BACKGROUND: The high incidence and mortality of gastric cancer (GC) pose a significant threat to human life and health, and it has become an important public health challenge in China. Body weight loss is a common complication after surgical treatment in patients with GC and is associated with poor prognosis and GC recurrence. However, current attention to postoperative weight change in GC patients remains insufficient, and the descriptions of postoperative weight change and its influencing factors are also different. AIM: To investigate body weight changes in patients with GC within 6 mo after gastrectomy and identify factors that influence dynamic body weight changes. METHODS: We conducted a prospective longitudinal study of 121 patients with GC and collected data before (T0) and 1 (T1), 3 (T2), and 6 (T3) mo after gastrectomy using a general data questionnaire, psychological distress thermometer, and body weight measurements. The general estimation equation (GEE) was used to analyze the dynamic trends of body weight changes and factors that influence body weight changes in patients with GC within 6 mo of gastrectomy. RESULTS: The median weight loss at T1, T2, and T3 was 7.29% (2.84%, 9.40%), 11.11% (7.64%, 14.91%), and 14.75% (8.80%, 19.84%), respectively. The GEE results showed that preoperative body mass index (BMI), significant psychological distress, religious beliefs, and sex were risk factors for weight loss in patients with GC within 6 mo after gastrectomy (P < 0.05). Compared with preoperative low-weight patients, preoperative obese patients were more likely to have weight loss (ß = 14.685, P < 0.001). Furthermore, patients with significant psychological distress were more likely to lose weight than those without (ß = 2.490, P < 0.001), and religious patients were less likely to lose weight 6 mo after gastrectomy than those without religious beliefs (ß = -6.844, P = 0.001). Compared to female patients, male patients were more likely to experience weight loss 6 mo after gastrectomy (ß = 4.262, P = 0.038). CONCLUSION: Male patients with GC with high preoperative BMI, significant psychological distress, and no religious beliefs are more likely to lose weight after gastrectomy.

SUN5, a testis-specific gene, is associated with acephalic spermatozoa syndrome (ASS). Here, we demonstrate that Sun5 is involved in mRNA export. In Sun5-knockout mice ( Sun5 -/-), poly(A) + RNA accumulates in the nuclei of germ cells, leading to reduced sperm counts, decreased sperm motility and disrupted sperm head-to-tail junctions. Additionally, in the GC-2 germ cell line with RNA interference of Sun5, heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) and poly (A) + RNA (mainly mRNA) are retained in the nucleus. Further mechanistic studies reveal that Sun5 interacts with Nxf1 (nuclear RNA export factor 1) and nucleoporin 93 (Nup93). Interference with Nup93 inhibits mRNA export. Treatment with leptomycin B to block the CRM1 pathway indicates that Sun5 regulates mRNA export through an Nxf1-dependent pathway. In Sun5 -/- mice, the binding of Nxf1 and Nup93 decreases due to loss of Sun5 function, and the process of submitting Nxf1-binding mRNPs to Nup93 is inhibited, resulting in abnormal spermatogenesis. Together, these data may elucidate a novel pathway for mRNA export in male germ cells.

BACKGROUND: Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) is an asymptomatic condition with the potential to progress to metastasis. Novel hormonal agents (NHAs) are currently considered the gold standard treatment for nmCRPC, offering significant survival benefits. However, further evidence is needed to determine whether there are differences in the performance of these drugs among Asian populations. METHODS: This retrospective analysis of nmCRPC patients aims to compare the efficacy and safety of three NHAs-apalutamide, darolutamide, and enzalutamide. Data were collected from two prominent prostate care centers in Taichung, Taiwan. Patient characteristics, treatment details, PSA responses, and adverse events were analyzed. Statistical comparisons were performed, and the study received Institutional Review Board approval. RESULTS: Total of 64 patients were recruited in this study, including 29 darolutamide, 26 apalutamide, and 9 enzalutamide patients. Baseline characteristics varied between the three patient groups, but the treatment response still revealed similar results. The apalutamide group experienced more adverse events, notably skin rash. Discontinuation rates due to adverse events differed among the groups, and patients receiving darolutamide were less likely to discontinue treatment. CONCLUSION: This real-world study provides insights into NHA utilization in nmCRPC within the Taiwanese population. Adverse event profiles varied, emphasizing the need for individualized treatment decisions. The study underscores the importance of regional considerations and contributes valuable data for optimizing treatment outcomes in nmCRPC.

