Background: Recently, male fertility preservation before cancer treatment has become more prevalent. The research in this field has progressed over time, with some studies having a major impact and providing guidance for further research. However, the trends and hotspots of research on fertility preservation in male cancer patients may have changed; exploring them is essential for relevant research progress. Design: We extracted relevant studies from the Web of Science Core Collection database, capturing information on the countries of study, affiliations, authors, keywords, as well as co-citations of references and journals. To identify publication trends, research strengths, key subjects, prominent topics, and emerging areas, we conducted a bibliometric analysis using CiteSpace. Results: We included 3201 articles on fertility preservation in male cancer patients published over January 1999 to December 2023 were included. Although the relevant research growth rate was slow initially, the number of publications increased annually. Of all study countries, the United States, Germany, and Japan reported the earliest studies; the United States published the highest number of relevant studies. The US institutions remained at the forefront for all 25 years, and the US researcher Ashok Agarwal published the most articles. Literature co-citation analyses indicated a transformation in the study participants; they comprised a younger demographic (i.e., a large number of adolescent male patients underwent fertility preservation); moreover, fertility preservation techniques evolved from sperm cryopreservation to testicular tissue cryopreservation. Research on reproductive outcomes of sperm cryopreservation was the recent hotspot in male fertility preservation research, and the impact of immunotherapy and checkpoint inhibitors on male fertility requires further research. Conclusions: Male fertility preservation will be a major future research focus, with closer connections and collaborations between countries and organizations. Our results present the historical data on the development of research on male fertility preservation in cancer patients, providing relevant insights for future research and development in this study area.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of research articles on the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC) using CiteSpace to summarize the current research status, hotspots, and trends in this field and present the results visually. METHOD: Research articles on the relationship between IBD and CRC published from 2000 to 2023 and in English were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection (Woscc) database. The articles were downloaded as "full record and references". CiteSpace was used to conduct cooperative, cluster, co-citation, and burst analyses. RESULTS: The literature search revealed 4244 articles; of which, 5 duplicates were removed, resulting in the inclusion of 4239 articles in this study. The United States of America had the highest number of publications, with Mayo Clinic and Harvard University being the most active institutions, and Bas Oldenburg being the most active author. Collaboration among core authors was inadequate. JA Eaden was the most cited author, and CRC was the most common keyword. Burst analysis indicated that Sun Yat-sen University might be one of the institutions with a large contribution to this research field in the future. Cluster analysis showed that earlier research focused more on microsatellite instability, whereas "gut microbiota" and "oxidative stress" are considered current research hotspots and trends. CONCLUSION: At present, the primary focus areas of research are "gut microbiota" and "oxidative stress". With the improvement of healthcare policies and standards, regular endoscopic monitoring of patients with IBD has become an indispensable diagnostic and therapeutic practice. More drugs will be developed to reduce the risk of progression from IBD to CRC. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the relationship between IBD and CRC for researchers in the same field.

Background: Dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing, is a prevalent complication of Parkinson's disease (PD), which can significantly impair quality of life. Despite the numerous studies on dysphagia in PD published in various journals, there remains a dearth of bibliometric analysis within this domain. This study thus aims to examine the global patterns of research on dysphagia after PD over the past 20 years, employing a visual analysis. Material and methods: This investigation aimed to gather pertinent publications concerning dysphagia in PD from the SCI-Expanded database of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), covering the period from 2002 to 2022. To dissect and visually represent the collated corpus, we harnessed the capacities of CiteSpace, VOSviewer and R software for meticulous bibliometric scrutiny. Results: The bibliometric study encompassed a total of 692 publications. Within the scope of autocratic nations, the USA emerged as the leading country in the quantity of research outputs. The University of Florida stood out as the most prolific academic entity, with Troche MS being the foremost author, contributing to 21 publications. The journal "Dysphagia" featured as the prime venue for publication. Key trending terms identified over the last 20 years include "Parkinson's disease," "dysphagia," "oropharyngeal dysphagia," and "prevalence." Conclusion: Bibliometric analysis on dysphagia in PD offers a detailed overview of the development of scholarly publications, enabling scholars to grasp the current state of research within their field. It also serves as a benchmark for shaping future research directions.

