RESUMO

Objective Biochemical remission rates of endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery (EETS) and its associated predictive factors were evaluated in patients with somatotrophin pituitary adenomas. Methods The patients who underwent EETS in Jinling Hospital were identified between 2011 and 2020. The surgeons' experience, preoperative insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), basal growth hormone (GH) levels, nadir GH levels, and the tumor characteristics were analyzed for their relationships with endocrine outcomes. Total 98 patients were included for single factor analysis and regression analysis. They were divided into three groups according to the admission chronologic order. Results The overall remission rate of the patients was 57% (56/98) for all the patients over 10 years. In the single factor analysis, we found that the tumor size, cavernous invasion, and sellar invasion were valuable to predict the endocrine outcome after surgery. As for the suprasellar invasion, no significant difference was found between the noninvasive group and the invasive group. The preoperative IGF-1 level ( p = 0.166), basal GH level ( p = 0.001), and nadir GH level ( p = 0.004) were also different between the remission group and the nonremission group in the single factor analysis. The logistic regression analysis indicated that the preoperative nadir GH (odds ratio = 0.930, 95% confidence interval = 0.891-0.972, p = 0.001) was a significant predictor for the endocrine outcomes after surgery. Conclusion The surgeons' experience is an important factor that can affect the patients' endocrine outcomes after surgery. The macroadenomas with lateral invasion are more difficult to cure. Patients with higher preoperative nadir GH levels are less likely to achieve remission.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Increased oxidative stress (OS) activity following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) had significantly impacting patient prognosis. Identifying optimal genes associated with OS could enhance the understanding of OS after ICH. METHODS: We employed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to investigate the heterogeneity of OS across various cellular tiers following ICH, aiming to acquire biological insights into ICH. We utilized AUCell, Ucell, singscore, ssgsea, and AddModuleScore algorithms, along with correlation analysis, to identify hub genes influencing high OS post-ICH. Furthermore, we employed four machine learning algorithms, eXtreme Gradient Boosting, Boruta, Random Forest, and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator, to identify the optimal feature genes. To validate the accuracy of our analysis, we conducted validation in ICH animal experiments. RESULTS: After analyzing the scRNA-seq dataset using various algorithms, we found that OS activity exhibited heterogeneity across different cellular layers following ICH, with particularly heightened activity observed in monocytes. Further integration of bulk data and machine learning algorithms revealed that ANXA2 and COTL1 were closely associated with high OS after ICH. Our animal experiments demonstrated an increase in OS expression post-ICH. Additionally, the protein expression of ANXA2 and COTL1 was significantly elevated and co-localized with microglia. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis revealed a significant correlation between ANXA2 and OS, indicating strong consistency (r = 0.84, p < 0.05). Similar results were observed for COTL1 and OS (r = 0.69, p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Following ICH, ANXA2 and COTL1 might penetrate the brain via monocytes, localize within microglia, and enhance OS activity. This might help us better understand OS after ICH.

RESUMO

A common epitope (AGSFDHKKFFKACGLSGKST) of parvalbumin from 16 fish species was excavated using bioinformatics tools combined with the characterization of fish parvalbumin binding profile of anti-single epitope antibody in this study. A competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on the common epitope was established with a limit of detection of 10.15 ng/mL and a limit of quantification of 49.29 ng/mL. The developed ELISA exhibited a narrow range (71% to 107%) of related cross-reactivity of 15 fish parvalbumin. Besides, the recovery, the coefficient of variations for the intra-assay and the inter-assay were 84.3% to 108.2%, 7.4% to 13.9% and 8.5% to 15.6%. Our findings provide a novel idea for the development of a broad detection method for fish allergens and a practical tool for the detection of parvalbumin of economic fish species in food samples.

RESUMO

Crustacean shellfish are major allergens in East Asia. In the present study, a major allergic protein in crustaceans, tropomyosin, was detected accurately using multiple reaction monitoring mode-based mass spectrometry, with shared signature peptides identified through proteomic analysis. The peptides were deliberately screened through thermal stability and enzymatic digestion efficiency to improve the suitability and accuracy of the developed method. Finally, the proposed method demonstrated a linear range of 0.15 to 30 mgTM/kgfood (R2 > 0.99), with a limit of detection of 0.15 mgTM/kg food and a limit of quantification of 0.5mgTM/kgfood and successfully applied to commercially processed foods, such as potato chips, biscuits, surimi, and hot pot seasonings, which evidenced the applicability of proteomics-based methodology for food allergen analysis.

