RESUMO

A bisphosphirane-fused anthracene (5) was prepared by treatment of a sterically encumbered amino phosphorus dichloride (3) with MgA•3THF (A = anthracene). X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a pentacyclic framework consisting of 5 with two phosphirane rings fused to the anthracene in a trans-fashion. Compound 5 has been shown to be an efficient phosphinidene synthon, readily liberating two transient phosphinidene units for subsequent downstream bond activation via the reductive elimination of anthracene under mild conditions. The formal oxidative addition of H2 and E-H (E = Si, N, P) bonds by the liberated phosphinidene provided diphosphine and substituted phosphines. Furthermore, phosphinidene transfer to alkenes and alkynes smoothly yielded the corresponding phosphiranes and phosphirenes. The mechanism of the H2 activation by 5 was investigated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

RESUMO

CONTEXT: The reliability of serum 1,5-anhydroglucitol (1,5-AG) in type 2 diabetic patients with renal insufficiency remains controversial. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relationship between renal function and serum 1,5-AG, and to assess the extent to which renal function influences 1,5-AG. METHODS: A total of 5337 participants with type 2 diabetes were enrolled. The measured glomerular filtration rate (mGFR) was assayed using 99mTc-DTPA dynamic renal scintigraphy. All subjects were stratified into five groups based on mGFR (≥ 120 [n = 507], 90-120 [n = 2015], 60-90 [n = 2178], 30-60 [n = 604], and < 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 [n = 33]). RESULTS: Overall, the serum 1,5-AG and mGFR levels were 3.3 (1.7-7.0) µg/mL and 88.6 ± 24.1 mL/min/1.73 m2, respectively. mGFR was found to be negatively correlated with 1,5-AG levels (r = -0.189, P < 0.001). Multiple linear regression revealed that mGFR was independently and negatively related to serum 1,5-AG after adjusting for covariates including HbA1c (P < 0.001). In subgroups with mGFR ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73 m2, the correlation coefficients between 1,5-AG and HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, postprandial plasma glucose, and the differences between postprandial and fasting plasma glucose remained significant (range from -0.126 to -0.743, all P < 0.01). However, the link between 1,5-AG and traditional glycemic markers was attenuated in individuals with mGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m2. Sensitivity analysis after excluding anemic patients showed similar results regarding the relationship between serum 1,5-AG and HbA1c across the mGFR subgroups. CONCLUSIONS: Although we observed a weak inverse correlation (r = -0.189) between mGFR and serum 1,5-AG in type 2 diabetes, 1,5-AG remains a valid marker for assessing glucose control in subjects with mild or moderate renal dysfunction.

RESUMO

For materials with coexisting phases, the transition from a random to an ordered distribution of materials often generates new mechanisms. Although the magnetic confinement effect has improved the electromagnetic (EM) performance, the transition from random to ordered magnetic confinement positions remains a synthetic challenge, and the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. Herein, precise control of magnetic nanoparticles is achieved through a spatial confinement growth strategy, preparing five different modalities of magnetic confined carbon fiber materials, effectively inhibiting magnetic agglomeration. Systematic studies have shown that the magnetic confinement network can refine CoNi NPs size and enhance strong magnetic coupling interactions. Compared to CoNi@HCNFs on the hollow carbon fibers (HCNFs) outer surface, HCNFs@CoNi constructed on the inner surface induce stronger spatial charge polarization relaxation at the interface and exhibit stronger magnetic coupling interactions at the inner surface due to the high-density magnetic coupling units at the micro/nanoscale, thereby respectively enhancing dielectric and magnetic losses. Remarkably, they achieve a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -64.54 dB and an absorption bandwidth of 5.60 GHz at a thickness of 1.77 mm. This work reveals the microscale mechanism of magnetic confinement-induced different polarization relaxation and magnetic response, providing a new strategy for designing magnetic materials.

