RESUMO

Collapsing and degradation of active materials caused by the electrode/electrolyte interface instability in aqueous batteries are one of the main obstacles that mitigate the capacity. Herein by reversing the notorious side reactions include the loss and dissolution of electrode materials: as we applied Ostwald ripening (OR) in the electrochemical cycling of a copper hexacyanoferrate electrode in a hydronium-ion batteries, the dissolved Cu and Fe ions undergo a crystallization process that creates a stable interface layer of cross-linked cubes on the electrode surface. The layer exposed the low-index crystal planes (100) and (110) through OR-induced electrode particle growth, supplemented by vacancy-ordered (100) superlattices that facilitated ion migration. Our design stabilized the electrode-electrolyte interface considerably, achieving a cycle life of one million cycles with capacity retention of 91.6%, and a capacity retention of 91.7% after 3000 cycles for a full battery.

RESUMO

The innovation of synthetic strategies for selective B-H functionalization is a pivotal objective in the realm of boron cluster chemistry. However, the precise, efficient, and rapid functionalization of a B-H bond of carboranes that is distant from the existing functional groups remains intractable owing to the limited approaches for site-selective control from the established methods. Herein, we report a dative bonding activation strategy for the selective functionalization of a nonclassical remote B-H site of nido-carboranes. By leveraging the electronic effects brought by the exopolyhedral B(9)-dative bond, a cross-nucleophile B-H/S-H coupling protocol of the distal B(5)-H bond has been established. The dative bond not only amplifies the subtle reactivity difference among B-H bonds but also significantly changes the reactive sites, further infusing nido-carboranes with additional structural diversity. This reaction paradigm features mild conditions, rapid conversion, efficient production, broad scope, and excellent group tolerance, thus enabling the applicability to an array of complex bioactive molecules. The efficient and scalable reaction platform is amenable to the modular construction of photofunctional molecules and boron delivery agents for boron neutron capture therapy. This work not only provides an unprecedented solution for the selective diversification of distal B-H sites in nido-carboranes but also holds the potential for expediting the discovery of novel carborane-based functional molecules.

RESUMO

Myocardial infarction (MI) is the primary source of death in cardiovascular diseases. Myricitrin (MYR) is a phenolic compound known for its antioxidant properties. This study aimed to investigate the impact of MYR alone or combined with exercise on a rat model of MI and its underlying mechanism. Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into 5 groups: sham-operated (Sham), MI-sedentary (MI-Sed), MI-exercise (MI-Ex), MI-sedentary + MYR (MI-Sed-MYR) and MI-exercise + MYR (MI-Ex-MYR). MI was induced through ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery. The treatment with exercise or MYR (30 mg/kg/d) gavage began one week after surgery, either individually or in combination. After 8 weeks, the rats were assessed for cardiac function. Myocardial injuries were estimated using triphenyltetrazolium chloride, sirius red and Masson staining. Changes in reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm), apoptosis and Nrf2/HO-1 pathway were analyzed by ROS kit, JC-1 kit, TUNEL assay, Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Both MYR and exercise treatments improved cardiac function, reduced infarct size, suppressed collagen deposition, and decreased myocardial fibrosis. Additionally, both MYR and exercise treatments lowered ROS production induced by MI, restored ΔΨm, and attenuated oxidative stress and apoptosis in cardiomyocytes. Importantly, the combination of MYR and exercise showed greater efficacy compared to individual treatments. Mechanistically, the combined intervention activated the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway. These findings suggest that the synergistic effect of MYR and exercise may offer a promising therapeutic approach for alleviating MI.

