RESUMO

Background: Tremor disorders have various genetic causes. Case report: A 60-year-old female with a family history of tremor presented a combined tremor syndrome, transient episodes of loss of contact and speech disturbances, as well as distal painful symptoms. Genetic screening revealed a novel heterozygous missense variant in the KCNQ2 gene. Discussion: The KCNQ2 protein regulates action potential firing, and mutations in its gene are associated with epilepsy and neuropathic pain. The identified variant, although of uncertain significance, may disrupt KCNQ2 function and also play a role in tremor pathogenesis. This case highlights the importance of genetic screening in combined tremor disorders.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the presence of sexual dysfunction (SD) in patients with Chronic Venous Disease (CVD) and if CVD treatments may have an impact on SD evolution in these patients. Methods: Inclusion criteria were patients of both sexes and genders, with minimum age of 18, with first diagnosis of CVD. Exclusion criteria were presence of known sexual dysfunction of organic origin, arterial system diseases, malignancies and endocrine system diseases. Included patients were administered the ASEX (Arizona Sexual Experience) questionnaire that was administered at the moment of study inclusion (T0), and for patients that resulted affected from sexual dysfunction, were administered also, after CVD treatments at 6 months (T1) and after 12 months (T2). Results: A total of 649 patients with CVD were recruited. After the administration of the ASEX questionnaire, 122 patients (18.8 %) resulted affected from SD. Female sex, C3-C6 clinical stages, and the presence of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), hypertension, and hyperlipidemia were more associated with the presence of SD. SD improved in all patients' population, especially after CVD treatment at T2. Conclusions: CVD patients may experience SD, especially in female sex, in more advanced disease stages. SD in CVD patients appears to improve after adequate CVD treatment.

This review focuses on the use of conventional gel or coil and "new" generation hydrogel used as an embolic agent in endovascular applications. In general, embolic agents have deep or multidistrict vascular penetration properties as they ensure complete occlusion of vessels by exploiting the patient's coagulation system, which recognises them as substances foreign to the body, thus triggering the coagulation cascade. This is why they are widely used in the treatment of endovascular corrections (EV repair), arteriovenous malformations (AVM), endoleaks (E), visceral aneurysms or pseudo-aneurysms, and embolisation of pre-surgical or post-surgical (iatrogenic) lesions. Conventional gels such as Onyx or coils are now commercially available, both of which are frequently used in endovascular interventional procedures, as they are minimally invasive and have numerous advantages over conventional open repair (OR) surgery. Recently, these agents have been modified and optimised to develop new embolic substances in the form of hydrogels based on alginate, chitosan, fibroin and other polymers to ensure embolisation through phase transition phenomena. The main aim of this work was to expand on the data already known in the literature concerning the application of these devices in the endovascular field, focusing on the advantages, disadvantages and safety profiles of conventional and innovative embolic agents and also through some clinical cases reported. The clinical case series concerns the correction and exclusion of endoleak type I or type II appeared after an endovascular procedure of exclusion of aneurysmal abdominal aortic (EVAR) with a coil (coil penumbra released by a LANTERN microcatheter), the exclusion of renal arterial malformation (MAV) with a coil (penumbra coil released by a LANTERN microcatheter) and the correction of endoleak through the application of Onyx 18 in the arteries where sealing by the endoprosthesis was not guaranteed.

