The diversity of fungi in wheat with different deoxynivalenol (DON) content at various periods post-harvest and in the environment of storage were investigated. The changes in DON content were measured with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), and an amplicon sequence analysis of fungi was performed in traditional storage structures using high-throughput sequencing. The changes in temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration were collected by sensors. In addition, we analyzed principal component analysis, species composition, species differences, and community differences of fungi. There was an obvious separation of the fungal communities under different storage conditions and times. Many fungal genera were gradually decreasing during storage and were eventually undetectable, and many fungal genera that were undetectable at first gradually increased during storage and even became dominant fungal genera. The competition between fungi was fierce. The competition between fungi were affected by the presence of DON. As the initial DON content increased, the contribution of inter-group differences became more obvious. The temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration of wheat in the silo's environment changed with extended storage time. The content of DON decreased with extended storage time. We had investigated the changes in DON content and their correlation with the changes in fungal communities and environmental factors, which showed a high degree of correlation. This study offers theoretical justification for optimizing safe wheat grain in traditional storage conditions.

Zearalenone, a prominent mycotoxin produced by Fusarium spp., ubiquitously contaminates cereal grains and animal feedstuffs. The thermal stability of zearalenone creates serious obstacles for traditional removal methods, which may introduce new safety issues, or reducing nutritional quality. In contrast, biological technologies provide appealing benefits such as easy to apply and effective, with low toxicity byproducts. Thus, this review aims to describe the occurrence of zearalenone in cereals and cereal-based feedstuffs in the recent 5 years, outline the rules and regulations regarding zearalenone in the major countries, and discuss the recent developments of biological methods for controlling zearalenone in cereals and cereal-based feedstuffs. In addition, this article also reviews the application and the development trend of biological strategies for removal zearalenone in cereals and cereal-based feedstuffs.

The precise extraction of winter wheat planting structure holds significant importance for food security risk assessment, agricultural resource management, and governmental decision-making. This study proposed a method for extracting the winter wheat planting structure by taking into account the growth phenology of winter wheat. Utilizing the fitting effect index, the optimal Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filtering parameter combination was determined automatically to achieve automated filtering and reconstruction of NDVI time series data. The phenological phases of winter wheat growth was identified automatically using a threshold method, and subsequently, a model for extracting the winter wheat planting structure was constructed based on three key phenological stages, including seeding, heading, and harvesting, with the combination of hierarchical classification principles. A priori sample library was constructed using historical data on winter wheat distribution to verify the accuracy of the extracted results. The validation of fitting effect on different surfaces demonstrated that the optimal filtering parameters for S-G filtering could be obtained automatically by using the fitting effect index. The extracted winter wheat phenological phases showed good consistency with ground-based observational results and MOD12Q2 phenological products. Validation against statistical yearbook data and the proposed priori knowledge base exhibited high statistical accuracy and spatial precision, with an extracting accuracy of 94.92%, a spatial positioning accuracy of 93.26%, and a kappa coefficient of 0.9228. The results indicated that the proposed method for winter wheat planting structure extracting can identify winter wheat areas rapidly and significantly. Furthermore, this method does not require training samples or manual experience, and exhibits strong transferability.

Increasing evidence indicated that neuroinflammation was involved in progression of Parkinson's disease (PD). Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) played important roles in regulating inflammatory processes in multiple kinds of human diseases such as cancer diabetes, cardiomyopathy, and neurodegenerative disorders. The mechanisms by which lncRNAs regulated PD related inflammation and dopaminergic neuronal loss have not yet been fully elucidated. In current study, we intended to explore the function and potential mechanism of lncRNA KCNQ1 opposite strand/antisense transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1) in regulating inflammasome activation in PD. Functional assays confirmed that knockdown of KCNQ1OT1 suppress microglial NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation and attenuated dopaminergic neuronal loss in PD model mice. As KCNQ1OT1 located in both cytoplasm and nucleus of microglia, we demonstrated that KCNQ1OT1 promoted microglial NLRP3 inflammasome activation by competitive binding with miR-186 in cytoplasm and inhibited pri-miR-186 mediated NLRP3 silencing through recruitment of DiGeorge syndrome critical region gene 8 (DGCR8) in nucleus, respectively. Our study found a novel lncRNA-pri-miRNA/mature miRNA-mRNA regulatory network in microglia mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation and dopaminergic neuronal loss, provided further insights for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Epilepsy (EP) is one of the most common neurological diseases in the world. Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge. (AA), as a typical heat-cleaning medicine, has been proven to possess the antiepileptic effect in clinical and experimental studies. Anemarrhena asphodeloides steroidal saponins (AAS) are main components. However, the therapeutic effects and underlying mechanisms of AAS against EP are not been fully elucidated. In this study, 63 steroidal saponins were discovered in AAS by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS analysis. Pharmacological and behavioral analysis demonstrated that AAS could significantly lower the Racine classification and reduce the frequency of generalized spike rhythm the rate of tetanic seizures in kainic acid-induced epileptic rats. Hematoxylin and eosin and Nissl staining-indicated AAS could significantly improve hippocampal injury and neuron loss in epileptic rats. TMT proteomic analysis discovered 26 different expressed proteins (DEPs), which were identified as the rescue proteins. After bioinformatic analysis, Heat Shock Protein 90 Alpha Family Class B Member 1 (Hsp90ab1) and Tyrosine 3-Monooxygenase (Ywhab) were screened as key DEPs and verified by western blotting. AAS could significantly inhibited the up-regulation of Hsp90ab1 and Ywhab in EP rats; these two proteins might be the key targets of AAS in treating EP.

