RESUMO

Anoikis resistance, a notable factor in osteosarcoma, plays a significant role in tumor invasion and metastasis. This study seeks to identify a distinct gene signature that is specifically associated with the anoikis subcluster in osteosarcoma. Clinical, single-cell, and transcriptional data from TARGET and GEO datasets were used to develop a gene signature for osteosarcoma based on the anoikis subcluster. Univariate Cox and LASSO regression analyses were employed. The signature's predictive value was evaluated using time-dependent ROC and Kaplan-Meier analyses. Functional enrichment analyses and drug sensitivity analyses were conducted. Validation of three modular genes was performed using RT-qPCR and Western blotting. Signature (ZNF583, CGNL1, CXCL13) was developed to predict overall survival in osteosarcoma patients, targeting the anoikis subcluster. The signature demonstrated good performance in external validation. Stratification based on the signature revealed significantly different prognoses. The signature was an independent prognostic factor. The low-risk group showed enhanced immune cell infiltration and improved immune function. Drug sensitivity analysis indicated efficacy of chemotherapy agents. Prognostic nomograms incorporating the signature provided greater predictive accuracy and clinical utility. Signatures related to the anoikis subcluster play a significant role in osteosarcoma progression. Incorporating these findings into clinical decision-making can improve osteosarcoma treatment and patient outcomes.

BACKGROUND: As an important evaluation index after cervical surgery, ninety-day readmission is gradually being valued. Our study collected the latest published relevant studies, analyzed the risk factors of ninety-day readmission after cervical surgery, and continuously improved the postoperative rehabilitation plan. This study focuses on two research hotspots: (1) What is the rate of ninety-day readmission after cervical surgery? (2) What are the risk factors affecting the ninety-day readmission? METHODS: Based on the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases, this study searched for studies about ninety-day readmission after cervical surgery, from the establishment of the database to August 1, 2022. The evaluation indicators are as follows: age, American Society of Anesthesiology physical status (ASA) class, diabetes, hypertension, chronic heart diseases, chronic lung diseases, income, and payments for hospitalization. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.4. RESULTS: Seven studies with 222,490 participants were eligible for our meta-analysis. The analysis displayed that there were statistically significant differences in the age (MD = - 4.60, 95%CI - 4.89-4.31, p < 0.001), diabetes (OR = 0.60, 95%CI 0.56-0.64, p < 0.00001), hypertension (OR = 0.40, 95%CI 0.30-0.54, p < 0.00001), chronic heart diseases (OR = 0.05, 95%CI 0.01-0.19, p < 0.00001), chronic lung diseases (OR = 0.46, 95%CI 0.43-0.49, p < 0.00001), income (OR = 2.85, 95%CI 1.82-4.46, p < 0.00001), and payments for hospitalization (OR = 2.29, 95%CI 1.14-4.59, p = 0.02) between readmission and no readmission groups. In terms of the ASA, there was no difference on the ninety-day readmission (p = 0.78). CONCLUSION: Age, diabetes, hypertension, chronic heart diseases, chronic lung diseases, income, and payments for hospitalization are the risk factors of ninety-day readmission following cervical surgery.

The most frequent internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA is N6-methyladenosine (m6A). However, what we know about the m6A regulators in Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is still limited. In our study, eight distinct m6A regulators were selected utilizing Differentially Expressed Gene (DEG) analysis of the Gene Expression Omnibus GSE73754 dataset for making comparisons between AS (Ankylosing spondylitis) and non-AS patients. The random forest model and the nomogram model were used to screen the eight candidate m6A regulators and evaluate their prediction accuracy for the occurrence of AS. Furthermore, based on the selected m6A regulators, the AS patients were divided into two subgroups, and we applied principal component analysis algorithms to calculate their m6A score and evaluate the m6A patterns. Our findings revealed that patients in cluster A were linked to activated CD4 T cell immunity and activated CD8 T cell immunity. With its major contributions in the area of immunology, our research in m6A patterns may benefit the future diagnosis and treatment strategies of AS.

