BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Frailty has become a public health challenge in China. To investigate the association of foods consumption and physical activity with prefrailty and frailty among older Chinese adults in urban communities. METHODS AND STUDY DESIGN: In a cross-sectional study from February to July 2023, 1183 older adults aged between 65y-88y were enrolled from urban communities in Chongqing and Shandong province, China. Frailty Index (FI) was applied to measure prefrailty and frailty. Partial proportional odds model was used to assess the association between foods consumption, physical activity and prefrailty/frailty. RESULTS: Higher Dietary Diversity Score (DDS), (OR=0.61, 95% CI=0.46-0.80; OR=0.47, 95% CI=0.28-0.79), Consuming animal-based foods ≥2 times/day (OR=0.62, 95% CI=0.47-0.82; OR=0.54, 95% CI=0.33-0.88), soy products ≥2 times/week (OR=0.69, 95% CI=0.53-0.89; OR=0.51, 95% CI=0.31-0.84), fresh vegetables ≥2 times/day (OR=0.42, 95% CI=0.31-0.57; OR=0.41, 95% CI=0.23-0.72), and nuts ≥2 times/week (OR=0.71, 95% CI=0.55-0.91; OR=0.52, 95% CI=0.32-0.85) was associated with a lower risk of prefrailty and frailty. In addition, higher frequency and longer duration of walking (OR=0.61, 95% CI=0.42-0.88; OR=0.63, 95% CI=0.48-0.81), exercise (OR=0.48, 95% CI=0.35-0.64; OR=0.44, 95% CI=0.32-0.61) per week were significantly associated with lower risk of prefrailty. Furthermore, higher frequency and longer duration of walking (OR=0.42, 95% CI=0.25-0.72; OR=0.46, 95% CI=0.29-0.74), and housework (OR=0.39, 95% CI=0.24-0.65; OR=0.57, 95% CI=0.34-0.96) per week, were significantly associated with lower frailty. CONCLUSIONS: Higher DDS and higher frequency of animal-based foods, soy products, fresh vegetables, and nuts consumption is significantly associated with lower risk of prefrailty and frailty. Additionally, walking and exercising are significantly associated with lower risk of prefrailty, while walking and doing housework is significantly associated with lower frailty.

Plant pollen tubes and root hairs typical polarized tip growth. It is well established that calcium ions (Ca2+) play essential roles in maintaining cell polarity and guiding cell growth orientation. Ca2+ signals are encoded by Ca2+ channels and transporters and are decoded by a variety of Ca2+-binding proteins often called Ca2+ sensors, in which calcineurin B-like protein (CBL) proteins function by interacting with and activating a group of kinases, activate CBL-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs). Some CBL-CIPK complexes, such as CBL2/3-CIPK12/19, act as crucial regulators of pollen tube growth. Whether these calcium decoding components regulate the growth of root hairs, another type of plant cell featuring Ca2+-regulated polarized growth, remains unknown. In this study, we identified CIPK13 and CIPK18 as genes specifically expressed in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) root hairs. The cipk13 cipk18 double mutants showed reduced root hair length and lower growth rates. The calcium oscillations at the root hair tip were attenuated in the cipk13 cipk18 mutants as compared to the wild-type plants. Through yeast two-hybrid screens, CBL2 and CBL3 were identified as interacting with CIPK13 and CIPK18. cbl2 cbl3 displayed a shortened root hair phenotype similar to cipk13 cipk18. This genetic analysis, together with biochemical assays showing activation of CIPK13/18 by CBL2/3, supported the conclusion that CBL2/3 and CIPK13/18 may work as Ca2+-decoding modules in controlling root hair growth. Thus, the findings that CIPK12/19 and CIPK13/18 function in pollen tube and root hair growth, respectively, illustrate a molecular mechanism in which the same CBLs recruit distinct CIPKs in regulating polarized tip growth in different types of plant cells.

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technology, as a powerful analytical tool, plays a crucial role in the preparation, performance evaluation, and biomedical applications of nanoparticles due to its real-time, label-free, and highly sensitive detection capabilities. In the nanoparticle preparation process, SPR technology can monitor synthesis reactions and surface modifications in real-time, optimizing preparation techniques and conditions. SPR enables precise measurement of interactions between nanoparticles and biomolecules, including binding affinities and kinetic parameters, thereby assessing nanoparticle performance. In biomedical applications, SPR technology is extensively used in the study of drug delivery systems, biomarker detection for disease diagnosis, and nanoparticle-biomolecule interactions. This paper reviews the latest advancements in SPR technology for nanoparticle preparation, performance evaluation, and biomedical applications, discussing its advantages and challenges in biomedical applications, and forecasting future development directions.

