RESUMO
1. The Wulong goose is a Chinese breed and a source of high-quality meat and eggs. A characteristic of the Wulong goose is that a proportion of the birds do not have eyelids, known as the Huoyon trait.2. Wulong geese exhibiting the Huoyan trait at embryonic stages of 9 days (E9), 12 days (E12) and 14 days (E14) were selected alongside those with normal eyelids for comprehensive transcriptome sequencing. Differentially expressed gene (DEG) and functional enrichment analyses were performed and finally, eight DEG were chosen to verify the accuracy of qPCR sequencing.3. Overall, 466, 962 and 550 DEG were obtained from the three control groups, D9 vs. N9, D12 vs. N12 and D14 vs. N14, respectively, by differential analysis (p < 0.05). CDKN1C, CRH, CROCC and TYSND1 were significantly expressed in the three groups. Enrichment analysis revealed the enrichment of CROCC and TYSND1 in pathways of cell cycle process, endocytosis, microtubule-based process, microtubule organising centre organisation, protein processing and protein maturation. CDKN1C and CRH were enriched in the cell cycle and cAMP signalling pathway.4. Some collagen family genes were detected among the DEGs, including COL3A1, COL4A5, COL4A2 and COL4A1. FREM1 and FREM2 genes were detected in both Huoyan and normal eyelids. There was a significant difference (p < 0.01) in FREM1 expression between ED9 and ED14 in female embryos, but this difference was not observed in male embryos.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of over-the-top (OTT) reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) combined with the modified Lemaire technique in one-stage ACL revision. Methods: It's a retrospective study. The clinical data of 37 patients who underwent one-stage revision of ACL using OTT combined with modified Lemaire technique from April 2020 to May 2023 in the Department of Sports Medicine of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Dalian University were retrospectively analyzed. There were 28 males and 9 females with a mean age of (32.7±5.7) years. The postoperative knee function and surgical revision effect were evaluated by subjective and objective evaluation indexes of the knee joint before and 3 months and 24 months after surgery. The subjective evaluation indexes included the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, Lysholm score, and Tegner score; and the objective evaluation indexes included the anterior-posterior static displacement distance of the tibia, tibia-femur relative rotation angle, the Lachman test, the axial shift test, and the ratio of the loss of muscle strength of the lower limb. Results: At the final follow-up, all patients returned to pre-injury motor level, with significant improvements in IKDC scores (45.3±6.8 preoperatively, 67.5±4.7 and 93.2±2.3 at 3 months and 2 years after the operation, respectively), Lysholm scores (57.2±2.6 preoperatively, 72.6±2.9 and 89.7±3.7 at 3 months and 2 years after the operation, respectively), and Tegner scores (3.1±0.7 preoperatively, 4.9±0.6 and 5.8±1.3 at 3 months and 2 years after the operation, respectively) (all P<0.001). The anterior-posterior static displacement distance of the tibia reduced significantly [from (5.2±0.5) mm before the operation to (1.4±0.5) mm at 2 years postoperatively) (P<0.001)]; and the relative rotation angle of the tibia-femur restored to the normal physiological range, it was reduced from 6.2°±1.2° before the operation to 1.7°±0.3° 2 years after (P<0.001). The Lachman test and axial shift test at 2 years postoperatively were all negative. The muscle strength loss ratio of the affected lower limb was significantly better than that before the operation (P<0.001). Conclusion: The use of OTT reconstruction combined with modified Lemaire technique for revision of ACL in patients with ACL reconstruction failure can circumvent the tunnel problem for one-stage revision and better restore the stability and function of the knee joint, with ideal clinical results.

As the backbone force of China's social and economic construction, the health status of workers is closely related to the nation's productivity and social development. Currently, cancers have become one of the major diseases threatening the health of workers. However, there are still many shortcomings in the cancer screening services for the workers. To standardize cancer screening services for workers, ensure the quality of screening services, and improve the overall screening effectiveness, 19 institutions, including Peking Union Medical College Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, have jointly formulated the Group Standard "Specification for service of cancer screening for workers (T/CHAA 023-2023)". This standard follows the principles of "legality, scientific rigor, advancement, and feasibility" and combines the frontier scientific advances in cancer screening. It clarifies the relevant requirements for service principles, service design, service delivery, service management, service evaluation, and improving worker cancer screening. Implementing this group standard will help connect the common screening needs of workers, employers, and cancer screening service providers, standardize the screening process, improve screening quality, and ultimately increase the early diagnosis rate and survival rate of cancer patients. Consequently, this group standard will help safeguard workers' health rights and interests, ensure the labor force resources, promote the comprehensive coordinated and sustainable development of society, and contribute to realizing the "Healthy China 2030" strategic policy.