Purpose: Kawasaki disease(KD) is a vascular inflammatory disease that was first identified in 1967. Numerous studies have been conducted on KD and have yielded valuable recent insights. This current bibliometric analysis aimed to determine the intellectual landscape of research interest in KD. Methods: Publications were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric tools such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer were utilized to analyze the research focus, emerging trends, frontiers, and hot topics in this specific field. Results: A total of 6122 articles on KD were retrieved. Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatrics International, and Pediatric Infections Disease Journal were the three most productive journals reporting KD development. The University of California San Diego was the most productive institution, with 230 publications. The USA was the most productive country, with 1661 articles in KD. SARS-CoV-2, diagnostic serum biomarkers, and risk factor prediction models for coronary arterial lesions and subtypes of KD are popular topics in KD research. Factors that induce smooth muscle cell transition to myofibroblastic cell, potentially halting the subacute/chronic vasculitis process and endothelial dysfunction in macrophage activation syndrome associated with KD were the frontiers in the study of KD. Conclusion: KD has attracted widespread attention worldwide that has continued to increase since 1974. The most productive institution and country are the University of California San Diego and the USA, respectively. SARS-CoV-2, serum biomarkers, and prediction models are hot topics in this field.

Numerous studies have highlighted the implication of oral microbiota in various cancers. However, no bibliometric analysis has been conducted on the relationship between oral microbiota and cancer. This bibliometric analysis aimed to identify the research hotspots in oral microbiota and cancer research, as well as predict future research trends. The literature published relating to oral microbiota and cancer was searched from the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoSCC) from 2013 to 2022. VOSviewer or Citespace software was used to perform the bibliometric analysis, focusing on countries, institutions, authors, journals, keywords and references. A total of 1516 publications were included in the analysis. The number of publications related oral microbiota and cancer increased annually, reaching its peak in 2022 with 287 papers. The United States (456) and China (370) were the countries with the most publications and made significant contributions to the field. Sears CL and Zhou XD were the most productive authors. The high frequency of keywords revealed key topics, including cancer (colorectal cancer, oral cancer), oral microbiota (Fusobacterium nucleatum, Porphyromonas gingivalis), and inflammation (periodontal disease). The latest trend keywords were F. nucleatum, dysbiosis, prognosis, tumor microenvironment, gastric microbiota, complications and survival, suggesting a new hotspot in the field of oral microbiota and cancer. Our study provides a comprehensive analysis of oral microbiota and cancer research, revealing an increase in publications in recent years. Future research directions will continue to focus on the diversity of oral microbiota impacted by cancers and the underlying mechanism connecting them, providing new ideas for targeted therapy of tumorigenesis.

The generation of uranium-containing wastewater (UCW) during different stages of uranium mining, processing, and utilization presents a significant ecological and biospheric threat. Consequently, it is crucial for both sustainable development and the protection of human health to adopt appropriate methods for the treatment of UCW as well as the separation and enrichment of uranium. This study conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database for publications related to UCW treatment between 1990 and 2022 to gain insight into current trends in the field. Subsequently, the annual publications, WOSCC categories, geographical distribution, major collaborations, prolific authors, influential journals, and highly cited publications were the subjects of a biliometric analysis that was subsequently carried out. The study findings indicate a significant rise in the overall number of publications in the research field between 1990 and 2022. China, India, and the USA emerged as the primary contributors in terms of publication count. The Chinese Academy of Sciences, the East China University of Technology, and the University of South China were identified as the key research institutions in this field. Furthermore, a majority of the publications in this field were distributed through prestigious journals with high impact factors, such as the Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry. The top 3 journals were Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Journal of Hazardous Materials. The keyword co-occurrence and burst analysis revealed that the current research on UCW treatment mainly focuses on adsorption-based treatment methods, environmentally functional materials, uranium recovery, etc. Furthermore, the study of the adsorption efficiency of different adsorbent materials, as well as the strengthening and improvement of adsorbent material selectivity and capacity for the recovery of uranium, represents a research hotspot in the field of UCW treatment in the future. This study conducts a comprehensive overview of the current status and prospects of the UCW treatment, which can provide a valuable reference for gaining insights into the development trajectory of the UCW treatment.

