Objective: This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) for diagnosing focal liver lesions in patients with a history of multiple primary malignant neoplasms. Methods: Among patients who underwent EUS-TA for focal liver lesions between 2016 and 2022, those with a history of multiple malignant neoplasms were included. A histologically confirmed malignant tumor within the past 5 years before EUS-TA was defined as a history of malignant neoplasm. The primary outcomes were diagnostic ability and adverse events of EUS-TA. Results: This study included 16 patients (median age, 73 [33-90] years), the median tumor size was 32 (6-51) mm, 14 had a history of double malignant neoplasms, whereas two had triple malignant neoplasms. Malignant neoplasms were detected histologically or cytologically in all cases. Immunohistochemistry was performed in 75% (12/16), and the final diagnosis of EUS-TA was metastatic liver tumor in 12 patients, and primary malignant liver tumor in four patients. The primary site could be identified in 11 of 12 metastatic tumor cases. The diagnostic yield of EUS-TA was 100% (16/16) for differentiating benign and malignant tumors and 94% (15/16) for confirming the histological type including the primary site of metastatic lesions. No adverse events were associated with the procedure. Conclusion: EUS-TA is a useful diagnostic modality for focal liver lesions in patients with a history of multiple malignant neoplasms, allowing for the differential diagnosis of primary and metastatic tumors and identification of the primary site of metastatic lesions.

Objectives: To identify and classify submucosal tumors by building and validating a radiomics model with gastrointestinal endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) images. Methods: A total of 144 patients diagnosed with submucosal tumors through gastrointestinal EUS were collected between January 2019 and October 2020. There are 1952 radiomic features extracted from each patient's EUS images. The statistical test and the customized least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression were used for feature selection. Subsequently, an extremely randomized trees algorithm was utilized to construct a robust radiomics classification model specifically tailored for gastrointestinal EUS images. The performance of the model was measured by evaluating the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results: The radiomics model comprised 30 selected features that showed good discrimination performance in the validation cohorts. During validation, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was calculated as 0.9203 and the mean value after 10-fold cross-validation was 0.9260, indicating excellent stability and calibration. These results confirm the clinical utility of the model. Conclusions: Utilizing the dataset provided curated from gastrointestinal EUS examinations at our collaborating hospital, we have developed a well-performing radiomics model. It can be used for personalized and non-invasive prediction of the type of submucosal tumors, providing physicians with aid for early treatment and management of tumor progression.

Gossypiboma is an extremely rare adverse event occurring post-surgery, where surgical gauze is left within the body. If aseptically retained, it can lead to the formation of granulation tissue through chronic inflammation and adhesion with surrounding tissues, potentially persisting asymptomatically for many years. While diagnosis of this condition has been reported through various imaging modalities such as abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography, cases not presenting with typical findings are difficult for preoperative diagnosis, and instances where it is discovered postoperatively exist. Particularly when in contact with the gastrointestinal tract within the abdominal cavity, differentiation from submucosal tumors of the digestive tract becomes problematic. This report describes the imaging characteristics of endoscopic ultrasound and the usefulness of endoscopic ultrasound-fine-needle-aspiration for tissue diagnosis in the preoperative diagnosis of intra-abdominal gossypiboma.

The ultrasound study of diaphragm function represents a valid method that has been extensively studied in recent decades in various fields, especially in intensive care, emergency, and pulmonology settings. Diaphragmatic function is pivotal in these contexts due to its crucial role in respiratory mechanics, ventilation support strategies, and overall patient respiratory outcomes. Dysfunction or weakness of the diaphragm can lead to respiratory failure, ventilatory insufficiency, and prolonged mechanical ventilation, making its assessment essential for patient management and prognosis in critical care and emergency medicine. While several studies have focused on diaphragmatic functionality in the context of intensive care, there has been limited attention within the field of anesthesia. The ultrasound aids in assessing diaphragmatic dysfunction (DD) by measuring muscle mass and contractility and their potential variations over time. Recent advancements in ultrasound imaging allow clinicians to evaluate diaphragm function and monitor it during mechanical ventilation more easily. In the context of anesthesia, early studies have shed light on the patho-physiological mechanisms of diaphragm function during general anesthesia. In contrast, more recent research has centered on evaluating diaphragmatic functionality at various phases of general anesthesia and by comparing diverse types of procedures or anatomical position during surgery. The objectives of this current review are to highlight the use of diaphragm ultrasound for the evaluation of diaphragmatic function during perioperative anesthesia and surgery. Specifically, we aim to examine the effects of anesthetic agents, surgical techniques, and anatomical positioning on diaphragmatic function. We explore how ultrasound aids in assessing DD by measuring muscle mass and contractility, as well as their potential variations over time. Additionally, we will discuss recent advancements in ultrasound imaging that allow clinicians to evaluate diaphragm function and monitor it during mechanical ventilation more easily.