BACKGROUND: Subtle parkinsonian signs, i.e., rest tremor and bradykinesia, are considered soft signs for defining essential tremor (ET) plus. OBJECTIVES: Our study aimed to further characterize subtle parkinsonian signs in a relatively large sample of ET patients from a clinical and neurophysiological perspective. METHODS: We employed clinical scales and kinematic techniques to assess a sample of 82 ET patients. Eighty healthy controls matched for gender and age were also included. The primary focus of our study was to conduct a comparative analysis of ET patients (without any soft signs) and ET-plus patients with rest tremor and/or bradykinesia. Additionally, we investigated the asymmetry and side concordance of these soft signs. RESULTS: In ET-plus patients with parkinsonian soft signs (56.10% of the sample), rest tremor was clinically observed in 41.30% of cases, bradykinesia in 30.43%, and rest tremor plus bradykinesia in 28.26%. Patients with rest tremor had more severe and widespread action tremor than other patients. Furthermore, we observed a positive correlation between the amplitude of action and rest tremor. Most ET-plus patients had an asymmetry of rest tremor and bradykinesia. There was no side concordance between these soft signs, as confirmed through both clinical examination and kinematic evaluation. CONCLUSIONS: Rest tremor and bradykinesia are frequently observed in ET and are often asymmetric but not concordant. Our findings provide a better insight into the phenomenology of ET and suggest that the parkinsonian soft signs (rest tremor and bradykinesia) in ET-plus may originate from distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disorder that causes changes in both the structure and function of the kidneys, causing complications such as hypertension, edema, and oliguria. Renal fibrosis is also a common pathological feature of CKD. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are endopeptidases that degrade extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The proteinase domain consists of a zinc ion in the active site, which contributes to its stabilization with another zinc and three calcium structural ions. Many cellular processes are controlled by MMPs, such as cell-cell interactions and various signaling pathways, while they are also involved in degrading substrates on cell surfaces. Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are key regulators of metalloproteinases, and both are involved in regulating cell turnover, the regulation, and the progression of fibrosis and apoptosis in the tissue. MMPs play a role in renal fibrosis, such as the tubular cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition (TEM), activation of resident fibroblasts, endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT), and pericyte-myofibroblast transdifferentiation. This review aims to show the mechanisms through which MMPs contribute to renal fibrosis, paying particular attention to MMP-9 and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

Essential tremor (ET) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by bilateral upper limbs action tremor and, possibly, neurological signs of uncertain significance, including voluntary movement abnormalities and cognitive disturbances, i.e., the so-called 'soft' signs configuring the ET-plus definition. While motor and cognitive disturbances often coexist in ET, their interrelationship remains largely unexplored. Here we aim to further investigate the relationship between motor symptoms, objectively assessed through kinematic analysis, and cognitive dysfunctions in ET. Seventy ET patients underwent clinical examination, as well as kinematic recordings of tremor and finger tapping and a thorough cognitive assessment. We then tested clinic-demographic and kinematic differences between patients with and without cognitive abnormalities, i.e., with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Correlation analysis served to explore potential associations between kinematic and cognitive data. Forty-three ET patients (61.42%) had MCI. ET-MCI patients exhibited reduced movement velocity during finger tapping compared to those with normal cognition (p < 0.001). Lower movement velocity during finger tapping was associated with poorer cognitive performance. Namely, we observed a correlation between movement velocity and performance on the Babcock Story Immediate and Delayed Recall Test (r = 0.52 and r = 0.45, both p < 0.001), as well as the interference memory task at 10 and 30 s (r = 0.3, p = 0.008 and r = 0.2, p = 0.03). In this study, we have provided data for a better pathophysiological interpretation of motor and cognitive signs in ET, including the role played by the cerebellum or extra-cerebellar areas, which possibly underpin both signs.

In patients with Parkinson's disease, the connectivity between the two primary motor cortices may be altered. However, the correlation between asymmetries of abnormal interhemispheric connections and bradykinesia features has not been investigated. Furthermore, the potential effects of dopaminergic medications on this issue remain largely unclear. The aim of the present study is to investigate the interhemispheric connections in Parkinson's disease by transcranial magnetic stimulation and explore the potential relationship between interhemispheric inhibition and bradykinesia feature asymmetry in patients. Additionally, we examined the impact of dopaminergic therapy on neurophysiological and motor characteristics. Short- and long-latency interhemispheric inhibition was measured in 18 Parkinson's disease patients and 18 healthy controls, bilaterally. We also assessed the corticospinal and intracortical excitability of both primary motor cortices. We conducted an objective analysis of finger-tapping from both hands. Correlation analyses were performed to explore potential relationships among clinical, transcranial magnetic stimulation and kinematic data in patients. We found that short- and long-latency interhemispheric inhibition was reduced (less inhibition) from both hemispheres in patients than controls. Compared to controls, finger-tapping movements in patients were slower, more irregular, of smaller amplitudes and characterized by a progressive amplitude reduction during movement repetition (sequence effect). Among Parkinson's disease patients, the degree of short-latency interhemispheric inhibition imbalance towards the less affected primary motor cortex correlated with the global clinical motor scores, as well as with the sequence effect on the most affected hand. The greater the interhemispheric inhibition imbalance towards the less affected hemisphere (i.e. less inhibition from the less to the most affected primary motor cortex than that measured from the most to the less affected primary motor cortex), the more severe the bradykinesia in patients. In conclusion, the inhibitory connections between the two primary motor cortices in Parkinson's disease are reduced. The interhemispheric disinhibition of the primary motor cortex may have a role in the pathophysiology of specific bradykinesia features in patients, i.e. the sequence effect.

