RESUMO

Ageing is an inevitable process that affects various tissues and organs of the human body, leading to a series of physiological and pathological changes. Mechanisms such as telomere depletion, stem cell depletion, macrophage dysfunction, and cellular senescence gradually manifest in the body, significantly increasing the incidence of diseases in elderly individuals. These mechanisms interact with each other, profoundly impacting the quality of life of older adults. As the ageing population continues to grow, the burden on the public health system is expected to intensify. Globally, the prevalence of musculoskeletal system diseases in elderly individuals is increasing, resulting in reduced limb mobility and prolonged suffering. This review aims to elucidate the mechanisms of ageing and their interplay while exploring their impact on diseases such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and sarcopenia. By delving into the mechanisms of ageing, further research can be conducted to prevent and mitigate its effects, with the ultimate goal of alleviating the suffering of elderly patients in the future.

RESUMO

Seawater batteries that directly utilize natural seawater as electrolytes are ideal sustainable aqueous devices with high safety, exceedingly low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, the present seawater batteries are either primary batteries or rechargeable half-seawater/half-nonaqueous batteries because of the lack of suitable anode working in seawater. Here, a unique lattice engineering to unlock the electrochemically inert anatase TiO2 anode to be highly active for the reversible uptake of multiple cations (Na+, Mg2+, and Ca2+) in aqueous electrolytes is demonstrated. Density functional theory calculations further reveal the origin of the unprecedented charge storage behaviors, which can be attributed to the significant reduction of the cations diffusion barrier within the lattice, i.e., from 1.5 to 0.4 eV. As a result, the capacities of anatase TiO2 with 2.4% lattice expansion are ≈100 times higher than the routine one in natural seawater, and ≈200 times higher in aqueous Na+ electrolyte. The finding will significantly advance aqueous seawater energy storage devices closer to practical applications.

RESUMO

The growth of the biodiesel industry has resulted in significant quantity of crude glycerol. It is necessary to explore the synthesis of high-value-added products from crude glycerol. In this study, the enzymatic synthesis of monoglycerides under solvent-free conditions, employing crude glycerol as the primary feedstock, had been investigated. The analysis showed that the highest yield of monoglycerides was obtained after 12 h, and Novozym 435 showed the highest monoglyceride yield of 18.41 % among the three lipases tested, followed by Lipozyme TL IM and Lipozyme RM IM. Monoglycerides were synthesized from biodiesel-derived crude glycerol using Novozym 435 as the catalyst under solvent-free conditions at different parameters, which were catalyst concentration, substrate molar ratio, and temperature. The yield of monoglycerides was examined in single-factor experiments. Response surface methodology (RSM) was subsequently employed to optimize the synthesis conditions based on the single-factor experimental results. The optimal conditions were at an enzyme concentration of 12.7 wt% and a molar ratio of crude glycerol:oil of 5.7:1 at a reaction temperature of 65.2 °C. The experimental yield of monoglycerides under the optimal conditions was 28.93 %, which is close to the value predicted from the RSM model (29.02 %).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To explore the therapeutic effect of Fu's subcutaneous needling at myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) on pain, lumbar mobility and the quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH), so as to provide clinicians with new ideas and methods in treating LDH. METHODS: One hundred patients with LDH admitted to department of rehabilitation medicine of the affiliated hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2022 to January 2023 were collected as the subjects, and they were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 50 cases in each one. In the observation group, the spreading technique of Fu's subcutaneous needling was delivered at MTrP. In the control group, the routine acupuncture was applied to Shenshu (BL23), Weizhong (BL40) and MTrP. The treatment was given 3 times weekly, for 2 weeks in the two groups. The score of visual analogue scale (VAS) was evaluated before treatment, at the moment after the 1st treatment completion and after 2 weeks of treatment, separately, and the inclinometer was adopted to measure the range of motion (ROM) of the lumbar flexion, extension and lateral flexion. The numbers of MTrPs and their distribution were recorded before treatment and after the completion of a 2-week treatment in the two groups. Before treatment and in 4 weeks of follow-up, using SF-36 scale, the score of the quality of life was evaluated. The incidence of adverse effects was recorded. RESULTS: At the moment of the 1st treatment completion and after 2 weeks of treatment, VAS score and ROM of the lumbar region were significantly improved in comparison with those before treatment in the two groups and the improvement was superior in the observation group compared with the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). After 2 weeks of treatment, the total number of MTrPs and the counts of MTrPs in each muscle zone were reduced when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). In the observation group, the total number of MTrPs and numbers of MTrPs in the zones of quadratus lumborum, musculi multifidus and musculi iliocostalis lumborum decreased significantly when compared with the control group (P<0.05), while the difference was not significant in the numbers in the zone of musculi glutaeus medius between the two groups. In 4 weeks of follow-up, the scores of SF-36 scale were improved in comparison with those before treatment in each group and the result in the observation was better (P<0.05). No any adverse events occurred during treatment in the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Fu's subcutaneous needling is effective for reducing the numbers of MTrPs and improving analgesia, ROM of the lumbar region, as well as the long-term quality of life in the patients with LDH.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of core strengthening exercises on pain, mobility, and lower extremity muscle strength in patients with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFP). DESIGN: Six databases were searched from inception until August 11, 2023. Pain, function and muscle strength related outcomes were extracted and the quality of the studies was assessed using the PEDro scale and the level of evidence was assessed using the GRADE. RESULTS: Nineteen studies involving 1138 patients were included. Very low-grade evidence supported the short-term pain-relieving effect of core training (SMD = -0.60 95% CI [-0.95, -0.25]), high-grade evidence supported the short-term functional improvement effects of core training (WMD = 3.61 95% CI [1.44, 5.78]), which was similarly significant within 3-12 months of follow-up. The results of the subgroup analyses suggested that hip-knee training was most advantageous in relieving pain and enhancing motor function. CONCLUSIONS: Although training that includes trunk core is clearly superior to knee strengthening alone, the effectiveness of hip-knee training, which is also a core training program for pain and function, is more pronounced. The available evidence supports that hip-knee training is the most valuable treatment option for patients with PFP.