OBJECTIVE: Automated detection and segmentation of breast masses in ultrasound images are critical for breast cancer diagnosis, but remain challenging due to limited image quality and complex breast tissues. This study aims to develop a deep learning-based method that enables accurate breast mass detection and segmentation in ultrasound images. Approach. A novel convolutional neural network-based framework that combines the You Only Look Once (YOLO) v5 network and the Global-Local (GOLO) strategy was developed. First, YOLOv5 was applied to locate the mass regions of interest (ROIs). Second, a Global Local-Connected Multi-Scale Selection (GOLO-CMSS) network was developed to segment the masses. The GOLO-CMSS operated on both the entire images globally and mass ROIs locally, and then integrated the two branches for a final segmentation output. Particularly, in global branch, CMSS applied Multi-Scale Selection (MSS) modules to automatically adjust the receptive fields, and Multi-Input (MLI) modules to enable fusion of shallow and deep features at different resolutions. The USTC dataset containing 28,477 breast ultrasound images was collected for training and test. The proposed method was also tested on three public datasets, UDIAT, BUSI and TUH. The segmentation performance of GOLO-CMSS was compared with others networks and three experienced radiologists. Main results. YOLOv5 outperformed other detection models with average precisions of 99.41%, 95.15%, 93.69% and 96.42% on the USTC, UDIAT, BUSI and TUH datasets, respectively. The proposed GOLO-CMSS showed superior segmentation performance over other state-of-the-art networks, with Dice similarity coefficients (DSCs) of 93.19%, 88.56%, 87.58% and 90.37% on the USTC, UDIAT, BUSI and TUH datasets, respectively. The mean DSC between GOLO-CMSS and each radiologist was significantly better than that between radiologists (p < 0.001). Significance. Our proposed method can accurately detect and segment breast masses with a decent performance comparable to radiologists, highlighting its great potential for clinical implementation in breast ultrasound examination.