BACKGROUND: Carotid artery stenting (CAS) using first-generation single-layer stents is widely accepted as a good alternative to standard carotid endarterectomy (CEA) but it is associated with worse outcomes in terms of both plaque prolapse and cerebral embolization. AIM: To evaluate the perioperative and midterm outcomes of CAS using the new-generation RoadsaverTM dual-layer micromesh-covered carotid stent. METHODS: Herein, we present the results of an observational, retrospective, multicentric study on non-consecutive patients who underwent the CAS procedure between January 2017 and December 2022 at three Italian, high-volume vascular surgery centers. The inclusion criteria were the patients' eligibility for the CAS procedure in accordance with the current Italian guidelines, and the implantation of a Roadsaver stent. Both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients were included in the study. The patients requiring reintervention for carotid restenosis following CEA were also included. Perioperative data regarding procedural success was defined as the successful implantation of the device in the desired position, less than 30% residual stenosis, and the absence of intraoperative neurological complications. The primary outcome was any adverse cerebrovascular event such as stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) during the procedure and/or after discharge. The secondary outcomes were the need for further intervention, and all-cause death following procedure. RESULTS: Three-hundred-fifty-three (353) patients were included in our study; the mean age was 74.3 years. A total of 5.9% of the patients were symptomatic on their operated side, while 7.3% had contralateral carotid occlusion. A cerebral embolic protection device (CPD) was employed in all patients. A total of 13.3% of the patients were operated on for restenosis after CEA Technical success was achieved in 96.9% of the cases with an intraoperative report of six TIAs (1.7%) and six ipsilateral strokes (1.7%). The mean hospital stay was 1.8 days. The thirty-day follow up showed one TIA and one more stroke. At the mean 35-month follow-up time, the primary outcome was present in six patients (1.7%), where four TIAs (1.1%) and two strokes (0.5%) were reported. Restenosis occurred in five patients (1.4%). Death for any cause was reported in 11 patients (3.1%). CONCLUSIONS: As most recent, high-quality studies show, the CAS procedure with second-generation devices such as the Roadsaver stent is safe and effective in preventing carotid-related cerebrovascular events in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. The intraoperative and postoperative cerebrovascular complication rate in high volume centers is very low, ensuring confidence in its employment for the CAS procedure along with a CPD as a valid alternative to CEA.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of cerebellar transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) delivered at cerebellar-resonant frequencies, i.e., theta (θ) and gamma (γ), on upper limb motor performance and cerebellum-primary motor cortex (M1) connectivity, as assessed by cerebellar-brain inhibition (CBI), in healthy subjects. METHODS: Participants underwent cerebellar-tACS while performing three cerebellar-dependent motor tasks: (i) rhythmic finger-tapping, (ii) arm reaching-to-grasp ('grasping') and (iii) arm reaching-to-point ('pointing') an object. Also, we evaluated possible changes in CBI during cerebellar-tACS. RESULTS: θ-tACS decreased movement regularity during the tapping task and increased the duration of the pointing task compared to sham- and γ-tACS. Additionally, θ-tACS increased the CBI effectiveness (greater inhibition). The effect of θ-tACS on movement rhythm correlated with CBI changes and less tapping regularity corresponded to greater CBI. CONCLUSIONS: Cerebellar-tACS delivered at the θ frequency modulates cerebellar-related motor behavior and this effect is, at least in part, mediated by changes in the cerebellar inhibitory output onto M1. The effects of θ-tACS may be due to the modulation of cerebellar neurons that resonate to the θ rhythm. SIGNIFICANCE: These findings contribute to a better understanding of the physiological mechanisms of motor control and provide new evidence on cerebellar non-invasive brain stimulation.

