RESUMO

Glycosylation and phosphorylation rank as paramount post-translational modifications, and their analysis heavily relies on enrichment techniques. In this work, a facile approach was developed for the one-step simultaneous enrichment and stepwise elution of glycoproteins and phosphoproteins. The core of this approach was the application of the novel titanium (IV) ion immobilized poly(glycidyl methacrylate) microparticles functionalized with dendrimer polyethylenimine and phytic acid. The microparticles possessed dual enrichment capabilities due to their abundant titanium ions and hydroxyl groups on the surface. They demonstrate rapid adsorption equilibrium (within 30 min) and exceptional adsorption capacity for ß-casein (1107.7 mg/g) and horseradish peroxidase (438.6 mg/g), surpassing that of bovine serum albumin (91.7 mg/g). Furthermore, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was conducted to validate the enrichment capability. Experimental results across various biological samples, including standard protein mixtures, non-fat milk, and human serum, demonstrated the remarkable ability of these microparticles to enrich low-abundance glycoproteins and phosphoproteins from biological samples.

RESUMO

Stabilized and metallic light elements hydrides have provided a potential route to achieve the goal of room-temperature superconductors at moderate or ambient pressures. Here, we have performed systematic DFT theoretical calculations to examine the effects of different light elements C and N atoms doped in cubic K4B8H32hydrides on the superconductivity at low pressures. As a result of various atoms substituting, we have found that metallic K4B8-xMxH32(M = C, N) hydrides are dynamically stable at 50 GPa, band structures and density of states indicate that sizeableTccorrelates with a high B-H density of states at the Fermi level. With the increasing of B atoms in K4B8-xMxH32hydrides, the density of states values at Fermi level have been improved due to the delocalized electrons in B-H bonds, which result in strong electron-phonon coupling (EPC) interaction and increase theTcfrom 19.04 to 77.07 K for KC2H8and KB2H8at 50 GPa. The NH4unit in stable K4B7NH32hydrides has weakened the EPC and led to low Tc value of 21.47 K. Our results suggest the light elements hydrides KB2H8and K4B7CH32could estimate highTcvalues at 50 GPa, and the boron hydrides would be potential candidates to design or modulate hydrides superconductors with highTcat moderate or ambient pressures.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the value of SOX1 and PAX1 gene methylation detection in the secondary triage of high-grade cervical lesions. Methods Exfoliated cervical cells were collected from 122 patients tested positive for human papilloma virus (HPV) and subjected to thin-prep cytologic test (TCT) and SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation tests. Results The HPV test combined with TCT showed the sensitivity of 95.24% and the specificity of 23.75% for detecting cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 2 and above (CIN2+).After the addition of the SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation detection in secondary triage, the sensitivity for detecting CIN2+ was 83.33%,which had no statistically significant difference from the sensitivity of TCT combined with HPV test (P=0.078).However,the specificity reached 77.50%,which was significantly higher than that of HPV test combined with TCT (P<0.001).The SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation level in the CIN2+ group was higher than those in the normal cervical tissue and the CIN1 group(P<0.001).The cut-off values of SOX1 and PAX1 gene methylation for CIN2+ detection were -11.81 and -11.98,respectively.Conclusion Adding the detection of SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation in secondary triage significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of CIN2+ detection.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: With the development of immunotherapy research, the role of immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in the treatment of cervical cancer has been emphasized, but many patients still can't receive long-term benefits from ICB. Poly ADP ribose polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) has been proved to exert significant antitumor effects in multiple solid tumors. Whether cervical cancer patients obtain better benefits from the treatment regimen of PARPi combined with ICB remains unclear. METHODS: The alteration of PD-L1 expression induced by niraparib in cervical cancer cells and its underlying mechanism were assessed by western blot and immunofluorescence and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).The regulation of PTEN by KDM5A was confirmed using Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay and RNA interference. Analyzing the relationship between PD-L1 and immune effector molecules through searching online databases. Therapeutic efficacy of niraparib, PD-L1 blockade or combination was assessed in syngeneic tumor model. The changes of immune cells and cytokines in vivo was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and qRT-PCR. RESULTS: We found that niraparib upregulated PD-L1 expression and potentiated the antitumor effects of PD-L1 blockade in a murine cervical cancer model. Niraparib inhibited the Pten expression by increasing the abundance of KDM5A, which expanded PD-L1 abundance through activating the PI3K-AKT-S6K1 pathway. PD-L1 was positively correlated with immune effector molecules including TNF-α, IFN-γ, granzyme A and granzyme B based on biological information analysis. Niraparib increased the infiltration of CD8+ T cells and the level of IFN-γ, granzyme B in vivo. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrates the regulation of niraparib on local immune microenvironment of cervical cancer, and provides theoretical basis for supporting the combination of PARPi and PD-L1 blockade as a potential treatment for cervical cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Few studies have focused on the outcomes of Wilson's disease (WD) diagnosed before age of 5 years. This study aimed to summarize the clinical features of early diagnosed WD and analyse treatment outcomes and the risk factors associated with treatment failure. METHODS: A total of 139 children confirmed with WD before 5 years were enrolled in this study. Only patients with follow-up over 1 year were analysed with Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. The composite outcomes included death, progression to liver failure or acute hepatitis, development of renal or neurological symptoms and persistent elevation of alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The treatment failure was defined as occurrence of at least one of above outcomes. RESULTS: Among 139 WD patients at diagnosis, two (1.4%) WD patients presented with symptomatic liver disease, whereas 137 (98.6%) were phenotypically asymptomatic, including 135 with elevated ALT and 2 with normal liver function. Median serum ceruloplasmin (Cp) was 3.1 mg/dL, and urinary copper excretion was 87.4 µg/24-h. There were 71 variants identified in the the copper-transporting ATPase beta gene, and 29 were loss of function (LOF). 51 patients with LOF variant were younger at diagnosis and had lower Cp than 88 patients without LOF. Among 93 patients with over 1 year of follow-up, 19 (20.4%) received zinc monotherapy, and 74 (79.6%) received a zinc/D-penicillamine combination therapy. 14 (15.1%) patients underwent treatment failure, and its occurrence was associated with poor compliance (p < .01). CONCLUSIONS: Cp is a reliable biomarker for early diagnosis, and zinc monotherapy is an effective treatment for WD during early childhood. Good treatment compliance is critical to achieve a favourable outcome.