INTRODUCTION: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disorder among musculoskeletal conditions. Non-surgical treatment is the standard therapy for knee OA (KOA). Ultrasound therapy is recommended for alleviating pain and dysfunction from OA, but high-quality scientific evidence for its effectiveness in OA treatment is still lacking.Therefore, we want to analyse whether combining conventional physical therapy with low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) can enhance the efficacy of conventional therapy, thus improving symptoms in patients with KOA. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This randomised controlled trial aims to recruit 200 patients diagnosed with KOA, aged 38 years or above, who meet the clinical diagnostic criteria for KOA. Patients will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either a LIPUS treatment group or a sham ultrasound treatment control group. The 2-week treatment will consist of five sessions per week and evaluations will take place at baseline, on the day of the last intervention and 1 month post intervention. The main outcome measures will be the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities' scores. Secondary outcome indicators will be the Numerical Pain Rating Scale, the Lequesne scale, the time up and go test and the range of motion of the knee. An intention-to-treat analysis will be performed for dropouts and missing data. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The study was approved by the ethics committee of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University (2023PS592K). Findings will be disseminated to participants and made available to peer-reviewed journals. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: The trial was registered on the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry platform (chictr.org.cn) on 22 March 2023, with the registration ID ChiCTR2300069643.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of the row-like needling along the spleen meridian combined with autonomous functional exercise in treatment of postpartum diastasis recti abdominis. METHODS: A total of 72 patients with postpartum diastasis recti abdominis were randomly divided into an observation group (36 cases, 3 cases excluded) and a control group (36 cases, 3 cases dropped out). In the control group, the autonomous functional exercise was performed on the rectus abdominis. In the observation group, on the basis of the treatment as the control group, the row-like needling along the spleen meridian was delivered. Along the distribution of the spleen meridian on the abdomen, besides Daheng (SP 15), acupuncture was operated at the sites 3 cm and 6 cm directly above and below Daheng (SP 15) bilaterally. Five points on each side were stimulated along the meridian. Acupuncture was delivered once every two days, 3 interventions a week. One course of treatment, composed of 10 treatments, was required. Before treatment and after 5 and 10 treatments, the inter-rectus distance (IRD) and the score of the medical outcomes study 36-item short form health survey (SF-36) were observed in the two groups, respectively. RESULTS: After 5 and 10 treatments, the IRD at the sites 3 cm above the umbilicus, in the center of the umbilicus and below the umbilicus was reduced when compared with that before treatment in the observation group, respectively (P<0.01); and the IRD at the site 3 cm above the umbilicus was decreased in comparison with that before treatment in the control group (P<0.05). After treated for 5 times, compared with the control group, the IRD at the site 3 cm below the umbilicus was reduced in the observation group (P<0.05); and after treated for 10 times, compared with the control group, the IRD at the sites 3 cm above the umbilicus, in the center of the umbilicus and below the umbilicus was reduced in the observation group (P<0.01). After the completion of 5 and 10 treatments, the scores of physical functioning (PF), role-physical (RP), role-emotional (RE) and health change (HC), as well as the total score of SF-36 were all higher than those before treatment in the observation group (P<0.01); while in the control group, the scores of PF, RP and RE, as well as the total score of SF-36 were increased in comparison with those before treatment (P<0.01). After 5 treatments, the scores of general health (GH) and HC in the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01); and after 10 treatments, the score of PF, GH and HC, as well as the total score of SF-36 in the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: On the basis of autonomous functional exercise, the row-like needling along the spleen meridian can promote the recovery of postpartum diastasis recti abdominis and improve the quality of life of the patients.

The current study proposes an optimized ethanolic extraction for the efficient recovery of high-value components from Pakistani olives (cv. Arbequina) using response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural networking (ANN). The extracts were investigated for antioxidant properties and GC-MS metabolite profiling.  Four factors such as time, temperature, solvent concentration, and solute weight (g/100 mL) were utilized as independent variables for determining the response (% yield).  The results obtained under optimum extraction conditions such as duration (25 min), temperature (45°C), solvent concentration (65%; ethanol: water v/v), and solute (7.50 g) indicated an extract yield of 40.96% from Arbiquina olives. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the RSM model showed significant p-values and a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9960, confirming model reliability.  The multilayer perceptron architecture was used in ANN, and the results were fairly consistent with the experimental findings. Arbequina olive extract (AOE) demonstrated significant antioxidant ability in terms of total phenolics, total flavonoid concentration, and DPPH radical scavenging. The GC-MS analysis of AOE revealed the presence of several bioactives, including oleic acid (36.22%), hydroxytyrosol (3.95%), tyrosol (3.32%), ß-sitosterol (2.10%), squalene (1.10%), sinapic acid (0.67%), α-tocopherol (0.66%), vanillic acid (0.56%), 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (0.31%), and quercetin.

