RESUMO

Antimony (Sb) is a metalloid, widely presents in the environment and associates with human health. In this study, we aimed to decipher whether Sb exposure is harmful to female reproduction and explore the underlying mechanisms. The ICR mice were exposed to 0, 5, 10, and 20 mg/kg acetate potassium Sb tartrate trihydrate by intraperitoneal injection for 10 days, then mouse oocytes were collected for further analysis. We first found a significant decrease in the proportion of MII-stage oocytes obtained from supernumerary ovulation in the fallopian tubes and early embryo development under Sb treatment. Then a series of tests showed Sb affects oocyte maturation by damaging the cytoskeleton of microtubule and actin. Moreover, the abnormal distribution of cortical granules and their component Ovastacin in oocytes, combined with reduced expression levels of Juno, affected sperm-oocyte binding and led to fertilization failure. Based on the sequencing results and experimental validation, it was demonstrated that Sb exposure impairs mitochondrial distribution and membrane potential, elevated levels of mitochondrial superoxide, finally caused energy supply deficits. Mitochondrial damage in oocytes after Sb exposure results in the excessive oxidative stress and early apoptosis. Taken together, these data suggest that Sb exposure decreases oocyte quality and female fertilization ability by impairing mitochondrial function and redox perturbation.

RESUMO

Optical metasurfaces with pronounced spectral characteristics are promising for sensor applications. Currently, deep learning (DL) offers a rapid manner to design various metasurfaces. However, conventional DL models are usually assumed as black boxes, which is difficult to explain how a DL model learns physical features, and they usually predict optical responses of metasurfaces in a fuzzy way. This makes them incapable of capturing critical spectral features precisely, such as high quality (Q) resonances, and hinders their use in designing metasurface sensors. Here, a transformer-based explainable DL model named Metaformer for the high-intelligence design, which adopts a spectrum-splitting scheme to elevate 99% prediction accuracy through reducing 99% training parameters, is established. Based on the Metaformer, all-dielectric metasurfaces based on quasi-bound states in the continuum (Q-BIC) for high-performance metasensing are designed, and fabrication experiments are guided potently. The explainable learning relies on spectral position encoding and multi-head attention of meta-optics features, which overwhelms traditional black-box models dramatically. The meta-attention mechanism provides deep physics insights on metasurface sensors, and will inspire more powerful DL design applications on other optical devices.

RESUMO

Objectives: The aim of this study is to explore the expression of inflammatory cytokines (ICs) in Fabry disease (FD), the correlation between ICs and FD phenotypes, and the impact of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) on IC expression. Methods: We recruited 67 FD patients and 44 healthy controls (HCs) and detected concentrations of the following ICs: interferon-γ, interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12P70, IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-22, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and TNF-ß. We also analyzed the impact of ERT on IC expression in FD patients and the relationship between IC expression and sex, genotype, phenotype, disease burden, and biomarkers. Results: Most ICs were significantly higher in FD patients than in HCs. A number of ICs were positively correlated with clinical aspects, including disease burden (Mainz Severity Score Index [MSSI]) and cardiac and renal markers. IL-8 was higher in the high MSSI (P-adj=0.026*) than in the low MSSI. Conclusions: ICs were upregulated in FD patients, indicating the role of the innate immune process in FD etiology. ERT ameliorated FD-related inflammatory activation, at least to some extent. IC expression was positively correlated with disease burden and clinical markers in FD. Our findings indicated that the inflammatory pathway may be a promising therapeutic target for FD.