RESUMO

The ideal interface design between the metal and substrate is crucial in determining the overall performance of the alkyne semihydrogenation reaction. Single-atom alloys (SAAs) with isolated dispersed active centers are ideal media for the study of reaction effects. Herein, a charge-asymmetry "armor" SAA (named Pd1Fe SAA@PC), which consists of a Pd1Fe alloy core and a semiconducting P-doped C (PC) shell, is rationally designed as an ideal catalyst for the selective hydrogenation of alkynes with high efficiency. Multiple spectroscopic analyses and density functional theory calculations have demonstrated that Pd1Fe SAA@PC is dual-regulated by lattice tensile and Schottky effects, which govern the selectivity and activity of hydrogenation, respectively. (1) The PC shell layer applied an external traction force causing a 1.2% tensile strain inside the Pd1Fe alloy to increase the reaction selectivity. (2) P doping into the C-shell layer realized a transition from a p-type semiconductor to an n-type semiconductor, thereby forming a unique Schottky junction for advancing alkyne semihydrogenation activity. The dual regulation of lattice strain and the Schottky effect ensures the excellent performance of Pd1Fe SAA@PC in the semihydrogenation reaction of phenylethylene, achieving a conversion rate of 99.9% and a selectivity of 98.9% at 4 min. These well-defined interface modulation strategies offer a practical approach for the rational design and performance optimization of semihydrogenation catalysts.

RESUMO

Background: The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic had significantly altered the daily routines of people worldwide. This study aimed to compare how sleeptime and depression among Chinese residents had differed between periods during and outside the epidemic. Furthermore, it delved into the interactive effect of age in this relationship. Method: Utilizing data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) study in 2015 and the recently released data from 2020, which covered the pandemic period. Depression was assessed using Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CESD-10), considering a score of 10 or higher as indicative of depression. Participants were categorized based on age, specifically those aged 60 years and older. multivariate logistic regression and interaction analyses were employed to assess the interplay of age, supported by subgroup and sensitivity analyses to reinforce our findings. Results: The 2020 database comprised 19,331 participants, while the 2015 database had 10,507 participants. Our findings demonstrated a significant correlation between sleeptime and depression in both unadjusted models and models adjusted for all variables in both datasets (p<0.001). Upon stratifying by age and adjusting for relevant factors, we identified an interaction effect among age, sleeptime, and depression (p=0.004 for the interaction in the 2020 database, compared to 0.004 in 2015). The restricted cubic spline analysis in both datasets showcased a nonlinear relationship between sleeptime and depression. Conclusions: During both epidemic and non-epidemic periods in China, there existed a correlation between sleep duration and depression, which interacts with age.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To compare the efficacy of nadroparin and fondaparinux sodium for prevention of deep vein thromboembolism (DVT) in lower extremities after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). METHODS: A total of 592 patients were enrolled in the study. Clinical data of patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in our hospital from December 2021 to September 2022 were retrospectively collected, which mainly included patients' general information, surgery-related information, and DVT-related information. The patients were categorized into the nadroparin group(n = 278) and the fondaparinux sodium group(n = 314) according to the types of anticoagulants used. Anticoagulant therapy began 12-24 h after operation and continued until discharge. DVT prevalence between two groups was compared. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 25 (SPSS, Armonk, NY, USA) was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: The prevalence of DVT in the nadroparin group and the fondaparinux sodium group was 8.3% (23/278) and 15.0% (47/314), respectively(p = 0.012). Statistical analysis showed that nadroparin group showed a lower prevalence of thrombosis than fondaparinux group (OR = 1.952, P = 0.012). Subgroup analyses showed that nadroparin group had a lower prevalence of DVT than fondaparinux group in some special patients groups such as female patients (OR = 2.258, P = 0.007), patients who are 65-79 years old (OR = 2.796, P = 0.004), patients with hypertension (OR = 2.237, P = 0.042), patients who underwent TKA (OR = 2.091, P = 0.011), and patients who underwent combined spinal-epidural anesthesia (OR = 2.490, P = 0.003) (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Nadroparin may have an advantage over fondaparinux sodium in preventing DVT in lower extremities after THA and TKA.