PURPOSE: This study is aimed at evaluating the efficacy of Mind-Regulating and Depression-Relieving Acupuncture in combination with radiofrequency thermocoagulation of DRG for PHN. METHODS: PHN patients who presented to the Pain Department of Affiliated Hospital of Jiaxing University from November 2021 to June 2023 were included. The participants were assigned into two groups using a random number table: Acupuncture + RFTC (Group H, n = 44) group and RFTC (Group C, n = 44) group. The pain numerical rating score (NRS), visual analogue scale scores (VAS), IL-6 , Gal-3, oral dose of tramadol and gabapentin capsules levels were recorded before and after 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 w of the treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, NRS scores in both groups were significantly lower than pretreatment scores at each time point. Compared with before treatment, the VAS scores at all time points after treatment was increased in both groups. Compared with before treatment, the doses of oral gabapentin capsules and tramadol were reduced in both groups after treatment. Compared with group C, the doses of oral gabapentin capsules and tramadol after the end of the treatment course were significantly reduced in group H. Compared with before treatment, the blood levels of Gal-3 and IL-6 were reduced at all points after treatment in both groups. Compared with group C, the blood Gal-3 and IL-6 levels were significantly reduced in group H. CONCLUSION: Compared with RFTC alone, acupuncture combined with RFTC of DRG has a better therapeutic effect for PHN.

Phytophthora root rot, caused by oomycete pathogens in the Phytophthora genus, poses a significant threat to soybean productivity. While resistance mechanisms against Phytophthora sojae have been extensively studied in soybean, the molecular basis underlying immune responses to Phytophthora sansomeana remains unclear. In this study, we investigated transcriptomic and epigenetic responses of two resistant (Colfax and NE2701) and two susceptible (Williams 82 and Senaki) soybean lines at four time points (2, 4, 8, and 16 h post inoculation [hpi]) after P. sansomeana inoculation. Comparative transcriptomic analyses revealed a greater number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) upon pathogen inoculation in resistant lines, particularly at 8 and 16 hpi. These DEGs were predominantly associated with defense response, ethylene, and reactive oxygen species-mediated defense pathways. Moreover, DE transposons were predominantly upregulated after inoculation, and more of them were enriched near genes in Colfax than other soybean lines. Notably, we identified a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) within the mapped region of the resistance gene that exhibited exclusive upregulation in the resistant lines after inoculation, potentially regulating two flanking LURP-one-related genes. Furthermore, DNA methylation analysis revealed increased CHH (where H = A, T, or C) methylation levels in lncRNAs after inoculation, with delayed responses in Colfax compared to Williams 82. Overall, our results provide comprehensive insights into soybean responses to P. sansomeana, highlighting potential roles of lncRNAs and epigenetic regulation in plant defense.

The interception of microplastics (MPs) by mangrove roots plays an indispensable role in reducing the environmental risks of MPs. However, there remains limited research on the fate of the intercepted MPs. Hereby, the uptake and subsequent translocation of 0.2 µm and 2 µm PS MPs with different coating charge by the typical salt-secreting mangrove plants (Aegiceras corniculatum) were investigated. Compared to amino-functionalized PS with positive charge (PS-NH2), the visualized results indicated that the efficient uptake of carboxy-functionalized PS with negative charge (PS-COOH) was more dependent on taproots. But for the lateral roots, it only allowed the entry of PS-NH2 instead of PS-COOH. The specific uptake pathways of PS-NH2 on the lateral roots could attribute to the release of H+ and organic acids by root hairs, as well as the relative higher Zeta potential. After entering the Aegiceras corniculatum roots, the translocation of PS MPs was restricted by their particle sizes. Furthermore, the release of PS MPs from Aegiceras corniculatum leaf surfaces through the salt glands and stomata was observed. And the decline in the photochemical efficiency of leaves under PS MPs exposure also indirectly proved the foliar emission of PS MPs. Our study improved the understanding of the environmental behaviors and risks of the retained MPs in mangroves.

Cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP) significantly impacts the quality of life and survival of patients with advanced cancer. Despite the established role of neurexins in synaptic structure and function, their involvement in sensory processing during injury has not been extensively studied. In this study using a rat model of CIBP, we observed increased neurexin 2 expression in spinal cord neurons. Knockdown of neurexin 2 in the spinal cord reversed CIBP-related behaviors, sensitization of spinal c-Fos neurons, and pain-related negative emotional behaviors. Additionally, increased acetylation of neurexin 2 mRNA was identified in the spinal dorsal horn of CIBP rats. Decreasing the expression of N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10) reduced neurexin 2 mRNA acetylation and neurexin 2 expression. In PC12 cells, we confirmed that neurexin 2 mRNA acetylation enhanced its stability, and neurexin 2 expression was regulated by NAT10. Finally, we discovered that the NAT10/ac4C-neurexin 2 axis modulated neuronal synaptogenesis. This study demonstrated that the NAT10/ac4C-mediated posttranscriptional modulation of neurexin 2 expression led to the remodeling of spinal synapses and the development of conscious hypersensitivity in CIBP rats. Therefore, targeting the epigenetic modification of neurexin 2 mRNA ac4C may offer a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of nociceptive hypersensitivity in CIBP.

The efficient removal of antibiotics and its combined pollutants is essential for aquatic environment and human health. In this study, a lignin-based organic flocculant named PRL-VAc-DMC was synthesized using pulp reject as the raw material, with vinyl acetate (VAc) and methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) as the grafting monomers. A series of modern characterization methods were used to confirm the successful preparation of PRL-VAc-DMC and elucidate its polymerization mechanism. It was found that the Ph-OH group and its contiguous carbon atoms of lignin served as the primary active sites to react with grafting monomers. Flocculation experiments revealed that PRL-VAc-DMC could react with tetracycline (TC) through π-π* interaction, hydrophobic interaction, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic attraction. With the coexistence of humic acid (HA) and Kaolin, the aromatic ring, hydroxyl, and amide group of TC could react with the benzene ring, hydroxyl group, and carboxyl group of HA, forming TC@HA@Kaolin complexes with Kaolin particles acting as the hydrophilic shell. The increase in particle size, electronegativity, and hydrophily of TC@HA@Kaolin complexes facilitated their interaction with PRL-VAc-DMC through strong interfacial interactions. Consequently, the presence of HA and Kaolin promoted the removal of TC. The synergistic removal mechanism of TC, HA, and Kaolin by PRL-VAc-DMC was systematically analyzed from the perspective of muti-interface interactions. This paper is of great significance for the comprehensive utilization of pulp reject and provides new insights into the flocculation mechanism at the molecular scale.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) plays a crucial role as an oxidizing agent within the tropospheric environment, making a substantial contribution to sulfate formation in hydrated aerosols and cloud and fog droplets. Field observations show that high levels of H2O2 are often observed in heavy haze events and polluted air. However, the source of H2O2 remains unclear. Here, using the droplets formed in situ by the deliquescence of hygroscopic compounds under a high relative humidity (RH), the formation of H2O2 by the photochemistry of imidazole-2-carbaldehyde (2-IC) under ultraviolet irradiation was explored. The results indicate that 2-IC produces IM-C•-OH and IM-C•═O radicals via H transfer itself to its excited triplet state and generates H2O2 and organic peroxides in the presence of O2, which has an evident oxidizing effect on SO2, suggesting the potential involvement of this pathway in the formation of atmospheric sulfate. H2O2 formation is limited in acidic droplets or droplets containing ammonium ions, and no H2O2 is detected in droplets containing nitrate, whereas droplets containing citric acid have an obvious promotion effect on H2O2 formation. These findings provide valuable insights into the behaviors of atmospheric photosensitizers, the source of H2O2, and the formation of sulfate in atmospheric droplets.