RESUMO

CircRNAs are a class of covalently closed non-coding RNA formed by linking the 5' terminus and the 3' terminus after reverse splicing. CircRNAs are widely found in eukaryotes, and they are highly conserved, with spatio-temporal expression specificity and stability. CircRNAs can act as miRNA sponges to regulate the expression of downstream target genes, regulating the transcription of parental genes and some can even be translated into peptides or proteins. Research on circRNAs in plants is still in its infancy compared to that in animals. With the deepening of research, the results of a variety of plant circRNAs suggest that they play an important role in growth and development, and tolerance towards abiotic stresses such as salt, drought, low temperature, high temperature and other adverse environments. In this review paper, we elaborated the molecular characteristics, mechanism of action, function and bioinformatics databases of plant circRNAs, combined with the progress of circRNA research in animals, discussed the potential mechanism of action of plant circRNAs, and proposed the unsolved problems and prospects for future application of plant circRNAs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) are at high risk for falls, which is attributed to their impaired balance control. Identifying factors associated with balance control facilitates the development of precise KOA rehabilitation programs. This study was to investigate the correlations of balance control with proprioception, plantar tactile sensation (PTS), pain, joint range of motion (ROM), and strength among older adults with and without KOA, as well as the magnitudes and sequence of correlation of these factors to balance control. METHODS: A total of 240 older adults with (n = 124, female: 84, age: 68.8 ± 4.0 years) and without (n = 116, female: 64, age: 67.9 ± 3.5 years) KOA were recruited and assigned to the KOA and control groups. Their proprioception, PTS, pain, ROM, and strength were measured. Pearson or Spearman correlations were used to test whether they were significantly related to their Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and factor analysis and multivariate linear regression were used to determine the degrees of correlation between each factor and the BBS. RESULTS: Compared to the control group, the KOA group had lower BBS score, larger proprioception and PTS thresholds, smaller ROM, and less strength (p: 0.008, < 0.001-0.016, < 0.001-0.005, < 0.001-0.014, and < 0.001-0.002, respectively). In the KOA group, the BBS was weakly to moderately correlated with proprioception, PTS, pain, ROM, and strength (r: 0.332-0.501, 0.197-0.291, 0.340, 0.212-0.508, and 0.236-0.336, respectively). While in the control group, the BBS was correlated with proprioception and strength (r: 0.207-0.379, and 0.212-0.410). In the KOA group, BBS = 54.41+ (0.668*strength) - (0.579*PTS) - (1.141*proprioception) + (1.054* ROM) - (0.339*pain). While in the control group, BBS = 53.85+ (0.441*strength) - (0.677*proprioception). CONCLUSION: Worse proprioception and PTS, smaller ROM, and less strength were detected among older adults with KOA, and their proprioception, PTS, pain, ROM, and strength were all related to balance control. Proprioception had the strongest correlations, followed by ROM, strength, pain, and PTS. Precise KOA rehabilitation programs may be proposed following the sequence of improving the five factors.