RESUMO

Media literacy plays an increasingly important role in health communication during public health emergencies. The present study aimed to investigate the level of media literacy and its association with disease perceptions and behavioral intentions of receiving vaccination services among young men who have sex with men (YMSM) in China during the 2022 multi-country mpox outbreak. The data were from a large-scale cross-sectional survey conducted among 2,493 YMSM aged 18-29 years in six provincial regions in China in September 2022. A total of 2,079 YMSM who had obtained mpox information from social media platforms were included in this study. Correlation analysis and path analysis were conducted. The mean age of the sample was 24.7. After controlling for background variables, significant positive correlations were found in several pairs between media literacy, mpox-related perceptions (including perceived susceptibility to mpox, perceived severity of mpox, perceived benefits of mpox vaccination, and self-efficacy of receiving mpox vaccination), and the behavioral intention of receiving mpox vaccination. The mpox-related perceptions played a significant mediation role in the association between media literacy and intention of receiving mpox vaccination (indirect effect = 0.165, p < .001, effect size = 82.1%). Media literacy is crucial for developing disease perceptions during public health emergencies and may further influence the adoption of preventive measures. As social media platforms have become the main battle field of health communication during disease outbreaks, improvement of media literacy is urgently warranted.

RESUMO

Objective: Characterization of the multidrug resistance (MDR) region in P. aeruginosa strain PA59 revealed the presence of antibiotic resistance genes, including blaIMP-45 and blaVIM-2, within a complex genetic landscape of mobile genetic elements. Methods: Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) strains were isolated from Shanghai Changhai Hospital. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the ß-lactamase genes in the isolated strains. Strains carrying two or more genes were subjected to whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and in-depth bioinformatics analysis. Results: A total of 94 CRPA strains were isolated, among which PA59 was determined to carry blaIMP-45 and blaVIM-2 genes. Compared with single-gene positive or other blaIMP and blaVIM dual-gene positive strains reported, PA59 exhibited a broader range of drug resistance. We discovered a multidrug resistant (MDR)-related region composed of various mobile elements in the PA59 chromosome. This region carried many resistance genes, including the target genes blaIMP-45 and blaVIM-2. By further comparing the mobile elements GI13 and Ph08, we speculated that this integron structure carrying blaIMP-45 and blaVIM-2 was initially integrated into the genomic island or prophage, forming a more complex genetic structure, and then further integrated into the PA59 chromosome through plasmids. Phylogenetic tree analysis showed limited sequence similarity between PA59 and other CRPA strains. Conclusions: This study identified PA59 as the first reported P. aeruginosa strain carrying both blaIMP-45 and blaVIM-2 on the chromosome. The assembly and annotation of the PA59 genome provide valuable insights into the genomic diversity and gene content of this clinically important pathogen, aiding the development of effective strategies against antibiotic resistance.

RESUMO

The impact of logistics development on the economy covers many aspects, such as production, cost, employment, international trade, etc. It is an indispensable part of the modern economy, which helps to improve overall economic efficiency and social prosperity. This study studies the spatiotemporal dynamic evolution characteristics of China's logistics development from 2008 to 2018 and explores its impact on economic growth in multiple dimensions of time and space. The research findings indicate the following: (1) From 2008 to 2018, China's logistics development level (LDL) exhibited a clear upward trend. The differences between the eastern, central, and western regions showed fluctuating downward patterns, ultimately converging towards a high-level concentration. Concerning spatial distribution, China's logistics development demonstrated a trend towards the west and south. However, the spatial pattern of "strong in the east and weak in the west " has existed for a long time. Moreover, the "T-shaped" pattern between coastal provinces and those along the Yangtze River Basin deepened, and the LDL in the central and western regions significantly improved. (2) The advancement of China's LDL effectively promotes its economic growth, confirming that the Belt and Road Initiative enhances the role of logistics development in driving economic growth. Regarding regional differences, logistics development positively influences economic growth in the eastern and western regions, with a less significant impact on the central region. Regarding the strength of influence, logistics development has a more substantial effect on promoting high-ranking provinces in the entire country, the eastern region, and the central region, as well as boosting economic growth in low-ranking provinces in the western region.