Noncovalent interactions involving aromatic rings, such as π-stacking and π-ion interactions, play an essential role in molecular recognition, assembly, catalysis, and electronics. However, the inherently weak and complex nature of these interactions has made it challenging to study them experimentally, especially with regard to elucidating their properties in solution. Herein, the noncovalent interactions between π and π-hole, π and cation, and π-hole and anion in molecular complexes in nonpolar solution are investigated in situ through single-molecule electrical measurements in combination with theoretical calculations. Specifically, phenyl and pentafluorobenzyl groups serve as π and π-hole sites, respectively, while Li+ and Cl- are employed as the cation and anion. Our findings reveal that, in comparison with homogeneous π···π interactions, heterogeneous π···π-hole and π···cation interactions exhibit greater binding energies, resulting in a longer binding lifetime of the molecular junctions. Meanwhile, π···Li+ and π-hole···Cl- interactions present significantly distinct binding characteristics, with the former being stronger but more flexible than the latter. Furthermore, by changing the molecular components, similar conductivity can be achieved in both molecular dimers or sandwich complexes. These results provide new insights into π- and π-hole-involved noncovalent interactions, offering novel strategies for precise manipulation of molecular assembly, recognition, and molecular device.

Dendrobium nobile is a species of the genus Dendrobium that can be used as both a medicinal herb and healthy food. The sesquiterpenes in D. nobile have attracted extensive attention in recent years. In this study, Amide × RP offline two-dimensional chromatography separation tandem high-resolution mass spectrometry combined with GNPS (Global Natural Product Social Molecular Networking) was developed for the characterization of sesquiterpenes in D. nobile. After first-dimensional amide separation, the 70% ethanol extract of D. nobile was divided into 40 fractions, which were analyzed by second-dimensional reverse-phase system separation and LTQ-Orbitrap detection. The raw data was imported into the GNPS, resulting in the efficient clustering of similar substances. Finally, 594 sesquiterpene compounds were characterized, and 25 compounds were isolated based on molecular network analysis, including six new compounds. In vitro bioassays, the isolated compounds decreased NO production in the LPS-induced microglial BV-2 cell model and the content of MDA in PC12 cells, demonstrating neuroprotective activity. These findings unraveled the underlying material and provided valuable insights into the quality control of D. nobile.

Acne scarring is a common sequela of acne vulgaris, which seriously affects facial esthetics. The treatment options for acne scars vary depending on the development stage, color, type, and location of scarring. The objective and precise assessment of acne scars is a prerequisite for treatment, and it is also an important means of monitoring the treatment effect. The traditional methods to evaluate the types and severity grade of acne scars are primarily based on subjective assessment by physicians, which lacks objectivity and accuracy. Novel noninvasive skin imaging techniques, such as skin surface imaging analysis systems, dermoscopy, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and multiphoton tomography (MPT), provide new tools for the rapid and objective assessment of acne scars. This article reviews the progress of skin imaging techniques in the diagnosis, classification, and efficacy evaluation of acne scars.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs), heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs), acrylamide (AA), 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are toxic substances that are produced in certain foods during thermal processing by using common high-temperature unit operations such as frying, baking, roasting, grill cooking, extrusion, among others. Understanding the formation pathways of these potential risk factors, which can cause cancer or contribute to the development of many chronic diseases in humans, is crucial for reducing their occurrence in thermally processed foods. During thermal processing, food rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids undergoes a crucial Maillard reaction, leading to the production of highly active carbonyl compounds. These compounds then react with other substances to form harmful substances, which ultimately affect negatively the health of the human body. Although these toxic compounds differ in various forms of formation, they all partake in the common Maillard pathway. This review primarily summarizes the occurrence, formation pathways, and reduction measures of common toxic compounds during the thermal processing of food, based on independent studies for each specific contaminant in its corresponding food matrix. Finally, it provides several approaches for the simultaneous reduction of multiple toxic compounds.