Objective: To monitor hemodynamic changes during serial balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Methods: General clinical data of CTEPH patients diagnosed from October 2017 to January 2022 in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital were collected, and 83 patients who underwent at least 1 BPA treatment were included to analyze their 6 min walking distance, WHO functional class, N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide precursor (NT-proBNP), troponin I (cTnI) and haemodynamic indices. Baseline and follow-up after the final BPA clinical data and hemodynamics, functional status and serial hemodynamics before each series of BPA were collected to evaluate the efficacy of BPA for CTEPH patients. Complications and managements were documented to confirm the safety of BPA for CTEPH patients. Results: Three hundred and forty BPA procedures were performed in 83 CTEPH patients. The median number of BPA procedures was 4.0 and a total of 2104 vessels were dilated. In general, mPAP [from 50.0(42.0-55.25) mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) to 32.0(27.0-42.0) mmHg, P<0.001], PVR[from (806.6±323.2) dyn·s·cm-5 to 420.0(295.0-613.5) dyn·s·cm-5, P<0.001] were significantly improved compared with baseline, but not CO and CI. Functional parameters including WHO functional class â /â ¡/â ¢/â £ (from 0/35/34/14 to 43/32/7/1, P<0.001), 6MWD [from 364.5(300.0-429.5)m to 461.0(409.0-501.0)m, P<0.001], NT-proBNP [from 1 357.0(232.0-2 715.0) ng/L to 141.0(57.0-627.8) ng/L,P<0.001] were significantly improved compared with baseline. A cumulative (compared to baseline) and serial (compared to preceding BPA session) analysis of the sequential BPA session confirmed that a major hemodynamic improvement in PVR and mPAP occurred in the first 3 serial BPA treatments. There was a dose-response relationship: the more segments that were treated, the greater were the subsequent reduction in PVR and mPAP. There were 32.0 complications (9.4%) associated with BPA procedures, and the most common complication was pulmonary hemorrhage caused by catheter-related vascular injury. Conclusions: BPA is an effective and safe alternative for technically non-operable CTEPH patients. The hemodynamic benefits of BPA in CTEPH patients were cumulative and correlated with the total number of vessels successfully dilated.

Energy-structure transformation and CO2-emission reduction are becoming particularly urgent for China and many other countries. Development of effective methods that are capable of quantifying and predicting CO2 emissions to achieve carbon neutrality is desired. This study advances a factorial-analysis-based Bayesian neural network (abbreviated as FABNN) method to reflect the complex relationship between inputs and outputs as well as reveal the individual and interactive effects of multiple factors affecting CO2 emissions. FABNN is then applied to analyzing CO2 emissions of China (abbreviated as CEC), where multiple factors involve in energy (e.g., the consumption of natural gas, CONG), economic (e.g., Gross domestic product, GDP) and social (e.g., the rate of urbanization, ROU) aspects are investigated and 512 scenarios are designed to achieve the national dual carbon targets (i.e., carbon peak before 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060). Comparing to the conventional machine learning methods, FABNN performs better in calibration and validation results, indicating that FABNN is suitable for CEC simulation and prediction. Results disclose that the top three factors affecting CEC under the dualcarbon target are GDP, CONG, and ROU; energy, economic and social contributions are 43.5 %, 34.6 % and 21.9 %, respectively. CEC reaches its carbon peak during 2027-2032 and achieve carbon neutrality during 2053-2057 under all scenarios. Under the optimal scenario (S195), the CO2-emission reduction potential is about 772.2 million tonnes and the consumptions of coal, petroleum and natural gas can be respectively reduced by 3.1 %, 9.9 % and 23.0 % compared to the worst scenario (S466). The results can provide solid support for national energy-structure transformation and CO2-emission reduction to achieve carbon-peak and carbon-neutrality targets.