BACKGROUND: Thyroid nodule (TN) is a highly prevalent clinical endocrine disease. Many countries have formed guidelines on the prevention and treatment of TN based on extensive research. However, there is a scarcity of TN-related literature based on bibliometrics. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the scientific achievements and progress of TN research from a global perspective by investigating the literature for 20 years through bibliometrics. METHODS: We searched the literature on TN in the core collection of the Web of Science database from 2002 to 2021 and used the Citespace software to analyze the co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence of countries, institutions, authors, keywords, and co-cited literature. RESULTS: We retrieved 12319 documents related to TN. The literature on TN has been growing since 2002. The United States has contributed the largest proportion of TN papers (20.64%), followed by China, Italy, and South Korea. The United States ranked first in terms of centrality (0.38). Haugen BR, Gharib H, and Cibas ES are the top three most cited authors. The papers published in Thyroid were cited most frequently (7952 times). The most prominent keywords were management, cancer, fine needle aspiration, diagnosis, malignant tumor, thyroid cancer, ultrasound, biopsy, benign, surgery, ablation, and cytology. All keywords could be divided into three categories: diagnosis stratification, treatment, and cancer. As far as potential hot spots are concerned, the keywords that have recently burst strongly and are still continuing are: "Association Guideline" (2018-2021), "Radiofrequency Ablation" (2017-2021), "Classification" (2019-2021), and "Data System" (2017-2021). CONCLUSION: Based on the current trends, the number of publications on TN will continue to increase. The United States is the most active contributor to research in this field. Previous literature focused on stratification, cancer, surgery, and ablation, and there were different opinions on the stratification of diagnosis. There were relatively few studies on pathogenesis and treatment using medicine. More focus will be placed on association guidelines, radiofrequency ablation, classification, and data system, which may be the next popular topics in TN research.

BACKGROUND: Dental development is a complex long-term biological process, significant attention should be paid to the dental development and health of this critical time window in childhood for the oral health of the whole life cycle. AIM: This study aimed to conduct bibliometric studies on the scientific outputs of global dental development research by the CiteSpace software. DESIGN: The global scientific outputs about dental development between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2021, retrieved from Web of Science Core Collection, CiteSpace, and Microsoft Excel were applied for this bibliometric study. RESULTS: A total of 3746 reviews and articles were obtained from the Web of Science core database for exploring the basic publication characteristics, hotspots, and frontiers of this research field. The results showed that dental development is gaining more researcher's attention over time. In terms of countries, the USA and China were the major contributors to this research area. At the institutional level, Sichuan University ranked first. Meanwhile, international cooperation across regions was quite active. The Journal of Dental Research has exerted a broad and far-reaching influence on dental development research in both publications and citations. James P Simmer, Jungwook Kim, Charles E Smith, and Jan CC Hu are among the most influential scholars in this field. Finally, the future hotspots were proposed, covering three directions: dental analysis, tooth development, and post-translational phosphorylation of histones. CONCLUSION: In the past decade, the field of dental development has developed rapidly, and the cooperation between scholars, institutions, and researchers has become increasingly close.

Background: Cellular senescence is associated with age-related pathological changes, senescent cells promote the development of knee osteoarthritis. A better understanding between knee osteoarthritis and cellular senescence may enhance the effectiveness of therapies that aim to slow or stop the progression of this disease. Purpose: This study aimed to systematically analyze and visualize the publication trends, research frontiers and current research hotspots of knee osteoarthritis and cellular senescence by using bibliometrics. Methods: The publication search was performed on the Web of Science Core Collection database for documents published from 1992 to 2023. VOSviewer, Citespace, R package Bibliometrix and Microsoft Office Excel were used to study the characteristics of the publications. The publication number, countries, institutions, authors, journals, citations and co-citations, keywords were analyzed. Results: A total of 1,074 publications were analyzed, with an average annual growth rate of 29.89%. United States accounted for the biggest contributor, ranked first in publications and citations. Publications of this field were published in 420 journals, OSTEOARTHRITIS and CARTILAGE was the most influential. A total of 5,657 authors contributed to this research. The most productive author was Lotz, MK (n = 31, H-index = 22, Total citation = 2,619), followed by Loeser, R.F (n = 16, H-index = 14, Total citation = 2,825). However, the collaboration between authors was relatively weak. Out of the 1,556 institutions involved, 60% were from the United States. Scripps Research ranked first with 25 papers and a total of 2,538 citations. The hotspots of this field had focused on the pathomechanisms (e.g., expression, inflammation, apoptosis, autophagy, oxidative stress) and therapeutics (e.g., stem cell, platelet-rich plasma, transplantation, autologous chondrocytes, repair), and the exploration of Senolytics might be the important direction of future research. Conclusion: Research on the cross field of knee osteoarthritis and cellular senescence is flourishing. Age-related pathomechanism maps of various cells in the joint and the targeted medicines for the senescent cells may be the future trends. This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive analysis of this cross field and new insights into future research.