RESUMO

Kiwifruit bacterial canker, caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (PSA), poses a grave threat to the global kiwifruit industry. In this study, we examined the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in kiwifruit's response to PSA. Kiwifruit seedlings subjected to PSA treatment showed significant changes in both miRNA and gene expression compared to the control group. We identified 364 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) and 7170 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Further analysis revealed 180 miRNAs negatively regulating 641 mRNAs. Notably, two miRNAs from the miRNA482 family, miRNA-215-3p and miRNA-29-3p, were found to increase kiwifruit's sensitivity to PSA when overexpressed. These miRNAs were linked to the regulation of NBS-LRR target genes, shedding light on their role in kiwifruit's defence against PSA. This study offers insights into the miRNA482-NBS-LRR network as a crucial component in enhancing kiwifruit bioresistance to PSA infestation and provides promising candidate genes for further research.

RESUMO

Aristolochic acids (AAs) have been identified as a significant risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Ferroptosis is a type of regulated cell death involved in the tumor development. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms by which AAs enhanced the growth of HCC. By conducting bioinformatics and RNA-Seq analyses, we found that AAs were closely correlated with ferroptosis. The physical interaction between p53 and AAs in HepG2 cells was validated by bioinformatics analysis and SPR assays with the binding pocket sites containing Pro92, Arg174, Asp207, Phe212, and His214 of p53. Based on the binding pocket that interacts with AAs, we designed a mutant and performed RNA-Seq profiling. Interestingly, we found that the binding pocket was responsible for ferroptosis, GADD45A, NRF2, and SLC7A11. Functionally, the interaction disturbed the binding of p53 to the promoter of GADD45A or NRF2, attenuating the role of p53 in enhancing GADD45A and suppressing NRF2; the mutant did not exhibit the same effects. Consequently, this event down-regulated GADD45A and up-regulated NRF2, ultimately inhibiting ferroptosis, suggesting that AAs hijacked p53 to down-regulate GADD45A and up-regulate NRF2 in HepG2 cells. Thus, AAs treatment resulted in the inhibition of ferroptosis via the p53/GADD45A/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis, which led to the enhancement of tumor growth. In conclusion, AAs-hijacked p53 restrains ferroptosis through the GADD45A/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis to enhance tumor growth. Our findings provide an underlying mechanism by which AAs enhance HCC and new insights into p53 in liver cancer. Therapeutically, the oncogene NRF2 is a promising target for liver cancer.

RESUMO

A novel room-temperature liquid crystal of tetraphenylethylene derivative (TPE-DHAB) was synthesized using an ionic self-assembly strategy. The TPE-DHAB complex exhibits typical aggregation-induced emission properties and a unique helical supramolecular structure. Moreover, the generation and handedness inversion of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) can be achieved through further chiral solvation, providing a facile approach to fabricate room-temperature liquid crystalline materials with controllable supramolecular structures and tunable CPL properties through a synergistic strategy of ionic self-assembly and chiral solvation process.

RESUMO

It is generally believed that glenoid bone loss (GBL) greater than 25% can be defined as a massive GBL. For this type of recurrent anterior shoulder instability, the traditional Latarjet technique is usually inadequate to restore the GBL. Although the congruent arc Latarjet technique is able to reconstruct a wider glenoid defect with good clinical outcomes, this technique had not been widely applied due to the limited bone width of the coracoid graft and high rate of coracoid osteotomy and screw fixation-related complications. The emerging suture button flexible fixation technique has been proven to achieve good clinical outcomes and is technically friendly. It can significantly reduce the requirements for large coracoid graft bone mass, and the Latarjet procedure's application scope is expanded. We introduce the suture button congruent arc Latarjet technique for treatment of massive GBL in this Technical Note.