RESUMO

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-induced viral pneumonia in children is common worldwide. Its high occurrence and lack of an effective vaccine make it a leading cause of death in children. Severe RSV infection can trigger uncontrolled inflammatory responses in patients, so the development of small molecule drugs with the dual function of "direct antivirus" and "inflammatory response regulation" is welcome. Resveratrol (Res) has been reported to have antiviral and anti-inflammatory pharmacological effects, but its application is limited because of its poor water solubility and oral bioavailability. Based on small-molecule nanotechnology, we developed a sonication-assisted self-assembly method for preparing insoluble Res into highly soluble resveratrol nanoparticles (Res NPs). The obtained Res NPs exhibited a higher water solubility and a faster dissolution rate, which was more conducive to the effectiveness of Res in addressing RSV-induced viral pneumonia. In vitro studies had shown that Res NPs played an antiviral role by inhibiting RSV replication and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Nebulized inhalation administration of Res NPs prolonged the drug's residence time in the lungs, which appears to increase the accumulation and effectiveness of Res NPs. Additionally, in vivo studies had demonstrated significant benefits of Res NPs in inhibiting RSV viral load and improving the pulmonary microenvironment in RSV-infected mice. Both antiviral and anti-inflammatory experiments had confirmed that the pharmacological activity of Res NPs is superior to that of Res. This suggested that nanosizing Res was an effective way to enhance the original pharmacological activity of Res and also offered a new formulation strategy for treating viral pneumonia.

RESUMO

Maternal immune activation (MIA) during pregnancy has been increasingly recognized as a critical factor in the development of neurodevelopmental disorders, with potential sex-specific impacts that are not yet fully understood. In this study, we utilized a murine model to explore the behavioral and molecular consequences of MIA induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration on embryonic day 12.5. Our findings indicate that male offspring exposed to LPS exhibited significant increases in anxiety-like and depression-like behaviors, while female offspring did not show comparable changes. Molecular analyses revealed alterations in pro-inflammatory cytokine levels and synaptic gene expression in male offspring, suggesting that these molecular disruptions may underlie the observed behavioral differences. These results emphasize the importance of considering sex as a biological variable in studies of neurodevelopmental disorders and highlight the need for further molecular investigations to understand the mechanisms driving these sex-specific outcomes. Our study contributes to the growing evidence that prenatal immune challenges play a pivotal role in the etiology of neurodevelopmental disorders and underscores the potential for sex-specific preventative approaches of MIA.

RESUMO

Population-wide increase in life expectancy is a source of aggregate longevity risk. Life insurance is a natural instrument to manage the risk. Previous studies used chronological age to examine the relationship between aging and life insurance purchase, which ignored the impact of subjective life expectancy-the real perception of remaining time. Therefore, this study aims to fill the lack in this area and to explore in depth the relationship between subjective life expectancy and purchasing life insurance among middle-aged and older adult at micro perspective. This paper utilizes data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) over a period of 4 years to construct both Probit and Tobit models. The findings reveal that subjective life expectancy positively affects the likelihood of participation and the extent of life insurance among the middle-aged and older adult population in China. IV model estimation results show good robustness of the results. Meanwhile, there is also heterogeneity in the effect with respect to gender, hukou, education and wealth. The findings provide new perspective to explain the subjective motivation of purchasing life insurance in China.

RESUMO

The West Coast New Area is a typical city in China where water supply is predominantly sourced from reservoirs. Heavy metal pollution in these reservoirs directly impacts the safety of drinking water and human health. Therefore, this study comprehensively evaluated the status of heavy metal pollution in the water environment and sediment of the main water supply reservoir in the study area, revealing the interaction relationship and pollution sources, as well as assessing the probabilistic health risks to human beings. The results show that there are different degrees of pollution in the main water supply reservoirs in the study area, and the pollution increases with the increase of water depth. The heavy metal pollution index was up to 2681, indicating heavily pollution. The main polluting elements were Mn and Fe, and the maximum contents were 4.11 mg L-1 and 0.68 mg L-1, respectively, which far exceeded the Class III standard limit of drinking water in China. The main source of pollution is human activities, and Mn release from sediment aggravates deep water pollution. The non-carcinogenic risk index of heavy metals in the reservoir, ranging from 4% to 14%, is higher than 1, indicating a potential non-carcinogenic threat. Furthermore, heavy metals have a much greater impact on children compared to adults, among which Mn is the main contributor to human non-carcinogenic risk, contributing more than 60%. Therefore, controlling the content of Mn and Fe can effectively reduce the heavy metal pollution of reservoir and human health risk. The research results are of great significance for the utilization of reservoir water resources and the protection of the ecological environment in the study area.