RESUMO

Background: Nitroglycerin administration prior to examination improves stenosis assessment of coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography (CCTA). However, whether nitroglycerin influences CT-derived fractional flow reserve (FFR, CT-FFR) evaluation remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effect of nitroglycerin on diagnostic performance of CT-FFR. Methods: In this single-center retrospective study, 107 consecutive patients suspected of coronary artery disease (CAD) with nitroglycerin administration prior to CCTA in 2019 were matched to 107 patients without nitroglycerin in 2016 from Fuwai Hospital. All patients underwent CCTA and invasive FFR in a month. Vessel-based and patient-based accuracy and diagnostic performance of CT-FFR were compared between the two groups, as well as image quality, coronary artery diameter and evaluability. Quantitative variables were compared by Kruskal-Wallis H test. Categorical variables and rates were compared by χ2 test or Fisher exact test. Results: A total of 214 patients (56.1±8.9 years, 155 male) with 237 target lesion vessels were analyzed, including 120 vessels in nitroglycerin and 117 vessels in non-nitroglycerin group. Per-vessel based accuracy of CT-FFR was higher in nitroglycerin group {80.0% [95% confidence interval (CI): 71.7-86.7%] vs. 68.4% (59.1-76.7%), P=0.041}. On a per-patient basis, nitroglycerin administration improved the accuracy [83.2% (74.7-89.7%) vs. 68.2% (58.5-76.9%), P=0.01], specificity [82.7% (69.7-91.8%) vs. 61.9% (48.8-73.9%), P=0.01], positive predictive value (PPV) [83.6% (73.6-90.4%) vs. 58.6% (50.0-66.9%), P=0.004], and area under the curve (AUC) [0.83 (0.75-0.89) vs. 0.71 (0.61-0.79), P=0.03] of CT-FFR. Vessel diameters (left main arteries: 4.3 vs. 3.8 mm, P<0.001; left anterior descending arteries: 3.1 vs. 2.9 mm, P=0.001; left circumflex arteries: 2.9 vs. 2.7 mm, P=0.01; right coronary arteries: 3.7 vs. 3.4 mm, P=0.001) and number of evaluable coronary arteries (11.0 vs. 8.0, P<0.001) were larger in nitroglycerin group. Conclusions: Nitroglycerin administration prior to CCTA has positive effects on diagnostic performance of CT-FFR.

RESUMO

Leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR), in complex with glycoprotein 130 (gp130) as the receptor for leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), can bind to a variety of cytokines and subsequently activate a variety of signaling pathways, including Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3. LIF, the most multifunctional cytokines of the interleukin-6 family acts as both a growth factor and a growth inhibitor in different types of tumors. LIF/LIFR signaling regulates a broad array of tumor-related processes including proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion. However, due to the activation of different signaling pathways, opposite regulatory effects are observed in certain tumor cells. Therefore, the role of LIFR in human cancers varies across different tumor and tissue, despite their recognized value in tumor treatment and prognosis observation is affirmed. Given its aberrant expression in numerous tumor cells and crucial regulatory function in tumorigenesis and progression, LIFR is considered as a promising targeted therapeutic agent. This review provides an overview of LIFR's initiating signaling pathway function as a cytokine receptor and summarize the current literature on the role of LIFR in cancer and its possible use in therapy.

RESUMO

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy is being promoted with the development of accelerator neutron sources, and many new accelerator-based BNCT facilities are being built. In Particle Accelerator Facility project of Sun Yat-sen University, we plan to build a terminal for BNCT research based on an 8 MeV, CW 3 mA proton accelerator. In this paper, we present a beam-shaping assembly for this proton accelerator with such low 24 kW beam power, using composite moderator materials composed of five elements: Mg, Al, F, O, and Li. The calculation result of FLUKA with ENDF/B and JENDL libraries shows that the epithermal neutron beam flux is 1.57×109n/cm2/s with the CW 3 mA proton beam. The fast neutron component and the gamma ray component under free-air condition are 1.49×10-13Gy∙cm2 and 8.12×10-14Gy∙cm2 respectively, in line with IAEA-TECDOC-1223 design recommendations. The thermal analysis shows that the maximum temperature of beryllium target is 706.5 K, and the structure materials of BSA do not melt.