RESUMO

Zinc-based aqueous batteries (ZABs) are attracting extensive attention due to the low cost, high capacity, and environmental benignity of the zinc anode. However, their application is still hindered by the undesired zinc dendrites. Despite Zn-surface modification being promising in relieving dendrites, a thick separator (i.e. glass fiber, 250-700 µm) is still required to resist the dendrite puncture, which limits volumetric energy density of battery. Here, we pivot from the traditional interphase plus extra separator categories, proposing an all-in-one ligand buffer layer (ca. 20 µm) to effectively modulate the Zn2+ transfer and deposition behaviors proved by in situ electrochemical digital holography. Experimental characterizations and density functional theory simulations further reveal that the catechol groups in the buffer layer can accelerate the Zn2+ reduction reaction (ZRR) through the electron-donating p-π conjugation effect, decreasing the negative charge in the coordination environment. Without extra separators, the elaborated system endows low polarization below 28.2 mV, long lifespan of 4950 h at 5 mA cm-2 in symmetric batteries, and an unprecedented volumetric energy density of 99.2 Wh L-1 based on the whole pouch cells. The concomitantly "separator-free" and "dendrite-free" conjugation effect with an accelerated ZRR process could foster the progression of metallic anodes and benefit energetic aqueous batteries.

RESUMO

A reliable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on the metallic Zn anode is imperative for stable Zn-based aqueous batteries. However, the incompatible Zn-ion reduction processes, scilicet simultaneous adsorption (capture) and desolvation (repulsion) of Zn2+(H2O)6, raise kinetics and stability challenges for the design of SEI. Here, we demonstrate a tandem chemistry strategy to decouple and accelerate the concurrent adsorption and desolvation processes of the Zn2+ cluster at the inner Helmholtz layer. An electrochemically assembled perforative mesopore SiO2 interphase with tandem hydrophilic -OH and hydrophobic -F groups serves as a Janus mesopores accelerator to boost a fast and stable Zn2+ reduction reaction. Combining in situ electrochemical digital holography, molecular dynamics simulations, and spectroscopic characterizations reveals that -OH groups capture Zn2+ clusters from the bulk electrolyte and then -F groups repulse coordinated H2O molecules in the solvation shell to achieve the tandem ion reduction process. The resultant symmetric batteries exhibit reversible cycles over 8000 and 2000 h under high current densities of 4 and 10 mA cm-2, respectively. The feasibility of the tandem chemistry is further evidenced in both Zn//VO2 and Zn//I2 batteries, and it might be universal to other aqueous metal-ion batteries.