RESUMO

Background: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of a SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine (Omicron BA.5) LVRNA012 given as the booster in immunized but SARS-CoV-2 infection-free adults in China. Methods: This is a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial enrolling healthy adult participants (≥18 years) who had completed two or three doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines at least 6 months before, in Bengbu, Anhui province, China. Eligible participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive a booster intramuscular vaccination with an LVRNA012 vaccine (100ug) or placebo. The primary endpoint was the protective efficacy of a booster dose of the LVRNA012 vaccine or placebo against symptomatic COVID-19 of any severity 14 days after vaccination. Laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infections were identified from 14 days to 180 days after intervention, with active surveillance for symptomatic illness 8 times per month between 7 to 90 days and at least once per month between 90 to 180 days after intervention. Results: 2615 participants were recruited and randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either the vaccine group (1308) or the placebo group (1307). A total of 141 individuals (46 in the LVRNA012 group and 95 in the placebo group) developed symptomatic COVID-19 infection 14 days after the booster immunization, showing a vaccine efficacy of 51.9% (95% CI, 31.3% to 66.4%). Most infections were detected 90 days after intervention during a period when XBB was prevalent in the community. Adverse reactions were reported by 64% of participants after the LVRNA012 vaccination, but most of them were mild or moderate. The booster vaccination with the LVRNA012 mRNA vaccine could significantly enhance neutralizing antibody titers against the Omicron variant XBB.1.5 (GMT 132.3 [99.8, 175.4]) than did those in the placebo group (GMT 12.5 [8.4, 18.7]) at day 14 for the previously immunized individuals. Conclusion: The LVRNA012 mRNA vaccine is immunogenic, and shows robust efficacy in preventing COVID-19 during the omicron-predominate period. Clinical trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT05745545.

RESUMO

Ovarian mucinous tumors with sarcomatous mural nodules are rare. Sarcomatous nodules have a bad prognosis. Its diagnosis and treatment are controversial. It is still controversial whether malignant mural nodules represent a dedifferentiated form of mucinous tumors or collisional tumors. This is a case report of a 32-year-old female diagnosed with ovarian mucinous tumor recurred as a mucinous carcinoma combined with sarcomatoid and undifferentiated sarcoma mural nodules after surgery and chemotherapy. The primary lesion did not have a sarcomatous component after comprehensive sampling and repeated review, while the recurrent lesion had a predominantly sarcomatous component. The patient received a second operation and postoperative chemotherapy plus Anlotinib with no progression at 16 months of follow-up. Primary mucinous carcinoma and sarcomatous mural nodules revealed the same K-RAS mutation(c.35G>T, pG12V), TP53 mutation (c.817C>T, p.R273C), MLL2 mutation(c.13450C>T, p.R4484) and NF1 mutation(c.7876A>G, p.S2626G). We present a comprehensive analysis on morphologic characteristics, molecular detection results, clinical management, and prognosis of ovarian mucinous tumors with mural nodules of sarcomatoid and undifferentiated sarcoma. Mutation sharing between primary mucinous carcinoma and recurrent sarcomatous nodules supports monoclonal origin of primary and recurrent tumors, suggesting a tendency for sarcomatous differentiation during the progression of epithelial tumors. Malignant mural nodules represent dedifferentiation in mucinous ovarian tumors rather than collision of two different tumor types. Therefore, it is imperative to conduct comprehensive sampling, rigorous clinical examination, and postoperative follow-up in order to thoroughly evaluate all mural nodules of ovarian mucinous tumors due to their potential for malignancy and sarcomatous differentiation.