RESUMO
AIM: To develop a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics model for the preoperative identification of mesenchymal transition (MT) subtype in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred and eighty-nine patients with histopathologically confirmed HGSOC were enrolled retrospectively. Among the included patients, 55 patients were determined as the MT subtype and the remaining 134 were non-MT subtype. After extracting a total of 204 features from T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and contrast-enhanced (CE)-T1WI images, the Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman correlation test, and Boruta algorithm were adopted to select the optimal feature set. Three classifiers, including logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and random forest (RF), were trained to develop radiomics models. The performance of established models was evaluated from three aspects: discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. RESULTS: Seven radiomics features relevant to MT subtypes were selected to build the radiomics models. The model based on the RF algorithm showed the best performance in predicting MT subtype, with areas under the curves (AUCs) of 0.866 (95 % confidence interval [CI]: 0.797-0.936) and 0.852 (95 % CI: 0.736-0.967) in the training and testing cohorts, respectively. The calibration curves, supported with Brier scores, indicated very good consistency between observation and prediction. Decision curve analysis (DCA) showed that the RF-based model could provide more net benefit, which suggested favorable utility in clinical application. CONCLUSION: The RF-based radiomics model provided accurate identification of MT from the non-MT subtype and may help facilitate personalised management of HGSOC.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the role of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in the effects of urinary caffeine and its primary metabolites on cognitive function in elderly people. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this investigation, we meticulously curated a cohort from the 2011-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. Animal fluency emerged as the pivotal metric for assessing cognitive function within our study population. In order to navigate the intricacies of mixture analysis and circumvent potential complexities, we harnessed the power of Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) models. This method allowed us to dissect the nuanced impacts of caffeine and its primary urinary metabolites on cognitive function. While accounting for caffeine and its metabolites, we analyzed the relationship between ALT and cognitive function through non-linear dynamics. Lastly, employing structural equation modeling, we probed the intriguing question of whether ALT mediates the influence of 3,7-dimethylxanthine on cognitive function. This comprehensive approach has unveiled a deeper understanding of the multifaceted interplay among these variables, offering invaluable insights into the determinants of cognitive function within our cohort. RESULTS: After meticulous adjustment for various covariates, our linear regression analysis unveiled a noteworthy finding: 3,7-dimethylxanthine demonstrated a significant positive correlation with cognitive function (p < 0.05). Importantly, within the BKMR model employed, 3,7-dimethylxanthine emerged as the most influential factor within the compound, with posterior inclusion probabilities of 0.995 and 0.939. Furthermore, our single-exposure effect model confirmed its presence at the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile concentrations of other components within the compound. Interestingly, bivariate concentration curves indicated no interaction within the compound, underscoring the prominent impact of 3,7-dimethylxanthine on cognitive function. Subsequently, through a test of Restricted Cubic Splines (RCS), we revealed a non-linear relationship between ALT and cognitive function at the 10th, 50th, and 90th percentiles (p < 0.05), indicating a heightened risk of diminished cognitive function in the low ALT group. Employing structural equation modeling, we meticulously examined the mediating role of ALT in relation to 3,7-dimethylxanthine and cognitive function. However, our study results did not yield significant evidence of a mediating effect. This comprehensive analysis elucidates the intricate interplay between these variables, unveiling the subtle mechanisms governing cognitive function. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, a noteworthy positive correlation was observed between 3,7-dimethylxanthine and cognitive function. Additionally, a non-linear relationship was identified between ALT and cognitive function, with lower levels of ALT associated with a decline in cognitive function. The RCS trend suggested that higher levels of ALT may similarly lead to diminished cognitive performance. However, in our pursuit to ascertain potential mediation, we regrettably found no significant evidence supporting mediation among these factors involving ALT. This underscores the need for more comprehensive investigations and expanded clinical explorations into the intricate associations among these three pivotal elements.

Heritable pulmonary arterial hypertension (HPAH) is a rare type of pulmonary arterial hypertension that often presents with progressive exertional dyspnea and for which there is no significant effective drug. A HPAH patient was admitted to our hospital more than three years ago, and the gene mutation was bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMPR2). For the first 45 months, she was given oral imatinib 100 mg once daily, and her symptoms and hemodynamics improved significantly, with no apparent side effects. It is reported that, in combination with the characteristics of the case and related literatures, it provides clinicians with other feasible treatment options for HPAH.