RESUMO

The occurrence mechanism of intracerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. Several recent studies have highlighted the close relationship between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage, but the mechanisms of causal mediation are inconclusive. We aimed to investigate the causal relationships and potential mechanisms between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage. Multiple Mendelian randomization methods were used to identify a causal relationship between environmental senses and intracerebral hemorrhage. Gut microbiota and brain imaging phenotypes were used to find possible mediators. Enrichment and molecular interaction analyses were used to identify potential mediators and molecular targets. No causal relationship between temperature and visual perception with intracerebral hemorrhage was found, whereas long-term noise was identified as a risk factor for intracerebral hemorrhage (OR 2.95, 95% CI: 1.25 to 6.93, PIVW = 0.01). The gut microbiota belonging to the class Negativicutes and the order Selenomonadales and the brain image-derived phenotypes ICA100 node 54, edge 803, edge 1149, and edge 1323 played mediating roles. "Regulation of signaling and function in synaptic organization" is the primary biological pathway of noise-induced intracerebral hemorrhage, and ARHGAP22 may be the critical gene. This study emphasized the importance of environmental noise in the prevention, disease management, and underlying biological mechanisms of intracerebral hemorrhage.

RESUMO

Objective: Shi's Knee Daoyin (SKD) exercise is a treatment derived from Traditional Chinese exercise (TCE) specifically designed for lower limb health care. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial to explore the effectiveness of SKD exercise in treating knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods: Participants were randomized to receive Health Education (HE) or SKD exercise. The primary outcomes were feasibility and safety outcomes, including participant recruitment rate, retention rate, as well as adherence to intervention. The secondary outcomes included Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores for pain, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score, the 20-Meter Walk Test (20-MWT) and the 5-times Chair-Stand Test (5-CST). Results: The results indicate that out of 89 individuals invited to participate in the study, 72 were eligible and agreed to participate, resulting in a recruitment rate of 80.9%. All participating patients completed the follow-up and were included in the analysis; no patients dropped out of the study due to adverse events. The secondary outcome measures showed that after twelve weeks of treatment, the VAS score, WOMAC total score, WOMAC pain score, WOMAC stiffness score, and WOMAC function score of patients in the HE group and SKD group all improved, but the improvement was more significant in the SKD group. The 20-MWT of SKD group after treatment was significantly shorter than before treatment (P<0.001); There was no significant difference in 20-MWT between the HE group and baseline after treatment. The performance of the two groups of patients improved in 5-CST, but there was no statistical difference between the two groups after treatment (P=2.439). Conclusion: This study evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of home-based SKD exercise intervention in alleviating symptoms in patients with symptomatic KOA, providing valuable information for designing an appropriate randomized controlled study.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Female adolescents are more prone to depression compared with male adolescents, and depression is often associated with poor attentional control and problematic internet use (PIU). Attentional control includes both focusing and shifting functions. Focusing refers to the ability to direct attention to a task despite distractions. Shifting refers to the ability to flexibly switch attention between different tasks. This study examines the mediating role of attentional focusing and shifting between depression and PIU. METHODS: Female high school and college students (n = 476) in Taiwan participated in a survey administered at three time points over a seven-month period. The single- and two- mediator models examined their joint mediation effects. RESULTS: The results showed that the direct effect of depression on PIU was significant. The indirect effects also showed that attentional focusing was a negative partial mediator in the relationship between depression and PIU, while attentional shifting was not one. CONCLUSION: Informed by attentional theory and digital emotion regulation, addressing depression to mitigate its negative impact on attentional control and negative emotions is crucial. The potential impact, whether harmful or beneficial, of adolescents carefully selecting their online activities to reduce the risk of PIU remains contentious. Given the focus on Taiwanese adolescent girls during the COVID-19 pandemic, further research is needed to extend the applicability of the theory to other periods without being affected by COVID-19.