BACKGROUND: Empowerment is a comprehensive concept involving intrapersonal, interactional, and behavioral aspects. However, there is a lack of a specific empowerment scale for Coronary artery disease (CAD) related to knowledge and skills in China. The reliability and validity of the Coronary Artery Disease Empowerment Scale (CADES) need to be tested. This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of CADES among patients with CAD in China. METHODS: The study adopted a cross-sectional design. After obtaining the copyright by contacting the author, the original English CADES was developed into Chinese by forward translation, back-translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and a pretest (30 patients). The Chinese version of CADES was administered to 391 CAD patients between September 2022 and June 2023, with the reliability and validity of the version evaluated. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed to examine the underlying factor structure of the translated questionnaire. The Cronbach's α coefficient, Guttman's split-half coefficient, and McDonald's omega coefficient were calculated to verify the scale's reliability. RESULTS: For the Chinese version of CADES, the scale-content validity index was 0.972, with the item-content validity index ranging from 0.86 to 1.00. The questionnaire comprised 25 items, and exploratory factor analysis extracted four factors with loadings > 0.40, explaining 62.382% of the total variance. An acceptable model fit was achieved (χ2/df = 1.764, RMSEA = 0.060, TLI = 0.901, CFI = 0.912, IFI = 0.913). The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total questionnaire was 0.928, with coefficients for the four factors ranging from 0.683 to 0.913. The split-half reliability coefficient was 0.777, and the McDonald's omega reliability coefficient was 0.926. CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese version of CADES is reliable and valid among CAD patients in China. This instrument can serve as a valuable reference for guiding the implementation of targeted intervention strategies tailored to the empowerment status of CAD patients in clinical practice.

Functional cure for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) remains challenging due to the lack of direct intervention methods for hepatic inflammation. Multi-omics research offers a promising approach to understand hepatic inflammation mechanisms in CHB. A Bayesian linear model linked gene expression with clinical parameters, and population-specific expression analysis (PSEA) refined bulk gene expression into specific cell types across different clinical phases. These models were integrated into our analysis of key factors like inflammatory cells, immune activation, T cell exhaustion, chemokines, receptors, and interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). Validation through multi-immune staining in liver specimens from CHB patients bolstered our findings. In CHB patients, increased gene expression related to immune cell activation and migration was noted. Marker genes of macrophages, T cells, immune-negative regulators, chemokines, and ISGs showed a positive correlation with serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels but not hepatitis B virus DNA levels. The PSEA model confirmed T cells as the source of exhausted regulators, while macrophages primarily contributed to chemokine expression. Upregulated ISGs (ISG20, IFI16, TAP2, GBP1, PSMB9) in the hepatitis phase were associated with T cell and macrophage infiltration and positively correlated with ALT levels. Conversely, another set of ISGs (IFI44, ISG15, IFI44L, IFI6, MX1) mainly expressed by hepatocytes and B cells showed no correlation with ALT levels. Our study presents a multi-omics analysis integrating bulk transcriptomic, single-cell sequencing data, and clinical data from CHB patients to decipher the cause of intrahepatic inflammation in CHB. The findings confirm that macrophages secrete chemokines like CCL20, recruiting exhausted T cells into liver tissue; concurrently, hepatocyte innate immunity is suppressed, hindering the antiviral effects of ISGs.

PURPOSE: To analysis the clinical efficacy of Angiojet percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy (PMT) combined with Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis (CDT) compared to CDT in treatment of subacute iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis (IFDVT) in elderly patients. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 117 elderly patients hospitalized for subacute IFDVT was conducted. The patients'basic perioperative data and 2-years follow-up data were compared. RESULTS: Group A (PMT + CDT) had a more patients reaching Grade III thrombus clearance, and a lower thrombolysis time, dosage of thrombolytic drugs, hospital stay, and bleeding incidence compared to Group B (CDT). There was a statistically significant difference in the occurrence rate of severe PTS within 2 years (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: In treating elderly patients with subacute IFDVT, PMT + CDT effectively reduces the thrombus burden and the dosage of thrombolytic drugs, shortens the hospital stay, and importantly, reduces the occurrence rate of severe PTS within 2 years.