At present, the public health risks caused by pathogenic fungi are greater in China and have attracted great attention from disease control departments. Due to the difficulty in diagnosing fungal infections, the public health risk of pathogenic fungi is currently hidden in the unexplained pneumonia/encephalitis/fever syndrome and is not effectively appreciated. From the public health perspective, the mainly focused fungal pathogens include highly pathogenic fungi (including dimorphic fungi and dematiaceous fungi), pathogenic fungi that cause regional aggregation infections, and drug-resistant pathogenic fungi. However, due to the lack of systematic monitoring data, the disease burden related to pathogenic fungi cannot be accurately quantified and evaluated. Therefore, to effectively reduce the serious harm of fungal infections to the public, systematic monitoring of pathogenic fungi should be carried out nationally.

OBJECTIVE: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly aggressive malignancy that is associated with a high mortality rate globally. Unfortunately, distant metastases are often detected at the time of diagnosis. Therefore, we investigated the survival outcomes of gallbladder cancer patients with different metastases targeting organs, analyzed their prognosis, and explored their hidden clinical value. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Through data screening, a total of 398 patients with GBC with different target organ metastases were analyzed retrospectively, including patients with solitary bone metastasis, solitary liver metastasis, solitary lung metastasis, and multiple organ metastases. The survival results of different variables were plotted as Kaplan-Meier survival curves. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were used to screen study variables and identify independent prognostic factors. Finally, a nomogram was established to systematically evaluate the prognosis of patients with multiple organ metastasis. RESULTS: In the patient cohort, thirteen (3.3%) had solitary bone metastasis, 290 (72.9%) had solitary liver metastasis, 22 (5.5%) had solitary lung metastasis, and 73 (18.3%) had multiple organ metastases (including liver, lung, bone and brain metastases). Multivariate Cox analysis showed that the overall survival (OS) of patients with solitary lung metastasis was significantly better than that of patients with other organ metastasis (p = 0.038), while the difference in tumor cancer-specific survival (CSS) of this factor was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Surgery and chemotherapy were independent prognostic protective factors for OS and CSS. The OS-related models exhibited a C-index of 0.74 (95% CI: 0.71-0.77), while the CSS-related models showed a slightly lower C-index of 0.73 (0.70-0.76). Both the OS- and CSS-related clinical prediction models had good accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that different target organ metastases may affect the OS of patients with distant metastatic GBC. Patients receiving palliative surgery, primary site resection, radical surgery, and chemotherapy have significant survival benefits in terms of OS and CSS.

Exotic spin-dependent interactions involving new light particles address key questions in modern physics. Interactions between polarized neutrons (n) and unpolarized nucleons (N) occur in three forms: g_{S}^{N}g_{P}^{n}σ·r, g_{V}^{N}g_{A}^{n}σ·v, and g_{A}^{N}g_{A}^{n}σ·v×r, where σ is the spin and g's are the corresponding coupling constants for scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector vertexes. If such interactions exist, the Sun and Moon could induce sidereal variations of effective fields in laboratories. By analyzing existing data from laboratory measurements on Lorentz and CPT violation, we derive new experimental upper limits on these exotic spin-dependent interactions at astronomical ranges. Our limits on g_{S}^{N}g_{P}^{n} surpass the previous combined astrophysical-laboratory limits, setting the most stringent experimental constraints to date. We also report new constraints on vector-axial-vector and axial-axial-vector interactions at astronomical scales, with vector-axial-vector limits improved by â¼12 orders of magnitude. We extend our analysis to Hari Dass interactions and obtain new constraints.
RESUMO
The successful report of total mesorectal excision (TME)/complete mesocolic excision (CME) has encouraged people to apply this concept beyond colorectal surgery. However, the negative results of the JCOG1001 trial denied the effect of complete resection of the "mesogastrium" including the greater omentum on the oncological survival of gastric cancer patients. People even believe that the mesentery is unique in the intestine, because they have a vague understanding of the structure of the mesentery. The discovery of proximal segment of the dorsal mesogastrium (PSDM) proved that the greater omentum is not the mesogastrium, and further revised the structure (definition) of the mesentery and revealed its container characteristics, i.e. the mesentery is an envelope-like structure, which is formed by the primary fascia (and serosa) that enclose the tissue/organ/system and its feeding structures, leading to and suspended on the posterior wall of the body. Breakdown of this structure leads to the simultaneous reduction of surgical and oncological effects of surgery. People quickly realized the universality of this structure and causality which cannot be matched by the existing theories of organ anatomy and vascular anatomy, so a new theory and surgical map- membrane anatomy began to form, which led to radical surgery upgraded from histological en bloc resection to anatomic en bloc resection.