Objective. The availability of tissue-mimicking materials (TMMs) for manufacturing high-quality phantoms is crucial for standardization, evaluating novel quantitative approaches, and clinically translating new imaging modalities, such as photoacoustic imaging (PAI). Recently, a gel comprising the copolymer styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene (SEBS) in mineral oil has shown significant potential as TMM due to its optical and acoustic properties akin to soft tissue. We propose using artists' oil-based inks dissolved and diluted in balsam turpentine to tune the optical properties.Approach. A TMM was fabricated by mixing a SEBS copolymer and mineral oil, supplemented with additives to tune its optical absorption and scattering properties independently. A systematic investigation of the tuning accuracies and relationships between concentrations of oil-based pigments and optical absorption properties of the TMM across visible and near-infrared wavelengths using collimated transmission spectroscopy was conducted. The photoacoustic spectrum of various oil-based inks was studied to analyze the effect of increasing concentration and depth.Main results. Artists' oil-based inks dissolved in turpentine proved effective as additives to tune the optical absorption properties of mineral oil SEBS-gel with high accuracy. The TMMs demonstrated long-term stability and suitability for producing phantoms with desired optical absorption properties for PAI studies.Significance. The findings, including tuning of optical absorption and spectral shape, suggest that this TMM facilitates the development of more sophisticated phantoms of arbitrary shapes. This approach holds promise for advancing the development of PAI, including investigation of the spectral coloring effect. In addition, it can potentially aid in the development and clinical translation of ultrasound optical tomography.

This bibliometric and systematic review aims to provide an updated analysis of the evidence supporting the role of ultrasound imaging in diagnosing medical conditions within microgravity environments.

Objectives: Coronary angiography is a procedure performed during cardiac catheterization to define the coronary anatomy and determine the extent of coronary artery disease (CAD). The use of a cheap, relatively available tool like an ultrasound machine to assist in vascular access might reduce the risks associated with blind access. This study aimed to explore the efficacy and associated complications of ultrasound-guided coronary artery catheterization. Methods: This systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42022365518). A systematic search was performed for all published studies without language or country restrictions and all study variables were extracted into prefilled sheets by two independent reviewers. Results: This meta-analysis identified 10 RCTs. The results confirmed statistically significantly reductions of total complications (RR = 0.53, 95% CI 0.39-0.72, P < .001), and hematoma >5 cm formation (RR = 0.43, 95% CI 0.25-0.75, P = 0.003) in patients who underwent ultrasound-guided coronary artery catheterization. Conclusion: Ultrasound with catheterization, as opposed to landmark-based catheterization, significantly improved the peri-catheterization operative outcomes, providing evidence for further research to be conducted and consideration for its implementation within the medical setting.

Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Agonist (GnRH-a) and levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) are conventional conservative treatments for adenomyosis, and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a novel ablation technique. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of HIFU combined with GnRH-a or LNG-IUS for adenomyosis patients. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Scopus databases were searched up to December 2021. Published studies comparing HIFU plus GnRH-a with HIFU plus LNG-IUS in adenomyosis patients were assessed for eligibility by two independent authors. Risk of bias tool was utilized for risk evaluation. We selected treatment effective rate of dysmenorrhea (pain during menstruation) as the primary outcome; effective rate of menorrhagia severity and reduction rate of adenomyotic lesion as the secondary outcomes. Adverse effects were assessed. Four studies with a total 729 patients were enrolled in the meta-analysis. HIFU plus LNG-IUS showed lower dysmenorrhea [within 6 months: risk ratio (RR) 0.88, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.83-0.93, p < 0.00001; over 1 year: RR 0.73, 95% CI 0.65-0.82, p < 0.00001] and less menorrhagia severity (RR 0.63, 95% CI 0.60-0.66, p < 0.00001) than HIFU plus GnRH-a. Both groups demonstrated equal efficacy in adenomyotic lesion reduction rate (RR 1.03, 95% CI 0.97-1.09, p = 0.30). Adverse effects happened equally in both groups. Combination therapy of HIFU and LNG-IUS revealed better effectiveness in treating dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia than that of HIFU and GnRH-a. However, interpreting the conclusion should be approached with caution as a result of significant heterogeneity.