Aiming at the shortcomings of single-sensor sensing information characterization ability, which is easily interfered with by external environmental factors, a method of intelligent perception is proposed in this paper. This method integrates multi-source and multi-level information, including spindle temperature field, spindle thermal deformation, operating parameters, and motor current. Firstly, the internal and external thermal-error-related signals of the spindle system are collected by sensors, and the feature parameters are extracted; then, the radial basis function (RBF) neural network is utilized to realize the preliminary integration of the feature parameters because of the advantages of the RBF neural network, which offers strong multi-dimensional solid nonlinear mapping ability and generalization ability. Thermal-error decision values are then generated by a weighted fusion of different pieces of evidence by considering uncertain information from multiple sources. The spindle thermal-error sensing experiment was based on the spindle system of the VMC850 (Yunnan Machine Tool Group Co., LTD, Yunnan, China) vertical machining center of the Yunnan Machine Tool Factory. Experiments were designed for thermal-error sensing of the spindle under constant speed (2000 r/min and 4000 r/min), standard variable speed, and stepped variable speed conditions. The experiment's results show that the prediction accuracy of the intelligent-sensing model with multi-source information fusion can reach 98.1%, 99.3%, 98.6%, and 98.8% under the above working conditions, respectively. The intelligent-perception model proposed in this paper has higher accuracy and lower residual error than the traditional BP neural network perception and wavelet neural network models. The research in this paper provides a theoretical basis for the operation, maintenance management, and performance optimization of machine tool spindle systems.

Background: Nurse turnover has become a salient issue in healthcare system worldwide and seriously compromises patient outcomes. Social support is considered an effective contributor to alleviate nurse turnover intention (TI). However, the degree of correlation between social support and nurse TI remains elusive. Aims: This study aims to evaluate the strength of the effectiveness of social support on TI among nurses as well as its potential moderators. Design: This systematic review and meta-analysis followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Methods: To obtained qualified studies, two researchers searched Embase, PubMed, Web of science, CINAHL, CNKI, WanFang, and Chinese Medical Journal Full Text Database from inception to January 6, 2024. Meta-analysis, publication bias, and sensitivity analysis were carried out on the included studies using CMA 3.0 software, and the moderating effect was verified through meta-analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: A total of 38 studies were obtained, involving 63,989 clinical nurses. The comprehensive effect size of the random effect model showed a significant medium negative correlation between social support and TI among nurses (p < 0.001). The sample size and TI measurement tools significantly moderated the correlation between social support and TI (p < 0.050). However, nurse department, gender, data collection time, and social support measurement tools did not moderate the correlation between the two variables. Conclusion: Social support is negatively associated with TI in nurses. Nursing administrators and the medical community should fully recognize the importance of social support for nurses and take corresponding measures to enhance it, thereby reducing TI and ensuring the stability of the nursing team.

Crop migration can moderate the impacts of global warming on crop production, but its feedback on the climate and environment remains unknown. Here we develop an integrated framework to capture the climate impacts and the feedback of adaptation behaviours with the land-water-energy-carbon nexus perspective and identify opportunities to achieve the synergies between climate adaptation and environmental sustainability. We apply the framework to assess wheat and maize migration in the North China Plain and show that adaptation through wheat migration could increase crop production by ~18.5% in the 2050s, but at the cost of disproportional increment in land use (~19.2%), water use (~20.2%), energy use (~19.5%) and carbon emissions (~19.9%). Irrigation and fertilization management are critical mitigation opportunities in the framework, through which wheat migration can be optimized to reduce the climatic and environmental impacts and avoid potential carbon leakage. Our work highlights the sustainable climate adaptation to mitigate negative environmental externalities.

This experiment aimed to explore the influence mechanism of external fixator on open fracture. A total of 128 patients with open tibiofibular fractures were included in this study. The patients were randomly divided into external fixator group (n=64) and control group (n=64) according to the order of admission. Double-blind controlled observation was used. The levels of osteocalcin (BGP), ß-CTX, P1 NP, BALP, including haptoglobin (Hp), ceruloplasmin (CER), serum adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), cortisol (COR), C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell (WBC) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were recorded in different groups. The postoperative VAS score and quality of life were recorded. Log-rank was used to analyze the difference in postoperative adverse reaction rates among different groups. External fixation stent treatment increased BGP, PINP, and BALP expression and decreased ß-CTX, Hp, CER, ACTH, COR, CRP, WBC, and IL-6 levels. Patients in the external fixation stent group had significantly lower VAS score quality of life scores and incidence of adverse events than the control group. External fixation stents protect open fracture patients by promoting bone metabolism.