In the past decade, the concept of membrane anatomy has been gradually applied in gastric cancer surgery. Based on this theory, D2 lymphadenectomy plus complete mesogastric excision (D2+CME) has been proposed, which has been demonstrated to significantly reduce intraoperative bleeding and intraperitoneal free cancer cells during surgery, decrease surgical complications, and improve survival. These results indicate that membrane anatomy is feasible and efficacious in gastric cancer surgery. In this review, we will describe the important contents of membrane anatomy, including "Metastasis V"(2013, 2015), proximal segmentation of dorsal mesogastrium (2015), D2+CME procedure (2016), "cancer leak"(2018), and surgical outcomes of D2+CME (2022).

The energy loss functions (ELFs) of Fe and Ni have been derived from measured reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) spectra by a reverse Monte Carlo analysis in our previous work. In this work, we present further improvements of ELFs for these metals. For Fe, we have updated ELFs at primary electron energies of 2 keV and 3 keV in a wider photon energy region (0-180 eV) with a better accuracy, which is verified by sum rules. Regarding to Ni, we supplement the ELF at primary energy of 5 keV and we also improve the data accuracy at 3 keV. Applying these new and more accurate ELFs we present the optical constants and dielectric functions for the two metals. The improvements were highlighted by comparing our present results with the previous data.
RESUMO
Core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) are active research areas for their unique properties and wide applications. By changing the elemental composition in the core and shell, a series of core-shell NPs with specific functions can be obtained, where the sizes of the core and shell also influence the properties. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is useful in this context as a means of quantitatively analyzing such NPs. The empirical formula proposed by Shard [J. Phys. Chem. C, 2012, 116(31), 16806-16813] for calculating the shell thickness of the spherical core-shell NPs has been verified by Powell et al. [J. Phys. Chem. C, 2016, 120(39), 22730-22738] through a simulation of XPS with Simulation of Electron Spectra for Surface Analysis (SESSA) software. However, real core-shell NPs are not necessarily ideal spheres; such NPs can have rich shapes and uneven thicknesses. This work aims to extend the Shard formula to non-ideal core-shell NPs. We have used a Monte Carlo simulation method to study the XPS signal variation with the shell thickness for several modeled non-spherical shapes of core-shell NPs including some complex geometric structures which are numerically constructed with finite-element triangular meshes. Five types of non-spherical shapes, i.e. egg, ellipsoid, rod, rough-surface, and star shapes, are considered, while the size parameters are varied over a wide range. The equivalent radius and equivalent thickness are defined to characterize the average size of the nanoparticles for the use of the Shard formula. We have thus derived an extended Shard formula for the specific core-shell NPs, with which the relative error between the predicted shell thickness and the real thickness can be reduced to less than 10%.

Objective: To evaluate the advantages and safety of Plerixafor in combination with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in autologous hematopoietic stem cell mobilization of lymphoma. Methods: Lymphoma patients who received autologous hematopoietic stem cell mobilization with Plerixafor in combination with G-CSF or G-CSF alone were obtained. The clinical data, the success rate of stem cell collection, hematopoietic reconstitution, and treatment-related adverse reactions between the two groups were evaluated retrospectively. Results: A total of 184 lymphoma patients were included in this analysis, including 115 cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (62.5%) , 16 cases of classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (8.7%) , 11 cases of follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (6.0%) , 10 cases of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (5.4%) , 6 cases of mantle cell lymphoma (3.3%) , and 6 cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (3.3%) , 6 cases of NK/T-cell lymphoma (3.3%) , 4 cases of Burkitt's lymphoma (2.2%) , 8 cases of other types of B-cell lymphoma (4.3%) , and 2 cases of other types of T-cell lymphoma (1.1%) ; 31 patients had received radiotherapy (16.8%) . The patients in the two groups were recruited with Plerixafor in combination with G-CSF or G-CSF alone. The baseline clinical characteristics of the two groups were basically similar. The patients in the Plerixafor in combination with the G-CSF mobilization group were older, and the number of recurrences and third-line chemotherapy was higher. 