A major challenge in the fields of biological imaging and synthetic biology is noninvasively visualizing the functions of natural and engineered cells inside opaque samples such as living animals. One promising technology that addresses this limitation is ultrasound (US), with its penetration depth of several cm and spatial resolution on the order of 100 µm. Within the past decade, reporter genes for US have been introduced and engineered to link cellular functions to US signals via heterologous expression in commensal bacteria and mammalian cells. These acoustic reporter genes (ARGs) represent a novel class of genetically encoded US contrast agent, and are based on air-filled protein nanostructures called gas vesicles (GVs). Just as the discovery of fluorescent proteins was followed by the improvement and diversification of their optical properties through directed evolution, here we describe the evolution of GVs as acoustic reporters. To accomplish this task, we establish high-throughput, semiautomated acoustic screening of ARGs in bacterial cultures and use it to screen mutant libraries for variants with increased nonlinear US scattering. Starting with scanning site saturation libraries for two homologues of the primary GV structural protein, GvpA/B, two rounds of evolution resulted in GV variants with 5- and 14-fold stronger acoustic signals than the parent proteins. We anticipate that this and similar approaches will help high-throughput protein engineering play as large a role in the development of acoustic biomolecules as it has for their fluorescent counterparts.

Accurate and real-time separation of blood signal from clutter and noise signals is a critical step in clinical non-contrast ultrasound microvascular imaging. Despite the widespread adoption of singular value decomposition (SVD) and robust principal component analysis (RPCA) for clutter filtering and noise suppression, the SVD's sensitivity to threshold selection, along with the RPCA's limitations in undersampling conditions and heavy computational burden often result in suboptimal performance in complex clinical applications. To address those challenges, this study presents a novel low-rank prior-based fast RPCA (LP-fRPCA) approach to enhance the adaptability and robustness of clutter filtering and noise suppression with reduced computational cost. A low-rank prior constraint is integrated into the non-convex RPCA model to achieve a robust and efficient approximation of clutter subspace, while an accelerated alternating projection iterative algorithm is developed to improve convergence speed and computational efficiency. The performance of the LP-fRPCA method was evaluated against SVD with a tissue/blood threshold (SVD1), SVD with both tissue/blood and blood/noise thresholds (SVD2), and the classical RPCA based on the alternating direction method of multipliers algorithm through phantom and in vivo non-contrast experiments on rabbit kidneys. In the slow flow phantom experiment of 0.2 mm/s, LP-fRPCA achieved an average increase in contrast ratio (CR) of 10.68 dB, 9.37 dB, and 8.66 dB compared to SVD1, SVD2, and RPCA, respectively. In the in vivo rabbit kidney experiment, the power Doppler results demonstrate that the LP-fRPCA method achieved a superior balance in the trade-off between insufficient clutter filtering and excessive suppression of blood flow. Additionally, LP-fRPCA significantly reduced the runtime of RPCA by up to 94-fold. Consequently, the LP-fRPCA method promises to be a potential tool for clinical non-contrast ultrasound microvascular imaging.

INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to characterize the whole phenotype of Systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients with sicca symptoms, using major salivary glands Ultrasound (SGUS) parameters, minor salivary glands biopsies (mSGB) and clinical findings, and to compare these characteristics with those from patients with Sjogren's Disease (SjD), and patients with sicca manifestations from other causes. METHODS: Sixty SSc patients fulfilling the 2013 ACR/EULAR classification criteria and with subjective self-declared sicca symptoms were consecutively recruited and had SGUS and mSGB. Fifteen SSc patients without subjective sicca symptoms and 65 patients with sicca symptoms from other causes (including 37 SjD with no SSc). RESULTS: SSc patients with subjective sicca symptoms had frequent objective clinical (up to 83 %), histological (44 % of Focus score≥1/ mm2) and US anomalies (63 % of OMERACT ≥2). 53 % patients without subjective clinical complaint also had abnormal objective tests, suggesting the existence of a sub clinical involvement of salivary glands in SSc. SjD-SSc patients had more severe glandular involvement as compared to patients with isolated SjD and isolated Sicca-SSc patients (70%, 48,6 % and 38% of patients with OMERACT ≥2 respectively) suggesting additive impact of both diseases on glandular physiology and structure. CONCLUSION: SjD-SSc overlap have more severe sicca features as compared to isolated sicca-SSc and isolated SjD, suggesting a specific impact of SSc on salivary gland physiology. Further translational studies are needed to identify the underlying pathways that could serve as therapeutic targets.