Background and aims: The tumor microenvironment (TME) has pivotal parts within multiple tumor models of onset/progression, such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). This bibliometric analysis was developed to explore trends and research niches revolving around TME in TNBC. Methods: Web of Science Core Collection was queried for identifying studies linked with TME in TNBC, after which the VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R software programs were used to conduct bibliometric analyses and to generate corresponding visualizations. Results: In total, this study included 1,604 studies published from 2005-2023. The USA and China exhibited the highest numbers of citations, and the research institutions with the greatest output in this field included Harvard University, the University of Texas System, and Fudan University. Ying Wang from Sun Yat-Sen University was the most published and most cited author in this space. The highest number of articles were published in Cancer, while the greatest co-citation number was evident in Breast Cancer Research. Important keywords related to this research topic included metastasis, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and nanoparticles. In particular, pembrolizumab, immunotherapy, nanoparticles, combination treatment, and biomarkers were topics of marked interest in recent reports. Conclusion: The TME in TNBC is an area of rapidly growing and evolving research interest, with extensive global collaboration helping to drive this field forward. Antitumor therapies targeting the TME in TNBC patients represent an emerging topic of future research, providing opportunities for translational findings. The results of this analysis may provide additional guidance for work focused on the TME in TNBC.

Background: Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) has seriously endangered human life and health, the main pathogenic agent is human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). The combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) has shown serious drug resistance and side effects, and the discovery of HIV-1 capsid inhibitors is an effective way to solve the problem. Recent studies have shown significant progress in the research of HIV-1 capsid inhibitors. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive overview of bibliometric analysis in this field. This study aimed to provide the research trends and hotspots of HIV-1 capsid inhibitors. Method: Publications related to HIV-1 capsid inhibitors from 2000 to 2022 were searched on the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database and screened according to inclusion criteria. VOSviewer was conducted to evaluate the results. Results: 96 publications from 25 countries were finally included, and the number of annual publications related to HIV-1 capsid inhibitors showed an increasing trend. The United States was the most productive country with the most publication number, H-index, and total citation number, as well as the widest international cooperation. The most popular journal in this field was Journal of Virology. Drexel University was the most productive institution, and Simon Cocklin participated in the most publications. Keywords co-occurrence analysis exhibited that studying the molecular mechanism of capsid protein, discovering drug candidates, and improving antiretroviral therapy are the main and hot topics in this field. Conclusion: This is the first bibliometric study in the field of HIV-1 capsid inhibitors, which comprehensively analyzed the research trends and hotspots in this direction. This work is expected to provide the scientific community with new insights to promote the research of HIV-1 capsid inhibitors.

AIM: The present study aimed to map publication trends and explore research hotspots of treatment for NAFLD study by bibliometric analysis. BACKGROUND: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a multi-system metabolic disorder involving the liver. Thousands of papers have been published on the treatment of NAFLD, but no comprehensive statistical and intuitive analysis has been made. The present study aimed to map publication trends and explore research hotspots of treatment for NAFLD study by biblio-metric analysis. OBJECTIVE: (1) the pathogenesis of NAFLD and the possible treatment mechanism; (2) preva-lence, risk factors, and traditional therapies for NAFLD; (3) frontier therapies for NAFLD. Method; This paper conducted a bibliometric analysis based on the Web of Science Core Col-lection (WoSCC). The knowledge map was constructed by VOS viewer v.1.6.10 to visualize the annual publication number, the distribution of countries, international collaborations, author productivity, source journals, cited references, and keywords in this field. RESULT: From 2012 to 2021, 2,437 peer-reviewed publications on the treatment of NAFLD were retrieved. China contributed the most publications, while the United States received the most citations. Journal of Hepatology was the most prolific journal in this field. Prof. Rohit Loomba. CONCLUSION: Our study provides a comprehensive and objective analysis of NAFLD treatment that allows researchers to quickly locate research hotspots in a large number of relevant litera-tures. Meanwhile, it may also provide valuable information for researchers looking for potential partners and institutions.