RESUMO

With the rapid development of biodiesel, biodiesel-derived glycerol has become a promising renewable bioresource. The key to utilizing this bioresource lies in the value-added conversion of crude glycerol. While purifying crude glycerol into a pure form allows for diverse applications, the intricate nature of this process renders it costly and environmentally stressful. Consequently, technology facilitating the direct utilization of unpurified crude glycerol holds significant importance. It has been reported that crude glycerol can be bio-transformed or chemically converted into high-value polymers. These technologies provide cost-effective alternatives for polymer production while contributing to a more sustainable biodiesel industry. This review article describes the global production and quality characteristics of biodiesel-derived glycerol and investigates the influencing factors and treatment of the composition of crude glycerol including water, methanol, soap, matter organic non-glycerol, and ash. Additionally, this review also focused on the advantages and challenges of various technologies for converting crude glycerol into polymers, considering factors such as the compatibility of crude glycerol and the control of unfavorable factors. Lastly, the application prospect and value of crude glycerol conversion were discussed from the aspects of economy and environmental protection. The development of new technologies for the increased use of crude glycerol as a renewable feedstock for polymer production will be facilitated by the findings of this review, while promoting mass market applications.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with active exercise training in improving pain and function of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) individuals. DATA SOURCES: PubMed, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan Fang Data, Technology Periodical Database and China Biology Medicine were searched from their inceptions to April 5, 2023. REVIEW METHODS: We analyzed trials of acupuncture combined with active exercise training for KOA. The included studies were of high quality (Jadad ≥ 4) and RCTs. Study selection, data extraction, risk of bias and quality assessment were independently performed by two reviewers. We performed systematic analyses based on different outcome measures, including total efficiency rate, visual analogue scale (VAS), the Western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the Lysholm Knee Scale (LKS) and range of motion (ROM). We used Review Manager 5.3 and Stata/MP 14.0 to analyze the data. And it was verified by trial sequence analysis (TSA). If I2 > 50% and p < 0.05, we performed sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis to find the source of heterogeneity. Publication bias was studied by funnel plot and Egger's test was used to verify it. RESULTS: Full 11 high-quality studies (Jadad ≥ 4) including 774 KOA individuals were included in this review for meta-analysis. The results showed that acupuncture combined with active exercise training (combined group) was superior to the acupuncture group in improving the total effective rate [RR = 1.13, 95%CI (1.05, 1.22), I2 = 0%, P = 0.70], reducing the pain level (VAS) [MD = - 0.74, 95%CI (- 1.04, - 0.43), I2 = 68%, P < 0.05], improving knee joint function (WOMAC) [MD = - 6.97, 95%CI (- 10.74, - 3.19), I2 = 76%, P < 0.05] and improving joint range of motion (ROM) [MD = 6.25, 95%CI (2.37, 10.04), I2 = 0%, P = 0.71]. Similarly, the combined group showed significant improvements in the total effective rate [RR = 1.31, 95% CI (1.18, 1.47), I2 = 48%, P = 0.10], pain (VAS) [MD = 1.42, 95% CI (- 1.85, - 1.00), I2 = 65%, P = 0.02] and knee function (WOMAC) [MD = 7.05, 95% CI (- 11.43, - 2.66), I2 = 86%, P < 0.05] compared with the non-acupuncture group. CONCLUSION: The combined effect of all studies showed significant benefits of acupuncture combined with active exercise training in improving the total effective rate, reducing pain, promoting recovery of knee function and expanding range of motion. However, some evaluation indicators are highly subjective and need to be further confirmed by more objective and evidence-based high-quality RCTs in future. RESUMO

