RESUMEN

Case report is a narrative description of the problem of one or several patients. The CARE checklist (CAse REport) is the consensus document for reporting clinical case reports and through adaptations to the different CARE disciplines is used to define standards for authors in scientific journals; however, the specificity of the nursing process makes it difficult to adjust nursing case reports to CARE. The aim was to analyze the publications of clinical cases with a nursing perspective in scientific journals, as well as the quality standards and evaluation systems used. Few journals reviewed agreed to publish nursing case reports or stated standards for authors to adjust to CARE. Preliminary results indicated average or poor adherence to CARE, with the most reported elements being: Keywords, patient information and introduction. Adherence was lower for the elements: Timeline, therapeutic intervention, follow-up and outcomes, and patient perspective. The characteristics of the nursing process implies a low adherence to CARE, so it is necessary to unify criteria to guide researchers, authors, reviewers and editors of scientific journals, as well as to improve the rigor and quality of the reports. Currently, there are no specific guidelines for reporting clinical case reports with a nursing perspective available. These normative gaps could be solved by developing a CARE extension adapted to the methodological characteristics of the nursing process.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To validate the content of an evaluation matrix for the nursing process in the hospital context. METHOD: A methodological study conducted in four stages, carried out from March to December 2022. Including: bibliographic research and selection of structuring foundations; construction of the logical model and analysis and judgment matrix; content validation by a committee of judges (n=11) using the Delphi technique; analysis of content validation data by calculating the Concordance Rate and Content Validity Index. RESULTS: At the end of the two rounds, the matrix had a concordance rate of 90% regarding format and 100% regarding other structural aspects. It also had a 100% concordance rate regarding the scope and representativeness of the matrix domains. Regarding the average Content Validity Index, the values were 0.97 and 0.98, for clarity and representativeness, respectively. CONCLUSION: The evaluation matrix - consisting of four dimensions and fourteen evaluation items referring to the necessary stages for the implementation and operationalization of the nursing process - demonstrated excellent content validity, which can contribute to supporting institutional initiatives for its consolidation in hospital nursing services.

RESUMEN

This study was based on the Kano model and rely on the Internet hospital to build a day surgery patient full-process nursing service platform. Based on the Internet hospital's HIS system, nursing Yuanzhuo system, patient mobile terminal (WeChat) and other information systems. The platform was designed by following the WHO's conceptual framework for developing a scaling-up strategy. It was tested and refined by a pilot in a hospital in China. The full-process care platform for day surgery patients realizes information interconnection and interoperability of patient surgical consultation, surgical inquiries, and postoperative follow-up. It consists of a WeChat applet (client) and an online website (server). Pre-experiment results show that patients are more likely to recommend the hospital's day surgery to others. The mHealth-based perioperative full-process nursing service platform for day surgery patients can initially meet the health education needs, surgical consultation needs and follow-up needs of day surgery patients.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Review of the ISO 18104 technical standard for a Nursing Categorial structure to best represent nursing practice in EMR/EHRs and digital health ecosystems. METHODS: Application of ISO standard review guidelines in consultation with ISO member stakeholders. RESULTS: Comprehensive views of the nursing practice knowledge domain are presented as mindmaps. Groups of patients can now be identified using the 'type of subject of care' category. The collaborative role of nurses is now recognized. This high level structured information model recognises nursing diagnosis, nursing actions and nurse sensitive outcomes relative to other categories and sub-categories known to influence nursing actions and nurse sensitive outcomes. DISCUSSION: This nursing practice framework reflects the nursing process. It supports conceptual and logical analysis of patient journey related nursing practice. CONCLUSION: This updated categorial structure is a good fit with today's information technologies. Its adoption enables the value of nursing services provided to be demonstrated.