RESUMO

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is one of the most significant pathogenic infections in childhood, associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. Currently, there is no effective and safe drug or vaccine available for RSV. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA), an active compound derived from the natural herb licorice, has been reported to provide protection against influenza and coronaviruses, exhibiting notable antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Ephedrine (EPH) is a commonly prescribed medication for the treatment of cough and asthma, and it also demonstrates certain antiviral effects. In this study, EPH and GA were combined to form an efficient nanomaterial (EPH-GA nanogel). The self-assembly of this nanogel is driven by hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions, allowing it to serve as an antiviral nanomedicine without the need for a dual-component carrier, achieving a 100% drug loading efficiency. Oral administration of the EPH-GA nanogel significantly reduced viral load in the lungs of mice and improved lung lesions and tissue infiltration caused by RSV. Notably, we discovered that the assembled drug may create a "physical barrier" that prevents RSV from adsorbing to host cells, while free GA and EPH may compete with RSV for protein binding sites, thereby enhancing cellular uptake of EPH. Consequently, this prevents RSV infection and proliferation within host cells. Furthermore, the EC50 values changed from 310.83 µM for EPH and 262.88 µM for GA to 68.25 µM for the EPH-GA combination, with a combination index of 0.458. In addition, the in vivo biopharmaceutic process of GA and EPH was investigated, revealing that the oral administration of EPH-GA significantly increased the bioavailability of EPH while maintaining its plasma concentration at a relatively stable level. This enhancement may contribute to a synergistic antiviral effect when combined with GA. Furthermore, the in vivo process of EPH-GA demonstrates the advantage of delivering the drug to the lesion at elevated levels, thereby facilitating its antiviral mechanism at the cellular level. In this study, we identified an effective nanomedicine, EPH-GA nanogel, which can inhibit the proliferation of RSV and mitigate lung lesions resulting from viral infection by influencing the biopharmaceutical process in vivo. This research not only offers a novel strategy for the nanomedicine treatment of RSV but also elucidates, to some extent, the compatibility mechanisms of the multicomponents of traditional Chinese medicine.

RESUMO

We introduce XGR-model (or XGRm), a web server made accessible at http://www.xgrm.pro, with the aim of meeting the increasing demand for effectively interpreting summary-level genomic data in model organisms. Currently, it hosts two enrichment analysers and two subnetwork analysers to support enrichment and subnetwork analyses for user-input mouse genomic data, whether gene-centric or genomic region-centric. The enrichment analysers identify ontology term enrichments for input genes (GElyser) or for genes linked from input genomic regions (RElyser). The subnetwork analysers rely on our previously established network algorithm to identify gene subnetworks from input gene-centric summary data (GSlyser) or from input region-centric summary data (RSlyser), leveraging network information about either functional interactions or pathway-derived interactions. Collectively, XGRm offers an all-in-one solution for gaining systems biology insights into summary-level genomic data in mice, underpinned by our commitment to regular updates as well as natural extensions to other model organisms.

RESUMO

Exploring the impact of low-temperature storage on the fitness of natural enemy insects is crucial for practical field applications because this parameter directly influences their potential for population growth and effective pest control. Eocanthecona furcellata (Wolff) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is widely used in biological pest control. This study aimed to identify optimal storage stages, temperatures, and durations for E. furcellata to produce high-quality individuals for practical use. The quality of E. furcellata after storage was evaluated by assessing parameters such as predatory capacity and fecundity, along with age-stage, two-sex life table. The findings revealed that the adult stage was the optimal storage form for E. furcellata, and the most favorable temperature for storage was 12 °C. Adult females had the highest predatory ability after 15 days of storage at 12 °C. Although survival rates declined with prolonged storage, they remained above 50% after 30 days, and longevity, fecundity, and predatory capacity of surviving individuals remained comparable to those of individuals in the control group (rearing at a constant temperature of 26 °C without low-temperature storage). The effects of low-temperature storage extended to the F1 generation of E. furcellata, which exhibited maximum mean longevity, fecundity, net reproductive rate, and mean generation time as well as fastest population growth after 30 days of storage at 12 °C. These results can be used to achieve optimal low-temperature storage conditions for E. furcellata production, particularly for extending its shelf life.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains a significant challenge in cancer therapy, especially due to its resistance to established treatments like Gemcitabine, necessitating novel therapeutic approaches. METHODS: This study utilized Gemcitabine-resistant cell lines, patient-derived organotypic tumor spheroids (PDOTs), and patient-derived xenografts (PDX) to evaluate the effects of Saikosaponin-a (SSA) on ICC cellular proliferation, migration, apoptosis, and its potential synergistic interaction with Gemcitabine. Techniques such as transcriptome sequencing, Luciferase reporter assays, and molecular docking were employed to unravel the molecular mechanisms. RESULTS: SSA exhibited antitumor effects in both in vitro and PDX models, indicating its considerable potential for ICC treatment. SSA markedly inhibited ICC progression by reducing cellular proliferation, enhancing apoptosis, and decreasing migration and invasion. Crucially, it augmented Gemcitabine's efficacy by targeting the p-AKT/BCL6/ABCA1 signaling pathway. This modulation led to the downregulation of p-AKT and suppression of BCL6 transcriptional activity, ultimately reducing ABCA1 expression and enhancing chemosensitivity to Gemcitabine. Additionally, ABCA1 was validated as a predictive biomarker for drug resistance, with a direct correlation between ABCA1 expression levels and the IC50 values of various small molecule drugs in ICC gene profiles. CONCLUSION: This study highlights the synergistic potential of SSA combined with Gemcitabine in enhancing therapeutic efficacy against ICC and identifies ABCA1 as a key biomarker for drug responsiveness. Furthermore, the introduction of the novel PDOTs microfluidic model provides enhanced insights into ICC research. This combination strategy may provide a novel approach to overcoming treatment challenges in ICC.