OBJECTIVE: The early identification and diagnosis of transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TA-TMA) are essential yet difficult in patients underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). To develop an evidence-based, nurse-leading early warning model for TA-TMA, and implement the healthcare quality review and improvement project. METHODS: This study was a mixed-methods, before-and-after study. The early warning model was developed based on quality evidence from literature search. The healthcare quality review and improvement project mainly included baseline investigation of nurse, improvement action and effectiveness evaluation. The awareness and knowledge of early parameter of TA-TMA among nurses and the prognosis of patients underwent HSCT were compared before and after the improvement. RESULTS: A total of 1 guideline, 1 evidence synthesis, 4 expert consensuses, 10 literature reviews, 2 diagnostic studies, and 9 case series were included in the best evidence. The early warning model including warning period, high-risk characteristics and early manifestation of TA-TMA was developed. The improvement action, including staff training and assessment, suspected TA-TMA identification and patient education, was implemented. The awareness and knowledge rate of early parameter of TA-TMA among nurses significantly improved after improvement action (100% vs. 26.7%, P < 0.001). The incidence of TA-TMA was similar among patients underwent HSCT before and after improvement action (2.8% vs. 1.2%, P = 0.643), while no fall event occurred after improvement action (0 vs. 1.2%, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The evidence-based early warning model and healthcare quality improvement project could enhance the awareness and knowledge of TA-TMA among healthcare providers and might improve the prognosis of patients diagnosed with TA-TMA.

Background/Aims: Previous studies have shown that diet and physical activity can influence constipation. However, the combined effect of diet and physical activity on constipation remains unclear. Methods: Constipation was defined based on stool consistency and frequency, while overall diet quality was assessed using Healthy Eating Index (HEI)-2015 scores. Participants were categorized into low (metabolic equivalent [MET]-min/wk < 500) and high physical activity groups (MET-min/wk ≥ 500). The association between diet and constipation across physical activity groups was analyzed using survey logistic regression and restricted cubic splines. Results: Higher HEI-2015 scores were associated with reduced constipation risk in the high physical activity group when constipation was defined by stool consistency (odds ratio [OR], 0.98; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.97-0.99). However, in the low physical activity group, increased HEI-2015 scores did not significantly affect constipation risk (OR, 1.01; 95% CI, 0.97-1.05). Similar results were found when constipation was defined based on stool frequency. In the high physical activity group, increased HEI-2015 scores were significantly associated with a reduced constipation risk (OR, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.94-0.98). Conversely, in the low physical activity group, increased HEI-2015 scores did not affect the risk of constipation (OR, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.90-1.03). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that a higher HEI-2015 score is negatively associated with constipation among individuals with high physical activity levels but not among those with low physical activity levels. This association was consistent when different definitions of constipation were used. These results highlight the importance of combining healthy diet with regular physical activity to alleviate constipation.

LSD1 has become an appealing target for the development of new pharmacologic agents to treat cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure. Herein, we reported the design, synthesis, and structure-activity relationship of a series of TCP-based derivatives targeting LSD1. Docking studies were employed to successfully elucidate the SAR. Particularly, compound 7d, characterized by low toxicity, demonstrated a high affinity for LSD1 at molecular and cellular levels. It also displayed favorable pharmacokinetic properties for oral dosing (e.g., F = 77.61%), effectively alleviating Ang II-induced NRCFs activation in vitro and reducing pathological myocardial remodeling in TAC-induced cardiac remodeling and heart failure in vivo. Additionally, mechanism studies revealed that suppression of myocardial dysfunction by compound 7d is related to LSD1 inhibition-induced TGFß signaling pathway repressing. In summary, the current report presents compound 7d as a potent LSD1 inhibitor with the potential for further development as a therapeutic agent for pressure overload-related heart failure.