Cyanobacteriota, the sole prokaryotes capable of oxygenic photosynthesis (OxyP), occupy a unique and pivotal role in Earth's history. While the notion that OxyP may have originated from Cyanobacteriota is widely accepted, its early evolution remains elusive. Here, by using both metagenomics and metatranscriptomics, we explore 36 metagenome-assembled genomes from hot spring ecosystems, belonging to two deep-branching cyanobacterial orders: Thermostichales and Gloeomargaritales. Functional investigation reveals that Thermostichales encode the crucial thylakoid membrane biogenesis protein, vesicle-inducing protein in plastids 1 (Vipp1). Based on the phylogenetic results, we infer that the evolution of the thylakoid membrane predates the divergence of Thermostichales from other cyanobacterial groups and that Thermostichales may be the most ancient lineage known to date to have inherited this feature from their common ancestor. Apart from OxyP, both lineages are potentially capable of sulfide-driven AnoxyP by linking sulfide oxidation to the photosynthetic electron transport chain. Unexpectedly, this AnoxyP capacity appears to be an acquired feature, as the key gene sqr was horizontally transferred from later-evolved cyanobacterial lineages. The presence of two D1 protein variants in Thermostichales suggests the functional flexibility of photosystems, ensuring their survival in fluctuating redox environments. Furthermore, all MAGs feature streamlined phycobilisomes with a preference for capturing longer-wavelength light, implying a unique evolutionary trajectory. Collectively, these results reveal the photosynthetic flexibility in these early-diverging cyanobacterial lineages, shedding new light on the early evolution of Cyanobacteriota and their photosynthetic processes.

Drought, especially terminal drought, severely limits wheat growth and yield. Understanding the complex mechanisms behind the drought response in wheat is essential for developing drought-resistant varieties. This study aimed to dissect the genetic architecture and high-yielding wheat ideotypes under terminal drought. An automated high-throughput phenotyping platform was used to examine 28 392 image-based digital traits (i-traits) under different drought conditions during the flowering stage of a natural wheat population. Of the i-traits examined, 17 073 were identified as drought-related. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified 5320 drought-related significant single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and 27 SNP clusters. A notable hotspot region controlling wheat drought tolerance was discovered, in which TaPP2C6 was shown to be an important negative regulator of the drought response. The tapp2c6 knockout lines exhibited enhanced drought resistance without a yield penalty. A haplotype analysis revealed a favored allele of TaPP2C6 that was significantly correlated with drought resistance, affirming its potential value in wheat breeding programs. We developed an advanced prediction model for wheat yield and drought resistance using 24 i-traits analyzed by machine learning. In summary, this study provides comprehensive insights into the high-yielding ideotype and an approach for the rapid breeding of drought-resistant wheat.

BACKGROUND: The utilization of Tuina as a therapeutic intervention for the management of chronic pain has experienced a gradually increase in its popularity, and the purpose of this bibliometric analysis is to offer a comprehensive understanding of the current state and frontier trends, as well as to provide recommendations for future research directions. METHODS: Publications on Tuina for chronic pain published between 2004 and 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Microsoft Excel, CiteSpace, VOSViewer, and the R package "bibliometrix" were used to quantitatively analyse the annual publication volume, countries/regions, journals, institutions, cited references, authors, and keywords. RESULTS: A total of 287 publications were retrieved. The number of annual publications on the use of Tuina for treating chronic pain has gradually increased. Most publications were published in China and the United States. Notably, the most productive institution and author were identified as Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Min Fang, respectively. Medicine ranked first as the most influential affiliate and most productive journal. These publications came from 1650 authors, among whom Edzard Ernst had the most co-citations. Keyword analysis revealed that the new research frontier was low back pain. CONCLUSION: The utilization of Tuina for the treatment of chronic pain has been gaining increasing recognition. Acupuncture, randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews, etc. were the main research subjects. Furthermore, low back pain is the new research frontier. This study provides an in-depth perspective on Tuina for chronic pain, which provides valuable reference material for clinicians with insights of therapeutic strategy, educators with valuable topics, and researchers with new research directions.

