[Video-screen work from an occupational medicine viewpoint]. / Bildschirmarbeit aus arbeitsmedizinischer Sicht.

The problem of potential health implications in visual display units (VDUS) workers does not exist when the requested ergonomic equipment of the working place is realized. Repetitive gestures and compulsive attitudes must be avoided. A healthy or optimally corrected visual organ is a prerequisite, as well. According to the hitherto knowledge there is neither to observe a harm of the germ-cells with a raised risk of malformations and abortions due to the emission of electromagnetic waves of the VDUs nor health implication of the pregnant woman. The works doctor has to realize the medical care.

[Work disability and invalidism of women following surgically treated genital cancer]. / Arbeitsunfähigkeit und Invalidisierung bei Frauen nach operiertem Genitalkarzinom.

An expert assessment of the fitness for work and vigour of women after gynaecological cancer operations has to be made by an experienced medical specialist who is well acquainted with the problem. The role of individual decisions on the basis of secure scientific knowledge gets more and more dominating with emphasis placed on the assessment of functional achievements. -Important assessment criteria are the following: stage of tumour, histology, degree of differentiation, type of therapy and possible consequences of therapy as well as psycho-social factors and elements of working medicine. In any case the consideration of individual consequences of illness and medical treatment remains the decisive criterion at the time of evaluation. -This paper should serve as guidance for the assessment of disablement/disability of women after gynaecological cancer operations in the framework of a graduated therapy concept.

[Experiences with expert opinion in gynecological urology]. / Gutachterliche Erfahrungen aus der Gynäkologischen Urologie.

Lesions of the ureters and the bladder are represented with a relatively high portion of 40% within all gynaecological and obstetrical cases under expert opinion in the Central Office for Medical Expert Opinion. The so far mostly practisized judgement as an operational risk could not generally be consented. It is therefore that the Central Office for Medical Expert Opinion elaborated the directive No. 9: "Medical expert opinion of urological complications connected to gynaecological operations". The directive first of all means to coordinate the work within the expert opinion commissions at district level; it furtheron motivates the operator to think over his mode of action. Experiences from expert opinion result in perceiving the following main points: Even in technically simple operations the operator must know the course of the ureter; 2. if its course is not clear it must be made visible dependent on the operational situation in each case; 3. the preoperative methods of urological diagnosis have to be appropriate to the intended operation; 4. even in smallest grounds for suspicion of a lesion or complication a consequent control is necessary; a detailed documentation of the operational course is needed for various reasons; 6. the correction of lesions of the ureters and the bladder requires experience and operational ability. Because of possible grave damages to the woman the operator must be conscious of the limits of his ability. Details are demonstrated by examples of the Central Office for Medical Expert Opinion.

[Climacterium in the woman professionally employed in agriculture]. / Uber das Klimakterium der in der Landwirtschaft berufstätigen Frau.

Social-gynecological investigations of 1500 women working in different groups of Agricultural Cooperative Production of German Democratic Republic make it possible, to give a review on the occurrence and the treatment of climacterical diseases. Possible relations between working-groups, working-form, professional qualification and frequenzy of climacterical diseases are demonstrated. Finally fitness of working woman in climacteric is pointing out.

PIP: A study of 337 women, 41-60 years of age, who are employed in the agricultural industry in East Germany is presented. 59.6% of these women went through menopause without difficulty. Women involved in administration showed a lower incidence of menopausal disorders. Also, women with professional qualifications had a significantly lower incidence of menopausal disorders. The number of women between 40 and 60 among working women has increased 34% in recent years.

[Surgical management of vaginal prolapse following total uterus extirpation]. / Operative Behandlungen des Vaginalprolapses nach Totalexstirpation des Uterus.

After discussing the frequency, aetiology, pathogenesis, possibilities for gynaecological surgery of true prolapse of the vaginal vault, which is limited of general vaginal prolapse following hysterectomy, were given information about own results of treatment in seven true cases (--0,65%) within eleven cases of prolapse of the vaginal vault under 1075 hysterectomies. The vaginal excision of peritoneal prolapse and plastic correction of the vaginal vault for preserving the functional capacity for intercourse were carried out with success in all the seven cases in one case bye the methode of SYMMONDS and PRATT. An anterior colporrhaphy snd a posterior colpoperineorrhaphy were carried out in other four cases. Hints were finally given for prophylaxis of prolapse of the vaginal vault.

[Histological diagnosis and therapy of rare breast neoplasms]. / Zur histologischen Diagnostik und Therapie seltener Mammatumoren

Occasional rare benign and malignant breast tumours present diagnostical difficulties, how a report on 8 rare forms of tumours among 564 breast rumors (351 benign, 213 malignant) of the years 1965--1972 at the Universitäts-Frauenklinik Greifswald shows. We found among 351 benign breast tumours 2 rare forms: 1 tubular adenoma and 1 nodular lymphoreticulosis. We diagnosed among 213 malignant breast tumours 6 rare tumour-types: one at a case an unilateral respectively a bilateral noninvasive lobular carcinoma from the carcinoma-in-situ-type, 1 spindlecell- and 2 reticulosarcoma, which in one case the starting-point of the heterogeneous differentiated reticulosarcoma was obvious situated in a teratoid tumour. Last case dealt with a real cystosarcoma phylloides, of which oncological and terminological problems were additional discussed.