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the gender differences in isolated mitral regurgitation (MR) repair. METHODS: Of 381 adults aged 54.8 ± 12.3 years undergoing mitral valve repair (MVP) for isolated MR from January 2019 to December 2022, the baseline and operative data, and outcomes were compared between 161 women (42.3%) and 220 men (57.7%). RESULTS: Women tended to be nonsmokers (98.1 vs. 45%, p < 0.001), and have more cerebrovascular accidents (38.5% vs. 24.1%, p = 0.004) and isolated annular dilatation (19.3 vs. 9.1%, p = 0.010), lower creatinine (70.0 ± 19.5 vs. 86.3 ± 19.9 µmol/dL, p < 0.001), and smaller left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD; 54.4 ± 6.7 vs. 57.8 ± 6.6 mm, p < 0.001). One female died of stroke at 2 days (0.3%). Another female (0.3%) underwent mitral valve replacement for failed repair. Stroke occurred in 4 (1.0%). Two underwent reexploration for bleeding (0.5%). Women were more likely to have less 24-hour drainage (290 ± 143 vs. 385 ± 196 mL, p < 0.001). Over a mean follow-up of 2.1 ± 1.1 years (100% complete), 1 woman died and 1 man underwent a reoperation; 28 had moderate MR, and 9 had severe MR. Neither did early and late mortality and reoperation, nor freedom from late moderate or severe MR (71.6 vs. 71.4% at 5 years; p = 0.992) differ significantly between the two genders. Predictors for late moderate or severe MR were anterior leaflet prolapse (hazard ratio [HR] 4.45; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.18-16.72; p = 0.027) and isolated annular dilation (HR 5.47, 95% CI 1.29-23.25; p = 0.021). CONCLUSION: In this series of patients undergoing isolated MR repair, despite significant differences in smoking, cerebrovascular accidents, creatinine, LVEDD, and isolated annular dilatation at baseline, and 24-hour drainage postoperatively, women and men did not show significant differences in early and late survival, reoperation, and freedom from late moderate or severe MR.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: It was reported that either shorter programmed intermittent epidural bolus (PIEB) intervals or high-speed bolus can produce more extensive epidural spread. We hypothesized that a combination of shortened time interval and increased speed of epidural bolus might further improve analgesic effect and therefore reduce the hourly volume for epidural labour analgesia. METHODS: This double-blind dose-finding study used a biased coin up-and-down sequential allocation method to determine the 90% effective bolus volume of ropivacaine combined with sufentanil while using the push pump at a rate of 400 mL/hr and interval of 30 min to provide effective analgesia without breakthrough pain. We used 0.1% ropivacaine with 0.4 µg/mL sufentanil, with bolus volumes ranging from 3 to 6 mL. The first patient was assigned a volume of 3 mL, and the remaining volumes were assigned according to the biased coin-up-and-down method. RESULTS: The estimated 90% effective volume (EV90) of ropivacaine combined with sufentanil for epidural labour analgesia at a time interval of 30 min was 4.88 mL (95% confidence interval 4.83-5.38). CONCLUSIONS: The optimum bolus volume of ropivacaine with sufentanil while using push pump at a time interval of 30 min is approximately 5 mL. It could probably further reduce the hourly bolus volume for epidural labour analgesia.

RESUMO

Characterizing the nature of hydrodynamical transport properties in quantum dynamics provides valuable insights into the fundamental understanding of exotic non-equilibrium phases of matter. Experimentally simulating infinite-temperature transport on large-scale complex quantum systems is of considerable interest. Here, using a controllable and coherent superconducting quantum simulator, we experimentally realize the analog quantum circuit, which can efficiently prepare the Haar-random states, and probe spin transport at infinite temperature. We observe diffusive spin transport during the unitary evolution of the ladder-type quantum simulator with ergodic dynamics. Moreover, we explore the transport properties of the systems subjected to strong disorder or a tilted potential, revealing signatures of anomalous subdiffusion in accompany with the breakdown of thermalization. Our work demonstrates a scalable method of probing infinite-temperature spin transport on analog quantum simulators, which paves the way to study other intriguing out-of-equilibrium phenomena from the perspective of transport.