100 patients were mobilized with G-CSF alone. The success rate of the collection was 74.0% for one day and 89.0% for two days. 84 patients in the group of Plerixafor combined with G-CSF were recruited successfully with 85.7% for one day and 97.6% for two days. The success rate of mobilization in the group of Plerixafor combined with G-CSF was substantially higher than that in the group of G-CSF alone (P=0.023) . The median number of CD34(+) cells obtained in the mobilization group of Plerixafor combined with G-CSF was 3.9×10(6)/kg. The median number of CD34(+) cells obtained in the G-CSF Mobilization group alone was 3.2×10(6)/kg. The number of CD34(+) cells collected by Plerixafor combined with G-CSF was considerably higher than that in G-CSF alone (P=0.001) . The prevalent adverse reactions in the group of Plerixafor combined with G-CSF were grade 1-2 gastrointestinal reactions (31.2%) and local skin redness (2.4%) . Conclusion: The success rate of autologous hematopoietic stem cell mobilization in lymphoma patients treated with Plerixafor combined with G-CSF is significantly high. The success rate of collection and the absolute count of CD34(+) stem cells were substantially higher than those in the group treated with G-CSF alone. Even in older patients, second-line collection, recurrence, or multiple chemotherapies, the combined mobilization method also has a high success rate of mobilization.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate pharmacokinetics (PK), efficacy, and safety of atezolizumab (anti-PD-L1) in high interest cancers in China, including esophageal cancer (EC), gastric cancer (GC), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC), and non-small cell lung can-cer (NSCLC). METHODS: This phase I, open-label study was conducted at 6 Chinese sites from August 4, 2016 to April 15, 2019. The patients were ≥18 years old with a histologically documented incurable or metastatic solid tumor that was advanced or recurrent and had progressed since the last anti-tumor the-rapy. The PK phase characterized PK and safety of atezolizumab following multiple-dose administration when atezolizumab was administered as a single agent. The extension phase studied safety and efficacy of atezolizumab, as monotherapy (EC, GC, HCC, NPC) and with chemotherapy (NSCLC). RESULTS: This study enrolled 120 patients (PK phase: n=20; extension phase: n=20/cohort). Fourty-two patients (42.0%) were PD-L1 positive in atezolizumab monotherapy group (100 patients), of the 9 patients (9.0%) with microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) tumors. Atezolizumab clearance was 0.219 L/d, and steady state was reached after 6 to 9 weeks (2-3 cycles) of repeated dosing. Objective response rates (ORRs) in EC, GC, HCC, NPC, and NSCLC were 10.0%, 15.0%, 10.0%, 5.0%, and 40.0%, respectively. In the patients with PD-L1 positive tumors, ORR was 11.9% with atezolizumab and 46.2% with atezolizumab plus gemcitabine and cisplatin. Two GC patients achieved durable response after pseudo-progression. The most common treatment-related adverse events in the atezolizumab monotherapy group were fatigue, anemia, fever, and decreased white blood cell count. The most common treatment-related adverse events in the combination group were anemia, decreased white blood cell count, and decreased appetite. No new safety signals were identified. The aim of the present study was to explore whether hydrogen sulfide (H2S) protects against ischemic heart failure (HF) by inhibiting the necroptosis pathway. Mice were randomized into Sham, myocardial infarction (MI), MI + propargylglycine (PAG) and MI + sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) group, respectively. The MI model was induced by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery. PAG was intraperitoneally administered at a dose of 50 mg/kg/day for 4 weeks, and NaHS at a dose of 4 mg/kg/day for the same period. At 4 weeks after MI, the following were observed: A significant decrease in the cardiac function, as evidenced by a decline in ejection fraction (EF) and fractional shortening (FS); an increase in plasma myocardial injury markers, such as creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and cardiac troponin I (cTNI); an increase in myocardial collagen content in the heart tissues; and a decrease of H2S level in plasma and heart tissues. Furthermore, the expression levels of necroptosis-related markers such as receptor interacting protein kinase 1 (RIP1), RIP3 and mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL) were upregulated after MI. NaHS treatment increased H2S levels in plasma and heart tissues, preserving the cardiac function by increasing EF and FS, decreasing plasma CK-MB and cTNI and reducing collagen content. Additionally, NaHS treatment significantly downregulated the RIP1/RIP3/MLKL pathway. While, PAG treatment aggravated cardiac function by activated the RIP1/RIP3/MLKL pathway. Overall, the present study concluded that H2S protected against ischemic HF by inhibiting RIP1/RIP3/MLKL-mediated necroptosis which could be a potential target treatment for ischemic HF.