Spodoptera litura commonly known as the cutworm, is among the most destructive lepidopteran pests affecting over 120 plants species. The powerful destructive nature of this lepidopteran is attributable to its high reproductive capacity. The testicular fusion that occurs during metamorphosis from larvae to pupa in S.litura positively influences the reproductive success of the offspring. In contrast, Bombyx mori, the silkworm, retains separate testes throughout its life and does not undergo this fusion process. Microscopic examination reveals that during testicular fusion in S.litura, the peritoneal sheath becomes thinner and more translucent, whereas in B.mori, the analogous region thickens. The outer basement membrane in S.litura exhibits fractures, discontinuity, and uneven thickness accompanied by a significant presence of cellular secretions, large cell size, increased vesicles, liquid droplets, and a proliferation of rough endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria. In contrast, the testicular peritoneal sheath of B.mori at comparable developmental stage exhibits minimal change. Comparative transcriptomic analysis of the testicular peritoneal sheath reveals a substantial difference in gene expression between the two species. The disparity in differential expressed genes (DEGs) is linked to an enrichment of numerous transcription factors, intracellular signaling pathways involving Ca2+ and GTPase, as well as intracellular protein transport and signaling pathways. Meanwhile, structural proteins including actin, chitin-binding proteins, membrane protein fractions, cell adhesion, extracellular matrix proteins are predominantly identified. Moreover, the study highlights the enrichment of endopeptidases, serine proteases, proteolytic enzymes and matrix metalloproteins, which may play a role in the degradation of the outer membrane. Five transcription factors-Slforkhead, Slproline, Slcyclic, Slsilk, and SlD-ETS were identified, and their expression pattern were confirmed by qRT-PCR. they are candidates for participating in the regulation of testicular fusion. Our findings underscore significant morphological and trancriptomic variation in the testicular peritoneal sheath of S.litura compared to the silkworm, with substantial changes at the transcriptomic level coinciding with testicular fusion. The research provides valuable clues for understanding the complex mechanisms underlying this unique phenomenon in insects.

BACKGROUND: Global human activities were significantly impacted by the emergence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV infection in Central Fujian Province during the pandemic. METHODS: Cervical samples were collected from 21,612 outpatients and 12,664 females who underwent physical examinations and HPV screening at the People's Hospital of Fujian Province in Fuzhou from April 2020 to April 2023. HPV detection and genotyping were conducted using PCR hybridization. RESULTS: The overall HPV infection rate was 16.1% during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the outpatient group exhibiting a greater infection rate (19.0%) than did the healthy group (12.3%). The top five high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) genotypes in both groups were HPV52, HPV53, HPV58, HPV16, and HPV51. Additionally, HPV81 and HPV43 were the two most common low-risk HPV (LR-HPV) genotypes in the patient group, while HPV81 and HPV42 were the two most common LR-HPV genotypes in the healthy group. The highest prevalence of HPV infection was observed in individuals aged ≤ 24 years (28.4%, 95% CI 25.9-30.9), followed by those aged ≥ 55 years (23.6%, 95% CI 21.6-24.7) and other age groups. The prevalence decreased from 23.0% (95% CI 22.4-23.7) in 2018-2019 to 13.8% (95% CI 12.0-15.5) in 2023. CONCLUSION: This study provides valuable insights into the prevalence and genotypes of HPV infection in the female population of Central Fujian Province from 2020 to 2023. The findings indicate that the prevalence of HPV infection in Central Fujian Province remains relatively low compared to the national average. Furthermore, the prevalence of HPV decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, as the pandemic waned, there was potential for an increase in HPV infection rates. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen HPV screening and vaccination strategies to prevent the potential spread of HPV.

