by its food sources, and its stable isotope compositions are in turn affected by primary productivity and nitrogen sources. We proposed that the combination of δ13C and δ15N in zooplankton with transportation and transformation of emerging pollutants would form a multi-means, multi-disciplinary and multi-scale research direction in the fields of earth science and biology.

RESUMEN

As fracture healing is related to gene expression, fracture healing is prospected to be implicated in long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). This study focuses on the effects of epigenetic silencing of long non-coding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 (lncRNA MEG3) on fracture healing by regulating the Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway. Genes expressed in fracture were screened using bioinformatics and the subcellular location of MEG3 was determined using FISH. Next, we successfully established tibia fracture (TF) models of C57BL/6J and Col2a1-ICAT mice and the effect of silencing lncRNA MEG3 on fracture healing was detected after TF mice were treated with phosphate buffer saline (PBS), MEG3 siRNA and scramble siRNA. X-ray imaging, Safranin-O/fast green and haematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and histomorphometrical and biomechanical analysis were adopted to observe and to detect the fracture healing conditions. Additionally, the positive expression of collagen II and osteocalcin was examined using immunohistochemistry. At last, in the in vitro experiment, the relationship of MEG3 and the Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway in fraction healing was investigated. MEG3 was located in the cell nucleus. In addition, it was found that MEG3 and the Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway were associated with fraction healing. Moreover, silencing MEG3 was proved to elevate callus area and maximum bending load and to furthermore enhance the recanalization of bone marrow cavity. Finally, MEG3 knockdown elevated levels of Col10a1, Runx2, Osterix, Osteocalcin, Wnt10b and ß-catenin/ß-catenin whereas it reduced p-GSK-3ß/GSK-3ß levels. Taken together, our data supported that epigenetic silencing of lncRNA MEG3 could promote the tibia fracture healing by activating the Wnt/ß-catenin signalling pathway.

The older adults with chronic disease usually show poor mental health and experience low quality of life (QOL). This study aimed to examine the mediating role of social support in the relationship between depression and QOL in community-dwelling older adults with chronic disease. A total of 387 Chinese older adults aged 60 or above with chronic disease were included in this cross-sectional study. Social support was negatively associated with depression and positively associated with physical component scale (PCS) and mental component scale (MCS). Depression and social support were all predictors of PCS and MCS. Mediation analysis suggested that social support partially mediated the impact of depression on PCS and MCS. Understanding the mediating role of social support might be beneficial in reducing the adverse impact of depression on QOL in community-dwelling older adults with chronic disease.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effects of three fixation methods at the level of fracture in treating thoracolumbar fractures. METHODS: From June 2012 to June 2015, 67 patients with thoracolumbar fractures were treated with posterior short-segment pedicle fixation. There were 45 males and 22 females, aged from 13 to 63 years old with an average of 42.5 years. According to the methods of fixation at the level of fracture, the patients were divided into three groups. Group A included 26 patients treated by traditional posterior fixation alone. Group B included 19 patients treated by posterior fixation with unilateral pedicle fixation at the level of fracture. In group C, 22 patients were treated by posterior fixation with bilateral fracture-level screws. Radiological parameters and clinical outcomes were compared among the three groups. RESULTS: All the patients were followed up for 12 to 26 months with an average of 17.6 months. No complications such as incision infection, poor wound healing, internal fixation loosening and breakage were found. Preoperative, postoperative 1 week, and final follow-up, there were no significance differences among the three groups with respect to the relative height of the fractured vertebra (P>0.05). The sagittal Cobb angles among the three groups were similar preoperatively, and a week after operation (P>0.05). At latest follow-up, the sagittal Cobb angles and the correction loss of Cobb angle in group A were significantly larger than that of groups B and C (P<0.05), while there was no statistical difference between group B and group C (P>0.05). With respect to visual analogue scale (VAS) scores for back pain, the three groups were similar at preoperatively, a week after operation and the latest follow-up(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Compared to traditional posterior fixation alone, unilateral or bilateral pedicle fixation at the level of fracture can significantly decrease the loss of correction in the middle-long term, and reduce the incidence of tardive kyphosis deformity and can obtain satisfactory radiological results and clinical outcomes with safe surgical procedures.

AIM: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of exercise on fall prevention in nursing home residents. BACKGROUND: Nursing home residents have a high risk of falling. No conclusive evidence exists on the effectiveness of exercise on fall prevention in nursing home residents. DESIGN: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. DATA RESOURCES: Databases of PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature and China Biology Medicine were searched from inception to March 2017, with no language limitation. REVIEW METHODS: The review was conducted according to the guidelines of the Cochrane Collaboration. Studies on exercise interventions to prevent falls in nursing home residents were eligible. The primary outcome was the odds ratio with 95% confidence intervals of falls. RESULTS: Nine studies were included in the meta-analysis where exercise was compared with daily routine, social activities, and other methods in preventing falls. About falls, the pooled effect size of seven studies showed that exercise had no effect on fall prevention in nursing home residents. There was low heterogeneity. No significant publication bias was observed. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the systematic review and meta-analysis suggested that exercise did not play a role in preventing falls. Further studies with high quality and larger samples are required to support or counter the results.

We demonstrate the first achievement of continuous-wave (CW) pumped second harmonic generation (SHG) in few- and mono-layer gallium selenide (GaSe) flakes, which are coated on silicon photonic crystal (PC) cavities. Because of ultrahigh second order nonlinearity of the two-dimensional (2D) GaSe and localized resonant mode in the PC cavity, SHG's pump power is greatly reduced to microwatts. In a nine-layer GaSe coated PC cavity, while the optical power inside the GaSe flake is only 1.5% of that in the silicon PC slab, the SHG in GaSe is more than 650 times stronger than the third harmonic generation in silicon slab, indicating 2D GaSe's great potentials to strengthen nonlinear processes in silicon photonics. Our study opens up a new view to expand 2D materials' optoelectronic applications in nonlinear regime and chip-integrated active devices.

This study explores the effects of intergroup exclusion on need-threat and the behavioral tendencies of excluded individuals. Results show that those excluded by in-group members perceived more threat to relational needs, while participants excluded by out-group members perceived more threat to efficacy needs. In addition, participants excluded by out-group members displayed significantly more aggression intention and less helping intention than those who were excluded by in-group members. This study indicates that the group relationship between excluders and the excluded will directly affect threat perception and behavioral responses.
