RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common complication after radical prostatectomy (RP). It has a great influence on the postoperative quality of life of patients. This study aims to explore the clinical efficacy of low-frequency electrical pulse acupoint stimulation combined with pelvic floor muscle exercise in the treatment of UI after RP. METHODS: The clinical data of 129 patients with UI after receiving RP in our hospital from July 2020 to July 2023 were retrospectively analysed. A total of 65 patients who received pelvic floor muscle exercise from July 2020 to January 2022 were set as the reference group. Of these patients, four were excluded, resulting in the inclusion of 61 cases. A total of 64 patients who received low-frequency electrical pulse acupoint stimulation combined with pelvic floor muscle exercise from February 2022 to July 2023 were classified into the observation group. Of these patients, four were excluded, and 60 cases were finally included. SPSS 23.0 was used to analyse the use of urine pads, recovery time of urinary control and improvement of urination in the two groups. RESULTS: Before treatment, no significant difference existed in the use of urine pads, urination condition, maximum flow rate, maximum cystometric capacity, maximum urethral closure pressure, abdominal leak point pressure and scores on Short-Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) in both groups (p > 0.05). After treatment, the observation group had significantly lower use of urinary pads, urination frequency and leakage times; Significantly shorter recovery time of urinary control (p < 0.05); And significantly higher maximum flow rate, maximum cystometric capacity, maximum urethral closure pressure, abdominal leak point pressure and SF-36 scores than the reference group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The combination of low-frequency electrical pulse acupoint stimulation and pelvic floor muscle exercise can improve clinical symptoms, shorten the recovery time of urinary control and improve urodynamics and quality of life in patients with UI after RP.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the clinical effect of electrical acupoint stimulation with low-frequency pulse in the treatment of urinary incontinence after prostatectomy. METHODS: This study selected 104 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy in Pujiang People Hospital from April 2019 to April 2022 as the research subjects, and they were divided into the study group (SG, n = 51, electrical acupoint stimulation with low-frequency pulse) and the control group (CG, n = 53, traditional pelvic floor muscle exercise) in accordance with the therapeutic regimen. In addition, clinical and follow-up data were analysed, and the number of urine pads used before and after treatment, recovery time of urinary continence, scores of 36-Item Short-form Health Survey (SF-36), clinical curative efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions in both groups were compared. RESULTS: Before treatment, no remarkable difference in the number of urine pads used was observed between the two groups (p > 0.05). After treatment, the number of urine pads used in the two groups was less than that before treatment, and the number of urine pads used in the SG was less than that in the CG (p < 0.001). The SG had overtly shorter recovery time of urinary continence, higher scores in eight dimensions of SF-36 and higher treatment efficiency than the CG (all p < 0.05), with no remarkable difference in the incidence of adverse reactions in both groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Electrical acupoint stimulation with low-frequency pulse, as a safe and ideal treatment, can shorten the recovery time of postoperative urinary continence ability, reduce the incidence of urinary incontinence and improve the quality of life of patients.

RESUMEN

Background: Trichilemmal carcinoma (TC) is a rare malignancy with a poor outcome if local recurrence and distant metastasis occur. There is no treatment strategy for such a disease. Case presentation: We reported a complicated case of TC in the right lower abdomen with ipsilateral axillary and inguinal lymph node metastases. After surgery and radiotherapy, there has been no recurrence or metastasis in the follow-up to date. Conclusion: We believe that even though considered a tumor of low malignant potential, TC still has the risk of recurrence and metastasis, and the lymph node status should be identified if a high suspicion or diagnosis is made. Regional lymph node dissection followed by local radiotherapy is recommended as the optimal treatment strategy for patients with lymph node metastases of TC. Screening for metastasis and close follow-up are indispensable for improving prognosis.

RESUMEN

This study aimed to evaluate the role of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values obtained from diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in the differentiation of malignant from benign papillary breast lesions. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data of 94 breast papillary lesions confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed. The differences in ADC values of papillary lesions under different enhancements in MRI and different pathological types were investigated, and the ADC threshold was determined by the receiver operating characteristic curve for its potential diagnostic value. The mean ADC values in borderline and malignant lesions (1.01 ± 0.20 × 10-3 mm2/s) were significantly lower compared to benign lesions (1.21 ± 0.27 × 10-3 mm2/s) (P < 0.05). The optimal threshold of the ADC value could be 1.00 × 10-3 mm2/s. The ADC values were statistically significant in differentiating between benign and malignant papillary lesions whether in mass or non-mass enhancement (P < 0.05). However, there were no statistical differences in the ADC values among borderline or any other histological subtypes of malignant lesions (P > 0.05). Measuring ADC values from DWI can be used to identify benign and malignant breast papillary lesions. The diagnostic performance of the ADC value in identifying benign and malignant breast lesions is not affected by the way of lesion enhancement. However, it shows no use for differential diagnosis among malignant lesion subtypes for now. The ADC value of 1.00 × 10-3 mm2/s can be used as the most appropriate threshold for distinguishing between benign and malignant breast papillary lesions.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study was aimed to explore the efficacy of combination of endo-xylanase (Xyn) and xylan-debranching enzymes (arabinofuranosidase, Afd and feruloyl esterase, FE) in improving utilization of bran in piglet diet. METHODS: In vitro experiments were firstly conducted to examine the enzymological properties of Xyn, Afd, and FE, concurrent with their effect on degradation of arabinoxylan (Abx) in bran. In vivo experiment was then implemented by allocating two hundred and seventy 35-d-old postweaning piglets into 3 groups (6 replicates/group), which received bran-containing diet supplemented with Xyn (1,600 U/kg) or its combination with Afd (0.8 U/kg) and FE (4 U/kg) or without enzyme. RESULTS: Both Xyn, Afd, and FE are relatively stable against the changes in temperature and pH value. Combining Xyn with Afd and FE had a superiority (p<0.05) over Xyn alone and its combination with Afd or FE in promoting (p<0.05) degradation of Abx in different brans. Combined treatment with Xyn, Afd, and FE was more beneficial than Xyn alone to induce increasing trends (p<0.10) of average daily gain, final body weight and feed efficiency of piglets fed bran-containing diet. Moreover, combination of Xyn, Afd, and FE showed advantages (p<0.05) over Xyn alone in causing reductions (p<0.05) in diarrhea rate and cecal pH value, concurrent with increases (p<0.05) in cecal and colonic acetic acid and total volatile fatty acid concentrations, as well as cecal butyric acid concentration of piglets fed bran-containing diet. CONCLUSION: Combining Xyn with Afd and FE was more beneficial than Xyn alone in promoting degradation of Abx in bran, along with growth performance and intestinal volatile fatty acid profile of piglets received bran-containing diet. Thereby, combination of Xyn, Afd, and FE had a superior efficacy relative to Xyn alone in improving application of cereal bran in piglet diet.

RESUMEN

The developing vascular network is grown on the surface of chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), so CAM is widely used as an in vivo model to study the angiogenesis. Because the CAM is hindered or wrinkled by the vehicle, the drug effect is difficult to be observed. In the present study, we firstly introduced the pluronic F127 aquogel to deliver drugs for the CAM model. The biocompatibility and advantage of this vehicle was shown by applied ranibizumab-pluronic F127 mix on the CAM. The results were showed that, the growth of blood vessels was not impaired by pluronic F127 gel, and the gel was almost imperceptible on the CAM, at the same time, the degradation of blood capillaries caused by ranibizumab was clearly visible. In conclusion, pluronic F127 was a good vehicle for angiogenesis research.