RESUMO

Cardiovascular stress reactivity (CVR) is considered as a physiological pathway linking emotional reactivity and emotion regulation with psychopathology. However, the associations between CVR and emotional reactivity and emotion regulation remain underexplored, with limited evidence showing that either excessive or blunted CVR is associated with emotional reactivity and emotional regulation. Recently, moderate CVR has been theoretically hypothesized to be related to optimal outcomes; however, whether CVR is nonlinearly associated with emotional reactivity and emotion regulation still needs to be investigated. Parents of 341 junior school students reported their children's emotional reactivity and emotion regulation on the Emotion Questionnaire, and the students were invited to participate in a mental arithmetic task with continuous cardiovascular monitoring indexed by heart rate (HR) and systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP). Results did not reveal any linear relationships between CVR and emotional reactivity or emotion regulation. However, quadratic associations between HR, SBP reactivity and emotional reactivity and emotion regulation were found even after controlling for sex, age and BMI. Specifically, there was a U-shaped association between HR, SBP reactivity, and emotional reactivity, while there was an inverted U-shaped association between HR, SBP reactivity, and emotion regulation. These findings suggest that moderate to high rather than exaggerated or blunted CVR reflects adaptive emotional reactivity and better emotion regulation among adolescents.

RESUMO

Soybean seeds are susceptible to damage from the Riptortus pedestris, which is a significant factor affecting the quality of soybean seeds. Currently, manual screening methods for soybean seeds are limited to visual inspection, making it difficult to identify seeds that are phenotypically defect-free but have been punctured by stink bugs on the sub-surface. To facilitate the convenient and efficient identification of healthy soybean seeds, this paper proposes a soybean seed pest detection method based on spatial frequency domain imaging combined with RL-SVM. Firstly, soybean optical data is obtained using single integration sphere technique, and the vigor index of soybean seeds is obtained through germination experiments. Then, based on the above two data items using feature extraction algorithms (the successive projections algorithm and the competitive adaptive reweighted sampling algorithm), the characteristic wavelengths of soybeans are identified. Subsequently, the spatial frequency domain imaging technique is used to obtain the sub-surface images of soybean seeds in a forward manner, and the optical coefficients such as the reduced scattering coefficient µ ' s and absorption coefficient µ a of soybean seeds are inverted. Finally, RL-MLR, RL-GRNN, and RL-SVM prediction models are established based on the ratio of the area of insect-damaged sub-surface to the entire seed, soybean varieties, and µ a at three wavelengths (502 nm, 813 nm, and 712 nm) for predicting and identifying soybean the stinging and sucking pest damage levels of soybean seeds. The experimental results show that the spatial frequency domain imaging technique yields small errors in the optical coefficients of soybean seeds, with errors of less than 15% for µ a and less than 10% for µ ' s . After parameter adjustment through reinforcement learning, the Macro-Recall metrics of each model have improved by 10%-15%, and the RL-SVM model achieves a high Macro-Recall value of 0.9635 for classifying the pest damage levels of soybean seeds.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In addition to primary injury, secondary injuries related to BBB disruption and immune-inflammatory response also play an important role in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). And the Golgi apparatus play an important role in the state of ICH. METHODS: ICH model and GM130-silencing ICH model were established in SD rats. The Garcia score was used to score the neurological defects of the rats. Blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity were assessed by amount of extravasated Evans blue, and tight junction proteins. The expression of PD-L1 and GM130were detected through Western-blot and the subtype of microglia was showing with Immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: Compared with the ICH group, GM130-silencing ICH rats got a worsened neurological deficit and enlarged volume of the hematoma. Evan's blue extravasation aggravated as well. The expression of GM130 in peri-hematoma tissue was further decreased, and the morphology and structure of the Golgi apparatus were further damaged. Meanwhile, the GM130 deficit resulted in decreased expression of PD-L1 and more polarization of microglia to the M1 subtype. CONCLUSION: We demonstrate that GM130 could influence the integrity of BBB and plays a role in neuroinflammation via regulation of PD-L1 after ICH. The manipulation of GM130 might be a promising therapeutical target in ICH.