Acephalic spermatozoa syndrome (ASS) is a severe teratospermia with decaudated, decapitated, and malformed sperm, resulting in male infertility. Nuclear envelope protein SUN5 localizes to the junction between the sperm head and tail. Mutations in the SUN5 gene have been identified most frequently (33-47%) in ASS cases, and its molecular mechanism of action is yet to be explored. In the present study, we generated Sun5 knockout mice, which presented the phenotype of ASS. Nuclear membrane protein LaminB1 and cytoskeletal GTPases Septin12 and Septin2 were identified as potential partners for interacting with SUN5 by immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry in mouse testis. Further studies demonstrated that SUN5 connected the nucleus by interacting with LaminB1 and connected the proximal centriole by interacting with Septin12. The binding between SUN5 and Septin12 promoted their aggregation together in the sperm neck. The disruption of the LaminB1/SUN5/Septin12 complex by Sun5 deficiency caused separation of the Septin12-proximal centriole from the nucleus, leading to the breakage of the head-to-tail junction. Collectively, these data provide new insights into the pathogenesis of ASS caused by SUN5 deficiency.

A two-factor experiment was devised to assess the appropriateness of the quantity and arrangement of information on multi-information guide signs at unique, spacious exits on elevated expressway sections. This experiment investigated 77 signs containing varying amounts of road name information and different placements of destination road names. The research entailed an indoor experiment that incorporated eye-tracking technology and involved the analysis of a total of twenty-eight indicators. A comprehensive index system was developed, identifying three key aspects: visual recognition efficiency, visual recognition difficulty, and visual fatigue. Utilizing repeated measure analysis of variances, the impact of these two factors was examined to identify significant indicators and establish a comprehensive assessment indicator system. The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method, in conjunction with the coefficient of entropy weight, was employed to assess the effectiveness of these two factors. The findings demonstrated that the 28 eye-movement indicators utilized in this study effectively constitute a valuable indicator system for evaluating drivers' visual recognition characteristics. These indicators capture the subtle psychophysical traits inherent in the process of recognizing signs, including visual recognition efficiency, difficulty, and fatigue. Regarding the first experimental factor, the number of sign road names significantly influences drivers' visual recognition characteristics (Sig < 0.05). Specifically, an increase in the number of sign road names leads to diminished visual recognition efficiency and heightened visual recognition difficulty and fatigue. Consequently, it is advisable to restrict the number of sign road names to a maximum of six per sign under typical circumstances, with nine being the limit under special conditions. As for the second experimental factor, the placement of the destination road name within the sign layout exerts a significant impact on visual recognition characteristics (Sig < 0.05). Each type of multi-information sign exhibits a distinct visual recognition pattern. Generally, the upper portion of the sign is more easily recognized, while the lower part poses greater recognition challenges. Therefore, to mitigate visual recognition risks, it is recommended that road information placement be prioritized based on actual usage conditions.

In this work, effects of cellulose nanofiber/dihydromyricetin (CNF/DMY) ratio on the structural, antioxidant and emulsifying properties of the CNF/DMY mixtures were investigated. CNF integrated with DMY via hydrogen bonding and the antioxidant capacity of mixtures increased with decreasing CNF/DMY ratio (k). The oxidative stability of emulsions enhanced as the DMY content increased. Emulsions formed at Φ = 0.5 displayed larger size (about 25 µm), better viscoelasticity and centrifugal stability than those at Φ = 0.3 (about 23 µm). The emulsions at k = 17:3 and Φ = 0.5 exhibited the most excellent viscoelasticity. In conclusion, the DMY content in mixtures and the oil phase fraction exhibited distinct synergistic effects on the formation and characteristics of emulsions, and the emulsions could demonstrate superior oxidative and storage stability. These findings could provide a novel strategy to extend the shelf life of cellulose-based emulsions and related products.

Characterization and understanding of protein higher order structure (HOS) is essential at all stages of biologics development. Here, two folding variants of a bispecific monoclonal antibody, the correctly folded form and an alternative configuration with reduced potency, were characterized by several HOS characterization techniques. Specifically, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), circular dichroism (CD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman and Raman optical activity (ROA) spectroscopy were used together to elucidate the impacts of disulfide bond scrambling in the fused scFv domains on the structure and thermal stability of the antibody. This study illustrates the importance of selecting appropriate biophysical characterization techniques based on the nature and magnitude of the HOS change.