Although cisplatin is a common drug in the treatment of malignant tumors, its clinical application is limited due to various side effects, especially acute kidney injury (AKI). Till now, few effective pharmacological strategies can be applied to inhibit cisplatin-induced AKI. Here, we aimed to investigate the protective effects and possible mechanisms of monotropein on cisplatin-induced AKI. In this study, an AKI model was established in cisplatin-treated mice, and serum level of inflammatory cytokines, protein expressions of biochemical indicators and renal pathology were analyzed. Our results showed that our results showed that monotropein could significantly attenuate cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and reduce the levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (CRE). Furthermore, monotropein inhibited cisplatin-induced oxidative stress by reducing MDA level and increasing the activities of GSH, SOD and CAT. The underlying mechanisms of monotropein on alleviating cisplatin-induced AKI were associated with the activation of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway against oxidative stress and the inhibition on NF-κB signaling to suppress inflammation as well as the regulation on the expressions of proteins in apoptosis pathway in this renal injury model. This study firstly provided the evidence that monotropein could significantly attenuate cisplatin-induced AKI and suggested that monotropein might be used as a potential agent to alleviate side effects of cisplatin.

BACKGROUND: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed to compare the incidence of cement leakage between unilateral and bilateral percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) in treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched to retrieve the reported data from the establishment of the databases until August 1, 2018. The RCTs on unilateral and bilateral PVA for OVCFs were included. RevMan software, version 5.3, was used for the meta-analysis. RESULTS: Six RCTs were selected from the reported data. The studies included a total of 676 vertebras, 339 of which had received unilateral PVA and the rest, bilateral PVA. The incidence of cement leakage in the unilateral PVA group was less than that in the bilateral PVA group, and the difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant (risk ratio, 0.50; 95% confidence interval, 0.35-0.72; P = 0.0002). The cement dosage in the unilateral PVA group was less than that in the bilateral PVA group, and the difference between the 2 groups was statistically significant (weighted mean difference, -1.98; 95% confidence interval, -2.24 to -1.72; P < 0.00001). The cement dosage and the incidence of cement leakage in the unilateral PVA group were lower than those in the bilateral PVA group. CONCLUSIONS: The results of our meta-analysis have provided sufficient evidence to show that the unilateral approach can decrease the incidence of cement leakage in PVA. We believe the unilateral approach could reduce the risk of cement leakage owing to the lower cement dosage in the treated vertebra.

Osteoporosis is a common age-related disorder characterized by low bone mass and deterioration in bone microarchitecture, leading to increased skeletal fragility and fracture risk. The pathophysiology of osteoporosis is multifactorial. It is related to the imbalance between osteoblasts and osteoclasts; reduced bone mass and increased adipogenesis in the bone marrow. Moreover, angiogenesis, inflammatory process and miRNAs have shown effects in the formation of osteoporosis. In the recent years, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been regarded as an excellent choice for cell-based tissue engineering therapy of osteoporosis. Growing evidence showed that paracrine effect has been considered as the predominant mechanism for the role of MSCs in tissue repair. Recently, many studies have proposed that MSCs-derived exosomes are effective for a variety of diseases like cancer, cardiovascular diseases, etc. However, whether the MSCs-derived exosomes could serve as a novel therapeutic tool for osteoporosis has not clearly described. In this review, we summarize the MSCs-derived exosomes and the relationship with osteogenesis, osteoclast differentiation, angiogenesis, immune processes and miRNAs. Finally, we suggest that MSCs-derived exosomes might be a promising therapeutic method for osteoporosis in the future.

STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive study. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the hidden blood loss (HBL) of patients who underwent lumbar fusion surgery for degenerative spine and to analyze its risk factors. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: When planning transfusion strategies, blood loss calculation is important. However, in clinical practice, spine surgeons usually ignore the possibility that a large amount of HBL may occur after lumbar fusion surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We studied the patients who underwent posterior lumbar fusion (PLF) surgery for degenerative spine from 2014 to 2015 in one institution. The patient's demographics, comorbid conditions, coagulation panel value, surgical time, number of levels fused, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification, cell saver, preoperative hematocrit level, preoperative hemoglobin level, and postoperative complications were collected retrospectively. Pearson correlation analyses were used to find an association between patient characteristics and HBL. Multivariate linear analysis was used to determine independent risk factors of HBL. RESULTS: We reviewed 169 consecutive patients who underwent PLF surgery for degenerative spine in one institution. The mean amount of HBL was 588 mL, which was 39% of the total blood loss. On the basis of the model of multiple linear regression analysis, the multilevel fusion (P=0.001), surgical time (P=0.034), and fibrinogen level (P=0.027) were independent risk factors that contributed to HBL, but age of 60 years or above (P=0.110), postoperative complications (P=0.278), and cell saver were not (P=0.739). CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that a large amount of HBL may occur in patients who underwent PLF surgery for degenerative spine. In addition, significant hidden loss may have a correlation with postoperative mortality. Multilevel fused, surgical time, and fibrinogen level should be paid close attention when considering strategies of fluid infusion and blood transfusion.

BACKGROUND: Insufficient cement distribution (ICD) in the fractured area has been advocated to be responsible for unsatisfied pain relief after percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). However, little is known about risk factors for the occurrence of ICD. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to identify independent risk factors of the emergence of ICD. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study. SETTING: Department of spinal surgery, an affiliated hospital of a medical university. METHODS: Patients who underwent PVP for single-level OVCF from January 2012 to September 2014 and met this study's inclusion criteria were retrospectively reviewed. Associations of ICD with co-variates (age, gender, bone mass density with a T-score, amount of injected cement, cement leakage, fracture level, fracture age, fracture severity grade, and location of the fractured area) and the influence of ICD on pain relief were analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 225 patients were included. ICD was found in 26 (11.6%) patients. Fractured area located in the superior portion of the index vertebra was significantly associated with occurrence of ICD. No further significant associations between the studied co-variates and emergence of ICD were seen in the adjusted analysis. In addition, patients with ICD had significantly higher immediate postoperative visual analog scale scores of back pain compared with those with sufficient cement distribution in the fractured area. LIMITATION: Location of the fractured area and cement distribution in the fractured area could not be evaluated quantitatively. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of ICD is higher in patients with the fractured area located in the superior portion of the index vertebra and ICD might be responsible for unsatisfied pain relief after PVP for OVCFs. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective study. OBJECTIVES: Anterior cervical fusion surgery is widely used procedure in cervical spondylosis. When considering the blood reinfusion strategies of cervical fusion surgery, the amount of blood loss is one of the key elements. We usually calculate the blood loss according to the surgical bleeding plus the postoperative drainage; however, this method ignores the possibility that there may be hidden blood loss (HBL). METHODS: We performed a retrospective study to determine the risk factors for HBL in patients who underwent anterior cervical fusion surgery for degenerative spine from 2013 to 2016. The Pearson correlation, Spearman correlation, and multivariate liner analysis were used to find association between patient characteristics and HBL. RESULTS: A total of 107 consecutive patients who underwent anterior cervical fusion surgery for degenerative spine in our hospital were reviewed. The amount of HBL was 261 mL, or 50% of the total blood loss. According to the model of multiple linear regression analysis, patient sex (P = 0.028) and American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification (P = 0.029) were independent risk factors contributing to HBL, but preoperative hematocrit was not (P = 0.741). CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that sex and American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status classification were independent risk factors of HBL in anterior cervical fusion surgery. In addition, there was a high proportion of HBL in anterior cervical fusion. When considering the strategies of transfusion, we should pay attention to the risk factors for HBL.