Metalloproteinases (MPs) are zinc-dependent enzymes with proteolytic activity and a variety of functions in the pathophysiology of human diseases. The main objectives of this review are to analyze a specific family of MPs, the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), in the most common chronic and complex diseases that affect patients' social lives and to better understand the nature of the associations between MMPs and the psychosocial environment. In accordance with the PRISMA extension for a scoping review, an examination was carried out. A collection of 24 studies was analyzed, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of MMP and their connection to the manifestation of social aspects in human disease. The complexity of the relationship between MMP and social problems is presented via an interdisciplinary approach based on complexity paradigm as a new approach for conceptualizing knowledge in health research. Finally, two implications emerge from the study: first, the psychosocial states of individuals have a profound impact on their overall health and disease conditions, which implies the importance of adopting a holistic perspective on human well-being, encompassing both physical and psychosocial aspects. Second, the use of MPs as biomarkers may provide physicians with valuable tools for a better understanding of disease when used in conjunction with "sociomarkers" to develop mathematical predictive models.

BACKGROUND: Opicapone (OPC) is a third-generation, selective peripheral COMT inhibitor that improves peripheral L-DOPA bioavailability and reduces OFF time and end-of-dose motor fluctuations in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients. OBJECTIVES: In this study, we objectively assessed the effects of adding OPC to L-DOPA on bradykinesia in PD through kinematic analysis of finger movements. METHODS: We enrolled 20 treated patients with PD and motor fluctuations. Patients underwent two experimental sessions (L-DOPA, L-DOPA + OPC), separated by at least 1 week. In each session, patients were clinically evaluated and underwent kinematic movement analysis of repetitive finger movements at four time points: (i) before their usual morning dose of L-DOPA (T0), (ii) 30 min (T1), (iii) 1 h and 30 min (T2), and (iv) 3 h and 30 min after the L-DOPA intake (T3). RESULTS: Movement velocity and amplitude of finger movements were higher in PD patients during the session with OPC compared to the session without OPC at all the time points tested. Importantly, the variability of finger movement velocity and amplitude across T0-T3 was significantly lower in the L-DOPA + OPC than L-DOPA session. CONCLUSIONS: This study is the first objective assessment of the effects of adding OPC to L-DOPA on bradykinesia in patients with PD and motor fluctuations. OPC, in addition to the standard dopaminergic therapy, leads to significant improvements in bradykinesia during clinically relevant periods associated with peripheral L-DOPA dynamics, i.e., the OFF state in the morning, delayed-ON, and wearing-OFF periods.

Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) are neurodegenerative disorders with some overlapping clinical features. Hypomimia (reduced facial expressivity) is a prominent sign of PD and it is also present in AD. However, no study has experimentally assessed hypomimia in AD and compared facial expressivity between PD and AD patients. We compared facial emotion expressivity in patients with PD, AD, and healthy controls (HCs). Twenty-four PD patients, 24 AD patients and 24 HCs were videotaped during neutral facial expressions and while posing six facial emotions (anger, surprise, disgust, fear, happiness, and sadness). Fifteen raters were asked to evaluate the videos using MDS-UPDRS-III (item 3.2) and to identify the corresponding emotion from a seven-forced-choice response format. We measured the percentage of accuracy, the reaction time (RT), and the confidence level (CL) in the perceived accuracy of the raters' responses. We found the highest MDS-UPDRS 3.2 scores in PD, and higher in AD than HCs. When evaluating the posed expression captures, raters identified a lower percentage of correct answers in the PD and AD groups than HCs. There was no difference in raters' response accuracy between the PD and AD. No difference was observed in RT and CL data between groups. Hypomimia in patients correlated positively with the global MDS-UPDRS-III and negatively with Mini Mental State Examination scores. PD and AD patients have a similar pattern of reduced facial emotion expressivity compared to controls. These findings hold potential pathophysiological and clinical implications.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have emerged as the most representative application of blockchain technology in recent years, fostering the development of the Web3. Nonetheless, while the interest in NFTs rapidly boomed, creating unprecedented fervour in traders and creators, the demand for highly representative and up-to-date data to shed light on such an intriguing yet complex domain mostly remained unmet. To pursue this objective, we introduce a large collection of NFT transactions and associated metadata that correspond to trading operations between 2021 and 2023. Our developed dataset is the most extensive and representative in the NFT landscape to date, as it contains more than 70 M transactions performed by more than 6 M users across 36.3 M NFTs and 281 K collections. Moreover, this dataset boasts a wealth of metadata, including encoded textual descriptions and multimedia content, thus being suitable for a plethora of tasks relevant to database systems, AI, data science, Web and network science fields. This dataset represents a unique resource for researchers and industry practitioners to delve into the inner workings of NFTs through a multitude of perspectives, paving the way for unprecedented opportunities across multiple research fields.