Recycling waste Ni-Cd batteries has received much attention recently because of the serious environmental pollution they cause and to avoid the dissipation of valuable metals. Despite significant research, it is still difficult to efficiently recycle valuable and hazardous metals from waste Ni-Cd batteries in an economical and environmentally friendly manner. This study employed a novel process utilizing ultrasound-assisted leaching to recover Ni, Cd, and Co from waste nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries. Organic DL-malic acid served as the leaching agent and H2O2 was employed as an oxidizing agent. The effects of various factors on the recovery efficiency of Ni, Cd, and Co, such as leaching temperature, time, DL-malic acid concentration, pulp density, H2O2 concentration, and ultrasound frequency, were also examined. To predict the chemical compounds present before and after the recycling experiments, the solid residues from the metal extraction were analyzed using XRD, XPS, FE-SEM, and EDS element mapping. Concurrently, ICP-OES was utilized to determine the metal content in the leachate. Under optimized conditions of 90 °C, 90 min, 2M DL-malic acid, 160 mL/g pulp density, and 20% ultrasound frequency, over 83% of Ni, 94% of Cd, and 98% of Co were effectively leached from the waste Ni-Cd battery powder. The leaching kinetics of Ni, Cd, and Co followed the surface chemical reaction control model. The activation energies (Ea) for Ni, Cd, and Co leaching were 21.34, 20.47, and 18.38 kJ/mol, respectively. The findings suggest that ultrasound-assisted leaching is an efficient, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and sustainable alternative for extracting precious and hazardous metals from waste Ni-Cd batteries. Additionally, it reduces industrial chemical usage and enhances waste management sustainability.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Spontaneous ovarian luteal hyperfunction after pregnancy is associated with activating mutations in the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor gene, and clarification of the etiology can help with subsequent treatment. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 32-year-old woman presented with enlarged ovaries and bilateral ovarian polycystic echoes at 12 weeks of both pregnancies. The first pregnancy underwent transabdominal bilateral ovarian aspiration at 17 weeks and was spontaneously aborted 4 days after the procedure. After the discovery of bilateral ovarian polycystic echoes in the second pregnancy, genetic testing suggested the presence of activating mutations in the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene, resulting in ovarian luteinization, and the patient's condition was stabilized after conservative treatment. CLINICAL DISCUSSION: Ovarian luteal hyperfunction may be associated with hyperandrogenemia, thyroid-stimulating hormone abnormalities, abnormal testosterone levels, and genetic mutations. When ovarian luteal hyperfunction occurs, it is recommended to search for the etiology and treat the symptoms. CONCLUSION: Patients presenting with spontaneous ovarian hyperlutealization should be operated on cautiously, treated conservatively, closely observed, and managed for complications, and genetic testing should be performed to clarify the etiology if necessary.

To obtain high-quality cherry products, ultrasound (US) combined with five chemical pretreatment techniques were used on cherry prior to radio frequency vacuum drying (RFV), including carboxymethyl cellulose coating (CMC), cellulase (CE), ethanol (EA), isomaltooligosaccharide (IMO), and potassium carbonate + ethyl oleate (PC + AEEO). The effect of different pretreatments (US-CMC, US-CE, US-EA, US-IMO, US-(PC + AEEO)) on the drying characteristics, quality properties, texture, and sensory evaluation of cherries was evaluated. Results showed that the dehydration time and energy consumption were decreased by 4.17 - 20.83 % and 3.22 - 19.34 %, respectively, and the contents of individual sugars, soluble solid, total phenolics (TPC), natural active substances, total flavonoids (TFC), and antioxidant properties (DPPH, ABTS and FRAP) were significantly increased after US combined with five chemical treatments (P < 0.05). Moreover, the pretreatment played important role in improving texture properties and surface color retention in the dried cherries. According to the sensory evaluation analysis, the dehydrated cherries pretreated with US-CMC exhibited the highest overall acceptance, texture, crispness, color, and sweet taste showed lower off-odor, bitter taste and sour taste compared to control and other pretreatments. The findings indicate that US-CMC pretreatment is a promising technique for increasing physicochemical qualities and dehydration rate of samples, which provides a novel strategy to processing of dried cherry.