BACKGROUND: Under the transcriptional control of numerous factors and intracellular signals, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can differentiate into various cell types, including adipocytes and osteoblasts. However, the precise cellular signaling factors that determine the cell fate of MSCs in bone marrow remain largely unknown. OBJECTIVE: In this review, we focus on the ties of PPAR-γ and Wnt signaling in MSC differentiation into adipocytes and osteoblasts. RESULTS: Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) is well established as a prime inducer of adipogenesis, while the Wnt pathway is regarded as the master moderator of osteogenesis. A theoretical inverse relationship exists between adipogenic and osteogenic lineage commitment and differentiation: the differentiation toward an osteoblast phenotype occurs at the expense of an adipocyte phenotype. CONCLUSION: It has been proposed that the balance between osteogenic and adipogeneic MSC differentiation is disrupted in diverse areas of human health. Therefore, understanding the ties between PPAR- γand Wnt signaling in MSC differentiation has significant implications in diverse areas of human health, from obesity to osteoporosis to regenerative medicine.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have reported a high incidence of re-collapse of the augmented vertebrae after percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) with intravertebral vacuum cleft (IVC) during long-term follow-up. Previous IVC might be considered an important predisposing factor for re-collapse, but the prior studies could not find a significant correlation. OBJECTIVE: To determine the incidence and distribution characteristics of IVCs and to further assess IVCs in their varied locations. To assess the long-term therapeutic efficacy of PVA for OVCFs with IVC. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study. SETTING: Department of spinal surgery, an affiliated hospital of a medical university. METHODS: A retrospective review was performed on 594 patients who underwent PVA to treat OVCFs from January 2010 to December 2013. Eighty-two patients with the IVC sign were enrolled in the study. The follow-up period was a minimum of 2 years. The difference between IVC and non-IVC patients was compared. Comparisons of the radiological and clinical findings at varied IVC locations were made pre-operatively and post-operatively (immediate, at one year, and at 2 years). RESULTS: IVC incidence correlated with older patient age and severe demineralization. Other baseline parameters showed no significant differences. The rate of cement leakage and vertebral fracture was significantly lower in the IVC groups than in the non-IVC groups intraoperatively. There was no significant difference in the incidence of cement leakage or adjacent vertebral fractures between the 3 IVC groups. In the immediate postoperative period, all patients benefited from significant improvement in vertebral body height and kyphotic angle correction. However, significant re-collapse was observed at the 2-year post-operative follow-up for the IVC patients when compared to the non-IVC patients. Among the 3 IVC groups, the most severe re-collapse was observed with inferior endplate IVCs. Superior endplate IVCs and IVCs extending to both endplates demonstrated only mild re-collapse at the 2-year follow-up. LIMITATION: Due to the infrequency of this process, the number of patients with IVCs was small. CONCLUSION: PVA treatment was initially effective in all patients with OVCFs. However, significant re-collapse of the augmented vertebrae with IVCs, especially those with inferior endplate IVCs, was found with long-term follow-up. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the classification and treatment strategies of symptomatic severe osteoporotic vertebral fracture and collapse. METHODS: Between August 2010 and January 2014, 42 patients with symptomatic severe osteoporotic vertebral fracture and collapse were treated, and the clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. According to clinical symptom and imaging materials, 23 cases were classified as type I (local pain, limitation of motion, no neurological symptom, and no obvious deformity), 12 cases as type II (slight neurological symptom and kyphotic Cobb angle < or = 30 degrees), and 7 cases as type III (severe neurological symptom and kyphotic Cobb angle >30 degrees). In 23 type I patients, 17 underwent percutaneous vertebral augmentation, 6 underwent posterior pedicle screw fixation strengthened with bone cement combined with percutaneous vertebral augmentation. In 12 type II patients, they were treated with local spinal decompression and internal fixation strengthened with bone cement. In 7 type III patients, 5 underwent posterior osteotomy, and 2 underwent one stage posterior approach of vertebral resection and reconstruction. The visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), and local kyphotic Cobb angle were used to evaluate the neurological function. The complications were recorded. RESULTS: The operation was successfully completed in all patients. Wound infection and ketoacidosis secondary to stress blood glucose rise occurred in 1 case of type III patients respectively, and were cured after corresponding treatment; primary healing of wound was obtained in the other patients. The patients were followed up from 6 to 36 months (mean, 11.6 months). The nerve function was improved in 17 cases, and micturition disability was observed in 2 cases. Asymptomatic cement leakage occurred in 13 cases (30.95%) (7 cases in type I, 4 cases in type II, and 2 cases in type III). No bone cement dislocation and internal fixation failure were found during follow-up. The VAS score, ODI, and the local kyphotic Cobb angle at 1 week and last follow-up were significantly improved when compared with preoperative ones (P<0.05), but no significant difference was found between at 1 week and last follow-up (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: In order to improve the effectiveness and reduce the risk and complications of operation, individualized strategies should be performed according to different types of severe osteoporotic vertebral fracture and collapse.