PARP7 has been proven to play an important role in immunity. Substantial upregulation of PARP7 is observed in numerous cancerous cell types, consequently resulting in the inhibition of type Ⅰ interferon signaling pathways. Therefore, inhibiting the activity of PARP7 can enhance type Ⅰ interferon signaling to exert an anti-tumor immune response. In this study, we reported the identification of a newly found PARP7 inhibitor (XLY-1) with higher inhibitory activity (IC50 = 0.6 nM) than that of RBN-2397 (IC50 = 6.0 nM). Additionally, XYL-1 displayed weak inhibitory activity on PARP1 (IC50 > 1.0 µM). Mechanism studies showed that XYL-1 could enhance the type Ⅰ interferon signaling in vitro. Pharmacodynamic experiments showed that 50 mg/kg XYL-1 could significantly inhibit tumor growth (TGI: 76.5 %) and related experiments showed that XYL-1 could restore type Ⅰ interferon signaling and promote T cell infiltration in tumor tissues. Taken together, XYL-1 shows promise as a potential candidate for developing cancer immunotherapy agents.

PURPOSE: This study is to investigate the diagnostic value of 68Ga-PSMA-11 in improving the concordance between mpMRI-TB and combined biopsy (CB) in detecting PCa. METHODS: 115 consecutive men with 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT prior to prostate biopsy were included for analysis. PSMA intensity, quantified as maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax), minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (ADCmin) and other clinical characteristics were evaluated relative to biopsy concordance using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. A prediction model was developed based on the identified parameters, and a dynamic online diagnostic nomogram was constructed, with its discrimination evaluated through the area under the ROC curve (AUC) and consistency assessed using calibration plots. To assess its clinical applicability, a decision curve analysis (DCA) was performed, while internal validation was conducted using bootstrapping methods. RESULTS: Concordance between mpMRI-TB and CB occurred in 76.5% (88/115) of the patients. Multivariate logistic regression analyses performed that SUVmax (OR= 0.952; 95% CI 0.917-0.988; P= 0.010) and ADCmin (OR= 1.006; 95% CI 1.003-1.010; P= 0.001) were independent risk factors for biopsy concordance. The developed model showed a sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and AUC of 0.67, 0.78, 0.81 and 0.78 in the full sample. The calibration curve demonstrated that the nomogram's predicted outcomes closely resembled the ideal curve, indicating consistency between predicted and actual outcomes. Furthermore, the decision curve analysis (DCA) highlighted the clinical net benefit achievable across various risk thresholds. These findings were reinforced by internal validation. CONCLUSIONS: The developed prediction model based on SUVmax and ADCmin showed practical value in guiding the optimization of prostate biopsy pattern. Lower SUVmax and Higher ADCmin values are associated with greater confidence in implementing mono-TB and safely avoiding SB, effectively balancing benefits and risks.

We investigate the reaction pathways of nine important CO2-related reactions using the revDSD-PBEP86-D3(BJ)/jun-cc-pV(T+d)Z level and simultaneously employ an accurate composite method (jun-Cheap) based on coupled-cluster (CC) theory. Subsequently, the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus/master equation (RRKM/ME) is solved to calculate the temperature- and pressure-dependent rate constants. This work investigates reactions involving transition states that have been overlooked in previous literature, including the dissociation of singlet-state C3O2, the triple channel formation of C2O + CO to form C3O2, and the formation of O3 + CO. The results show that CO3 is highly prone to dissociation at high temperatures. Finally, the kinetic data show that over a wide temperature range, our calculations are consistent with previous experimental measurements. The majority of the reaction rate constants studied exhibit significant pressure dependence, while the O3 + CO reaction is pressure-independent at low temperatures. These results are instrumental in the development of detailed kinetic models for the CO2 radiolysis reaction network.