RESUMO

NOx is an air pollutant that affects human health. A series of perovskite catalysts with different ratios of lanthanum, iron, and manganese and a three-dimensional ordered microporous structure was prepared, and the strongest catalytic performance was obtained with the LaFe0.1Mn0.9O3 catalyst. LaFe0.1Mn0.9O3 possesses the greatest number of oxygen vacancies and reached 77% NO oxidation conversion at 250 °C, with the highest NO oxidation conversion of 99% at 318 °C. This work provides a promising non-precious metal catalyst for NO oxidation and soot combustion.

RESUMO

Produced by both nature and human activities, sulfur dioxide (SO2) is an important species in the earth's atmosphere. SO2 has also been found in the atmospheres of other planets and satellites in the solar system. The photoabsorption cross sections and photodissociation of SO2 have been studied for several decades. In this paper, we reported the experimental results for photodissociation dynamics of SO2 via the G̃1B1 state. By analyzing the images from the time-sliced velocity map ion imaging method, the vibrational state population distributions and anisotropy parameters were obtained for the O(1D2) + SO(X3Σ-, a1Δ, b1Σ+) and O(1S0) + SO(X3Σ-) channels, and the branching ratios for the channels O(1D2) + SO(X3Σ-), O(1D2) + SO(a1Δ), and O(1D2) + SO(b1Σ+) were determined to be ∼0.3, ∼0.6, and ∼0.1, respectively. The SO products were dominant in electronically and rovibrationally excited states, which may have yet unrecognized roles in the upper planetary atmosphere.

RESUMO

The long-term monitoring stability of electronic current transformers is crucial for accurately obtaining the current signal of the power grid. However, it is difficult to accurately distinguish between the fluctuation of non-stationary random signals on the primary side of the power grid and the gradual error of the transformers themselves. A current transformer error prediction model, CNN-MHA-BiLSTM, based on the golden jackal optimization (GJO) algorithm, which is used to obtain the optimal parameter values, bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) network, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and multi-head attention (MHA), is proposed to address the difficulty of measuring error evaluation. This model can be used to determine the operation of transformers and can be widely applied to assist in determining the stability of transformer operation and early faults. First, CNN is used to mine the vertical detail features of error data at a certain moment, improving the speed of error prediction. Furthermore, a cascaded network with BiLSTM as the core is constructed to extract the horizontal historical features of the error data. The GJO algorithm is used to adjust the parameters of the BiLSTM model; optimize the hidden layer nodes, training frequency, and learning rate; and integrate MHA mechanism to promote the model to pay attention to the characteristic changes of the data in order to improve the accuracy of error prediction. Finally, this method is applied to the operation data of transformer in substations, and four time periods of data are selected to verify the model effectiveness of the current transformer dataset. The analysis results of single step and multi-step examples indicate that the proposed model has significant advantages in terms of accuracy and stability in error prediction.

RESUMO

H2S is being detected in the atmospheres of ever more interstellar bodies, and photolysis is an important mechanism by which it is processed. Here, we report H Rydberg atom time-of-flight measurements following the excitation of H2S molecules to selected rotational (JKaKc') levels of the 1B1 Rydberg state associated with the strong absorption feature at wavelengths of λ ∼ 129.1 nm. Analysis of the total kinetic energy release spectra derived from these data reveals that all levels predissociate to yield H atoms in conjunction with both SH(A) and SH(X) partners and that the primary SH(A)/SH(X) product branching ratio increases steeply with ⟨Jb2⟩, the square of the rotational angular momentum about the b-inertial axis in the excited state. These products arise via competing homogeneous (vibronic) and heterogeneous (Coriolis-induced) predissociation pathways that involve coupling to dissociative potential energy surfaces (PES(s)) of, respectively, 1A″ and 1A' symmetries. The present data also show H + SH(A) product formation when exciting the JKaKc' = 000 and 111 levels, for which ⟨Jb2⟩ = 0 and Coriolis coupling to the 1A' PES(s) is symmetry forbidden, implying the operation of another, hitherto unrecognized, route to forming H + SH(A) products following excitation of H2S at energies above ∼9 eV. These data can be expected to stimulate future ab initio molecular dynamic studies that test, refine, and define the currently inferred predissociation pathways available to photoexcited H2S molecules.

