RESUMEN

ABSTRACT: Hidradenocarcinoma is quite rare in clinical practice. Herein, we describe the 68 Ga-FAPI and 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of hidradenocarcinoma of the head and neck in a 75-year-old man. In the present case, the primary tumor and secondary lesions showed intense accumulation of 68 Ga-FAPI but only slight 18 F-FDG uptake. This case demonstrates that 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT might be used as a helpful tool for evaluating hidradenocarcinoma.

RESUMEN

Although chondroid syringoma rarely occurs outside the head and neck, the majority of malignant chondroid syringomas are identified in the extremities. Here, we present a case of atypical chondroid syringoma in the fifth toe. Diagnosis of chondroid syringoma with atypical cells was made following initial excisional biopsy and histology, necessitating repeated surgery for positive margins. In this case report, we examine the radiopathologic correlation of this diagnosis, detail the imaging findings of benign and malignant chondroid syringomas, and highlight how magnetic resonance imaging can be used to guide surgical planning and treatment course of this potentially malignant tumor.

RESUMEN

Poroma is skin cancer that arises from the sweat gland cells. Its diagnosis could be difficult. Line-field optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) is a novel imaging technique that has shown promise in the diagnosis and monitoring of various skin conditions. We report a case of poroma diagnosed by LC-OCT.

RESUMEN

ABSTRACT: We report a case of hidradenocarcinoma, which showed only slight 18 F-FDG uptake. However, the rare sweat gland tumor demonstrated intense tracer uptake on 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT. This case demonstrates the potential value of 68 Ga-FAPI PET/CT for the evaluation of hidradenocarcinoma.

RESUMEN

Eccrine spiradenoma is a rare, benign, adnexal skin tumor of the sweat gland. It is frequently solitary and presents as a small lesion in the dermal or the subcutaneous fat layer. Eccrine spiradenomas rarely progress to malignant transformation but they can relapse. Due to its rarity, there have been few reports about the sonographic appearances of eccrine spiradenoma. Sonographic findings were reported in a relapsing case of an eccrine spiradenoma, located in the deep dermal layers and hypodermis of the preauricular region in a middle-aged man. Ultrasound was very useful to suspect the relapse. Histology was correlated with the sonography and discussed the previously reported imaging findings of eccrine spiradenoma and other sweat gland tumors.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of poroma and porocarcinoma. METHODS: Six patients (3 male, 3 female; age range, 40-84 years; mean age, 61 years) with histologically confirmed skin appendage tumors with apocrine and eccrine differentiation (2 poromas and 4 porocarcinomas) were enrolled. All patients underwent preoperative MR imaging and the MR images were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: The configurations were classified as pedunculated solid in 5 lesions and subcutaneous cystic with mural nodules in 1. Well-demarcated deep tumor margins and smooth skin surfaces were observed in all 6 lesions, and peritumoral fat stranding was observed in 2. In all 5 pedunculated solid lesions, T2-hyperintense foci, T1 hyperintensity, and homogeneous solid components were observed within the lesions. CONCLUSIONS: Poroma and porocarcinoma usually exhibited pedunculated solid homogeneous lesion. Intratumoral T2-hyperintense foci and T1 hyperintensity were observed in pedunculated solid lesions.

RESUMEN

RATIONALE: Eccrine spiradenoma (ES) is a rare benign skin adnexal tumor originating from eccrine sweat glands. The features of ES on ultrasonography (US) have received little attention. Therefore, we report the sonographic findings in a case of an ES that originated from the abdominal wall and discuss the previously reported cases. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 53-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of a painful nodule on the right side of her abdominal wall of 1-year duration. DIAGNOSES: The mass on the right side of abdominal wall was diagnosed as ES by histopathological examination. INTERVENTIONS: The patient subsequently underwent total excision of the mass. OUTCOMES: The patient recovered well and had no complications during the 1-year follow-up. LESSONS: As eccrine spiradenoma (ES) is rare and most of the tumors are excised without prior imaging studies. Little is known regarding the features of ES on ultrasonography (US). Familiarizing with the clinical and US features of this rare tumor may increase awareness of the disease among sonographers and clinicians.

RESUMEN

Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare, aggressive cancer arising from sweat glands. Hidradenocarcinoma has no definitive histologic features compared to its benign hidradenoma, thereby posing a diagnostic challenge for clinicians and pathologists. This novel case report demonstrates specific MRI signs that suggested malignant degeneration of hidradenoma.

RESUMEN

Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is a rare adnexal tumor with a predilection for the skin of the eyelid. It has also been reported in other areas of the face. Extra facial location has rarely been reported. They are twice as common in the females as compared to men and frequently affect the elderly between 50 and 80 years of age. It is a low-grade carcinoma with no reported cases of metastases, although a few cases with recurrences have been reported. Since it was first described by Flieder et al. in 1997, fewer than 60 cases have been reported in the literature. We describe one such case of EMPSGC in an adult male occurring at an unusual location, the peno-scrotal junction with systemic metastases to bilateral inguinal and iliac lymph nodes, multiple bones, and pancreas. Unlike previously reported cases, our patient worsened rapidly and succumbed to the disease six months after initiation of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of its kind in modern published literature.

RESUMEN

Primary cutaneous apocrine carcinomas are rare cutaneous adnexal neoplasm with less than 100 cases reported in the literature. The tumor arises in areas rich in apocrine glands particularly axilla, modified apocrine glands such as ceromucinous and Moll's glands. Most of these carcinomas are indolent and slowly growing but few rapidly progressive and extremely aggressive? cases have also been reported. Wide local excision with clear margins and sentinel lymph node biopsy is standard treatment of choice. This case was of much interest from the diagnostic point of view both microscopically as well as immunohistochemically. We report a case of 46-year-old man who presented to our hospital with an ulcerated painless nodular mass in his right axilla. With combined use of microscpic features, special stains and immunohistochemical examination the case was correctly diagnosed as primary cutaneous apocrine carcinoma.

RESUMEN

Apocrine hidrocystoma (AH) is a benign cystic proliferation of apocrine sweat glands that classically presents as a slow-growing nodule on the face, especially in the periorbital region. Histopathological evaluation is required to definitively diagnose an apocrine hidrocystoma. Previous studies have described apocrine hidrocystomas in unusual locations. However, the authors have identified only two reported cases of apocrine hidrocystoma in the postauricular region. We present a third case of a postauricular hidrocystoma in a 26-year-old woman, as well as a brief review of the dermoscopic findings of apocrine hidrocystomas in the existing literature.