RESUMO

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents a substantial global health challenge, with its impact on mortality and morbidity rates surpassing that of cancer. The present study was designed to explore the cardioprotective properties of anthocyanin (ACN), a compound derived from black barley, against oxidative stress-induced damage in myocardial cells and to uncover the molecular mechanisms at play. Utilizing both in vitro and in vivo experimental models, our findings indicate that ACN notably reduced cell damage caused by oxidative stress and effectively prevented apoptosis. High-throughput RNA sequencing analysis has shed light on the mechanism by which ACN achieves its antioxidative stress effects, implicating the PTEN-Akt signaling pathway. ACN was found to modulate PTEN expression levels, which in turn influences the Akt pathway, leading to a reduction in apoptotic processes. This novel insight lays the groundwork for the potential clinical utilization of ACN in the management of CVD. While this study has shed light on some of the functions of ACN, it is important to recognize that natural compounds often interact with multiple molecular targets and engage in intricate signaling cascades. Future research endeavors will concentrate on further elucidating the regulatory mechanisms by which ACN influences PTEN expression, with the goal of enhancing our comprehension and expanding the therapeutic potential of ACN in the treatment of cardiovascular conditions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: All known randomized trials of stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) versus whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) for brain metastases (BMs) comprise mixed histologies. The phase III HYBRID trial (NCT02882984) attempted to evaluate the non-inferiority of SRT vs. WBRT specifically for EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (EGFRm NSCLC) BMs. METHODS: Inclusion criteria were ≤ 5 BMs (any size) from treatment-naïve EGFRm NSCLC. All patients started a first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor on the first day of WBRT (37.5 Gy/15 fractions) or SRT (25-40 Gy/5 fractions per tumor volume). The primary endpoint was 18-month intracranial progression-free survival (iPFS; intention-to-treat). RESULTS: The trial commenced in June 2015 and was closed in April 2021 after screening 208 patients but enrolling 85 (n = 41 WBRT, n = 44 SRT; median follow-up 31 and 36 months, respectively). Respectively, 9.5 % vs. 10.2 % of patients experienced intracranial progression at 18 months, and the median iPFS was 21.4 vs. 22.3 months (p > 0.05 for all). The SRT arm experienced higher overall survival and cognitive preservation (p < 0.05 for all). The most notable reason for low enrollment was patients not wishing to risk neurocognitive decline from WBRT. CONCLUSIONS: Although this phase III trial was underpowered, there was no evidence that SRT yielded outcome detriments compared to WBRT for EGFRm NSCLC BMs. Lessons from prematurely closed trials are valuable, as they often provide important experiential perspectives for investigators designing/executing future trials. In the current era, randomized trials involving WBRT without cognitive sparing measures may be at high risk of underaccrual; trial investigators are encouraged to carefully consider our experience when attempting to design such trials. However, trials of molecular-/biologically-stratified patients are highly recommended as the notion of "individualized medicine/oncology" continues to expand.

RESUMO

Ionic liquids (ILs) have shown promising potential in membrane protein extraction; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Herein, we employed GPU-accelerated molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to investigate the dynamic insertion process of ILs into cell membranes containing membrane proteins. Our findings reveal that ILs spontaneously insert into the membrane, and the presence of membrane proteins significantly decelerates the rate of IL insertion into the membrane. Specifically, the relationship between the insertion rate and inserting free energy exhibits non-monotonic changes, which can be attributed to interfacial effects. The protein-water interface acts as trap for free ions and ionic clusters, while free ions preferentially insert into the membrane from the protein-lipid interface, which limits the insertion rate due to its narrowness. Thus, the insertion rate is governed by a combination of the free energy and interfacial effects. These findings provide valuable insights into the interfacial effects of protein-lipid bilayers and have implications for various biochemical-related applications.