RESUMO

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is a valuable oilseed crop with numerous nutritional benefits containing a diverse range of bioactive compounds. However, sesame is also considered an allergenic food that triggers various mild to severe adverse reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis). Strict dietary avoidance of sesame components is the best option to protect the sensitized consumers. Sesame or sesame-derived foods are always consumed after certain food processing operations, which would cause a considerable impact on the structure of sesame proteins, changing their sensitization capacity and detectability. In the review, the molecular structure properties, and immunological characteristics of the sesame allergens were described. Meanwhile, the influence of food processing techniques on sesame proteins and the relevant detection techniques used for the sesame allergens quantification are also emphasized critically. Hopefully, this review could provide valuable insight into the development and management for the new "Big Eight" sesame allergen in food industry.

RESUMO

As a notorious phytopathogenic virus, the tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) severely reduced the quality of crops worldwide and caused critical constraints on agricultural production. The development of novel virucides is a persuasive strategy to address this predicament. Herein, a series of novel bisamide-decorated benzotriazole derivatives were elaborately prepared and screened. Biological tests implied that the optimized compound 7d possessed the most brilliant antiviral inactive profile (EC50 = 157.6 µg/mL) and apparently surpassed that of commercial ribavirin (EC50 = 442.1 µg/mL) 2.8-fold. The preliminary antiviral mechanism was elaborately investigated via transmission electron microscopy, microscale thermophoresis (MST) determination, RT-qPCR, and Western blot analysis. The results showed that compound 7d blocked the assembly of TMV by binding with coat protein (Kd = 0.7 µM) and suppressed TMV coat protein gene expression and biosynthesis process. Computational simulations indicated that 7d displayed strong H-bonds and pi interactions with TMV coat protein, affording a lower binding energy (ΔGbind = -17.8 kcal/mol) compared with Ribavirin (ΔGbind = -10.7 kcal/mol). Overall, current results present a valuable perception of bisamide decorated benzotriazole derivatives with appreciably virustatic competence and should be profoundly developed as virucidal candidates in agrochemical.

RESUMO

The relationship between online self-disclosure and self-concept clarity has been previously examined through cross-sectional studies. This study examined causal connections between online self-disclosure and self-concept clarity among Chinese middle school students using longitudinal data collected over 18 months. Participants were 535 seventh-grade students aged 12-14 years (Mage = 12.93, SD = 0.54, 43.18% girls), assessed four times, six months apart. In a random intercept cross-lagged panel model, self-concept clarity significantly predicted online self-disclosure. Latent growth mixture modeling identified two distinct growth trajectories for both online self-disclosure (Rapid change, 7%; Slow change, 93%) and self-concept clarity (Rapid change, 8%; No change, 92%). Multiple logistic regression analysis suggested that changes in self-concept clarity influenced the developmental trajectory profile of online self-disclosure. Although male and female students differed in online self-disclosure and self-concept clarity, gender differences in the developmental trajectory profiles of online self-disclosure and self-concept clarity were not significant. Supporting adolescents in developing a clear self-concept to mitigate risks associated with excessive online self-disclosure is important.

RESUMO

Developing high-performance electrocatalysts for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is crucial for producing green hydrogen, yet it remains challenging due to the sluggish kinetics in alkaline environments. Pt is located near the peak of HER volcano plot, owing to its exceptional performance in hydrogen adsorption and desorption, and Rh plays an important role in H2O dissociation. Lanthanides (Ln) are commonly used to modulate the electronic structure of materials and further influence the adsorption/desorption of reactants, intermediates, and products, and noble metal-Ln alloys are recognized as effective platforms where Ln elements regulate the catalytic properties of noble metals. Here Pt1.5Rh1.5Tm alloy is synthesized using the sodium vapor reduction method. This alloy demonstrates superior catalytic activity, being 4.4 and 6.6 times more effective than Pt/C and Rh/C, respectively. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the upshift of d-band center and the charge transfer induced by alloying promote adsorption and dissociation of H2O, making Pt1.5Rh1.5Tm alloy more favorable for the alkaline HER reaction, both kinetically and thermodynamically.