RESUMO

In the formulation of strategies for walking rehabilitation, achieving precise identification of the current state and making rational predictions about the future state are crucial but often unrealized. To tackle this challenge, our study introduces a unified framework that integrates a novel 3D walking motion capture method using multi-source image fusion and a walking rehabilitation simulation approach based on multi-agent reinforcement learning. We found that, (i) the proposal achieved an accurate 3D walking motion capture and outperforms other advanced methods. Experimental evidence indicates that, compared to similar visual skeleton tracking methods, the proposed approach yields results with higher Pearson correlation (r=0.93), intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC(2,1)=0.91), and narrower confidence intervals ([0.90,0.95] for r, [0.88,0.94] for ICC(2,1)) when compared to standard results. The outcomes of the proposed approach also exhibit commendable correlation and concurrence with those obtained through the IMU-based skeleton tracking method in the assessment of gait parameters ([0.85,0.89] for r, [0.75,0.81] for ICC(2,1)); (ii) multi-agent reinforcement learning has the potential to be used to solve the simulation task of gait rehabilitation. In mimicry experiment, our proposed simulation method for gait rehabilitation not only enables the intelligent agent to converge from the initial state to the target state, but also observes evolutionary patterns similar to those observed in clinical practice through motor state resolution. This study offers valuable contributions to walking rehabilitation, enabling precise assessment and simulation-based interventions, with potential implications for clinical practice and patient outcomes.

RESUMO

What is already known about this topic?: Previously, it has been proved that a simplified model that uses refraction error value provides a robust and efficient means of predicting myopia for non-myopic students. Intervention targeting non-myopic children with alert refraction errors (or insufficient hyperopia reserve) holds significant importance in reducing the incidence rate of myopia. What is added by this report?: This study, comprising two phases (surveillance and cohort studies), was aiming to pinpoint the precise refractive error value for the onset of myopia prediction among non-myopic children in Jiangsu Province. What are the implications for public health practice?: First, when conducting myopia screenings using pupil dilation for non-myopic populations: the cycloplegic 50th percentile refractive error emerges as a more precise predictive indicator. Second, when conducting myopia screenings without pupil dilation: this study advocates for the incorporation of axial length (AL) and corneal curvature (CC) values as supplementary indicators in screenings.