BACKGROUND: Tetraspanin CD151 is highly expressed in endothelia and reinforces cell adhesion, but its role in vascular inflammation remains largely unknown. METHODS: In vitro molecular and cellular biological analyses on genetically modified endothelial cells, in vivo vascular biological analyses on genetically engineered mouse models, and in silico systems biology and bioinformatics analyses on CD151-related events. RESULTS: Endothelial ablation of Cd151 leads to pulmonary and cardiac inflammation, severe sepsis, and perilous COVID-19, and endothelial CD151 becomes downregulated in inflammation. Mechanistically, CD151 restrains endothelial release of proinflammatory molecules for less leukocyte infiltration. At the subcellular level, CD151 determines the integrity of multivesicular bodies/lysosomes and confines the production of exosomes that carry cytokines such as ANGPT2 (angiopoietin-2) and proteases such as cathepsin-D. At the molecular level, CD151 docks VCP (valosin-containing protein)/p97, which controls protein quality via mediating deubiquitination for proteolytic degradation, onto endolysosomes to facilitate VCP/p97 function. At the endolysosome membrane, CD151 links VCP/p97 to (1) IFITM3 (interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3), which regulates multivesicular body functions, to restrain IFITM3-mediated exosomal sorting, and (2) V-ATPase, which dictates endolysosome pH, to support functional assembly of V-ATPase. CONCLUSIONS: Distinct from its canonical function in strengthening cell adhesion at cell surface, CD151 maintains endolysosome function by sustaining VCP/p97-mediated protein unfolding and turnover. By supporting protein quality control and protein degradation, CD151 prevents proteins from (1) buildup in endolysosomes and (2) discharge through exosomes, to limit vascular inflammation. Also, our study conceptualizes that balance between degradation and discharge of proteins in endothelial cells determines vascular information. Thus, the IFITM3/V-ATPase-tetraspanin-VCP/p97 complexes on endolysosome, as a protein quality control and inflammation-inhibitory machinery, could be beneficial for therapeutic intervention against vascular inflammation.

Contamination of rice by the potent neurotoxin methylmercury (MeHg) originates from microbe-mediated Hg methylation in soils. However, the high diversity of Hg methylating microorganisms in soils hinders the prediction of MeHg formation and challenges the mitigation of MeHg bioaccumulation via regulating soil microbiomes. Here we explored the roles of various cropland microbial communities in MeHg formation in the potentials leading to MeHg accumulation in rice and reveal that Geobacteraceae are the key predictors of MeHg bioaccumulation in paddy soil systems. We characterized Hg methylating microorganisms from 67 cropland ecosystems across 3,600 latitudinal kilometres. The simulations of a rice-paddy biogeochemical model show that MeHg accumulation in rice is 1.3-1.7-fold more sensitive to changes in the relative abundance of Geobacteraceae compared to Hg input, which is recognized as the primary parameter in controlling MeHg exposure. These findings open up a window to predict MeHg formation and accumulation in human food webs, enabling more efficient mitigation of risks to human health through regulations of key soil microbiomes.

BACKGROUND: Hip fracture always requires hospitalization with high cost, which cause the complicated experiences and feelings. OBJECTIVE: To inform pre- and in-hospital communication practices between healthcare professionals and patients through a systematic review and qualitative research that synthesizes the experiences and feelings of older patients with hip fracture during the perioperative period. METHODS: We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, and three Chinese databases for relevant studies. Qualitative studies were included if they were related to the experiences and needs of hospitalization of older patients with hip fracture. Study quality was evaluated using the 2016 Joanna Briggs Institute quality evaluation criteria for qualitative research, and the results were consolidated using an thematic synthesis approach. RESULTS: Sixteen studies were included in our meta-synthesis. We extracted 58 clear research topics. Eight new categories were formed after induction and integration, which were finally merged into three integrated results. Integration result 1: Patients suffered a large amount of physical and psychological trauma. Integration result 2: A balance of proper protection and independence for patients is required. Integration result 3: Adequate pre-discharge preparation is required. CONCLUSIONS: Our review suggests that healthcare professionals should reduce pain catastrophizing and the fear of falling after surgery among older people with hip fracture. Furthermore, adequate pre-discharge preparation should be made jointly with patients. Meeting patients' diverse needs by various methods will promote active and healthy aging.

Despite the existence of many interventions to mitigate or adapt to the health effects of climate change, their effectiveness remains unclear. Here, we introduce the Comprehensive Evaluation Framework for Intervention on Health Effects of Ambient Temperature to evaluate study designs and effects of intervention studies. The framework comprises three types of interventions: proactive, indirect, and direct, and four categories of indicators: classification, methods, scope, and effects. We trialed the framework by an evaluation of existing intervention studies. The evaluation revealed that each intervention has its own applicable characteristics in terms of effectiveness, feasibility, and generalizability scores. We expanded the framework's potential by offering a list of intervention recommendations in different scenarios. Future applications are then explored to establish models of the relationship between study designs and intervention effects, facilitating effective interventions to address the health effects of ambient temperature under climate change.