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effects of different exercise rehabilitation (ER) programs on LVEF and the incidence of restenosis in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) through a systematic review and an integrated network meta-analysis (NMA) to provide a reference for the clinical formulation of ER programs for PCI patients. Methods: Meta-analyses of the effects of different types of ER programs on LVEF and the incidence of reinfarction in post-PCI patients were retrieved from 11 domestic and foreign databases. The methodological and reporting quality of the included systematic reviews were evaluated using the AMSTAR 2 and PRISMA statements. The GRADE scoring system was used to evaluate the quality of evidence found in the studies included in the meta-analysis, and studies with high and intermediate-quality evidence were qualitatively analyzed. Stata software (version 16.0) was used to conduct an integrated NMA of the original RCTs with moderate and low risk of bias. Result: Sixteen meta-analyses were included in this evaluation. The reporting quality of the included meta-analyses was relatively complete, and the methodological quality was low. Seventy RCTs were included in the NMA. The results showed that all types of rehabilitative exercises were safe and effectively increased LVEF and reduced the incidence of coronary restenosis in patients. The comprehensive exercise program was the most likely to improve LVEF, and the comprehensive exercise program, early exercise program, and high-intensity interval exercise were better than aerobic exercise. Comprehensive exercise programs, early exercise programs, and aerobic exercise reduced the incidence of restenosis in patients. However, Chinese Qigong did not reduce the incidence of restenosis in patients, and there was a risk of bias and inconsistency in the quantitative analysis of restenosis incidence. Conclusion: Comprehensive exercise programs have the greatest therapeutic significance in improving cardiac output and reducing restenosis rates in post-PCI patients. The early exercise program has great potential but requires kinesiologists to work with physicians to structure the program and strengthen out-of-hospital management. Aerobic exercise has the least therapeutic significance, and Chinese Qigong is suitable for promotion based on its better efficacy than aerobic exercise and may be an alternative to aerobic exercise, but more experimental evidence is needed. RESUMO

Zinc metal-based aqueous batteries (ZABs) offer a sustainable, affordable, and safe energy storage alternative to lithium, yet inevitable dendrite formation impedes their wide use, especially under long-term and high-rate cycles. How the battery can survive after dendrite formation remains an open question. Here, we pivot from conventional Zn dendrite growth suppression strategies, introducing proactive dendrite-digesting chemistry via a mesoporous Ti3C2 MXene (MesoTi3C2)-wrapped polypropylene separator. Spectroscopic characterizations and electrochemical evaluation demonstrate that MesoTi3C2, acting as an oxidant, can revive the formed dead Zn0 dendrites into electroactive Zn2+ ions through a spontaneous redox process. Density functional theory reveals that the abundant edge-Ti-O sites in our MesoTi3C2 facilitate high oxidizability and electron transfer from Zn0 dendrites compared to their in-plane counterparts. The resultant asymmetrical cell demonstrates remarkable ultralong cycle life of 2200 h at a practical current of 5 mA cm-2 with a low overpotential (<50 mV). The study reveals the unexpected edge effect of mesoporous MXenes and uncovers a new proactive dendrite-digesting chemistry to survive ZABs, albeit with inevitable dendrite formation.

RESUMO

Morchella sextelata, a highly sought-after edible mushroom worldwide, is evaluated based on its cap color as an essential commercial property indicator. In the present study, the effects of blue light on cap pigmentation in M. sextelata, as well as the synthesis and structural characteristics of melanin pigments within the cap were examined. The results showed that an increase in the proportion of blue light within the lighting environment promoted melanin synthesis and melanization of the cap. Transmission and scanning electron microscopy revealed the localization of melanin within the mycelium and its ultrastructural characteristics. The UV-visible analysis demonstrated that melanin exhibited a maximum absorption peak at 220 nm and possessed high alkaline solubility as well as acid precipitability. The structural characteristics of melanin were analyzed using FTIR, NMR, HPLC, and elemental analysis, which confirmed the presence of eumelanin, pheomelanin, and allomelanin in both brown and black caps. Furthermore, blue light can stimulate the synthesis of both eumelanin and pheomelanin. The obtained results can serve as the foundation for comprehending the mechanism by which light regulates color formation in mushrooms.