RESUMO

Oocyte aging is a key constraint on oocyte quality, leading to fertilization failure and abnormal embryonic development. In addition, it is likely to generate unfavorable assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes. SCM-198, a synthetic form of leonurine, was found to rescue the rate of oocyte fragmentation caused by postovulatory aging. Therefore, the aim of this study was to conduct a more in-depth investigation of SCM-198 by exploring its relationship with aged oocytes after ovulation or maternal aging and clarifying whether it affects cell quality. The results indicate that, compared to the postovulatory aged group, the 50 µM SCM-198 group significantly improved sperm-egg binding and increased fertilization of aged oocytes, restoring the spindle apparatus/chromosome structure, cortical granule distribution, and ovastacin and Juno protein distribution. The 50 µM SCM-198 group showed significantly normal mitochondrial distribution, low levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and a small quantity of early oocyte apoptosis compared to the postovulatory aged group. Above all, in vivo supplementation with SCM-198 effectively eliminated excess ROS and reduced the spindle/chromosome structural defects in aged mouse oocytes. In summary, these findings indicate that SCM-198 inhibits excessive oxidative stress in oocytes and alters oocyte quality both in vitro and in vivo.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We seek to compare the early and late outcomes of reperfusion-first versus central repair-first strategies in patients with acute type A dissection (ATAAD) complicated by mesenteric malperfusion. METHODS: Among 68 patients, reperfusion-first strategy with superior mesenteric artery (SMA) stenting was adopted in 31 and central repair-first in 37, based on rupture risk and circulatory compromise, severity, time and mechanisms of mesenteric ischemia. Early and late outcomes were compared between two strategies. Follow-up was 100% at 3.3±1.4 years. RESULTS: Mean age was 50.6±11.4 years (59 males, 86.8%). The reperfusion-first group had more celiac artery involvement (74.2% vs. 48.6%) and peritoneal irritation signs (19.4% vs. 2.7%), while central repair-first group had more tamponade (27% vs. 3.2%). Early mortality was 48.6% (18/37) with central repair-first strategy versus 19.4% (6/31) in reperfusion-first group (P=0.012). Reperfusion-first patients had fewer gastrointestinal complications (12.9% vs. 54.1%, P<0.001) and respiratory failure (3.2% vs. 24.3%, P=0.017). At 5 years, SMA stent patency was 84%, and survival was significantly higher in reperfusion-first patients (80.6% vs. 45.9%, P=0.009), with similar freedom from adverse events between two groups (74.9% vs. 76.0%, P=0.812). Tamponade (hazard ratio [HR], 3.093; P=0.023), peritoneal irritation signs (HR, 8.559; P=0.006), and lactate (mmol/L) (HR, 1.279; P<0.001) were predictors for all-cause mortality. CONCLUSIONS: In this series of ATAAD patients with mesenteric malperfusion, the reperfusion-first strategy with SMA stenting could significantly reduce the mortality risk and achieved favorable late survival and freedom from adverse events. These results argue favorably for the use of the reperfusion-first strategy in such patients.