RESUMO

Early stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presents a formidable challenge in clinical settings due to its asymptomatic progression and the limitations of current imaging techniques in detecting micro-HCC lesions. Addressing this critical issue, we introduce a novel ultrathin gadolinium-oxide (Gd-oxide) nanosheet-based platform with heightened sensitivity for high-field MRI and as a therapeutic agent for HCC. Synthesized via a digestive ripening process, these Gd-oxide nanosheets exhibit an exceptional acid-responsive profile. The integration of the ultrathin Gd-oxide with an acid-responsive polymer creates an ultrasensitive high-field MRI probe, enabling the visualization of submillimeter-sized tumors with superior sensitivity. Our research underscores the ultrasensitive probe's efficacy in the treatment of orthotopic HCC. Notably, the ultrasensitive probe functions dually as a companion diagnostic tool, facilitating simultaneous imaging and therapy with real-time treatment monitoring capabilities. In conclusion, this study showcases an innovative companion diagnostic tool that holds promise for the early detection and effective treatment of micro-HCC.

RESUMO

Introduction: KEYNOTE-394 showed pembrolizumab significantly improved overall survival, progression-free survival, and objective response rate with manageable safety versus placebo for patients from Asia with previously treated advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. We present results on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Methods: HRQoL was evaluated using the EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and EuroQol-5D-3L (EQ-5D-3L) questionnaires. Key HRQoL endpoints were least squares mean (LSM) score changes from baseline to week 12 and time to deterioration (TTD) for EORTC QLQ-C30 global health status (GHS)/QoL. p values were one-sided and nominal without adjustment for multiplicity. Results: The HRQoL population included patients randomly assigned to pembrolizumab (n = 298) and placebo (n = 152). From baseline to week 12, a greater decline in EORTC QLQ-C30 GHS/QoL score was observed with placebo (LSM, -8.4; 95% CI: -11.7 to -5.1) versus pembrolizumab (-4.0; 95% CI: -6.4 to -1.6; difference vs. placebo: 4.4; 95% CI: 0.5-8.4; nominal p = 0.0142). Similarly, a greater decline in the EQ-5D-3L visual analog scale score was observed with placebo (-6.9; 95% CI: -9.4 to -4.5) versus pembrolizumab (-2.7; 95% CI: -4.5 to -1.0; difference vs. placebo: 4.2; 95% CI: 1.2-7.2; nominal p = 0.0030). TTD in EORTC QLQ-C30 GHS/QoL score was similar between arms (hazard ratio, 0.85; 95% CI: 0.58-1.25; nominal p = 0.1993). Conclusion: Patients receiving placebo showed a greater decline in HRQoL than those receiving pembrolizumab. Combined with efficacy and safety data from KEYNOTE-394 and the global KEYNOTE-240 and KEYNOTE-224 trials, our data support the clinically meaningful benefit and manageable tolerability of pembrolizumab as second-line therapy for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.