RESUMO

Zn-based aqueous batteries (ZABs) hold great promise for large-scale energy storage applications due to the merits of intrinsic safety and low cost. Nevertheless, the thorny issues of metallic Zn anodes, including dendrite growth and parasitic side reactions, have severely limited the application of ZABs. Despite the encouraging improvements for stabilizing Zn anodes through surface modification, electrolyte optimization, and structural design, fundamentally addressing the inherent thermodynamics and kinetics obstacles of Zn anodes remains crucial in realizing reliable ZABs with ultrahigh efficiency, capacity, and cyclability. The target of this perspective is to elucidate the prominent status of Zn metal anode electrochemistry first from the perspective of zincophilicity and zincophobicity. Recent progress in ZABs is critically appraised for addressing the key issues, with special emphasis on the trade-off between zincophilic and zincophobic electrochemistry. Challenges and prospects for further exploration of a reliable Zn anode are presented, which are expected to boost in-depth research and practical applications of advanced ZABs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) promote melanogenesis through activating NLRP3 inflammasome in fibroblasts. Although A20 has been highlighted to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activation, its roles and mechanisms remain elusive in photoaging-associated pigmentation. OBJECTIVES: To determine the significance of fibroblast A20 in AGEs-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pigmentation. METHODS: The correlation between A20 and AGEs or melanin was studied in sun-exposed skin and lesions of melasma and solar lentigo. We then investigated A20 level in AGEs-treated fibroblast and the effect of fibroblast A20 overexpression or knockdown on AGEs-BSA-induced NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pigmentation, respectively. Finally, the severity of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pigmentation was evaluated after mice were injected intradermally with A20-overexpression adeno-associated virus and AGEs-BSA. RESULTS: Dermal A20 expression was decreased and exhibited negative correlation with either dermal AGEs deposition or epidermal melanin level in sun-exposed skin and pigmentary lesions. Moreover, both AGEs-BSA and AGEs-collagen robustly decreased A20 expression via binding to RAGE in fibroblasts. Further, A20 overexpression or depletion significantly decreased or augmented AGEs-BSA-induced activation of NF-κB pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome and IL-18 production and secretion in fibroblasts, respectively. Importantly, fibroblast A20 potently repressed AGEs-BSA-stimulated melanin content, tyrosinase activity, and expression of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor and tyrosinase in melanocytes. Particularly, fibroblast A20 significantly abrogated AGEs-BSA-promoted melanogenesis in ex vivo skin and mouse models. Additionally, fibroblast A20 inhibited AGEs-BSA-activated MAPKs in melanocytes and the epidermis of ex vivo skin. CONCLUSIONS: Fibroblast A20 suppresses AGEs-stimulate melanogenesis in photoaging-associated hyperpigmentation disorders by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Both epidemiological and clinical studies have suggested the comorbidity between cutaneous melanoma (CM) and obesity-related physical traits. However, it remains unclear about their shared genetic architecture. OBJECTIVE: To determine the shared genetic architecture between CM and obesity-related physical traits through conditional false discovery rate (cFDR) analysis. METHOD: Quantile-quantile plots were firstly built to assess the pleiotropic enrichment of shared single nucleotide polymorphisms between CM and each trait. Then, cFDR and conjunctional cFDR (ccFDR) were used to identify the shared risk loci between CM and each trait. Moreover, the functional evaluation of shared risk genes was carried out through analyses of expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes and gene ontology, respectively. Finally, single-cell sequence analysis was performed to locate the expression of eQTL-mapped genes in tissues. RESULTS: Successive pleiotropic enrichment was found between CM and 5 obesity-related traits or height. 24 shared risk loci were identified between CM and 13 traits except appendicular lean mass using ccFDR analysis, with 17 novel and 4 validated loci. The functions of ccFDR-identified and eQTL-mapped genes were revealed to be mainly involved in cellular senescence, proliferation, meiotic nuclear division, cell cycle, and the metabolism of lipid, cholesterol and glucose. Single-cell sequence analysis showed that keratinocytes contribute to the occurrence and aggressiveness of CM through secreting paracrine cytokines. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrate the significant genetic correlation between CM and obesity-related physical traits, which may provide a novel genetical basis for the pathogenesis and treatment of CM.

RESUMO

Regenerative medicine is a complex discipline that is becoming a hot research topic. Skin, bone, and nerve regeneration dominate current treatments in regenerative medicine. A new type of drug is urgently needed for their treatment due to their high vulnerability to damage and weak self-repairing ability. A self-assembled peptide hydrogel is a good scaffolding material in regenerative medicine because it is similar to the cytoplasmic matrix environment; it promotes cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and division; and its degradation products are natural and harmless proteins. However, fewer studies have examined the specific mechanisms of self-assembled peptide hydrogels in promoting tissue regeneration. This review summarizes the applications and mechanisms of self-assembled short peptide and peptide hydrogels in skin, bone, and neural healing to improve their applications in tissue healing and regeneration.