RESUMO

Chemical reactions are generally assumed to proceed from reactants to products along the minimum energy path (MEP). However, straying from the MEP-roaming-has been recognized as an unconventional reaction mechanism and found to occur in both the ground and first excited states. Its existence in highly excited states is however not yet established. We report a dissociation channel to produce electronically excited fragments, S(1D)+O2(a1Δg), from SO2 photodissociation in highly excited states. The results revealed two dissociation pathways: One proceeds through the MEP to produce vibrationally colder O2(a1Δg) and the other yields vibrationally hotter O2(a1Δg) by means of a roaming pathway involving an intramolecular O abstraction during reorientation motion. Such roaming dynamics may well be the rule rather than the exception for molecular photodissociation through highly excited states.

RESUMO

Refrigeration technology based on the caloric effect is one of the more environmentally friendly alternatives to gas compression refrigeration. The barocaloric effect utilizes pressure to induce phase transition and results in a large entropy change. In this work, a colossal barocaloric effect in the liquid-solid transition (L-S-T) of binary fatty acid methyl esters (BFAMEs) was discovered. At 295 K, an isothermal entropy change as high as 591 J kg-1 K-1 and a reversible entropy change of 356 J kg-1 K-1 at a hydrostatic pressure of 80 MPa were obtained by mixing methyl palmitate and methyl stearate with a specific ratio to synthesize a BFAME. The value of the isothermal entropy change of the BFAME is comparable to that of a commercial gas compression refrigerant, R134a. This work will provide a new L-S-T candidate material to replace commercial refrigerants for the potential application of caloric effect refrigeration technology.

RESUMO

Resistant crop cultivars can recruit beneficial rhizobacteria to resist disease. However, whether this recruitment is regulated by quantitative trait loci (QTL) is unclear. The role of QTL in recruiting specific bacteria against bacterial wilt (BW) is an important question of practical significance to disease management. Here, to identify QTL controlling BW resistance, Super-BSA was performed in F2 plants derived from resistant eggplant cultivar R06112 × susceptible cultivar S55193. The QTL was narrowed down through BC1F1-BC3F1 individuals by wilting symptoms and KASP markers. Rhizosphere bacterial composition of R06112, S55193, and resistant individuals EB158 (with the QTL) and susceptible individuals EB327 (without QTL) from BC2F1 generation were assessed by Illumina sequencing-based analysis, and the activation of plant immunity by the bacterial isolates was analyzed. Evidence showed that BW-resistant is controlled by one QTL located at the 270 kb region on chromosome 10, namely EBWR10, and nsLTPs as candidate genes confirmed by RNA-Seq. EBWR10 has a significant effect on rhizobacteria composition and significantly recruits Bacillus. pp. A SynCom of three isolated Bacillus. pp trains significantly reduced the disease incidence, changed activities of CAT, PPO, and PAL and concentration of NO, H2O2, and O2-, activated SA and JA signaling-dependent ISR, and displayed immune activation against Ralstonia solanacearum in eggplant. Our findings demonstrate for the first time that the QTL can recruit beneficial rhizobacteria, which jointly promote the suppression of BW. This method charts a path to develop the QTL in resistant cultivar-driven probiotics to ameliorate plant diseases.

RESUMO

Vonoprazan holds significant research promise for Helicobacter pylori eradication, with the goal of determining the most effective drug regimen. In this study, H. pylori patients (426) were enrolled and randomized into 3 groups: an EA14 group (20 mg of esomeprazole qid and 1000 mg of amoxicillin tid for 14 days), a VA14 group (20 mg of vonoprazan bid and 750 mg of amoxicillin qid for 14 days), and a VA10 group (20 mg of vonoprazan bid and 1000 mg of amoxicillin tid for 10 days). Key outcomes encompassed the H. pylori eradication rate, patient adverse effects, and compliance. In the EA14, VA14, and VA10 groups, H. pylori eradication rates were 89.4%, 90.1%, and 88.7% in intention-to-treat analysis, and 94.2%, 94.4%, and 94.6% in per-protocol analysis, respectively. Adverse events incidences were 14.8%, 12.7%, and 5.6%, while compliance rates were 88.7%, 90.9%, and 95.8%, respectively. Notably, the VA10 regimen demonstrated comparable H. pylori eradication rates, adverse effect incidences, and compliance levels to the EA14 and VA14 regimens.