STUDY DESIGN: The risk factors for cement leakage were retrospectively reviewed in 192 patients who underwent percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA). OBJECTIVE: To discuss the factors related to the cement leakage in PVA procedure for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: PVA is widely applied for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures. Cement leakage is a major complication of this procedure. The risk factors for cement leakage were controversial. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review of 192 patients who underwent PVA was conducted. The following data were recorded: age, sex, bone density, number of fractured vertebrae before surgery, number of treated vertebrae, severity of the treated vertebrae, operative approach, volume of injected bone cement, preoperative vertebral compression ratio, preoperative local kyphosis angle, intraosseous clefts, preoperative vertebral cortical bone defect, and ratio and type of cement leakage. To study the correlation between each factor and cement leakage ratio, bivariate regression analysis was employed to perform univariate analysis, whereas multivariate linear regression analysis was employed to perform multivariate analysis. RESULTS: The study included 192 patients (282 treated vertebrae), and cement leakage occurred in 100 vertebrae (35.46%). The vertebrae with preoperative cortical bone defects generally exhibited higher cement leakage ratio, and the leakage is typically type C. Vertebrae with intact cortical bones before the procedure tend to experience type S leakage. Univariate analysis showed that patient age, bone density, number of fractured vertebrae before surgery, and vertebral cortical bone were associated with cement leakage ratio (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the main factors influencing bone cement leakage are bone density and vertebral cortical bone defect, with standardized partial regression coefficients of -0.085 and 0.144, respectively. CONCLUSION: High bone density and vertebral cortical bone defect are independent risk factors associated with bone cement leakage.