RESUMEN

Problem-based learning (PBL) plays a pivotal role in improving the clinical competency of nursing students. We identified the effect of PBL-integrative nursing process (PBL-INP) education on teamwork, problem-solving ability, confidence in nursing process, and critical thinking disposition among nursing students. This study used a one-group pre-post-test design to verify the effects of the program. Participants were 78 second-year students from a nursing school located in Chungcheong-do, South Korea. The program was performed for eight weeks from May 1 to June 23, 2023. There were significant differences in teamwork (t = 3.76, p < .001) and problem-solving ability (t = 2.27, p = .025) before and after the PBL-INP. There was a significant difference in the confidence in the nursing process (t = 6.09, p < .001) and critical thinking disposition (t = 2.46, p = .016) before and after the intervention. The PBL-INP was effective in improving teamwork, problem-solving ability, confidence in nursing process, and clinical thinking disposition among second-year nursing students.: The PBL-INP was an effective educational method, and this study provides basic data to improve nursing students' nursing process learning ability.

RESUMEN

The aim is to conduct theoretical reflection on the inseparability among public health, planetary health and the nursing process in light of complexity thinking, with the aim of contributing to healthy and sustainable development. Study with a theoretical-reflexive approach that accessed bibliographical sources from contemporary authors who defend the inseparability between public health and planetary health and, at the same time, provide theoretical-systemic support to the nursing process, under an inductive critical bias. The nursing process is conceived as a complex phenomenon, which comprises interdependent dynamics, dialogical approaches, critical-reflective perception and prospective leadership. Theoretical reflection on the nursing process and sustainable development raises an expanded, contextualized and interdependent look at the role of nursing professionals in different health contexts, in order not to compromise well-being and environmental health.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze nurses' practice in child health nursing consultations and the presence of care management competencies proposed for Advanced Practice Nurses (APN). METHOD: Multicenter, exploratory sequential mixed methods research, carried out in 17 Basic Health Units in four Brazilian cities. Collection was carried out from May to July 2022 through filming of consultation and analysis of medical records. Consultations with compliance with the Nursing Process ≥50% were analyzed to identify the competencies proposed for APN. RESULTS: 24 child consultations carried out by 12 nurses were filmed. In the quantitative analysis, 11 nursing consultations, carried out by seven nurses, achieved ≥50% Nursing Process compliance. In the qualitative analysis of these consultations, some APN competencies in care management were identified, but incomplete. CONCLUSION: child health nursing consultations present weaknesses in carrying out the Nursing Process, and nurses demonstrated a partial and superficial application of the care management competencies proposed for APN.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To reflect on the contributions of representing nursing practice elements in the ISO 18.104:2023 standard. METHOD: This is a theoretical study with standard analysis. Categorical structures were described to represent nursing practice in terminological systems and contributions identified in the parts of the version were analyzed. RESULTS: There is innovation in the inclusion of nurse sensitive outcomes, nursing action, nursing diagnosis explanation as an indicator of nursing service demand and complexity of care, representation of concepts through mental maps and suggestion of use of restriction models for nursing actions. It describes that the Nursing Process is constituted by nursing diagnosis, nursing action and nurse sensitive outcomes. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Indicating a nursing diagnosis as an indicator will bring benefits for knowledge production and decision-making. Although care outcomes are not exclusive responses to nursing action, the modifiable attributes of a nursing diagnosis generate knowledge about clinical practice, nursing action effectiveness and subjects of care' health state. There is coherence in understanding the Nursing Process concept evolution.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: to describe Nurses' perception of the Nursing Process and its relationship with leadership. METHODS: action research conducted between September/2021 and April/2022 with nurses from a medium-sized hospital in southern Brazil. The data investigated, one of the stages of the method, was collected using the Focus Group technique and submitted to Strategic Focus Analysis. RESULTS: three categories emerged from the organized and analyzed data, namely: Nursing Process: a tool that qualifies nursing care; Conditions that weaken the Nursing Process; and Strategies that enhance the Systematization of Nursing Care. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: the perception of the Nursing Process and its relationship with leadership are not always understood as complementary themes. Although they recognize that the Nursing Process is sometimes imposed as normative, nurses do not perceive the importance of the role of the leader, who is considered a key player in conducting and boosting the Systematization of Nursing Care.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Various quantitative and quality assessment tools are currently used in nursing to evaluate a patient's physiological, psychological, and socioeconomic status. The results play important roles in evaluating the efficiency of healthcare, improving the treatment plans, and lowing relevant clinical risks. However, the manual process of the assessment imposes a substantial burden and can lead to errors in digitalization. To fill these gaps, we proposed an automatic nursing assessment system based on clinical decision support system (CDSS). The framework underlying the CDSS included experts, evaluation criteria, and voting roles for selecting electronic assessment sheets over paper ones. METHODS: We developed the framework based on an expert voting flow to choose electronic assessment sheets. The CDSS was constructed based on a nursing process workflow model. A multilayer architecture with independent modules was used. The performance of the proposed system was evaluated by comparing the adverse events' incidence and the average time for regular daily assessment before and after the implementation. RESULTS: After implementation of the system, the adverse nursing events' incidence decreased significantly from 0.43 % to 0.37 % in the first year and further to 0.27 % in the second year (p-value: 0.04). Meanwhile, the median time for regular daily assessments further decreased from 63 s to 51 s. CONCLUSIONS: The automatic assessment system helps to reduce nurses' workload and the incidence of adverse nursing events.

