RESUMEN

Bilestones are solid masses found in the gallbladder or biliary tract, which block the normal bile flow and eventually result in severe life-threatening complications. Studies have shown that bilestone formation may be related to bile flow dynamics and the concentration level of bile components. The bile flow dynamics in the biliary tract play a critical role in disclosing the mechanism of bile stasis and transportation. The concentration of bile composition is closely associated with processes such as nucleation and crystallization. Recently, microfluidic-based biosensors have been favored for multiple advantages over traditional benchtop detection assays for their less sample consumption, portability, low cost, and high sensitivity for real-time detection. Here, we reviewed the developments in bile dynamics study and microfluidics-based bile component detection methods. These studies may provide valuable insights into the bilestone formation mechanisms and better treatment, alongside our opinions on the future development of in vitro lithotriptic drug screening of bilestones and bile characterization tests.

To achieve high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and long-term stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), a hole transport layer (HTL) with persistently high conductivity, good moisture/oxygen barrier ability, and adequate passivation capability is important. To achieve enough conductivity and effective hole extraction, spiro-OMeTAD, one of the most frequently used HTL in optoelectronic devices, often needs chemical doping with a lithium compound (LiTFSI). However, the lithium salt dopant induces crystallization and has a negative impact on the performance and lifetime of the device due to its hygroscopic nature. Here, we provide an easy method for creating a gel by mixing a natural small molecule additive (thioctic acid, TA) with spiro-OMeTAD. We discover that gelation effectively improves the compactness of resultant HTL and prevents moisture and oxygen infiltration. Moreover, the gelation of HTL improves not only the conductivity of spiro-OMeTAD, but also the operational robustness of the devices in the atmospheric environment. In addition, TA passivates the perovskite defects and facilitates the charge transfer from the perovskite layer to HTL. As a consequence, the optimized PSCs based on the gelated HTL exhibit an improved PCE (22.52%) with excellent device stability.

Although the mouse tail model of secondary lymphedema has been widely used in research, our knowledge regarding some of the characteristic changes in this model is lacking. Therefore, in the current study, we aimed to identify pathologic changes after surgery. Tail lymphedema was created in C57BL/6J mice by disconnecting both superficial and deep lymphatic vessels. The surgery resulted in chronic edema formation with the proliferation of subcutaneous adipose tissue, deposition of fibrotic tissue, and gradual increase in CD4+ T lymphocyte infiltration. Furthermore, dramatic expansion and an increased number of lymphatic vessels were observed postoperatively. Lymphatic reflux was established at least 8 weeks after surgery, as evidenced by staining of the scar from the surgical excision. In addition, tissue fibrosis was irreversible, although CD4+ T cell infiltration, tail swelling, and subcutaneous adipose hyperplasia were alleviated over time. We also show that necrosis could be effectively avoided by paying attention to several details in the modeling process. As animal models play a key role in exploring the pathophysiology of disease, our findings provide strong support for the study of lymphedema. The irreversibility of fibrosis suggests the importance of treating lymphedema by preventing fibrosis development.

RESUMEN

A simple chemical process was developed in a scalable manner, to reduce trap states in perovskite absorbers from the very beginning. The obvious decrease of I2 in methylammonium iodide and the decrease of trap density in the resultant films were identified, which led to the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) increase from 16.5% to 18.5%.

RESUMEN

A simple naphthalene based fluorescent probe was first time reported as dual sensing of 2,4,6-trinitrotolune (TNT) and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) by distinguishable changes in both solution color change and fluorescence within same sample without any mask agent. Upon addition of TNT and TNP, the strong emission quenching at 412nm and a new emission band at 530nm was observed, respectively. In addition, the sensing mechanism was evaluated by DFT calculations by Gaussian 09 software.