A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials was performed that compares the relationship between percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) and conservative treatments with the incidence of new vertebral fractures. Using meta-analytic techniques, this study compares PVA and conservative treatment for incidence of new vertebral fractures, particularly incidence of adjacent fractures that occur following treatment.A focus of clinicians has been on whether PVA increases the risk of new vertebral fractures. Pubmed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched to retrieve literature published from the establishment of the databases until April 28, 2015. Literature of related areas was searched manually. The main outcome indicator was the incidence of new vertebral fractures at final follow-up appointment. In addition, we evaluated the incidence of new vertebral fractures in different follow-up periods and the incidence of adjacent fractures. The RevMan 5.3 software program of the Cochrane Collaboration was used to analyze the data. For dichotomous variables, the risk ratio (RR) and a confidence interval (CI) of 95% were used to express the heterogeneity of the effect size. Seven randomized controlled trial studies were selected from the literature. The studies include 871 patients, 436 of whom received PVA treatment and the rest received conservative treatment. Combined analysis of the 7 studies showed that the numbers of new vertebral fractures in the 2 groups are not significantly different. Six studies reported the numbers of new adjacent fractures. Considering the heterogeneity among the studies, 2 subgroups were formed. The 5 studies in the European group showed that the incidence of new adjacent fractures in the PVA-treated group is higher than that in the conservatively treated group, and the difference is statistically significant. The one study in the Asian group showed no significant difference between the incidences of adjacent fractures in the 2 groups. PVA treatment does not increase the incidence of new vertebral fractures. Most studies reported that PVA increases the incidence of adjacent fractures, yet it is rarely stated that both PVA and conservative treatment lead to the same incidence of adjacent fractures.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a method of detecting spinal tuberculosis (TB) infection by enzyme-linked immunospot (ELlSPOT) assay and evaluate the value of CFP10/ESAT6 fusion protein for diagnosis of spinal TB. METHODS: Suspected spinal TB patients were prospectively recruited in two hospitals (First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University) from May 2012 to December 2013. Data on clinical characteristics of the patients and conventional laboratory results were collected. Compare and analyze the positive detection rate in spinal TB diagnosis by different methods including ELISPOT detection and conventional detection methods. RESULTS: 47 patients with spinal TB had available biopsy or surgical specimens for histopathological examination and 41 specimens had pathological features consistent with a diagnosis of TB infection. Among the spinal TB patients and non-TB disease patients,the overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the ELISPOT assay in spinal TB diagnosis were 82.7%,87.2%,89.6%, and 79.1%,respectively; the 4 indexes of the PPD skin test were 61.5%, 46.2%, 60.4%, and 47.4%, respectively;those of the antibody detection were 55.8%, 61.5%, 65.9%, and 51.1%. The positive rate of ELISPOT was significantly higher than those of PPD skin test and antibody detection test (82.7% vs. 61.5%, Χ² =5.786, P=0.016; 82.7% vs. 55.8%, Χ² =8.847, P=0.003), but not significantly different from the positive rate of pathological examination (82.7% vs. 87.2%, Χ² =0.396, P=0.529). Moderate agreement was found between pathological examination and the ELISPOT assay (87.2%, Κ=0.498, P=0.001). CONCLUSION: With high sensitivity and specificity, the ELISPOT assay using CFP10/ESAT6 fusion protein as antigen is an effective technique for auxiliary diagnosis of spinal TB.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the risk factors of cement leakage in percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF). METHODS: Between March 2011 and March 2012, 98 patients with single level OVCF were treated by PVP, and the clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. There were 13 males and 85 females, with a mean age of 77.2 years (range, 54-95 years). The mean disease duration was 43 days (range, 15-120 days), and the mean T score of bone mineral density (BMD) was -3.8 (range, -6.7- -2.5). Bilateral transpedicular approach was used in all the patients. The patients were divided into cement leakage group and no cement leakage group by occurrence of cement leakage based on postoperative CT. Single factor analysis was used to analyze the difference between 2 groups in T score of BMD, operative level, preoperative anterior compression degree of operative vertebrae, preoperative middle compression degree of operative vertebrae, preoperative sagittal Cobb angle of operative vertebrae, preoperative vertebral body wall incompetence, cement volume, and volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body. All relevant factors were introduced to logistic regression analysis to analyze the risk factors of cement leakage. RESULTS: All procedures were performed successfully. The mean operation time was 40 minutes (range, 30-50 minutes), and the mean volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body was 24.88% (range, 7.84%-38.99%). Back pain was alleviated significantly in all the patients postoperatively. All patients were followed up with a mean time of 8 months (range, 6-12 months). Cement leakage occurred in 49 patients. Single factor analysis showed that there were significant differences in the volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body and preoperative vertebral body wall incompetence between 2 groups (P < 0.05), while no significant difference in T score of BMD, operative level, preoperative anterior compression degree of operative vertebrae, preoperative middle compression degree of operative vertebrae, preoperative sagittal Cobb angle of operative vertebrae, and cement volume (P > 0.05). The logistic regression analysis showed that the volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body (P < 0.05) and vertebral body wall incompetence (P < 0.05) were the risk factors for occurrence of cement leakage. CONCLUSION: The volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body and vertebral body wall incompetence are risk factors of cement leakage in PVP for OVCF. Cement leakage is easy to occur in operative level with vertebral body wall incompetence and high volume ratio of intravertebral bone cement to vertebral body.