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has now persisted globally for four years, resulting in a staggering death toll of over 4 million individuals. The COVID-19 vaccine has emerged as a highly effective tool in controlling the spread of this virus. However, as the number of individuals receiving COVID-19. In this context, the investigation of adverse reactions related to COVID-19 vaccines holds paramount importance in relevant research. The purpose is to evaluate the current research status regarding adverse reactions associated with COVID-19 vaccines, offering insights for future research. A total of 3,746 articles were included in this analysis, and there has been a notable upward trajectory in the volume of published articles. The CiteSpace v6.1.R6, VOSviewer, SCImago Graphica, and Excel 2019 were employed to analyze and visualize the results. The institutions, countries, journals, authors, co-cited references, and keywords of these articles were analyzed. Furthermore, this study delves into the characteristics of articles on adverse reactions associated with COVID-19 vaccines. It was observed that the number of studies on COVID-19 vaccines has increased year by year since 2019 and witnessed a surge in output in 2021. The vast majority of studies have affirmed the overall safety of COVID-19 vaccines, with adverse reactions tending to be more concentrated in specific diseases. These findings provide valuable ideas for future research in this field and suggest the importance of strengthening international cooperation on adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines.

Objective: To explore the development context, research hotspots and frontiers in the glymphatic system (GS) field from 2012 to 2022 by bibliometric analysis. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was searched for articles published between 2012 and 2022. Microsoft Excel was used to manage the data. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, GraphPad Prism, the Web of Science, and an online analysis platform for bibliometrics (http://bibliometric.com/) were used to analyze the countries, institutions, journals, and collaboration networks among authors and the types of articles, developmental directions, references, and top keywords of published articles. Results: A total of 412 articles were retrieved, including 39 countries/regions, 223 research institutes and 171 academic journals. The subject classifications related to the GS were Neuroscience, Clinical Neuroscience and Radiology/Nuclear Medicine/Medical Imaging. The United States has maintained its dominant and most influential position in GS research. Among research institutions and journals, the Univ Rochester and Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism had the highest number of academic articles, respectively. Nedergaard M had the most published article, and Iliff JJ had the most co-citations. The top two keywords with the highest frequency were "glymphatic system" and "cerebrospinal fluid." Conclusion: This research provides valuable information for the study of the GS. The bibliometric analysis of this area will encourage potential collaborations among researchers, defining its frontiers and directions for development.

Background: Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout the world, many studies on innate immunity in COVID-19 have been published, and great progress has been achieved, while bibliometric analysis on hotspots and research trends in this field remains lacking. Methods: On 17 November 2022, articles and reviews on innate immunity in COVID-19 were recruited from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database after papers irrelevant to COVID-19 were further excluded. The number of annual publications and the average citations per paper were analyzed by Microsoft Excel. Bibliometric analysis and visualization of the most prolific contributors and hotspots in the field were performed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. Results: There were 1,280 publications that met the search strategy on innate immunity in COVID-19 and were published from 1 January 2020 to 31 October 2022. Nine hundred thirteen articles and reviews were included in the final analysis. The USA had the highest number of publications (Np) at 276 and number of citations without self-citations (Nc) at 7,085, as well as an H-index of 42, which contributed 30.23% of the total publications, followed by China (Np: 135, Nc: 4,798, and H-index: 23) with 14.79% contribution. Regarding Np for authors, Netea, Mihai G. (Np: 7) from the Netherlands was the most productive author, followed by Joosten, Leo A. B. (Np: 6) and Lu, Kuo-Cheng (Np: 6). The Udice French Research Universities had the most publications (Np: 31, Nc: 2,071, H-index: 13), with an average citation number (ACN) at 67. The journal Frontiers in Immunology possessed the most publications (Np: 89, Nc: 1,097, ACN: 12.52). "Evasion" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "neutralizing antibody" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "messenger RNA" (strength 1.76, 2021-2022), "mitochondrial DNA" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), "respiratory infection" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022), and "toll-like receptors" (strength 1.51, 2021-2022) were the emerging keywords in this field. Conclusion: The study on innate immunity in COVID-19 is a hot topic. The USA was the most productive and influential country in this field, followed by China. The journal with the most publications was Frontiers in Immunology. "Messenger RNA," "mitochondrial DNA," and "toll-like receptors" are the current hotspots and potential targets in future research.