RESUMO

The increasing demand for high-performance electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries has driven significant attention towards Nb2O5 due to its high working voltage, large theoretical capacity, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness. However, inherent drawbacks such as poor electrical conductivity and sluggish electrochemical reaction kinetics have hindered its lithium storage performance. In this study, we introduced KCa2Nb3O10 into Nb2O5 to form a heterojunction, creating a built-in electric field to enhance the migration and diffusion of Li+, effectively promoting electrochemical reaction kinetics. Under the regulation of the built-in electric field, the charge transfer resistance of the KCa2Nb3O10/Nb2O5 anode decreased by 3.4 times compared to pure Nb2O5, and the Li+ diffusion coefficient improved by two orders of magnitude. Specifically, the KCa2Nb3O10/Nb2O5 anode exhibited a high capacity of 276 mAh g-1 under 1 C, retaining a capacity of 128 mAh g-1 even at 100 C. After 3000 cycles at 25 C, the capacity degradation was only 0.012% per cycle. Through combined theoretical calculations and experimental validation, it was found that the built-in electric field induced by the heterojunction interface contributed to an asymmetric charge distribution, thereby improving the rates of charge and ion migration within the electrode, ultimately enhancing the electrochemical performance of the electrode material. This study provides an effective approach for the rational design of high-performance electrode materials.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele exerts a significant influence on peripheral inflammation and neuroinflammation, yet the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. METHODS: The present study enrolled 54 patients diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD; including 28 APOE ε4 carriers and 26 non-carriers). Plasma inflammatory cytokine concentration was assessed, alongside bulk RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). RESULTS: Plasma tumor necrosis factor α, interferon γ, and interleukin (IL)-33 levels increased in the APOE ε4 carriers but IL-7 expression notably decreased. A negative correlation was observed between plasma IL-7 level and the hippocampal atrophy degree. Additionally, the expression of IL-7R and CD28 also decreased in PBMCs of APOE ε4 carriers. ScRNA-seq data results indicated that the changes were mainly related to the CD4+ Tem (effector memory) and CD8+ Tem T cells. DISCUSSION: These findings shed light on the role of the downregulated IL-7/IL-7R pathway associated with the APOE ε4 allele in modulating neuroinflammation and hippocampal atrophy. HIGHLIGHTS: The apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele decreases plasma interleukin (IL)-7 and aggravates hippocampal atrophy in Alzheimer's disease. Plasma IL-7 level is negatively associated with the degree of hippocampal atrophy. The expression of IL-7R signaling decreased in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of APOE ε4 carriers Dysregulation of the IL-7/IL-7R signal pathways enriches T cells.

RESUMO

Ni-rich LiNi x Co y Mn z O2 (NCMxyz, x + y + z = 1, x ≥ 0.8) layered oxide materials are considered the main cathode materials for high-energy-density Li-ion batteries. However, the endless cracking of polycrystalline NCM materials caused by stress accelerates the loss of active materials and electrolyte decomposition, limiting the cycle life. Hence, understanding the chemo-mechanical evolution during (de)lithiation of NCM materials is crucial to performance improvement. In this work, an optical fiber with µÎµ resolution is designed to in operando detect the stress evolution of a polycrystalline LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 (P-NCM811) cathode during cycling. By integrating the sensor inside the cathode, the stress variation of P-NCM811 is completely transferred to the optical fiber. We find that the anisotropy of primary particles leads to the appearance of structural stress, inducing the formation of microcracks in polycrystalline particles, which is the main reason for capacity decay. The isotropy of primary particles reduces the structural stress of polycrystalline particles, eliminating the generation of microcracks. Accordingly, the P-NCM811 with an ordered arrangement structure delivered high electrochemical performance with capacity retention of 82% over 500 cycles. This work provides a brand-new perspective with regard to understanding the operando chemo-mechanical evolution of NCM materials during battery operation, and guides the design of electrode materials for rechargeable batteries.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to put forward a feature extraction and pattern recognition method for the flow noise signal of natural gas pipelines in view of the complex situation brought by the rapid development and expansion of urban natural gas infrastructure in China, especially in the case that there are active and abandoned pipelines, metal and nonmetal pipelines, and natural gas, water and power pipelines coexist in the underground of the city. Because the underground situation is unknown, gas leakage incidents caused by natural gas pipeline rupture occur from time to time, posing a threat to personal safety. Therefore, the motivation of this study is to provide a feasible method to accelerate the aging, renewal and transformation of urban natural gas pipelines to ensure the safe operation of urban natural gas pipeline network and promote the high-quality development of urban economy. Through the combination of experimental test and numerical simulation, this study establishes a database of urban natural gas pipeline flow noise signals, and uses principal component analysis (PCA) to extract the characteristics of flow noise signals, and develops a mathematical model for feature extraction. Then, a classification and recognition model based on backpropagation neural network (BPNN) is constructed, which realizes the detection and recognition of convective noise signals. The research results show that the theoretical method based on acoustic feature analysis provides guidance for the orderly and safe construction of urban natural gas pipeline network and ensures its safe operation. The research conclusion shows that through the simulation analysis of 75 groups of gas pipeline flow noise under different working conditions. Combined with the experimental verification of ground flow noise signals, the feature extraction and pattern recognition method proposed in this study has a recognition accuracy of up to 97% under strong noise background, which confirms the accuracy of numerical simulation and provides theoretical basis and technical support for the detection and recognition of urban gas pipeline flow noise.