RESUMO

Sodium-selenium (Na-Se) batteries are promising energy storage systems with high energy density, high safety, and low cost. However, the huge volume change of selenium, the dissolution shuttle of polyselenides, and low selenium loading need to be solved. Herein, Cu nanoparticles decorated MXene nanosheets composite (MXene/Cu) are synthesized by etching Ti3AlC2 using a molten salt etching strategy. The Se-loaded MXene/Cu (Se@MXene/Cu) electrode delivers superior electrochemical performance even with a high Se loading of ∼74.3 wt%, owing to the synergistic effect of the two-dimensional (2D) confined structure and catalytic role of the unique MXene/Cu host. Specifically, the obtained electrode provides a reversible capacity of 587.3 mAh/g at 0.2 A/g, a discharge capacity as high as 511.3 mAh/g at a high rate of 50 A/g, and still maintains a capacity of 471.9 mAh/g even after 5000 cycles based on the mass of Se@MXene/Cu. With such excellent electrochemical kinetic properties, this study highlights the importance of designing various MXene-based composites with synergistic effects of 2D confined structure and Cu catalytic center for the development of high-performance alkali metal-chalcogen battery systems.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) devices are commonly used in numerous interventional procedures across various parts of the body, necessitating multiple scans per procedure, which results in significant radiation exposure for both doctors and patients. Inspired by generative artificial intelligence techniques, this study proposes GenDSA, a large-scale pretrained multi-frame generative model-based real-time and low-dose DSA imaging system. METHODS: GenDSA was developed to generate 1-, 2-, and 3-frame sequences following each real frame. A large-scale dataset comprising ∼3 million DSA images from 27,117 patients across 10 hospitals was constructed to pretrain, fine-tune, and validate GenDSA. Two other datasets from 25 hospitals were used for evaluation. Objective evaluations included SSIM and PSNR. Five interventional radiologists independently assessed the quality of the generated frames using the Likert scale and visual Turing test. Scoring consistency among the radiologists was measured using the Kendall coefficient of concordance (W). The Fleiss' kappa values were used for inter-rater agreement analysis for visual Turing tests. FINDINGS: Using only one-third of the clinical radiation dose, videos generated by GenDSA were perfectly consistent with real videos. Objective evaluations demonstrated that GenDSA's performance (PSNR = 36.83, SSIM = 0.911, generation time = 0.07 s/frame) surpassed state-of-the-art algorithms. Subjective ratings and statistical results from five doctors indicated no significant difference between real and generated videos. Furthermore, the generated videos were comparable to real videos in overall quality (4.905 vs. 4.935) and lesion assessment (4.825 vs. 4.860). CONCLUSIONS: With clear clinical and translational values, the developed GenDSA can significantly reduce radiation damage to both doctors and patients during DSA-guided procedures. FUNDING: This study was supported by the National Key R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP-A) pathogenesis remains uncertain, with potential viral involvement. More clinical cases are needed to deepen our understanding of this disease, along with the exploration of more effective treatment options to provide clinicians with additional choices. METHODS: We report a severe case of GFAP-A secondary to EBV infection, characterized predominantly by central respiratory failure. Additionally, we conducted a literature review summarizing the characteristics of GFAP-IgG-positive patients associated with EBV infection. RESULTS: Among the 13 patients identified, fever (92.3%) and headache (84.6%) were the most common initial symptoms, while urinary dysfunction was universally present in all patients. Over half of the patients with altered consciousness required endotracheal intubation (7/11, 63.6%), with only one individual experiencing complete resolution without any residual sequela. Only two patients (16.7%) displayed the classic feature of periventricular enhancement on neuroimaging, whereas T2-FLAIR hyperintensities were more prevalent. All patients tested positive for GFAP-IgG in CSF, and 91.7% (11/12) had detectable serum GFAP-IgG antibodies. Three patients (23.1%) achieved full recovery solely through antiviral therapy. In patients receiving various immunotherapies, 60% (6/10) still had residual sequelae. CONCLUSION: EBV infection may contribute to the pathogenesis of GFAP-A. GFAP antibody testing is recommended for diagnostic evaluation in cases of central nervous system viral infections presenting with respiratory insufficiency. For severe GFAP-A patients, Protein A immunoadsorption (Protein A IA).

RESUMO

The rumen microbiome plays an important role in providing energy and protein to the host. Manipulation of rumen microbiome during early life may have a long-term beneficial effect on the health, growth performance, and feed efficiency of ruminants. To better understand the profiles and functional potentials of rumen microbiome in young ruminants, metagenomic binning was performed to investigate the rumen microbiome of goat kids from one to 84 days of age. A total of 797 metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) were recovered from the rumen of 42 Laiwu black goat kids. Our findings provide fundamental knowledge of the rumen microbiome during early life based on metagenomic binning, which may provide insights into effective strategies to achieve long-term beneficial effects on animal health and production.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In China, community rehabilitation workers are facing a growing challenge related to heavy occupational stress, which is having an impact on employment turnover. Previous studies have explored the effect of the public service motivation of workers in "helping" jobs on occupational stress or turnover intention, but there is a lack of clarification of the impact of altruism on turnover intention in the case of complex pathways involving various factors. METHODS: A stratified sampling method was used, and a total of 82 community rehabilitation workers who assist disabled people from 34 community health centres in Jiangmen city were included in the study from August to October 2022. The turnover intention, occupational stress, burnout, quality of life, altruism, and certain sociodemographic information of community rehabilitation workers were measured using a structured questionnaire. The partial least squares method was employed to construct and test the structural equation model. RESULTS: Although altruism had no direct impact on occupational stress or turnover intention, altruism moderated the effect of occupational stress on burnout (ßMod = -0.208) and quality of life (ßMod = 0.230) and weakened the mediation of burnout and quality of life between occupational stress and turnover intention. CONCLUSIONS: This study proposes to address the dilemma of "strong function" and "weak specialty" in community rehabilitation services and to conduct positive psychological interventions for community rehabilitation workers through the guidance of altruistic values.