INTRODUCTION: Recessive congenital methemoglobinemia (RCM) caused by CYB5R3 deficiency due to the mutations in the reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) cytochrome b5 reductase (CYB5R) gene is an autosomal recessive inherited disease. Clinically, it can be divided into two types, namely red blood cell affected type (RCM I) and systemically affected type (RCM II). CASE PRESENTATION: A 5-year-old male patient was diagnosed with cyanosis for 5 years. Physical examination showed cyanosis in areas such as the lips, fingers, and toes. Laboratory examination revealed low pulse oxygen saturation (81%) and increased blood methemoglobin (23.6%). Gene testing revealed the compound heterozygous mutations in the CYB5R3 gene, c.149G>A (p.Arg50Gln) and c.331A>G (p.Lys111Glu), respectively originating from his parents. By constructing 3D models of CYB5R3 wild-type and mutant types using SWISS-MODEL software, it was found that the mutation caused significant structural abnormalities in the CYB5R protein. The relationship between CYB5R3 gene mutation sites, amino acid change, enzyme activity, and methemoglobinemia type I and II were listed and analyzed. CONCLUSION: A case of congenital RCM type I caused by compound heterozygous mutations in the CYB5R3 gene was reported, with c.331A>G (p.Lys111Glu) being the newly reported mutation. The homozygosity or heterozygosity of CYB5R3 gene mutations that lead to premature termination, loss of exons, and change in amino acid properties in FAD or NADH binding domains, is positively correlated with the severity (from type I to type II) of methemoglobinemia.

Purpose: Polygala tenuifolia Willd. (PT), a traditional Chinese medicinal plant extensively employed in managing Alzheimer's disease, exhibits notable gastrointestinal side effects as highlighted by prior investigations. In contrast, Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et Wils (MO), a traditional remedy for gastrointestinal ailments, shows promising potential for ameliorating this adverse effect of PT. The objective of this study is to examine the underlying mechanism of MO in alleviating the side effects of PT. Methods: Hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining was used to observe the structural damage of zebrafish intestine, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress. The integrity of the intestinal tight junctions was examined using transmission electron microscope (TEM). Moreover, the expression of intestinal barrier genes and PI3K/AKT/NF-κB signaling pathway-related genes was determined through quantitative real-time PCR. The changes in intestinal microbial composition were analyzed using 16S rRNA and metagenomic techniques. Results: MO effectively ameliorated intestinal pathological damage and barrier gene expression, and significantly alleviated intestinal injury by reducing the expression of inflammatory cytokines IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, and inhibiting the activation of PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway. Furthermore, MO could significantly increase the relative abundance of beneficial microorganisms (Lactobacillus, Blautia and Saccharomyces cerevisiae), and reduce the relative abundance of pathogenic bacteria (Plesiomonas and Aeromonas). Conclusion: MO alleviated PT-induced intestinal injury, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway activation and regulation of intestinal flora.

Aims: The Royal Free Hospital Nutritional Prioritizing Tool (RFH-NPT), the Liver Disease Undernutrition Screening Tool (LDUST) and Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS2002) were used by nurses to screen, compare, and analyze the nutritional status of patients with liver cirrhosis. The application value of different screening tools was summarized in the nutritional screening of patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods: In this study, LDUST, RFH-NPT, and NRS2002 were used by nurses to screen the nutritional status of hospitalized patients with liver cirrhosis within 24-48 h after admission. The study calculated validity indicators such as sensitivity, specificity, the area under the receiver operating curve (AUC), and reliability indicators such as the Kappa coefficient. The efficacy of these screening tools in the nutritional screening of patients with liver cirrhosis was compared. Results: Among the 207 patients, LDUST and NRS2002 identified 72.9 % and 23.7 % as undernourished, respectively. The sensitivity of LDUST and NRS2002 were 92.1 % and 30.0 %, respectively. The Kappa value of LDUST and RFH-NPT was 0.620, and the Kappa value of LDUST compared with NRS2002 was 0.144. Conclusion: This study shows that the Liver Disease Undernutrition Screening Tool, a special screening tool for patients with liver cirrhosis, has a more reliable screening effect and higher sensitivity than NRS2002. The Liver Disease Undernutrition Screening Tool is recommended for nutritional screening in patients with liver cirrhosis.