RESUMO

It remains a grand challenge to amplify the chiroptical activity of chiral metal nanoclusters (NCs) although it is desirable for fundamental research and practical application. Herein, we report a strategy of surface/interface solidification (SIS) for enhancing the chiroptical activity of gold NCs. Structural analysis of [Au19(2R,4R/2S,4S-BDPP)6Cl2]3+ (BDPP is 2,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)pentane) clusters reveals that one of the interfacial gold atoms is flexible between two sites and large space is present on the surface, thus hampering chirality transfer from surface chiral ligands to metal core and leading to low chiroptical activity. Following SIS by filling the flexible sites and replacing chlorides with thiolate ligands affords another pair of [Au20(2R,4R/2S,4S-BDPP)6(4-F-C6H4S)2]4+, which shows a more compact and organized structure and thus an almost 40-fold enhancement of chiroptical activity. This work not only provides an efficient approach for amplifying the chiroptical activity of metal nanoclusters but also highlights the significance of achiral components in shaping chiral nanostructures.

RESUMO

Billions of people share images from their daily lives on social media every day. However, their biometric information (e.g., fingerprints) could be easily stolen from these images. The threat of fingerprint leakage from social media has created a strong desire to anonymize shared images while maintaining image quality, since fingerprints act as a lifelong individual biometric password. To guard the fingerprint leakage, adversarial attack that involves adding imperceptible perturbations to fingerprint images have emerged as a feasible solution. However, existing works of this kind are either weak in black-box transferability or cause the images to have an unnatural appearance. Motivated by the visual perception hierarchy (i.e., high-level perception exploits model-shared semantics that transfer well across models while low-level perception extracts primitive stimuli that result in high visual sensitivity when a suspicious stimulus is provided), we propose FingerSafe, a hierarchical perceptual protective noise injection framework to address the above mentioned problems. For black-box transferability, we inject protective noises into the fingerprint orientation field to perturb the model-shared high-level semantics (i.e., fingerprint ridges). Considering visual naturalness, we suppress the low-level local contrast stimulus by regularizing the response of the Lateral Geniculate Nucleus. Our proposed FingerSafe is the first to provide feasible fingerprint protection in both digital (up to 94.12%) and realistic scenarios (Twitter and Facebook, up to 68.75%). Our code can be found at https://github.com/nlsde-safety-team/FingerSafe.

RESUMO

Effectiveness of heterologous booster regimes with ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine in a large, diverse population during the national-scale outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 omicron predominance in China has not been reported, yet. We conducted a large-scale cohort-control study in six provinces in China, and did a retrospective survey on the COVID-19 attack risk during this outbreak. Participant aged ≥18 years in five previous trials who were primed with 1 to 3 doses of ICV received heterologous booster with either intramuscular or orally inhaled ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine were included in the heterologous-trial cohort. We performed propensity score-matching at a ratio of 1:4 to match participants in the heterologous-trial cohort individually with the community individuals who received three-dose of ICV as a control (ICV-community cohort). From February 4 to April 10, 2023, 41504 (74.5%) of 55710 individuals completed the survey. The median time since the most recent vaccination to the onset of the symptoms of COVID-19 was 303.0 days (IQR 293.0-322.0). The attack rate of COVID-19 in the heterologous-trial cohort was 55.8%, while that in the ICV-community cohort was 64.6%, resulting in a relative effectiveness of 13.7% (95% CI 11.9 to 15.3). In addition, a higher relative effectiveness against COVID-19 associated outpatient visits, and admission to hospital was demonstrated, which was 25.1% (95% CI 18.9 to 30.9), and 48.9% (95% CI 27.0 to 64.2), respectively. The heterologous booster with ad5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine still offered some additional protection in preventing COVID-19 breakthrough infection versus homologous three-dose regimen with ICV, 10 months after vaccination.