RESUMO

The emergence of multi-petawatt laser facilities is expected to push forward the maximum energy gain that can be achieved in a single stage of a laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) to tens of giga-electron volts, which begs the question-is it likely to impact particle physics by providing a truly compact particle collider? Colliders have very stringent requirements on beam energy, acceleration efficiency, and beam quality. In this article, we propose an LWFA scheme that can for the first time simultaneously achieve hitherto unrealized acceleration efficiency from the laser to the electron beam of >20% and a sub-1% energy spread using a stepwise plasma structure and a nonlinearly chirped laser pulse. Three-dimensional high-fidelity simulations show that the nonlinear chirp can effectively mitigate the laser waveform distortion and lengthen the acceleration distance. This, combined with an interstage rephasing process in the stepwise plasma, can triple the beam energy gain compared to that in a uniform plasma for a fixed laser energy, thereby dramatically increasing the efficiency. A dynamic beam loading effect can almost perfectly cancel the energy chirp that arises during the acceleration, leading to the sub-percent energy spread. This scheme is highly scalable and can be applied to petawatt LWFA scenarios. Scaling laws are obtained, which suggest that electron beams with parameters relevant for a Higgs factory could be reached with the proposed high-efficiency, low-energy-spread scheme.

RESUMO

Cutting-edge humanoid machine vision merely mimics human systems and lacks polarimetric functionalities that convey the information of navigation and authentic images. Interspecies-chimera vision reserving multiple hosts' capacities will lead to advanced machine vision. However, implementing the visual functions of multiple species (human and non-human) in one optoelectronic device is still elusive. Here, we develop an optically-controlled polarimetry memtransistor based on a van der Waals heterostructure (ReS2/GeSe2). The device provides polarization sensitivity, nonvolatility, and positive/negative photoconductance simultaneously. The polarimetric measurement can identify celestial polarizations for real-time navigation like a honeybee. Meanwhile, cognitive tasks can be completed like a human by sensing, memory, and synaptic functions. Particularly, the anti-glare recognition with polarimetry saves an order of magnitude energy compared to the traditional humanoid counterpart. This technique promotes the concept of interspecies-chimera visual systems that will leverage the advances of autonomous vehicles, medical diagnoses, intelligent robotics, etc.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: As the global consumption of sugary and non-sugar sweetened beverages continues to rise, there is growing concern about their health impacts, particularly among pregnant women and their offspring. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the consumption patterns of various beverages among pregnant women in Shanghai and their potential health impacts on both mothers and offspring. METHOD: We applied a multi-stage random sampling method to select participants from 16 districts in Shanghai. Each district was categorised into five zones. Two towns were randomly selected from each zone, and from each town, 30 pregnant women were randomly selected. Data were collected through face-to-face questionnaires. Follow-up data on births within a year after the survey were also obtained. RESULT: The consumption rates of total beverages (TB), sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB), and non-sugar sweetened beverages (NSS) were 73.2%, 72.8%, and 13.5%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis showed that compared to non-consumers, pregnant women consuming TB three times or less per week had a 38.4% increased risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (OR = 1.384; 95% CI: 1.129-1.696) and a 64.2% increased risk of gestational hypertension (GH) (OR = 1.642; 95% CI: 1.129-2.389). Those consuming TB four or more times per week faced a 154.3% higher risk of GDM (OR = 2.543; 95% CI: 2.064-3.314) and a 169.3% increased risk of GH (OR = 2.693; 95% CI: 1.773-4.091). Similar results were observed in the analysis of SSB. Regarding offspring health, compared to non-consumers, TB consumption four or more times per week was associated with a substantial increase in the risk of macrosomia (OR = 2.143; 95% CI: 1.304-3.522) and large for gestational age (LGA) (OR = 1.695; 95% CI: 1.219-2.356). In the analysis of NSS, with a significantly increased risk of macrosomia (OR = 6.581; 95% CI:2.796-13.824) and LGA (OR = 7.554; 95% CI: 3.372-16.921). CONCLUSION: The high level of beverage consumption among pregnant women in Shanghai needs attention.
