RESUMO

It is suggested that individuals with limited health literacy have less awareness about cancer and screening methods. However, there is a paucity of evidence regarding the relationship between cancer screening perception and health literacy levels among women. This study investigates the determinants of cancer screening perceptions in Turkish women, with a particular emphasis on the influence of health literacy. Employing a cross-sectional design, the study involved 428 women aged 18-69. Data were collected via online questionnaires. Hierarchical regression analysis was utilized to assess the effects of distinct variables on cancer screening perceptions. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were employed to validate and ensure reliability. The results indicated that the constructed hierarchical regression model explicated around 10% of the variance in cancer screening perceptions. Among the various factors examined, health literacy emerged as the most potent predictor of screening perceptions. Individuals possessing higher health literacy demonstrated more favorable attitudes toward cancer screening. Additionally, age surfaced as another notable determinant, with advanced age correlating positively with awareness and receptiveness to screening. This research reveals the pivotal role of health literacy in shaping how Turkish women perceive cancer screening. While a few factors have an impact, the study highlights the urgent need to elevate health literacy levels to foster heightened awareness and engagement in cancer screening programs. The study's findings offer valuable guidance for devising targeted interventions to address disparities in cancer screening perception and participation, particularly among women in low- to middle-income countries such as Turkey.

OBJECTIVE: A substantial amount of work addressing strategies on how to respond to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis already exists. However, there is simply not enough evidence to support a systematic and all-encompassing approach. This study aims to systematically review and present the roadmap of Turkiye's response to COVID-19. METHODS: This study is based on a thematic content analysis of official policy documents to present the roadmap in Turkiye's fight against COVID-19. The analysis included 46 press releases accessed from the Ministry of Health's website. The coding structure was created by the researchers based on the literature. Documents were analyzed by dividing them into 3 periods: the panic period, the controlled normalization period, and the normalization period. Each document was sub-coded under the main themes of "concerns" and "strategies" and interpreted by comparing them with each other. RESULTS: The study results show that different categories and coding structures were formed between periods. Some categories that emerged under the theme of concerns were "vaccine concerns" and "social concerns." Similarly, some categories that appeared under the theme of strategies were "vaccine strategies," "monitoring and surveillance strategies," and "intervention strategies." CONCLUSION: The results provide policy-makers with an appropriate conceptual framework to deal with the pandemic crisis that may be encountered in the future.

Despite extensive research having been carried out on nurse-physician collaboration, there remains a paucity of evidence on how collaboration interacts with organizational commitment and its effect on turnover intention. This study aims to determine the mediating role of nurse-physician collaboration on the effect of organizational commitment on turnover intention. We used a cross-sectional design based on voluntary paper surveys from the inpatient clinics of six public hospitals in the north of Turkey. Data including measures of nurse-physician collaboration, organizational commitment, and turnover intention were collected from a convenience sample of the nurses (n = 212) and physicians (n = 109). Pearson's correlation analysis was used to determine the relationships between variables, and the mediating effect was analyzed with PROCESS Macro "Model 4" for IBM SPSS. Statistical significance was specified at 95% confidence intervals and two-tailed P values of <0.05 for all tests. While most of the participants were nurses (66%), 34% were physicians. For both nurses and physicians, organizational commitment and nurse-physician collaboration negatively affected the turnover intention. However, the mediating role of nurse-physician collaboration was only significant for nurses (b = -0.025). The results demonstrate the importance of harmony, joint decision-making, and responsibility-sharing between nurses and physicians concerning dedication, engagement, and job satisfaction, especially for nurses.
