RESUMEN

Allylation of N-unsubstituted isatin N,N'-cyclic azomethine imines with Morita-Baylis-Hillman carbonates in the presence of 1-10 mol% DABCO in DCM at room temperature, rapidly gave N-allylated and N, ß-diallylated isatin N,N'-cyclic azomethine imine 1,3-dipoles in moderate to high yields. The reaction features mild reaction conditions, easily practical operation, and short reaction times in most cases. Furthermore, the alkylated products were transformed into novel bicyclic spiropyrrolidine oxoindole derivatives through the [3+2] or [3+3]-cycloaddition with maleimides or Knoevenagel adducts.

RESUMEN

Owing to their unique chemical properties, α-alkylidene succinimides generally act as versatile synthons in organic synthesis. Compared with well-established annulations, nucleophilic alkylations of α-alkylidene succinimides are very limited. Accordingly, an organocatalytic allylic alkylation of α-benzylidene succinimides with Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) carbonates was established. In the presence of a chiral phosphine catalyst, α-benzylidene succinimides reacted smoothly with MBH carbonates under mild conditions to furnish a series of optical active succinimides in high yields and enantioselectivities. Different from the reported results, the organocatalytic enantioselective construction of pyrrolidine-2,5-dione frameworks bearing contiguous chiral tertiary carbon centers was achieved via this synthetic strategy. Scaling up the reaction indicated that it is a practical strategy for the organocatalytic enantioselective alkylation of α-alkylidene succinimides. A possible reaction mechanism was also proposed.

RESUMEN

A straightforward synthetic protocol for the efficient construction of diazepine-containing spiroindolines has been developed and proceeds through a by base-promoted annulation reaction of α-halogenated N-acylhydrazones and isatin-derived MBH carbonates. The reaction mechanism of this formal [4 + 3] annulation includes the in situ generated allylic ylide, nucleophilic substitution, Michael additon, and elimination processes. Additionally, the similar reaction with α-halogenated N-tosylhydrazones also afforded N-tosyl-substituted spiro[indoline-3,5'-[1,2]diazepine] in satisfactory yields. This protocol provides a convenient approach for the assembly of diverse highly functionalized spiro[indoline-3,5'-[1,2]diazepines] and also features a broad substrate scope, simple reaction conditions, and high molecular convergence.

RESUMEN

An interesting ß-isoquinidine catalyzed divergent reaction was developed to produce either spirocyclopentene oxindoles, spirocyclopentadiene oxindoles or bisoxindoles in a high enantioselective fashion. The utility of this protocol was demonstrated by the versatile transformations of the products. This work not only represents the first highly stereoselective intermolecular catalytic asymmetric allylic alkylation reaction between two isatin-derived MBH carbonate molecules but also constitutes a rare example of isatin-derived MBH carbonate-based enantioselective and α-regioselective [3+2] cycloaddition reactions.