RESUMO

With the impetus of flexible electronics and micro-nano fabrication technology, the human demand for flexible intelligent wearable devices is on an upsurge. In recent years, new functional fibers have undergone rapid development and emerged as an indispensable carrier of flexible wearable e-textiles. However, to achieve their functional applications and durability, new functional fibers must possess good electrical and mechanical properties. As an emerging two-dimensional material, MXenes have attracted immense attention for their high electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, specific surface area, adjustable surface properties, and exceptional processability. As such, MXenes have become an ideal candidate for the primary functional component of functional fibers. This paper presents a comprehensive review of research progress on MXene-based fibers in the construction of flexible wearable electronic textiles. Firstly, we briefly outline the preparation methods of MXenes materials. Next, we summarize the processing types of MXene-based fibers and highlight their performance parameters. Lastly, we summarize the primary application scenarios of MXene-based fibers and anticipate the future development of flexible wearable e-textiles.

RESUMO

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the number one killer threatening people's life and health, among which cardiovascular thrombotic events are the most common. As the cause of particularly serious cardiovascular events, thrombosis can trigger fatal crises such as acute coronary syndrome (myocardial infarction and unstable angina), cerebral infarction and so on. Circulating monocytes are an important part of innate immunity. Their main physiological functions are phagocytosis, removal of injured and senescent cells and their debris, and development into macrophages and dendritic cells. At the same time, they also participate in the pathophysiological processes of pro-coagulation and anticoagulation. According to recent studies, monocytes have been found to play a significant role in thrombosis and thrombotic diseases of the immune system. In this manuscript, we review the relationship between monocyte subsets and cardiovascular thrombotic events and analyze the role of monocytes in arterial thrombosis and their involvement in intravenous thrombolysis. Finally, we summarize the mechanism and therapeutic regimen of monocyte and thrombosis in hypertension, antiphospholipid syndrome, atherosclerosis, rheumatic heart disease, lower extremity deep venous thrombosis, and diabetic nephropathy.

RESUMO

Developing highly efficient and persistent transition-metal-phosphide (TMP)-based electrocatalysts is critical for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) via water splitting in alkaline media. Herein, we constructed a unique heterostructured CoFeP/CoP grown on a nickle foam (NF) via hydrothermal and dipping methods followed by phosphorization at different temperatures for HER. The experimental results exhibit that the HER activity of CoFeP/CoP-400 is accelerated after the construction of heterostructures. The unique heterostructure provides plentiful active sites and a large surface area, which are beneficial for HER in 1.0 M KOH. CoFeP/CoP-400 displays a small overpotential of 78 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 and a smaller Tafel slope of 55.5 mV dec-1. Moreover, CoFeP/CoP-400 shows excellent stability with a long-term operating time of 12 h. This work provides an effective method for the construction of TMPs with heterostructures for promoting energy conversion.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the effect of low-frequency (≤1 Hz) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (low-frequency rTMS) combined with antidepressants on depression and the levels of inflammatory factors IL-6 and TNF-α in patients with post-stroke depression (PSD). Design: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Technology Periodical Database, and Wanfang Database were searched until October 2022 for randomized controlled trials. Participants: Patients with post-stroke depression (PSD) participated in the study. Results: A total of 16 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1,463 patients with PSD were included. According to the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) quality assessment, three studies received high quality (eight scores) and 13 RCTs received moderate quality (six scores) results. The meta-analysis showed that low-rTMS combined with an antidepressant significantly reduced the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) score and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, reduced IL-6 and TNF-α levels, and improved the MMSE score in PSD compared to an antidepressant alone. Conclusion: The results of this meta-analysis evidenced the efficacy and safety of low-rTMS combined with antidepressants in the treatment of depression in PSD patients. The combined therapy could reduce The depression state and the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, and enhance the cognitive function of patients. In addition, low-rTMS had fewer adverse effects, proving safety. However, there are shortcomings, such as a lack of long-term follow-up, different intervention sites of low-rTMS, and different intervention frequencies (0.5 or 1 Hz). Thus, in the future, RCTs with a larger sample size and longer-term observation are required to verify the efectiveness of low-rTMS combined therapy on PSD. Meantime, a new meta-analysis could be analysized, which intervention sites and frequency are more effective in treating PSD.