RESUMO

Introduction: The relationship between different puncture points and perioperative complications and length of stay in hospital (LOS) in SCCAG patients has rarely been reported. Aim: To compare the curative effect and safety of the transradial artery approach and the transfemoral artery approach in combined heart-brain angiography. Material and methods: 120 patients who received combined cardio-cerebral angiography in our hospital were selected and divided into a transradial artery approach group (TRA) and a transfemoral artery approach group (TFA) according to a random number table. The postoperative efficacy and safety of the 2 groups were compared. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in puncture time and operation time between the 2 groups (p > 0.05). Postoperative bed rest time, hospitalization time, and X-ray exposure time in the TRA group were shorter than those in the TFA group, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Before operation and 3 days after operation, there was no significant difference in left ventricle ejection fraction between the 2 groups (p > 0. 05). The overall incidence of complications in the TFA group was higher than that in the TRA group. The incidence between haematoma and pseudoaneurysm in the TFA group was higher, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusions: For simultaneous heart-brain angiography, interventional therapy via radial artery and femoral artery has good curative effect and can improve cardiac function. However, interventional therapy through the radial artery can shorten the postoperative bed rest time and hospitalization time, and reduce the incidence of complications.

RESUMO

Heavy metal accumulation in agricultural products has become a major concern. Previous studies have focused on the transport of heavy metals from the soil and their accumulation in crops. However, recent studies revealed that wheat leaves, ears, and awns can also transport and accumulate heavy metals. Wheat grains can be influenced by two sources of heavy metals: soil contamination and atmospheric deposition. To comprehend the transport characteristics of heavy metals in soil, atmospheric deposition, and wheat, 37 samples each for wheat rhizosphere soil, wheat roots, stems, leaves, and grains were collected. Fifteen samples of atmospheric dry deposition and atmospheric wet deposition were collected from Linshu County (northern area), China. Based on the test data, the characteristics of heavy metals and their distribution in the study area were analyzed. Migration patterns of heavy metals in crops from different sources were investigated using Pearson correlation and redundancy analysis. Finally, a predictive model for heavy metals in wheat grains was developed using multiple linear regression analysis. Significant disparities in the distribution of heavy metals existed among wheat roots, stems, leaves, and grains. The coefficient of variation of heavy metals in atmospheric deposition was relatively high, indicating discernible spatial patterns influenced by human activities. Notably, a positive correlation was observed between the concentration of heavy metals in wheat grains and atmospheric deposition of Hg, Cd, and Pb. Conversely, Zn and Ni levels in wheat grains were significantly negatively associated with soil Zn, Ni, pH, and OM content. The contribution of heavy metal elements from different sources varied in their impact on the grain's heavy metal content. Specifically, atmospheric deposition was the primary source of Hg and Pb in wheat grains, while Cd, Ni, Cu, and Zn were predominantly derived from soil. Using a multiple linear regression model, we could accurately predict Hg, Pb, Cd, Ni, Zn, and As concentrations in crop grains. This model can facilitate quantitative evaluation of ecological risk of heavy metals accumulation in crops in the study area.