This review examines the impact of childhood obesity on the kidney from an epidemiological, pathogenetic, clinical, and pathological perspective, with the aim of providing pediatricians and nephrologists with the most current data on this topic. The prevalence of childhood obesity and chronic kidney disease (CKD) is steadily increasing worldwide, reaching epidemic proportions. While the impact of obesity in children with CKD is less pronounced than in adults, recent studies suggest a similar trend in the child population. This is likely due to the significant association between obesity and the two leading causes of end-stage renal disease (ESRD): diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension. Obesity is a complex, systemic disease that reflects interactions between environmental and genetic factors. A key mechanism of kidney damage is related to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Therefore, we can speculate about an adipose tissue-kidney axis in which neurohormonal and immunological mechanisms exacerbate complications resulting from obesity. Adipose tissue, now recognized as an endocrine organ, secretes cytokines called adipokines that may induce adaptive or maladaptive responses in renal cells, leading to kidney fibrosis. The impact of obesity on kidney transplant-related outcomes for both donors and recipients is also significant, making stringent preventive measures critical in the pre- and post-transplant phases. The challenge lies in identifying renal involvement as early as possible, as it is often completely asymptomatic and not detectable through common markers of kidney function. Ongoing research into innovative technologies, such as proteomics and metabolomics, aims to identify new biomarkers and is constantly evolving. Many aspects of pediatric disease progression in the population of children with obesity still require clarification. However, the latest scientific evidence in the field of nephrology offers glimpses into various new perspectives, such as genetic factors, comorbidities, and novel biomarkers. Investigating these aspects early could potentially improve the prognosis of these young patients through new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Hence, the aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive exploration of the pathogenetic mechanisms and prevalent pathological patterns of kidney damage observed in children with obesity.

INTRODUCTION: In this research, our primary objective was to explore the correlation between basal ganglia dopaminergic neurotransmission, assessed using 123I-FP-CIT (DAT-SPECT), and finger movements abnormalities in patients with essential tremor (ET) and Parkinson's disease (PD). METHODS: We enrolled 16 patients with ET, 17 with PD, and 18 healthy controls (HC). Each participant underwent comprehensive clinical evaluations, kinematic assessments of finger tapping. ET and PD patients underwent DAT-SPECT imaging. The DAT-SPECT scans were subjected to both visual and semi-quantitative analysis using DaTQUANT®. We then investigated the correlations between the clinical, kinematic, and DAT-SPECT data, in patients. RESULTS: Our findings confirm that individuals with ET exhibited slower finger tapping than HC. Visual evaluation of radiotracer uptake in both striata demonstrated normal levels within the ET patient cohort, while PD patients displayed reduced uptake. However, there was notable heterogeneity in the quantification of uptake within the striata among ET patients. Additionally, we found a correlation between the amount of radiotracer uptake in the striatum and movement velocity during finger tapping in patients. Specifically, lower radioligand uptake corresponded to decreased movement velocity (ET: coef. = 0.53, p-adj = 0.03; PD: coef. = 0.59, p-adj = 0.01). CONCLUSION: The study's findings suggest a potential link between subtle changes in central dopaminergic tone and altered voluntary movement execution, in ET. These results provide further insights into the pathophysiology of ET. However, longitudinal studies are essential to determine whether the slight reduction in dopaminergic tone observed in ET patients represents a distinct subtype of the disease or could serve as a predictor for the clinical progression into PD.

