RESUMEN

The Pselaphodes Westwood complex of genera is represented in Hubei Province by four genera and eight species. Recent field work at Wanchaoshan Nature Reserve, Xingshan County revealed a small series of material belonging to this complex. In this paper, we describe Pselaphodeswanchaoshanus sp. nov. and provide new faunistic data for P.nomurai Yin, Li & Zhao. A key to the hitherto known members of Pselaphodes complex that occur in Hubei is provided to facilitate ready species identification.

RESUMEN

Prior to this study, no species of Pseudophanias Raffray had been reported from Nanling, a vast biodiversity conservation area that spans five provinces in southern China. In this paper, three new species of the genus are described: Pseudophaniasfurcilobussp. nov. (Guizhou, Guangxi), P.leigongsp. nov. (Guizhou), and P.mulunsp. nov. (Guangxi), suggesting that additional study on the diversity of this group in the area is required. These species are characterized, keyed, and compared to similar congeners, supplemented with illustrations of the habitus and other morphological characters.

RESUMEN

Physomerinusjiulongensissp. nov. is described from a series of overwintering individuals collected in decomposing wood at Jiulong National Wetland Park, East China. The new species is characterized and separated from related congeners by the unique form of the sexually dimorphic maxillary palpi, greatly swollen male metafemora, as well as by the shape of the genitalia of both sexes. A key to, and a distributional map of, Physomerinus species occurring in China and on the Ryukyu Islands, Japan is provided.

RESUMEN

A new genus and species of the pselaphine tribe Tyrini, Klimaszewskia punctata gen. et sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Java, Indonesia. Klimaszewskia gen. nov. differs from all other genera of Tyrini primarily by the long, extended maxillary palpus having the fourth palpomere that is mesally expanded near the base, and has an elongate and narrowed apical region, combined with the presence of an antebasal sulcus of the pronotum, and the long first visible tergite. A single female with much larger body size from Nepal, representing a second species of the new genus, is briefly characterized but left unnamed.

RESUMEN

Tibetyrus formicarius Yin Lin, gen. et sp. nov., a new myrmecophilous genus and species of the pselaphine tribe Tyrini, is described from southeastern Xizang, China. Three adults were collected in nests of a Formica ant species (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) at an altitude of 3,485 m. Tibetyrus is similar to Megatyrus Hlavác Nomura in sharing the basally pedunculate maxillary palpi that lack an apical cone on the fourth palpomeres. Nevertheless, it can be readily separated from the latter and all other genera of the tribe by its unique suite of morphological features as well as a highly recognizable habitus.