RESUMO

Transition-metal-oxide@heteroatom doped porous carbon composites have attracted considerable research interest because of their large theoretical adsorption capacity, excellent electrical conductivity and well-developed pore structure. Herein, Mn3O4-loaded phosphorus-doped porous carbon composites (Mn3O4@PC-900) were designed and fabricated for the electrosorption of La3+ in aqueous solutions. Due to the synergistic effect between Mn3O4 and PC-900, and the active sites provided by Mn-O-Mn, C/PO, C-P-O and Mn-OH, Mn3O4@PC-900 exhibits high electrosorption performance. The electrosorption value of Mn3O4@PC-900 was 45.34% higher than that of PC-900, reaching 93.02 mg g-1. Moreover, the adsorption selectivity reached 87.93% and 89.27% in La3+/Ca2+ and La3+/Na+ coexistence system, respectively. After 15 adsorption-desorption cycles, its adsorption capacity and retention rate were 50.34 mg g-1 and 54.12%, respectively. The electrosorption process is that La3+ first accesses the pores of Mn3O4@PC-900 to generate an electric double layer (EDL), and then undergoes further Faradaic reaction with Mn3O4 and phosphorus-containing functional groups through intercalation, surface adsorption and complexation. This work is hoped to offer a new idea for exploring transition-metal-oxide @ heteroatom doped porous carbon composites for separation and recovery of rare earth elements (REEs) by capacitive deionization.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture therapy on postoperative rehabilitation training of patients with knee fractures. METHODS: Patients with knee fractures from July 2020 to July 2021 were randomly assigned to either the experimental group or a control group according to the double-blind principle. Both groups were given surgical treatment and postoperative conventional rehabilitation training. There were 40 cases in the control group, including 27 males and 13 females;the age ranged from 20 to 66 years old with an average of (36.46±6.29) years old, continuous passive motion (CPM) training was performed after operation. There were 40 patients in the experimental group, including 24 males and 16 females. The age ranged from 21 to 68 years old with an average of (37.62±7.08) years old, on the basis of the control group, electroacupuncture was given. After 4 weeks of intervention, the excellent rate of knee function score, visual analogue scale (VAS) before and after intervention, serum pain mediators, prostaglandin E (PGE), substance P (SP), bradykinin (BK), joint range of motion and quality of life were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: After 4 weeks of intervention, the Rasmussen score for knee function in the experimental group (24.15±1.36) scores was higher than that in the control group (21.25±2.20) scores (P<0.001). The VAS in the experimental group (2.04±0.51) scores was lower than that in the control group (2.78±0.60) after 4 weeks of intervention (P<0.05). Serum PGE (2.25±0.37) mg·L-1, SP (4.43±1.05) ng·ml-1, BK (2.67±0.68) ng·ml-1 in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group (3.91±0.44) mg·L-1, (6.12±1.37) ng·ml-1, (4.55±1.03) ng·ml-1 after 4 weeks of intervention(P<0.05);in the experimental group, the active knee flexion angle of the knee joint was (108.63±9.76)°, the active knee extension angle (-2.46±0.70)°, passive knee flexion angle (116.83±6.57)°, passive knee extension angle (1.44±0.38)° were better than control group (100.24±8.15)°, (-3.51±0.86)°, (111.04±8.22)°, (0.78±0.24)° (P<0.05);the experimental group's psychological score (73.12±5.08), physiological score (72.26±5.89), social function score (72.57±4.23), overall health score (75.12±5.16) were higher than that of the control group (68.49±4.13), (68.13±5.27), (69.04±3.42), and(70.88±3.97) respectvely(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Electroacupuncture combined with CPM training after knee fracture surgery can significantly improve knee function and range of motion, reduce pain levels, and also improve quality of life and reduce the incidence of adverse events.

RESUMO

Accurate prediction of cadmium (Cd) ecotoxicity to and accumulation in soil biota is important in soil health. However, very limited information on Cd ecotoxicity on naturally contaminated soils. Herein, we investigated soil Cd ecotoxicity using Folsomia candida, a standard single-species test animal, in 28 naturally Cd-contaminated soils, and the back-propagation neural network (BPNN) model was used to predict Cd ecotoxicity to and accumulation in F. candida. Soil total Cd and pH were the primary soil properties affecting Cd toxicity. However, soil pH was the main factor when the total Cd concentration was < 3 mg kg-1. Interestingly, correlation analysis and the K-spiked test confirmed nutrient potassium (K) was essential for Cd accumulation, highlighting the significance of studying K in Cd accumulation. The BPNN model showed greater prediction accuracy of collembolan survival rate (R2 = 0.797), reproduction inhibitory rate (R2 = 0.827), body Cd concentration (R2 = 0.961), and Cd bioaccumulation factor (R2 = 0.964) than multiple linear regression models. Then the developed BPNN model was used to predict Cd ecological risks in 57 soils in southern China. Compared to multiple linear regression models, the BPNN models can better identify high-risk regions. This study highlights the potential of BPNN as a novel and rapid tool for the evaluation and monitoring of Cd ecotoxicity in naturally contaminated soils.