BACKGROUND: Although the electrocardiographic and electrophysiological properties of ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) from the vicinity of the lateral tricuspid annulus (TA) have been reported in previous studies, their precise site of origin have not been addressed. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to describe the precise origin of lateral TA-VA and the relevant anatomy. METHODS: Consecutive patients with idiopathic lateral TA-VAs were reviewed and analyzed. Three-dimensional mapping system combined with intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) was used for anatomic reconstruction, mapping, and ablation. RESULTS: During the study period, 63 patients with lateral TA-VAs were included. Under ICE view, a prominent enfoldment structure was observed under the valve along the lateral TA. The muscular bundle was documented in all patients (100%) within the subvalvular enfoldment with an average number and diameter of 4 ± 2 and 4.10 ± 0.73 mm, respectively. Initial ablation was attempted via the anterograde approach in 15 patients but succeeded in none. To reach the ventricular side of the TA, the catheter needed to enter the ventricular chamber and retroflexed toward the atrial side with a reverse curve. The earliest activation site was found at the valvular end of muscular bundles in 51 of the 63 patients (80.9%) with a local activation time of -26.78 ± 4.63 ms. The VAs were eliminated after an average of 4 ± 2 seconds of ablation. CONCLUSION: The ventricular adjacent to the lateral TA exhibits a subvalvular enfoldment-like structure, which is rich in muscular bundles and serves as the origin of TA-VAs in most patients. To reach the origins, a reverse technique is required.

Acidimicrobiia are widely distributed in nature and suggested to be autotrophic via the Calvin-Benson-Bassham (CBB) cycle. However, direct evidence of chemolithoautotrophy in Acidimicrobiia is lacking. Here, we report a chemolithoautotrophic enrichment from a saline lake, and the subsequent isolation and characterization of a chemolithoautotroph, Salinilacustristhrix flava EGI L10123T, which belongs to a new Acidimicrobiia family. Although strain EGI L10123T is autotrophic, neither its genome nor Acidimicrobiia metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from the enrichment culture encode genes necessary for the CBB cycle. Instead, genomic, transcriptomic, enzymatic, and stable-isotope probing data hinted at the activity of the reversed oxidative TCA (roTCA) coupled with the oxidation of sulfide as the electron donor. Phylogenetic analysis and ancestral character reconstructions of Acidimicrobiia suggested that the essential CBB gene rbcL was acquired through multiple horizontal gene transfer events from diverse microbial taxa. In contrast, genes responsible for sulfide- or hydrogen-dependent roTCA carbon fixation were already present in the last common ancestor of extant Acidimicrobiia. These findings imply the possibility of roTCA carbon fixation in Acidimicrobiia and the ecological importance of Acidimicrobiia. Further research in the future is necessary to confirm whether these characteristics are truly widespread across the clade.

INTRODUCTION: The anterior and lateral position of the anterolateral papillary muscle (ALPM) has found to be reached with better catheter stability and less mechanical bumping via the transseptal (TS) compared to the retrograde aortic (RA) approach. The aim of this study is to compare the TS and RA approaches on mapping and ablation of ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) arising from ALPMs. METHODS: Thirty-two patients with ALPM-VAs undergoing mapping and ablation via the TS approach were included and compared with 31 patients via the RA approach within the same period. Acute success was compared, as well as other outcomes including misinterpreted mapping results due to bumping, radiofrequency (RF) attempts, procedural time and success rate at 12-month follow-up. RESULTS: Acute success was achieved in more cases in the TS group (96.4% vs. 72.0%, p = .020). During activation mapping, bump-provoked premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) misinterpreted as clinical PVCs were more common in the RA group (30.0% vs. 58.3%, p = .036), leading to more RF attempts (3.5 ± 2.7 vs. 7.2 ± 6.8, p = .006). Suppression of VAs were finally achieved in the unsuccessful cases by changing to the alternative approach, but the procedural time was significantly less in the TS group (90.0 ± 33.0 vs. 113.7 ± 41.1 min, p = .027) with less need to change the approach, although follow-up success rates were similar (75.0% vs. 71.0%, p = .718). CONCLUSION: A TS rather than RA approach as the initial approach appears to facilitate mapping and ablation of ALPM-VAs, specifically by decreasing the possibility of misleading mapping results caused by bump-provoked PVC, and increase the acute success rate thereby.