BACKGROUND: Endovascular intervention is now the primary line of therapy for arterial injury brought on by pelvic trauma since it can significantly reduce considerable morbidity associated with surgery and can swiftly access and control bleeding sites. Despite international guidelines and widespread awareness of the role of angioembolization in clinical practice, robust evidence comparing the outcomes of angioembolization in hemodynamically stable and unstable patients is still lacking. This study aims to directly compare the outcomes of angioembolization for the treatment of pelvic traumatic arterial injury in patients with hemodynamic stability vs. hemodynamic instability. METHODS: In our multicenter retrospective investigation, we analyzed data from consecutive patients who underwent, from January 2020 to May 2023, angioembolization for traumatic pelvic arterial injury. RESULTS: In total, 116 angioembolizations were performed. Gelatin sponges (56.9%) and coils (25.9%) were the most widely used embolic agents. The technical and clinical success rates were 100% and 91.4%, respectively. No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of technical success, clinical success, procedure-related complication rate, or 30-day bleeding-related mortality. CONCLUSIONS: Angioembolization is an effective and safe option for the management of traumatic pelvic arterial lesions even in hemodynamically unstable patients, despite technical variations such as greater use of prophylactic angioembolization.

Background and Objectives: Treatment of visceral artery pseudoaneurysms (VAPs) is always indicated regardless of their diameters, as their risk of rupture is significantly higher than that of visceral artery aneurysms. The invasiveness of surgery and its associated complications have led to a shift in favor of radiological interventions as the initial treatment of choice. However, there are still some unanswered questions on endovascular treatment of VAPs regarding the optimal endovascular technique and the efficacy and safety outcomes. The purpose of this multicenter study was to retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness and safety of endovascular treatment of visceral pseudoaneurysms using Ethylene-Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH) Copolymer-Based Non-Adhesive Liquid Embolic Agents (NALEAs). Materials and Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent endovascular embolization with EVOH-based NALEAs for visceral artery pseudoaneurysms between January 2018 and June 2023 were retrospectively evaluated. Results: 38 embolizations were performed. Technical success was achieved in all patients. The clinical success rate was high (92.1% overall), with no significant differences between ruptured and unruptured VAPs (p = 0.679). Seven patients (18.4%) experienced procedure-related complications, related to one case of non-target embolization, four splenic abscesses due to end-organ infarction, and two femoral pseudoaneurysms. The rates of procedure-related complications, end-organ infarction, and vascular access-site complications did not significantly differ between ruptured and unruptured VAPs (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Both ruptured and unruptured visceral pseudoaneurysms can be effectively and safely treated with NALEA-based endovascular embolization. We suggest considering the use of NALEAs, particularly in specific clinical cases that highlight their advantages, including patients with coagulopathy, fragile vessels, and embolization targets that are located at a considerable distance from the microcatheter tip and are otherwise difficult to reach.

Hyperkalemia (HK) is a life-threatening condition that often occurs in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). High serum potassium (sKsK) is responsible for a higher risk of end-stage renal disease, arrhythmias and mortality. This risk increases in patients that discontinue cardio-nephroprotective renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitor (RAASi) therapy after developing HK. Hence, the management of HK deserves the attention of the clinician in order to optimize the therapeutic strategies of chronic treatment of HK in the CKD patient. The adoption in clinical practice of the new hypokalaemic agents patiromer and sodium zirconium cyclosilicate (SZC) for the prevention and chronic treatment of HK could allow patients, suffering from heart failure and chronic renal failure, to continue to benefit from RAASi therapy. We have updated a narrative review of the clear variables, correct definition, epidemiology, pathogenesis, etiology and classifications for HK among non-dialysis CKD (ND CKD) patients. Furthermore, by describing the prognostic impact on mortality and on the progression of renal damage, we want to outline the strategies currently available for the control of potassium (K+) plasma levels.