RESUMEN

Objective: to test the factorial structure, reliability and convergent validity of the Functional Health Pattern Assessment Screening Tool - Modified Brazilian Version. Method: this was a psychometric evaluation of the Functional Health Pattern Assessment Screening Tool - Modified Brazilian Version. Seven hundred and seventeen participants answered the data collection instrument consisting of two parts. Part I included a structured questionnaire to collect sociodemographic data and the participants' perceptions and satisfaction with their current health status. Part II consisted of the tool being tested. The internal structure was assessed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Convergent validity was evaluated by the correlation of the tool scores with the rates corresponding to self-perception and satisfaction with current health status. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Results: the Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed a three-factor solution. The factor loadings were significant and varied from 0.16 to 0.75; the fit indices suggested moderate fit of the model. Internal consistency for all three components varied between 0.779 and 0.919. Conclusion: the findings suggest that the tool is valid and reliable to be used in the Brazilian population, although caution is recommended when interpreting the results due to the moderate fit of the model.

Objetivo: testar a estrutura fatorial, a confiabilidade e a validade convergente do Functional Health Pattern Assessment Screening Tool - Versão Brasileira Modificada. Método: avaliação psicométrica do Functional Health Pattern Assessment Screening Tool - Versão Brasileira Modificada. Setecentos e dezessete participantes responderam os itens do instrumento de coleta de dados composto por duas partes. A Parte I incluiu um questionário estruturado contendo dados sociodemográficos e a percepção e satisfação dos participantes com seu estado de saúde atual. A Parte II consistiu no instrumento testado.

Objective: to describe the process of developing a terminological subset for the International Classification of Nursing Practice in Diabetes Mellitus, based on Horta's Basic Human Needs Theory and Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory. Method: a methodological study based on the identification in the literature of 313 statements of nursing diagnoses pertinent to diabetes care, selected and validated by a consensus of nurses from different states of Brazil, specialists in diabetes, using the nominal group technique. Results: 156 nursing diagnosis/result statements were selected, of which 111 (71.15%) related to psychobiological needs, 42 (26.92%) to psychosocial needs and three (1.92%) to psychospiritual needs. A total of 433 nursing interventions were developed. The diagnostic statements were validated on the basis of a consensus among the experts, with an average content validity index of 0.89: 0.87 for psychobiological needs, 0.93 for psychosocial needs, and 0.77 for psychospiritual needs. Conclusion: the study validated the terminological subset for the International Classification of Nursing Practice in Diabetes, favoring clinical reasoning, the qualification of the Nursing Process, and the improvement of self-care practices in diabetes. It has made it possible to use nursing's own language based on a globally recognized classification.