RESUMO

Background: Studies have reported the adverse effects of cold events on influenza. However, the role of critical factors, such as characteristics of cold spells, and regional variations remain unresolved. Objective: We aimed to systematically evaluate the association between cold spells and influenza incidence in mainland China. Methods: This time series analysis used surveillance data of daily influenza from 325 sites in China in the 2014-2019 period. A total of 15 definitions of cold spells were adopted based on combinations of temperature thresholds and days of duration. A distributed lag linear model was used to estimate the short-term effects of cold spells on influenza incidence during the cool seasons (November to March), and we further explored the potential impact of cold spell characteristics (ie, intensity, duration, and timing during the season) on the estimated associations. Meta-regressions were used to evaluate the modification effect of city-level socioeconomic indicators. Results: The overall effect of cold spells on influenza incidence increased with the temperature threshold used to define cold spells, whereas the added effects were generally small and not statistically significant. The relative risk of influenza-associated with cold spells was 3.35 (95% CI 2.89-3.88), and the estimated effects were stronger during the middle period of cool seasons. The health effects of cold spells varied geographically and residents in Jiangnan region were vulnerable groups (relative risk 7.36, 95% CI 5.44-9.95). The overall effects of cold spells were positively correlated with the urban population density, population size, gross domestic product per capita, and urbanization rate, indicating a sterner response to cold spells in metropolises. Conclusions: Cold spells create a substantial health burden on seasonal influenza in China. Findings on regional and socioeconomic differences in the health effects of cold spells on seasonal influenza may be useful in formulating region-specific public health policies to address the hazardous effects of cold spells.

RESUMO

Intrinsically stretchable organic photovoltaics (is-OPVs) hold significant promise for integration into self-powered wearable electronics. However, their potential is hindered by the lack of sufficient consistency between optoelectronic and mechanical properties. This is primarily due to the limited availability of stretchable transparent electrodes (STEs) that possess both high conductivity and stretchability. Here, a hybrid STE with exceptional conductivity, stretchability, and thermal stability is presented. Specifically, STEs are composed of the modified PH1000 (referred to as S-PH1000) and silver nanowires (AgNWs). The S-PH1000 endows the STE with good stretchability and smoothens the surface, while the AgNWs enhance the charge transport. The resulting hybrid STEs enable is-OPVs to a remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 16.32%, positioning them among the top-performing is-OPVs. With 10% elastomer, the devices retain 82% of the initial PCE after 500 cycles at 20% strain. Additionally, OPVs equipped with these STEs exhibit superior thermal stability compared to those using indium tin oxide electrodes, maintaining 75% of the initial PCE after annealing at 85 °C for 390 h. The findings underscore the suitability of the designed hybrid electrodes for efficient and stable is-OPVs, offering a promising avenue for the future application of OPVs.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to explore whether MAF bZIP transcription factor B (MAFB) might alleviate ulcerative colitis (UC) in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mice and LPS-induced IEC-6 cells. METHODS: UC in vivo and in vitro model was established by using DSS and LPS, respectively. The mice body weight and disease activity index (DAI) score were recorded daily, and colon length was measured. Moreover, the permeability was evaluated utilizing a fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran (FITC-Dextran) probe. Histopathological changes of DSS-induced colitis mice was assessed utilizing H&E staining. Next, qRT-PCR was performed to detect IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-10 level in in vivo and in vitro. Furthermore, the level of MDA, SOD, CAT, and GSH were evaluated in colon tissues. Besides, the expressions of tight junction proteins and NF-κB pathway relative proteins were examined in colitis mice and IEC-6 cells using western blot, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. RESULTS: MAFB level was downregulated in DSS-induced colitis mice. Moreover, the upregulation of MAFB protected mice from DSS-induced colitis by suppressing DSS-induced inflammation, oxidative stress, and intestinal barrier impairment. We also demonstrated that the upregulation of MAFB inactivated NF-κB pathway in DSS-caused colitis mice. Subsequently, we observed that MAFB upregulation could inhibit LPS-caused epithelial barrier impairment and inflammation in IEC-6 cells. Additionally, MAFB overexpression could suppress the activation of NF-κB pathway in IEC-6 cells. CONCLUSION: The upregulation of MAFB could protect against UC via the suppression of inflammation and the intestinal barrier impairment through inhibiting the NF-κB pathway.