AIM: To investigate symptom clusters and sentinel symptoms in breast cancer survivors based on self-reported outcomes, explore the impact of sentinel symptoms on patients' quality of life and psychological distress, provide a basis for implementing accurate symptom management. DESIGN: A cross-sectional survey. METHODS: The study was conducted from September 2021 to December 2022. We recruited 281 patients who were re-examined in an outpatient department of a tertiary hospital in Hebei Province. The European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality-of-Life Questionnaire - Core30 (QLQ-C30), the EORTC Quality-of-Life Questionnaire Breast Cancer - 23 (QLQ-BR23), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were used to conduct the survey. Symptom clusters were explored using principal component analysis, sentinel symptoms were explored using the Apriori algorithm. Correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between sentinel symptoms and quality of life, correlation with psychological distress. This paper adhered to the STROBE guidelines. RESULTS: Breast cancer survivors have a wide range of self-reported symptoms in the form of four symptom clusters: a fatigue symptom cluster, a gastrointestinal symptom cluster, a sickness symptom cluster and a surgical trauma-related symptom cluster. Three sentinel symptoms were explored: pain, alopecia and limited function of the upper limbs. Except for sexual function, all of the sentinel symptoms were negatively correlated with patients' quality of life and positively correlated with psychological distress (p < .05). CONCLUSIONS: Breast cancer survivors have a variety of symptoms in the form of four symptom clusters. Pain, alopecia and limited function of the upper limbs are the sentinel symptoms, which affect patients' quality of life and psychological distress.

A miniaturized and wideband four-port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna pair for Wi-Fi mobile terminals application is proposed. The proposed antenna pair consists of four multi-branch antenna elements arranged orthogonally, with an overall size of 40 × 40 × 3.5 mm3 and each antenna element size of 15.2 × 3.5 mm × 0.8 mm3. The performance of the proposed antenna shows the advantages of a wide frequency band, low mutual coupling, high efficiency, and a compact structure. The wideband characteristics of the antenna elements are achieved through multi-mode resonance. The suppression of coupling is accomplished by strategically positioning the four compact antenna elements to ensure their maximum radiation directions are orthogonal, thus eliminating the need for an additional decoupling structure. In this paper, the proposed antenna is optimized in terms of the parameters then simulated and measured. The simulated results illustrate that an impedance bandwidth of the antenna is about 15% (5.06~5.88 GHz) with S11 < -10 dB, excellent port isolation exceeds 20 dB between all ports, a high radiation efficiency ranges from 51.2% to 89.9%, the maximum gain is 4.5 dBi, and the ECCs are less than 0.04. The measured results show that the -10 dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna is about 13% (5.13~5.80 GHz), the isolation between the antenna elements is better than 21 dB, the radiation efficiency ranges from 51.8% to 92.3%, the maximum gain is 5.3 dBi, and the ECCs are less than 0.05. The proposed four-port MIMO antenna works on the 5G LTE band 46 and Wi-Fi 6E operating bands. As a mobile terminal antenna, the proposed design scheme demonstrates excellent performance and applicability, fulfilling the requirements for 5G mobile terminal applications.

Porosity in bulky solvents can be created by the methods of dispersing and dissolving porous hosts or by their chemical adornment. And the ensuing liquids with cavities offer requisite high gas uptakes. Intriguingly, metal-organic cages (MOCs) as discrete nanoporous hosts have been utilized recently as soluble entities to obtain a series of interesting type II porous liquids (PLs). Yet, factors affecting the fabrication of type II PLs have not been disclosed. Herein, three metallocages (NUT-101, ZrT-1-NH2, and ZrT-1) with the same zirconocene nodes but different organic ligands are chosen as porous hosts and a polyethylene-glycol (PEG) linked bis-imidazolium based IL, IL(NTf2), is used as a bulky solvent. It is revealed for the first time that the generation of type II PL depends upon the flexibility of MOCs and the interaction between MOCs and solvent molecules. The maximum solubility is observed with NUT-101 (5%) in IL(NTf2) while ZrT-1-NH2 and ZrT-1 remain least soluble (0.5% and 0.2%). As a result, PL-NUT-101-5% with most intrinsic cavities shows higher CO2 uptake (0.576 mmol g-1) than PL-ZrT-1-NH2-0.5% and PL-ZrT-1-0.2% as well as those reported type II PLs.