In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in scientific research into hydrogeochemical research on glacier meltwater. Nevertheless, systematic and quantitative analyses are lacking to investigate how this research field has developed over the years. As a result, this study is aimed at examining and evaluating recent research trends and frontiers in hydrogeochemical research on glacier meltwater throughout the previous 20 years (2002-2022) and at locating collaboration networks. This is the first global-scale study, and visualization of the key hotspots and trends in hydrogeochemical research has been presented here. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database aided in the retrieval of research publications related to hydrogeochemical research of glacier meltwater published between 2002 and 2022. From the beginning of 2002 till July 2022, 6035 publications on the hydrogeochemical study of glacier meltwater were compiled. The result revealed that the number of published papers on the hydrogeochemical study of glacier meltwater at higher altitudes had grown exponentially, with USA and China being the main research countries. The number of publications produced from the USA and China accounts for about half (50%) of all publications from the top 10 countries. Kang SC, Schwikowski M, and Tranter M are highly influential authors in hydrogeochemical research of glacier meltwater. However, the research from developed nations, particularly the United States, emphasizes hydrogeochemical research more than those from developing countries. In addition, the research on glacier meltwater's role in streamflow components is limited, particularly in the high-altitude regions and needs to be enhanced.

Objective: To overview the research actuality and offer the hotspots and cutting-edge issues in the field of Non-suicidal Self-injury (NSSI) by using bibliometric analysis. Materials and methods: Publications related to NSSI from 2002 to 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. CiteSpace V 6.1.R2 and VOSviewer 1.6.18 were used to visually analyzed institutions, countries, journals, authors, references, and keywords in research on NSSI. Results: A total of 799 studies about NSSI were analyzed via CiteSpace and VOSviewer. The number of annual publications related to NSSI is fluctuating growth. The USA and Harvard University are the most productive country and institutions. In the case of journals and co-cited journals, Psychiatry Research are the most productive journal and also ranked highest among co-cited journals. Furthermore, Michael Kaess has published the most publications, and Matthew K. Nock is the most cited author. An article published by Swannell SV et al. shows the highest citation counts. After analysis, the most common keywords are harm, adolescents and prevalence. The gender difference, diagnosis, and dysregulation are frontier areas of NSSI research. Conclusion: This study analyzed the research of NSSI from multiple perspectives, and provides valuable information for researchers to capture the current status, hot spots, and frontier trends of NSSI.

Heart failure (HF) with depression is a common comorbidity associated with worse clinical status and quality of life. Although there have been numerous high-quality studies and relevant reviews on HF comorbid with depression, few bibliometric analyses of this field have been reported. In order to understand the development process, research hotspots and future directions, this review analyzes the papers on HF comorbid with depression from January 2002 to December 2021 through CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Visual cooperative networks between countries, authors and institutions were conducted to understand the basic development status of HF comorbid with depression. Furthermore, we performed co-occurrence analysis, burst detection, and timeline analysis for keywords to understand this field's research directions and hotspots. Finally, a detailed review and analysis of the classical literature in this field were conducted based on co-citation analysis. This bibliometric analysis provides an overview of studies on HF comorbid with depression and emphasizes the research on comorbidity mechanisms and more effective interventions as a priority for future research.

Background: The mechanisms and effects of the interplay between the nerves and skeleton remain a popular research topic. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate publications on nerve-bone interactions using bibliometrics and to identify the state of the art of current research, hotspots, and future directions. Methods: This study included 1989 articles and reviews from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) published from January 1, 1991, to June 22, 2022. The Bibliometrix package of R 4.2.0 (The R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria) was used to analyze basic information about the publications, including the annual number of publications, institution analysis, author influence analysis, journal analysis, and the national cooperation network. We also used CiteSpace 5.8.R3 for bibliometric analysis, including co-occurrence, co-citation, and cluster analysis. Results: We discovered a significant increase in the number of articles on nerve-bone interactions published over the last 10 years. The most active country and institution were the United States and the University of Minnesota, respectively. In terms of journals and cocited journals, Bone was ranked highest with respect to the number of publications, while Journal of Bone and Mineral Research was ranked highest among cited journals. Wang Lei was the author with the most publications, and Bjurholm A was the most cited author. The analysis of references and keywords revealed that the impact of nerve- and neuromodulation-related factors on stem cell differentiation was a persistently hot topic. Osteoarthritis, neuropeptide Y, and osteoclastogenic process are likely to be the next era of research hotspots. The neurovascular crosstalk within bone has received great attention, especially in skeletal diseases, which may provide potential targets for future treatments. Conclusions: We used a bibliometric method to provide an efficient, objective, and comprehensive assessment of existing research about the interplay between the skeletal and nervous systems and to accurately identify hotspots and research frontiers, providing valuable information for future research.
